No support for my time zone in iCal

We recently changed to daylight savings time here in New Zealand. iCal dosen't seem to know about that, the only time zone it can find for here is 'New Zealand Standard Time' (NZST).
NZST is GMT+12, what I need is New Zealand Daylight Time. NZDT is GMT+13. The issue is causing problems when I sync to my phone, all the times are 1 hour off.
In Apple system prefs Time & Date it can quite happily find NZDT, but for some reason my iCal version 4.0 only has NZST.
Actually this was never a problem last year when I had OS X 10.5, but I've since upgraded to Snow Leopard and now the problem has started.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Oliver

Oliver,
In System Preferences
select Date and Time
deselect set automatically
make your changes manually
and hope Apple switches on to the changes in Paradise.

  • New_Time Zone not supporting for our time.

    Hi
There is a requirement for us to store the time in GMT.
    I am aware there is this function NEW_TIME(SYSDATE, 'EST', 'GMT');
But this supports very few time zones. I am in GMT+5:30. (INDIA)
Is there any other ready function available for convertion?
    If no,
How can i proceed to acheive this?
    Any help deeply appreciated.

  • How change 'home' time-zone in ical?

    Hi
Question ... how to change 'home' time-zone in ical?
I have just relocated countries ... to a different time zone.
I use time-zone support in iCal and add time-zone to various tasks.
But when i add a task and note it as my now current time-zone then ical immediately alters the diary placement to assume that i am in my old country/time-zone.
I have altered the region in Preferences/International but this seems to have no effect, in ical at least.
    guidance welcomed
    ross

In the very upper, right-hand corner of the iCal window is a time zone display, here you can choose to change your iCal time zone.
If you choose "other" from the time zone display's pop-up menu, you get a dialog just like the Date and Time System Preferences.
Why this option is not in the iCal preferences, I have no idea. To me, that would make a lot more sense!

  • Where can I find the appropriate text string for China Time zone?

    Hi,
Where can I find the appropriate text string for China Time zone?

    Hi,
The following timezone strings are supported in Oracle8i 8.1.7:
AST, ADT: Atlantic Standard or Daylight Time
BST, BDT: Bering Standard or Daylight Time
CST, CDT: Central Standard or Daylight Time
EST, EDT: Eastern Standard or Daylight Time
    GMT: Greenwich Mean Time
HST, HDT: Alaska-Hawaii Standard Time or Daylight Time.
MST, MDT: Mountain Standard or Daylight Time
    NST: Newfoundland Standard Time
PST, PDT: Pacific Standard or Daylight Time
YST, YDT: Yukon Standard or Daylight Time
Since your's isn't one of these, I'm hoping this is in reference to the Web Agent's ORDWEBUTL package, in which case, you can use an offset from GMT instead. For example, here in New Hampshire, USA, we are 5 hours behind GMT, so the offset would be -5, while in France, it would be +1 as they are one hour in front of GMT. According to my Windows clock, Beijing is GMT +8. Of course, you'll have to figure daylight-savings time into the equation, if you have to deal with such changes.

  • How to calculate for diffrent time zones

I have a simple clock that shows the current time using the
get.Time command. My problem is this. I'm in the central time zone.
So to calculate Pacific time I subtract 2 hours from hours like so
    "hours = mydate.getHours() - 2 ;" So if it is 2pm central it
should be 12pm in the pacific. Doing my method will show that it is
12am when it is not. How can I fix this? Thanks in advance. Below

    time zones.

    Hi
When you use any of the Date functions in Flash its
referenced to the LOCAL SYSTEM Time/Date.
So when you have a visitor in London it shows their time
LOCAL SYSTEM (PC) time and in Sydney it shows their LOCAL SYSTEM
(PC) time etc, etc. No need to calculate anything.
    Hope it helps

  • Application for multiple times zones?

I have a world edition and travel quite a bit.  Anyone know of any application out there that allows one to schedule  events in more than one time zone?   What would be best is a program that allows me to enter something in my calendar that then allows me to select which time zone that event will occur in.  Barring that perhaps there is a clock program that allows me to at least see three or more times simultaneously.

There is no software that I no of (RIM should take notice as it's a problem with the device itself).
I have faced the same problem and I can give you half a solution. What I do is enter the apointment based on the + or minus of the GMT schedule for the time zone I'm going to be in. Of course it will be incorrect in your present time zone. However, when you change the BB clock for the new time zone all your appointments will show up at the correct time.
    Good Luck,

  • How do I set up calendar events that will be for another time zone? My events shift once I travel

How do I set up calendar events that will be for another time zone? My events shift once I travel. The same is true when I am traveling and in another time zone, how do I best set up my events so they are in the correct time slot upon my return?

Basically, if your client does not have a Mac then don't use iWeb to create the site. iWeb is Mac only and if a client wishes to make alterations, then they need the domain file.
If your client needs to update on a weekly basis, then why not consider using one of the online website creation packages where you can log in from any Mac or PC. This would be simpler and there are lots out there - Microsoft Office Live or Google or something like http://www.wix.com where you can create a site and use a domain name with it.
Look at the alternatives before using iWeb.

