No surround sound for Chuck Versus First Class?

After seven episodes (weeks) were aired, Chuck, Season 3 was finally made available. Did some catching up with the seven episodes and realized that Episode 5 - Chuck Versus First Class has no surround sound track. Pretty inconsistent with the rest of the episodes. Tried to report it via iTunes Store Support but the Chat Support seems down.

Same here - Vista, iTunes 8.2.1, using Intel HD Audio HDMI connection to receiver - no surround sound from HD TV show; stereo track ok.
Anyone having luck with Dolby Digital 5.1 on Windows? I read one report of successful surround sound on Mac OS X with 8.2.1.

  • Surround Sound For the Mac?

Hello. I use my PC for games, I have a Creative Labs Xi-Fi card and 7.1 surround sound speakers there. I'd like the same quality on my Mac for movies, but especially for WoW. Is there a sound card or other surround sound solution for the Mac?

Hello, frustrated!! I empathize with you totally!! I own one Dell and 4 Mac's (for my creative work) including one top of the line MacPro, and I, too, have the 5.1 (and beyond!) sound problem issue. I agree with you that it is terrible that, in my case, after spending $12,000 for this bleeding edge technology, it only comes with stereo capability! When I used my older G-4, I was extremely happy for years with the Revolution 7.1 Surround Sound Card, by a great company called M-Audio. This card worked seamlessly right out of the box.....the software was so easy to use, too. So, naturally I was really shocked and bummed out a few months ago, when I learned from their tech support and sales team there, that no, this card will NOT work on the MacPro.
From the M-Audio website: Re: Apple Intel Mac Pro & DualCore PowerMac G5 desktop compatibility:
The new Intel based Mac Pro desktop computers, as well as the latest generation DualCore PowerMac G5's, have PCI-Express slots, and not PCI or PCI-X (Like the Delta/Revolution Series cards). Not only are the data rates on PCI-Express different from PCI/PCI-X, but PCI-Express uses serial data transfers versus PCI/PCI-X transferring its data in a parallel fashion. For these reasons, a PCI-Express type motherboard connector (or "slot") is physically different from a PCI or PCI-X type connector. Therefore a PCI-Express adapter will not physically fit in a PCI or PCI-X slot, and vice-versa. This is true regardless of the adapter card's manufacturer.
All of our current USB and FireWire interfaces are compatible with the new Intel Based Mac Pro and late model DualCore PowerMac G5 computers.
    Please use their link: http://www.m-audio.com/index.php?do=products.family&ID=recording
Of course, I prefer the efficient elegance of an internal card, rather than an external box providing more desktop clutter, but at least this is a solution for us! Best of luck to you!!

  • No Surround Sound for TV shows purchaced on iTunes

When I hook up my PowerBook to my surround sound system, I can't get TV shows and movies downloaded from iTunes to play in surround sound, only mono from the center speaker. All other downloaded or mounted video media, (i.e. avi, or mp4, or DVD files) work great. I can also get surround of my iTunes music via airport streaming so I don't think it is the computer. Just iTunes files don't work. Does anyone have this problem or have a solution?
    Thanks.

Try downloading a free video from the iTunes Music Store and see if it works.
Try downloading the free song of the week from the iTMS and see if that works.

  • Hooking up MBP to home theater receiver: Surround sound for games?

I'm looking for a way to hook up my MBP to my home theater receiver to play games in surround sound. From what I've read, it sounds like the digital optical out will only provide 5.1 sound for DVDs, not games.
I have also read about the Griffin Firewave which supposedly provides 5.1 sound from the firewire port...however, it looks like there are five separate outputs from that device (center, and both front and rear speakers), and my receiver's inputs are not arranged in this way, so I don't think this will work for my setup.
Anyone know of a way to do this successfully? It's looking like it's not possible, but wanted to see if there were any solutions I was missing. Thanks!

  • Surround sound for A305-S6872

    Greetings!
I want to use my computer to send a 5.1 surround sound signal to my Onkyo receiver. I have a headphone jack-sized SPDIF port, which I think allows for surround output.
Additionally, when I tested my Realtek digital output device, the green lights go on but I have no sound (which I'm thinkin' may be a result of the wrong cables I'm using, headphone to RCA).
What do I need and how do I make my computer output surround sound?
    Thanks!

Surround sound mixing is done in Soundtrack Pro. FCP isn't capable of surround mixing.

