No Stereo Mix

I have a Toshiba L755-S5254 running Windows 7.  There is no stereo mix in the recording devices.  I have right clicked to 'Show Disabled/Disconnected Devices' and stereo mix is not there.  What gives?

If you are running Vista and Win 7 OS, you’re going to have trouble enabling Stereo Mix.  I don’t know what soundcard is in your system but I got it to work with Conextant.  (Let me first say I got really lucky posting here  the same topic 2 weeks ago after literally spending countless hours Googling. Thanks again Brad.)

  • Setting Stereo Mix to default recording device on Windows 8 HP Envy Ultrabook Kills Speakers

When I try setting Stero Mix to be my default recording device, the audio playback always cuts off after about 5-10 seconds or so. When it cuts off it doesn't sound good - it sounds like my speakers fry themselves to a quick and painful death if you can imagine that sound (ok, maybe i'm exagerrating).
Sometimes I have to reboot in order to hear any audio again on this ultrabook. Other times the audio will come back on its own after some time (it may always comes back over time, but most times i'm impatient so I reboot).
Is anyone else with my config able to set Stereo Mix to be the default recordgin and still retain a workable playback device? Anything else I can try?
I have the HP Envy Ultrabook laptop with Windows 8 Pro 64 bit.
    Thanks,

I have since discovered stereo mix works when the laptop is plugged in. If it's unplugged it still will not work even though the setting "continue using while on battery power" is checked in the properties. If this is by-design I suppose I can live with this.

  • Trying to record Stereo Mix with a monitor through my headphones.  Using Screenium to record Audio and Video, using Avid MBox Mini with MXL 909 Microphone for the audio through the interface.

Basically, what I am trying to do is this:
Record my screen through Screeenium, record my voice as audio through an Avid MBox Mini (interface) with a MXL 909 microphone to pick up the audio.  I have all that figured out.  I'm able to efficiently record my audio and screenplay through these instruments and programs.  What I am having trouble with is the stereo mix.  I am running into a slew of problems here... My goal: Add on the audio of a game that I am playing (for example, Amneisia) so that the audio for my game will be picked up internally, and not through the speakers to be recorded through the microphone.  I want there to be no external sound except me talking into my microphone.  I also want to be able to HEAR the audio of the game through my headphones (and if possible, myself as well, through a monitor maybe?)
Problems I have run into so far:
-Haven't gotten it to pick up in game audio at all while using headphone.  Can't figure this out
-Downloaded soundflower, have the output as soundflower.  Not picking up anything, will put all my sound and midi settings at the end.
-When I do record through my microphone, it is only picking up a single channel (left earpiece only, no right channel)
-I have figured out it is NOT the equipment, I use Pro Tools and am able to pick up both channels with my mic, recorded a few tests. It's settings and I can't      figure it out
-Trying not to run 16 million programs while running the game, will cause lag.
    Summed up:
    Trying to record:
-Audio from gameplay of any game I am playing through alternative route of speakers (do NOT want to record game audio through speakers, internally)
-Record voice through Avid MBox Mini and MXL 909 microphone.
    -Record screen gameplay through Screenium
I followed a guide that told me to achieve "stereo mix'' I need to download soundflower and follow "X" steps.  That is done and these are my current settings:
Audio Midi Setup - Stereo Mix custom Aggregate Device, Soundflower (2ch) selected, Avid Mbox Mini selected, Soundflower Output #1 has 2 channels (1-2), using Avid MBox mini for "Input" in order to record.  Using Soundflower AND Avid MBox mini as "Output" in order to hear the sounds and replay game sounds (could be the problem? Maybe?)
Sound Settings - Output Stereo Mix (custom channel)  Input Avid MBox Mini (recording)
I'm hoping this isn't too hard to understand.. I'm VERY bad at explaining information regarding computers.. It's hard becuase I don't understand it.  I can clarify anything that I am able to, so any help on finding certain things would be greatly appreciated.
My computer: Macbook Pro MAC OS X Lion (11G63) 10.7.5  2.4 GHz Intel Core i7 4GB 13333 MGz DDR3  (If any of this is imporant)

    Hey guys,
I tried to do some research and it looks like you need to have an external device and its drivers, such as an external microphone, installed on the computer to record audio that can be saved as a sound file. Another Suggestion is to try an auxiliary spliter for your headphones and external speakers?
What software are you using to record your game?
If anyone knows anything different, please let me know.