  • How to "In Effect" Turn Off Time Zone on iCal AND main computer

I am hopeful that this will help those of us who don't want to have any form of Time Zone on our computers or iCal. I read some of the other posts and see that it does not appear an option to completely turn off all Time Zones on the computer and iCal.
What I am thinking about doing, is trying to "Trick" my computer & ical into thinking it doesn't ever go anywhere and thus leaves all of my appointments where they are - no matter what time zone I am actually in.
I hope those of you more knowledgable can please help me see if this will work, or not?
I am hoping that by leaving Time Zone Support turned "Off" in iCal and leaving my computer at a 'manual' Mountain Time Zone (meaning I don't have it set to have it automatically set to the right time - I will set it manually), my appointments will stay put (not move around 8 hours when I go to Italy &/or back to the US)?
I can set the time "manually" to the correct time when I am in either US or Italy so my computer will reflect the current time, but still be set in Mountain Time Zone? Will the alarms still work on calendar events?
The only drawback I can see so far, is that all of the times on emails are messed up (i.e., off by 8 hours) when I am actually in Italy because I still do have the main computer time zone set as Mountain Time - US.
I am willing to live with this (I think?) if it leaves my appointment times alone.
Someone on a similar thread had wanted iCal to function like a paper planner - that is exactly what I am looking for as well! (it looked like that thread was a bit older, so that's why I posted this new question. It is my first on this type of forum, so forgive me if I am doing something wrong - and please advise! :~)
    PowerBook G4   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

I am being driven crazy by, what I suppose to be, the same issue. I have used the Time Zone Support feature to somewhat limited success.
I frequently travel between different time zones am confused on how to set up iCal to show the times of my events *in the place where they occur*. When I am in LA and I have a concert in Chicago later in the week, I don't need to know what time the Chicago concert is in LA.
Syncing my Treo 650 adds another problem. Publishing the calendars adds another as the published times are not listed in the time zone where the events occur but rather what time zone my laptop is in.
This seems simple to me, but I may be missing something. Here are my wishes:
    1. As I travel with my MacBook Pro that I can change my Date and Time preference to actually list the time zone where I am. Easily done...but...
    2. That the event times in iCal are unaffected by the changing of the Date and Time preference adjustment...(after all the concert in Chicago is still at 3pm on Friday, even if I am in Tokyo on Monday. I need to know the time of the Chicago concert in Chicago time, not Tokyo.)
    3. That calendars that I publish list the time in the place where the event occurs. I have students that need to know their lesson times but are consantly confused because the published times reflect whatever time zone I happen to be in...not where the lessons take place.
    4. That when I sync my Treo the event times automatically adjust to whichever time zome the treo picks up off the network time server. When I land in a new time zone, I need to know the the rehearsal starts at 10, in the city where I have just arrived.
I have recently switched to the Apple PIM apps from Entourage...where, if I never changed the time zone, everything was fine.
Sorry for the longish cry for help.
    Thanks

  • Time Zone Vs. iCal Events

I just moved from LA to NYC and when I changed the time zone on my Mac all of my iCal events switched to three hours earlier. I have up to ten events nearly every day for the next several months and can not go in and change them one by one. Can someone let me know if there is a comprehensive quick fix to this?

I know this will sound strange but, go to ICAL/Preferences/Advanced and uncheck"Turn on time zone support" . That worked for me when we moved from NJ to CA. Good luck.

  • Change display time zone in iCal?

    Hello-
I just moved from the east coast to the west coast. I have Time Zone Support turned on in iCal, and I've set my time zone to Pacific Time in the OS X Date & Time Control Panel. Nevertheless, when I create a new event, it defaults to eastern time and I have to change it, and all my appointment times are displaying with their EDT time in iCal. The time is "correct" -- that is, if I create an event at 12:30 pm it displays in iCal as happening at 3:30 pm EDT -- but it's very annoying. See the screenshot for what I'm talking about. Any help would be very helpful!

Several settings in Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars affect Calendar and your calendar accounts. These include:
Syncing of past events (future events are always synced)
Alert tone played for new meeting invitations
    Default calendar for new events
    Default time for alerts
Calendar time zone support, to show dates and times using a different time zone

  • How does one remove or uncheck a time zone in iCal (Mountain Lion)?

In my Calendar, I have a list of time zones that I can select.
Is there a way to remove one for the drop down list?

    Hi,
Not in the Calendar.app interface. You can remove the entire list by running the follwing Terminal command. You can then re-add the ones you want. Quit Calendar Copy the following single line into the Terminal (Applications > Utilities > Terminal.app) and press return.
    defaults delete com.apple.iCal 'PersistentMenu-lastUsedTimeZones'
Let us know how it goes.

    Hi Mina.
Mail doesn’t support Exchange accounts directly, but rather accesses them as IMAP accounts. According to Mail Help’s “Setting up your email accounts” article:
For Exchange to work with Mail, Exchange administrators need to configure the Exchange server for IMAP access.