  • Surround Sound for Film

I am mixing surround sound (5.1) for an independent feature film.  I will be mixing in Soundtrack Pro 3, then sending the file to the producer who is using Final Cut Studio Pro.  Ultimately the DVD will be burned in DVD Studio Pro.
    1.  I need to know the exact file transfer details.  What files types do I send from Soundtrack Pro to Final Cut, then from Final Cut to DVD Studio?  I want to make sure I'm not "re-enconding" anything, and that I ultimately end up with the correct file type on DVD.
    2.  I plan to do a separate stereo mix.  How do I make sure my DVD is encoded for a 5.1 surround mix, AND a stereo mix?

I have the Artist Mix, the Artist Control, and the Transport. The transport controls don't work... they jump in approx 1-minute intervals instead of going frame-by-frame. Avid says I need to set up the systems on a static IP address. We'll see if that works. The transport control on the Artist Control surface is pitiful. The pan buttons on the Mix are unusable.

  • 5.1 Surround Sound for Soundtrack Pro

    Hi,
I was wondering if anyone knew how it was possible to creat a 5.1 mix in Sountrack Pro. I am a filmmaker and wanted to create some interesting and atmospheric sounds that utilized surround sound.
    Thanks very much!!

A month ago there was a report that surround is included in FPC6 studio, due in april with a special FCP extreme ($10.000),
here is the link, read it quick, it's not the first time I've posted this on the apple sites

  • Surround sound for iMac

I have Creative Inspire 4.1 4400 (http://static.clickbd.com/global/classified/item_img/895644_0_original.jpg), and I would like to get surround sound from speakers when I watch movies. I have done some research for some time, and I have no idea how to connect this to iMac.
The speaker system has green and black cables (3.5mm). For now, I only have green cable connected to iMac, and I somehow get sound from all 4 speakers + subwoofer. But it is not a true surround effect since the sounds from rear speakers are the same as front speakers.
This is what the speaker system looks like: http://img140.imageshack.us/img140/995/dsc02837n.jpg
So, what do I need to get to have surround sound on iMac?

Here is the video of the set-up: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HKA7nbdyAaQ&feature=youtu.be
Again, this is what my speaker is: http://static.clickbd.com/global/classified/item_img/895644_0_original.jpg
Here is the picture of the back of the subwoofer:http://img140.imageshack.us/img140/995/dsc02837n.jpg
The green cable is for front speakers while black cable is for rear speakers. It doesn't have a separate cable for subwoofer.
After doing some research, I've read that this speaker system is "not compatible with optical SPDIF sound cards." Is that related to the sound card I bought?

  • Introduction to Surround Sound for a noobie?

Is there any good tutorial on how I might make a modestly better surround mix? I'm not trying to win an Oscar here, or become a sound engineer. So simpler is better, please.
I've worked out a way to put surround sound into my HD movie, burn it to a DVD AVCHD using Toast, and get it all to play on a blu-ray player, Cool!! Looks great and has 5.1 Dolby Digital surround, all on a cheap DVD disk.
But now I realize I don't know jack about how to make it sound good. All I've tried so far is putting a stereo song into the surround speakers with the movie stereo in the fronts as usual. Cool, but it isn't exactly "immersive".
I think I might get a better result using an upmixing tool such as Upmix 1.1.1 from Cycling '74 (or is it KVR Audio?) to simulate 3D sound from my 2D source materials.
Has anyone tried something like this? Is it worth the bother? Any tips appreciated.

    Hi Gordon,
Welcome to the Apple.com discussion boards.
If you have a Powerbook with USB2.0, you could get one of these - http://www.smalldog.com/product/33122 (if they were in stock) - if you don't have USB2.0 and you do have a PC Card slot, you could get a USB2.0 PC Card and plug it into that..

  • Surround Sound for Blu Ray

Wondering how this is done... I take it using the Media Encoder and Encore?  Thanks.

PrPro cannot natively Export to DD 5.1 SS AC3. You must have the Minnetonka Audio SurCode DD 5.1 SS plug-in, or use other methods. If you do purchase the SurCode plug-in, do so from within PrPro, and you will get an Adobe-users' discount.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • How do I turn on surround sound (5.1) for all my iTunes items?

In iTunes, while a video is playing, I can go to Controls/Audio and Subtitles and select English (Surround Audio). This allows the sound to work with my 5.1 Dolby Digital audio setup.
It looks, though, like the only way to turn this on is to actually be playing the video. I have gone into iTunes and selected a whole set of videos, then selected the surround sound - but that didn't work. As soon as I played a video I hadn't played before, it was back to stereo, and I had to manually make the selection again. (Now, once I make the selection it sticks; I don't have to do it again. But, I still have to do it for each individual video.)
How can I "turn on" surround sound for all items that have it?

    1. Double-click the Home button and swipe Task Bar to the right
    2. Check the volume and mute settings

  • What software is available for mixing surround sound on a G4?