  • How can I connect an older Realistic stereo mixer to my 2006 Macbook?

I am a musician and producer and just got "LiveWire CMR-210" cords at Guitar Center today. One is gray and the other is red, and the end has a jack that can connect to your headphone jack or line-in on your computer. I also have a Realistic stereo mixer, it's a little bit older, but I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be able to connect to computers. My laptop is a 2006 Macbook running Snow Leopard. I would like to know how to connect my mixer to my Macbook and use it with VirtualDJ and Garageband, and if possible use it in iTunes.
Thank you in advance for your help. I'm new to Macs but I love my Mac so much already after learning how to use them.

Upgrade Office to Office 2011 for OS X. You can download a trial at www.mactopia.com. Old versions of iWork boxed sets can be found searching Amazon, eBay, or Google.
Office 2004 and Other Applications Don't Work in Lion/Mountain Lion
If you have Office 2004 which is a PPC-only suite, it will not work in Lion/Mountain Lion. You need to upgrade to Office 2011 - Mactopia - or you can try the freeware suite, Libre Office, that is functionally similar to Office 2007 for Windows except it works on Lion/Mountain Lion.
You may want to consider as well:
These two suites are similar to Libre Office but not as current or as well-supported:
    NeoOffice
    Open Office
And, then there is Apple's iWork suite:
Pages - word processing and layout
    Keynote - presentation
    Numbers - spreadsheet
Each can open and save Office compatible files. They may be purchased separately via the Mac App Store for $19.99 each.
As for other software, any PPC-based software will not run in Lion or Mountain Lion because Rosetta is no longer part of OS X. You will need to upgrade to Intel versions of the software.
(Access to the Mac App Store requires Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or higher and an Apple ID.)

  • My computer no longer has Stereo Mix / Wave Out Mix.

I bought an HP G60-443cl notebook computer about less than two years ago. It had Vista installed on it. I was able to record direct audio using Hypercam, FRAPS, Audacity, etc...... Then I reinstalled Vista and now the only sound I'm able to record is via microphone. I checked the sound and audio settings from the control panel. Under the recording tab, only microphone is listed. Nothing else is there even with disconnected and disabled checked. Did I install the right audio driver? I installed the Conexant SmartAudio 221 driver. I didn't bother looking into what audio driver i used before reinstalling Vista and I don't know who manufactured this laptop's sound card.

    Hi,
Record What you Hear/Wave Mix/Stereo Mix on the PC (Example: Record a Song that is being Played in Windows Media Player or Online)
Start->Control panel->Sound, click ‘Recording’ tab above, right click on Empty Space on Recording Tab above, check ‘Show Hidden Devices’ and ‘Show Hidden Devices’, we will find ‘StereoMix’ entry, right click on it, click Enable, select it, and click ‘Set Default’ Button below to have the Green Check on.
Click Start->All Programs->Accessories->Sound Recorder,  Play a Song/Video online, click Start Recording Button on Sound Recorder Window, once done, click Stop Recording Button, it will ask you to choose a Location to save the File.  Go to the Location, and Play it to check if the issue is fixed.
    Thank You.

  • In Logic Pro, how do I record a stereo mix of my project?

