No Sync and Duplicate contacts

Hi.
PC Suite is not working for me. New Outlook contacts are not making it into the phone. Also the contact folder I can see in the phone browser on my PC contains duplicates for all contacts but there are no duplicates in my phone.
Very frustrated. This started happening a while back but a rebuild of my PC seemed to fix it. Now it is happening again. I suspect my Phone is confused.
Using Nokia 6822 with WinXP Pro Sp2.

PC Suite = is the whole application
PC Sync = Synchronise icon in PC Suite launcher. This is used to synchonise with Outlook.
If you now use "Contacts" icon to empty the contacts from phone, it will not work and the reason is the same as with PC Sync (the synchronise button which syncs with Outlook), the phone sync is "stuck".
Just try to use the PC Sync and create new settings, PC Sync will check the contacts and I would expect minimal amount of dublicates if you choose update in both directions.

  • Icloud sync created duplicate contacts...can't get rid of them

Ever since I began syncing my iPhone via iCloud, multiple entries have popped up in my Contacts.  In some cases I'll have 4 or 5 duplicate Contacts when I started with just one.  I tried deleting them manually (which took forever) but they just come back.
I tried shutting off iCloud sync and doing it the old way, but I realized that many contacts were missing.  (i.e. I must have deleted them from locations other than iCloud, and that's the only place where they reside now.)
I feel stuck.  This is very frustrating.  iCloud was supposed to make my life easier and it's screwing things up.  Any suggestions?
PS - I have an iMac running OS X 10.8.4 and an iPhone 5.

My Contacts Backup Pro has a 4+ rating, but it's up to you if you want to try it or not.  If you haven't done so already, you might want to take a look at Apple's KB article on duplicate iCloud contacts: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4147.  It's not a very common problem, and can be caused by things like attempting to sync contacts with both iCloud and iTunes.
If you have cleaned up your contacts only to see duplicates reappear on their own, you might need to get iCloud support to help you with this one as it's a rare problem.  Then may need to have a senior engineer take a look at your account to determine what's causing it.

  • Multiple address books and duplicate contacts issue

    Hi all!
I set up two email accounts in my BB, one is GMail and the other is Yahoo! Both address books are synchronized to the BB too.
Since I already had contacts in my BB list and now contacts coming from GMail and Yahoo!, there are now some duplicate entries (i.e. the same person name coming from BB contacts list and from Yahoo!).
Is there any way to automatically/programatically clean up, merge or hide the duplicated entries? Ideally, each contact should be shown only once with the data merged from the different sources.
Thanks in advance for your help to figure this out!!!

In your Address Book options, set it to not include duplicate names (And the names have to exactly alike), then use your Yahoo or Gmail address web accounts to delete the duplicates. That's one way.
Another would be to export all your contacts to something like an excel spreadsheet, edit and resync back to the device. You'll need Desktop Manager to do this.

  • Blackberry Z10 will no longer Sync and Sympatico Contacts and calendar have disappeared

Two weeks ago my sympatico email stopped on my blackberry. The email was uninstalled and reinstalled and the contacts and calendar disappeared and the phone stopped synconizing . When the email is loaded on another Z10 the contacts and calendar come in. The issue appears to have happened after an update.Restoring the phone to factory settings did not help. I can get all other emails to load including contacts and email. Does anyone have a solution other than getting rid of this phone.
Sympatico does not appear to be an issue as I can load the email on other blackberry devices and have loaded it on another Z10 with no issue.
I have made called to Blackberry and they keep pushing me back to Bell but based on the tests above it seems to be a Blackberry issue not sure how to resolve and frustrated.

    Two thoughts.
When you did the factory reset the wise thing to have done would be add the email and test before restoring and reinstalling apps. If the problem is corrupt settings or data, you might end up restoring the problem. Testing beforehand gives you an whether or not the stock software install is ok.
If you didn't test with clean device, I would do a security wipe or repeat the reset to factory and test.
If you did test on clean device, then I would do a clean OS install, and test.
In my opinion the issue is software, one way or the other. You may want to go straight to clean OS install.

  • Address book sync creates duplicate contacts imported from .cvs file

Contacts on my iPod are weird--there are duplicate entries for some people, but one of the duplicates contains only email addresses whereas the other has all the remaining info. Everything seems normal in Addresss Book--no duplicates, and all the info. is there. Not all of my contact entris have this this duplication/split info. problem. Those that have the problem were originally imported into Address Book from an Excel .cvs file. I also sync with a Motorola Razr and the same names were duplicated fully on the phone, with each entry having all the phone numbers that should have been synced. Anyone know what's going on or how to fix this?

Hi and welcome to the BlackBerry Forums
I never hear this, but try this.
If you have all the correct data in outlook, my suggestion is wipe the device (all the data is erased) and synch the device again.
To wipe the device go to menu,  options, security options, general options, press menu, and wipe handheld.
If I help you with any inquire, thank you for click kudos in my post.
If your issue has been solved, please mark the post was solved.