I'd like to mix surround sound for a videographer without having to upgrade from a G4 with 10.3.9. All the software (Cubase SX, Nuendo, Logic, etc.) seem to demand OS 10.4. Any ideas out there?

  • 5.1 Surround Sound Issue

    5. Surround Sound Issue <span class="Apple-style-span">This is very odd. I've just bought a PCI express Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium Sound Card and hooked it up to my pc. Next i got a digital cable and ran it from the xbox's Composite cable which has a socket for the Digital out and then put this into my sound card into the digital in. Next i turned on my xbox with the computer running and speakers on etc and i had full 5. surround sound for the intro xbox 360 video, now that i'm on the dashboard i have got no sound at all, and even when i went onto a game again i had no sound. Why would this be happening, every time i turn the xbox on the intro vid always has 5. from my speakers(these are running out from the sound card) and then after it always goes silent. Any ideas on what i can [email protected]

I want to share an update in case it helps anyone else.
I had downloaded and installed the Perian plug-in. (It installs in the preferences pane in the Mac's system settings.)
In previous versions of OS X, Perian was a sometimes essential to getting 5.1 surround from a Mac. I know I used it with great success in OS X 10.5 and 10.6.
However, I was having real troubles — some of them as I discussed above — with my sound preferences in 10.8.2.
After much mucking around, I stumbled upon the solution.
    I removed Perian.
I know have no trouble at all. I use either Handbrake, and more recently iVi Pro, to convert movies for iTunes. With Perian removed, the only change I need to make in some movies is to select the surround sound track. Mac OS X will automatically change the settings if necessary in the MIDI player, and my Marantz NR 1603 does the rest.
If I play music, OS X changes the settings back to stereo, with no intervention.
The only setup that might be necessary for anyone else is to ensure that your MIDI player is set for your HDMI or optical audio (TOSLINK) device to use 48kHz.

  • IPhone 5 audio issues when paired with surround sound via Bluetooth.

iPhone 5 has developed audio issues since ios7 updates when its connected to surround sound system via Bluetooth. Audio jumps and skips in erratic and unpredictable manner on music app and worse on third party apps such as YouTube  . Have restored phone from factory settings etc. Have also checked surround sound for fault with Bluetooth; iPhone 4 ios7 works fine, android works fine but newest iPod touch with ios7 appears to have developed same issue as iPhone 5 since ios7 updates. Advise people to check for this issue on their Bluetooth devices and any advice would be appreciated on this issue  :)

    Hey there Vxas,
It sounds like you are gettings some very unexpected behaviour from the iPhone to your bluetooth surround sound system. I would try the troubleshooting recommended in this article:
iOS: How to troubleshoot Bluetooth connections
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4562
Check that you are in range of the Bluetooth device with which you are trying to pair your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. Most Bluetooth devices have a range of approximately 30 feet.
On your iOS device, tap Settings > Bluetooth and find your device in the list. If your device says Not Connected, tap the name of your device to attempt to connect it.
Tap Settings > Bluetooth and turn Bluetooth off and then on again.
Make sure that your Bluetooth accessory is turned on and fully charged or connected to power.
    Restart your iOS device.
Tap Settings > Bluetooth and locate the Bluetooth accessory you are currently connected to or attempting to connect to. Then tap and Forget this Device. Try to pair your Bluetooth accessory again.
Note: You may need to re-enter your Bluetooth accessory PIN if your accessory requires one. Some common PINs are 0000, 1111, and 1234.
Restart your Bluetooth accessory by turning it off and then on again1.
Update your device to the latest version of software. See how to update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
If your Bluetooth accessory has upgradeable firmware, check to see that you have the latest version1, 2.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Take care,
    Sterling

  • ???????????HOW TO GET SURROUND SOUND ON MACBOOK???????????????????????

I have a macbook osx 10.5.8. I purchased some Logitech X-540 5.1 surround sound speakers to hook up to my laptop. There are 3 cables (an orange, green, and black) that come from the different speakers/subwoofer that are supposed to plug into the computer, but i can only plug in 1 of the 3 into the headphone jack my macbook. Here's some pics of the speakers:
    http://techgage.com/print/logitechx-540_51speakers
When I do so, only some of the speakers play, not all of them. I went to BestBuy and asked someone if surround sound is possible for a macbook, but he said "no". I have seen online many people claiming it is possible to get 5.1 surround sound for mac, but haven't figured out how. Can someone please be of some assistance????

Since you only want to play CD's why not just use the two for the normal Left/Right channels your CD was created with?
If you want to use ALL of your speakers, you'll need to invest in a USB or Firewire device that will connect to your Macbook and then allow you to connect all your speakers.
