No such interface supported - Windows Media Player 12 Windows 7 Home 64bit

I have Windows 7 Home 64 bit on my laptop...it's an original install.
When I double click on .mp3 files, .avi files or .mpeg I get an error message that says "No such interface supported". All files are set default to open with Windows Media Player.
If I open WMP I can play the files directly through there...however clicking on the file to open it will result in the error.
Anybody know how to fix this?

Open the Start Menu, go to All Programs - Accessories , right-click
Command Prompt , and select Run as administrator . In Command Prompt, type the following:
sfc /scannow
and press Enter. Let it run until it completes. Does it find any problems, and if so, is it able to fix them? Do you still get the messages afterwards?

Problem with Windows Media Player -- saving, transferring

Operating system: Windows 7 Home Premium
Product: HP Pavilion P6000 Series
Windows Media Player
Copy short videos onto a thumbnail drive from a different computer running Windows 7 with Windows Media Player. Thumbnail drive accepts files, lists and can play back fine on same computer. Take thumbnail drive to different computer also running/using Windows Media Player & Windows 7, and playback only plays back audio -- no picture. What am I doing wrong?

As WMP is not a DVD player, my suggestion would be to tell your clients to never use WMP.All our DVD discs go out with a warning not to allow WMP to be used.
In most computer setups, WMP does not play back video correctly as it does not have an MPEG codec installed, or has navigational problems.
All computers that have a DVD drive fitted, will have a dedicated DVD software player installed, such as Win DVD or Power DVD, so why not use that?

Video background appears in Windows Media Player on Internet Explorer

I am using a template at the moment and when I test it in IE, the video background appears in a windows media player window and te site doesnt appear - any ideas why this happens please?
It appears correctly in Chrome and Firefox

Apple iPod 7th Generation not seen in Windows Media Player

Windows Media player does not recognise my ipod nano 7th generation. Itunes and my windows 7 home premium does see my ipod. Is there a new driver that I can download without going through a third party? I want to use windows Media player.

I have Treo Pro trying to sync with my library in WMP 11... I'm getting error "C00D118E: You device is using an outdated driver that is no longer supported by Windows Media Player"... Tried to install pTune with no luck... Tried to Google it with no luck...
Connecting the other device "i-mate Ultimate 9502" with no issues even using same memory cardin Palm Treo Pro...
My temporary solution is to put the memory card in the 9502, sync my multimedia files and then reinsert it in Treo Pro... You help is highly needed and appreciated...

How do I fix this?

That would probably be a question best taken up in on a site for Windows support questions. Not knowing anything about the movie you're trying to play, all I can suggest is to confirm that the format of the movie you wish to play is supported in your version of WMP. If it isn't, you'll either need to convert the movie or use some other player software.

I am getting an error saying "Your computer doesn't seem to support any version of Media Player". When I look at my list of plugins I do see that I have Window Media Player Firefox Plugin 1.0.0.8. Why am I getting this error?

I am trying to load a page & I get the error "Your computer doesn't seem to support any version of Media Player". I then go to the tools & to add ons & to plugins. There under the plugins is Windows Media Player Firefox Plugin 1.0.0.8. It is enabled. My question is what does this error mean? Do I have the Media Player I need or not?

What output formats support the play speed settings on a PC using windows media player?
Here is my need. I need to take my video clips with me on my small PC and view them at slow speed. My playback PC is small and a little slow, so I cant have a very high bitrate. It uses an ATOM processor. It uses windows media player. I noticed the slow playback option is available in some formats when opened with windows media player, other formats--feature not available. What are the best output settings to save my clips on my small PC?

OS = XP-Pro SP3
Intel Core2 Quad 2.66GHz
RAM = 4GB
Graphics chip = nVidia GeForce 8800M (recent, but not latest nVidia driver)
I/O = 3x SATA II 7200 RPM 250GB
Virtual Memory = Static 10GB on D:\
WMV's play pretty well in both Slo-Mo and at about 2-3x speed

Windows 7 explorer.exe Error "No such interface supported"

Hello, i have encountered a problem with the Windows 7 RC. I have instaled it a while back and it seemed to work ok.
Yesterday I installed IE 7 Standalone . The newly instaled IE7 did't work so i uninstaled it.
I think that the previous operation messes something up in the registry because now when i try to duble click any folder i get : explorer.exe "No such interface supported". The same thing happens when i try to open Control Panel, or Add Remove Programs and other System utilities (the title zone reads something like : "::{26EE0668-....}\0\::{...}")
If i right click a folder and select open it works ok.
I have sfc /scannow but with no success.
Unfotunately i haven't made a system restore point previousely.
Is there any way i can fix the problem or must i reinstall?

And we are using HLS streaming on this.
Streaming works but stopped after every 2 minutes.

OS is window10, Metro APP is Xbox or MultiMedia 8; any video format will occur error only by following steps:
a. Put Audio / Media / Photo files into USB thumb disk or Micro SD card.
b. Connect USB thumb disk / Micro SD Card to Platform.
c. Open 'File Explorer', click USB thumb disk.
d. Open audio file with metro app: Music. / Open Media file with metro app: Video./Open Photo file with metro app.

Information is often stored as tags embedded in the file. WAV does not support tagging. I don't know how WMP works but iTunes keeps its own database about media. For many audio formats, track information will be stored both in iTunes' database and in the file itself as tags. With formats such as mp3 most tags (not all) will 'travel' with the file when copied. This does not happen with WAV where the information is only stored in the player application's database.

Problems with Windows Media Player for OSX and IMAC G5 Intel Duo

I was able to download Windows Media Player 9 for Mac but when I surf on the net and I click on the WMP files, instead of opening automatically, it downloads the content and only then lets me open it.
Also, with live streaming, when I click for the window to open it will say that: "Some content on this page requires an Internet plug-in that Safari doesn’t support. The application “Windows Media Player” may be able to display this content. Would you like to try?".
Except that I already downladed WMP... It worked fine with the PowerPc G5 so it must be the Intel chip. Please help.

Microsoft has abandoned WMP for the Mac and has ceased development. You may wish to consider and alternative!
WMP 9 for Mac is not a Universal binary, so it does not run natively on Intel iMacs. It runs using Rosetta. If the WMP plugin is installed in HD/Library/Internet Plugins/ for it to run usable by Safari you must be using Safari with Rosetta.
I have two versions of Safari, Safari - Uni & Safari - Rose, Uni runs natively and Rose uses Rosetta. To make a Rose version;
1. Right-click Safari and choose Duplicate
2. Rename the copy whatever you like to tell it from the other; ex: Safari - Rose
3. Right-click Safari - Rose and choose Get Info
4. In the top pane of the Info window check the box Run using Rosetta.
You need to use Safari -Rose for websites with WMP multimedia material to get it to play in the browser.
There are also WMP replacements that you can use with Safari such as Flip4Mac and others. Here is a Discussion that covers many of the alternatives;