I want to have a tape delay plug-in kick in on the last beat of the song, with a high feedback setting so that last note repeats synced to the beat, and fades out slowly. I have everything tweaked so it sounds just like I want it to if I manually turn on the delay one beat before the last note. Obviously, if i bounce down to  stereo mix normally the effect won't turn on. So the first question is:
    1. How can I automate this process so it shows up in the bounce?
If there's no way to do that, then:
    2. How do I take the stereo mix  output of my project and record it in real time?
    Thanks for your time.
    Larry

Hey, Pancenter and Ahrensof, thanks for your help. I briefly tried what you suggested, and probably it would have worked with a different delay. Being  a well-modeled tape delay, suddenly changing the parameters produces artifacts. Then, before I had really spent much time with your ideas, I realized there was a hardware solution. The interface I use, an RME Fireface UFX, has a secondary recording system that records to a Fat 32 USB stick or drive. So I played back the project using the main interface system, clicked the delay on/off switch at the right point manually, and recorded it on the USB system. It worked perfectly.
I suspect that both your solutions would have worked had I spent enough time with them, so I'm going to try to click "solve" on both. I hope the forum software lets me do that. (It didn't. Sorrry Ahrensof, but I gave you a "This helped" and a "like.")
    Thanks again.

Is there any Sound card 5.1 include stereo mix that working with MacBook Air such as Creative Labs SoundBlaster X-Fi Surround 5.1 Pro Entertainment System ? and if there any another sound card can you tell me what is it please ? Thank you.

Okay, I did my best searching and I couldn't find anything that matched all your descriptors. I did do a search on both decoder numbers. SB0256 returned very little results, but with SB0466, I was able to find this ebay listing:
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...6_fvi%3D&_rdc=
This card isn't a Champion like you suggested. And with my complete lack of knowledge, I don't know what I/O dri've bay means. But since it is PCI and the decoder matches the number you gave me, this card should be adequete, right?
Whether it works or not, my search indicated it might be very hard for me to find that card (or any PCI card for that matter). Everything I saw was out of stock. I know this is a forum for Creative, but are there any other manufacturers that will allow me to accomplish my goal, either with current cards, or discontinued cards? Thanks again
Oh, and I will vote on that thread. I probably won't wait for them to release the decoder since I need it now, but I still believe Creative should be giving the customer what they want

  • Is " stereo mix" missing  in your  windows 7 on late 2009 imac 24 or 27 ?

I have a imac 27 running Windows 7 64bit and no stereo mix option.
I am a professor and when I do screen capture of scientific clips I need I can't get audio to record except by the imac mic from the speakers rather than directly.
    That destroys the sound quality.
I have tried to download other sound card drivers and still no stereo mix recording or stereo mix playing options in sound!
I have the fairly useless digital audio s/pdif but not the stereo mix which is really needed in all kinds of recording applications.
I also downloaded the cirrus logic drivers shown in another thread for macbook users, but still no stereo mix.
    Any idea for a fix?
This is an important basic function for any computer, and I can't understand why this is not supported yet?
Apple has used bootcamp to attract Windows users who want to use Windows natively. This is one of the most basic function, full audio capability.
This problem as well the cpu going 20 percent higher just plugging in a headphone, and the fact that the trrs headphone jack does not work on a trrs headset in windows 7 (including mic) is a real negative. The trrs headset like the iphone headset works fine with its mic in the mac side but not in windows side.
Drivers to make the basic hardware in an imac or macbook work in windows 7 shouldn't be rocket science. We need apple support or an innovative person out there to solve these problems.
If anyone reading this has the stereo mix on the w7 side, please let me know on this thread and maybe I can duplicate it on mine.
If not, we know this problem exists for every windows 7 bootcamp user.
    Thanks!
    Best to all

    Hey Redritr,
Thanks for the question. iTunes purchases are billed to Store Credits first, before Credit Cards, as outlined by the following article:

  • Satellite L750-170 Windows 7 Stereo Mix Not Appearing

    Hi,
I've been looking for ages on how to enable my Stereo Mix and I just can't get it up...
I've installed the latest driver for my 'Conexant SmartAudio HD', clicked the 'Show Disabled Devices' and the 'Show Disconnected Devices' and I still end up with no Stereo Mix showing. I've got Stereo Mix on my XP, Vista and my other Windows 7 PC before and I really don't know why it won't work on this.
    Please Help!!
    Thanks

    *I found a solution!*
Stereo Mix is a sound device for recording music from you computer.
It is very useful for marketing purpose.
However, it is usually missing in most Toshiba computers.
Here is how to get it back.
This solution worked for my Satellite L750.
    - Download the latest Conexant SmartAudio driver for your laptop downloadable at http://support.toshiba.com/.
    - Create a new folder (I created one on my Desktop) for the driver and extract the zipped driver files to it with WinRAR.
    - You should find a couple folders. Browse through them until you find the folder labeled W7-64/ W7-32, depending on whether you are using 32-bit or 64-bit.
There will be a .inf file inside. There should only be one file with that extension. Open it in Notepad.
    - Now search in notepad until you find this section:
    ;HKR,%EPattributePath%\EpSettings\PcBeepCtrlEnable ,Enable,1,01
    ;HKR,%EPattributePath%\EpSettings\PcBeepCtrlEnable ,EPname,1,01
    ;HKR,%EPattributePath%\EpSettings\PcBeepCtrlEnable ,DefGainSettings,1,00,07,00,07
    ;HKR,%EPattributePath%\EpSettings\PcBeepCtrlEnable ,MuteGainSettings,1,00,00
    ;HKR,%EPattributePath%\EpSettings\PcBeepCtrlEnable ,Flags,1,00
    ;HKR,%EPattributePath%\EpSettings\StereoMixEnable, Enable,1,01
    ;HKR,%EPattributePath%\EpSettings\StereoMixEnable, MixAssocSeq,1,E0,E0
    ;HKR,%EPattributePath%\EpSettings\StereoMixEnable, MuteGainSettings,1,00,00
Note the semi-colons in front of each line. Remove all the semi-colons so the 8 lines above read like this:
    HKR,%EPattributePath%\EpSettings\PcBeepCtrlEnable, Enable,1,01
    HKR,%EPattributePath%\EpSettings\PcBeepCtrlEnable, EPname,1,01
    HKR,%EPattributePath%\EpSettings\PcBeepCtrlEnable, DefGainSettings,1,00,07,00,07
    HKR,%EPattributePath%\EpSettings\PcBeepCtrlEnable, MuteGainSettings,1,00,00
    HKR,%EPattributePath%\EpSettings\PcBeepCtrlEnable, Flags,1,00
    HKR,%EPattributePath%\EpSettings\StereoMixEnable,E nable,1,01
    HKR,%EPattributePath%\EpSettings\StereoMixEnable,M ixAssocSeq,1,E0,E0
    HKR,%EPattributePath%\EpSettings\StereoMixEnable,M uteGainSettings,1,00,00
    Now cick "File" and "Save".
    - Then go to Control Panel, Sounds and Hardware, Device Manager, Sound, Video, and Game Controllers, and right click on Conexant Smart Audio HD, select Update Driver Software.
    - Then go to Browse My Computer for Software, Let Me Pick From A List, Have Disk, and navigate to the .inf file (the one you edited in Notepad) in the folder on your desktop.
    - It should tell you it is no longer digitally signed and might harm your computer. Install it anyways.
    - Now open up your Sound tray. If you go to the "Recording" tab, and make sure "Show Disabled Devices" and "Show Disconnected Devices" are both checkmarked.
    - Now you should have Stereo Mix. Right click on it and select "Enable".

  • Any way to create an iMovie Stereo Mix?

I've created a project with split audio tracks, when I exported it to my camera using imovie 4 it would mix the tracks, no with five it keeps them separate. Any way to mix down the two tracks to create a stereo mix or at least a mono mix of the two tracks?
    Thanks for your help!

    Hi David,
There ara a number of ways around this . perhaps the 1st one to try is 'Share" from the pull down menu>Quicktime>Expert Settings>Share>Sound to AIFF Options>Linear, mono or stereo AIFF at48kHz16 bit Go!
How long is the track. Could take a while...
    2. If you have Final Cut , you have more control on output including outputing as mono.
    3. Sound Studio http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/4811
will give plenty of features for a limited time so you can get it done.

Re: Sound Blaster Xtreme Audio missing Stereo MixK I think I'm having a similar problem with my Windows 7 Professional system.
I'm am getting sound out of my card.
When I right click on the "speaker" icon in the task bar I see the following list of 5 options
    Volume Mixer
    Playback Devices
    Recording Devices
    Sounds
    Volume Control Options
However when I click on "playback devices", "Recording Devices" and "sounds" nothing comes up.
What I did do is completely uninstall all traces of any installed Creative software and in the device manager did an uninstall for the SB Xtreme Audio Card.
My recording device is the integrated microphone in the Logitech Quickcam/IM that I have installed. If I go to accessories and click on "sound recorder" it doesn't start up either.
The other issue that I see is that when I go into Control Panel and click on Sounds, nothing happens.
Something is definitely going on but I can't seem to track down the cause.

  • Satellite P300-190 - Cannot find the Stereo mix in sound settings

    Hi,
maybe this question is posted before, but i can't seem to activate the stereo mix option in my sound settings.
    It is simply not there.
Does anyone know how to solve this? Or isn't it possible.

    Hi
As far as I know the Realtek sound chip supports StereoMix.
But if your notebook has been equipped with the Conexant sound chip then you would not find the StereoMix anywhere.
One of my notebooks supports Realtek sound chip and Vista is running there.
In control panel -> sound -> recording I clicked right and enabled the option called Show hidden devices and Show disabled devices.
Then StereoMix appeared in my sound settings.
But as said above, this is supported only by Realtek sound chip

  • No Stereo Mix in Audition 3.0 or Windows 7 - How to Fix?

I'm trying to record the stereo mix from my computer in Audition 3.0, unfortunately there is no "Stereo Mix" option in either Audition's Audio Settings or in the Windows Sound Controls.  I've tried to "Show Disabled Devices" in Windows and yet there is no "Stereo Mix" option available.  In turn, the drop-down menu in Audition's Audio Settings doesn't offer a "Stereo" option for recording, just the computer mic.  How is it possible to fix this?  Is it as simple as a plug-in for Windows, or am I missing something?
Screencap attached, any help would be greatly appreciated!  Thanks!

--->Install the driver manufacturer's audio chipset. No the windows 7 driver.
Open the audio properties of windows 7
Right click on the tab within the recording
    Show disabled devices
    Enable the device you need
Double-clicking the device you will find the volume control recording

  • Export "Stereo Mixed" vs. output to Dolby 2.0 in Compressor?

When I export a sequence's audio to AIF, I can specify whether I want to output the audio "channel grouped" or "stereo mixed". If I choose "stereo mixed", the channels are output according to the relative volume levels that I specify in the sequence's "Audio Outputs" preference pane.
If I output to Compressor and specify Dolby 2.0 output for the same sequence, is the Dolby 2.0 signal output adjusted according to the relative volume levels I've specified in the "Audio Outputs" preference pane, or is it just a straight outputting of everything?
    Thanks.

    Hi William,
how did you incorporate your AC3 file into your MPEG 2 file?
I'm trying to add an AC3 surround sound file to a QT and encode both into a single MPEG 2 file (for playback on a digital video projection system) using compressor 3 - can this be done with just compressor and FCP (FCS 2)? Do I need extra software?

  • Stereo mixer levels bug?

I've seen this posted about previously but no replies so thought I'd have a go.
I keyframed a drop in levels from 100 to 0 to fade out the audio but immediately after the zeroed KF, the levels pop back to 100.
I would have thought they would remain at 0 myself from this KF onwards but not so.
I've worked around by trimming the layer back to the zero KF but this is not ideal for all circumstances.
    Any ideas?

Thank you for reporting this issue. I have verified that this is a bug that was introduced in After Effects 2014.1 (13.1). We will investigate and hope to fix this in a future update.
In my testing, I found that this problem only occurs during RAM preview and audio preview. The problem does not occur when you scrub with audio (CTRL/Cmd + scrub), or when you render the composition via the Render Queue.
A workaround you can use is to set the Left Level and Right Level parameters to 0.01% instead of 0%. This should leave the audio functionally inaudible, and it avoids the bug. If having the audio at 0% is important, at the end of the Stereo Mixer keyframes you could also keyframe the layer's Audio Levels property to 0% to absolutely zero out the audio.
    Apologies for the bug.