  • Syncing and duplicates

I'm syncing the iPhone with iCal (iCal is synced with Entourage in the i Mac).
I have duplicates all over the place, but on some contacts or events only :
    - for contacts, I don't see any logic, but I see in some contacts 5 times the same phone number or email
    - for events, it duplicates mostly (but not only) recurring events.
And it does so each time I sync. You may imagine the mess I get.

One thing that might help out.
When syncing the iphone with entourage, there is a 2 step process.
1 is the iphone syncs with ical.
    2 ical syncs with entourage.
One way to look at this is to find out where the duplicates are being created.
You might want to try disabling calendar syncing between ical and entourage.
Now clean up the data in ical.
Sync the iphone with ical replacing all the calendar data on the iphone.
The option for replacing is found in the advanced section of the info tab when the iphone is connected with itunes.
Test for a little while to see if duplicates are showing up.
Now turn on calendar syncing between ical and entourage.
This will create an entourage calendar in ical.
    Sync with the iphone.
Test and see if duplicates start showing up.
Also, on the iphone there is a default calendar you can set in Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
    Hope this helps.

  • ICal syncs and duplicates events

When I use the 'sync iCal to mobileme the appointments are duplicated in my iPhone. How can I stop this duplication problem?

    farrier1,
Open "Settings" on the iPhone>Mail, Contacts, Calendars, Bookmarks>Accounts>your MobileMe account and turn off Calendars, when prompted delete data, and wait two minutes, then turn Calendars back on. When asked merge the data, make that choice, and wait patiently. You should no longer have duplicates. If you are able, I recommend using a Wi-Fi connection to make the change.
    Good Luck.

  • Sync and duplicates

I finally have my iTunes library setup exactly how I want it.  The problem is the my touch is not syncing my library EXACTLY as it appears in my iTunes causing duplicates (folders, albums, and songs).  Re-syncing isn't fixing the issue.

Go to file on iTunes and press display duplicates
I'm fairly sure there is more subtle problem at hand. The dupes only appear on the device, not in iTunes.

  • How do i set up my mac, iPad and iPhone so that when i delete mail on one it syncs and deletes it from the others at the same time?

Hi, how do i set up my iMac, iPad and iPhones so that when i delete an e-mail (or other action) from one it automatically syncs and duplicates the action on the other devices?

You need an IMAP-type email service rather than a POP-type mail service. IMAP automatically does what you want. Contact your email provider to see if they offer IMAP.

  • Sync & back up contacts?

Can I use the Backup Assistant
    I have ~7,000 contacts
    iPhone 4
    Normally I sync to Outlook.
Please don't let me do this to find 7,000 duplicates on my phone.
My Blackberry would time out before sync was complete.

Thank you for your inquiry. The Backup Assistant is not compatible with iPhone 4. If you are a current Backup Assistant user, you can use VZ Contact Transfer to move your contacts over to iPhone 4. You can use iTunes to sync your contacts to your iPhone 4. For more information on syncing and transferring contacts with iTunes, refer to the “Syncing with iTunes” page.
Just to add, assuming that you are coming from a Backup Assistant capable device you can use VZ Contact Transfer to transfer from the old device to the iPhone but you have to have WiFi disabled according to the App info in the app store.

I currently use an iPhone, an iPad, and a Mac computer for business.  The three devices have Contacts Managers that sync with each other through both Google and through Mobile Me.  Currently, this has created a mess of duplicate contacts.  Please advise me on the steps necessary for removing these duplicates and establishing a syncing solution that doesn't regenerate the duplicates.  There are several applications available that remove duplicates, but I am not sure which ones work or don't work.  I want information on this, but most importantly I want to understand how to fix this problem permanently.  Also, I read somewhere that Mac's new operating system, Lion, can help deal with duplicates.  I don't have Lion, but I would be willing to get it, if this would fix the problem.

Had the same problem with 4 devices (two computers, an iPhone and an iPod). The solution is simple: open the Address Book application in your mac, ask it to locate duplicate entries (under one of the top menu items, "edit" I think), and then ask it to consolidate them: it took me all of three seconds after I figured it out: worked like a charm! PS: if you have more than one mac with unconected Address Books, repeating the operation in the second one may be a good idea.

    Solutions?

No, I never really found an easy solution.  I believe it is an issue with some corruption in the iTunes database on the specific device.  In my case, both my iPad and iPhone now show duplicate stream songs if viewed through iTunes on my Mac, but they show different songs.  A couple years ago I had a similar issue on my iPhone, and Apple support suggested I back up the phone, completely reset it, and then restore it from the backup.  It did work, so I imagine it would probably work for my current issues with the iPhone and iPad.  But resetting and restoring an iPad or iPhone always makes me a little nervous that something will get lost.  When I did reset/restore the iPhone, I do have to say, the restore process was 100% perfect and I did not lose any data at all even though Apple support said I might.  If you try to go that route, I would suggest backing the device up both to a computer through iTunes, and to the iCloud so that you have a double backup.
None of this really resolves the issue with how the iTunes databases are becoming corrupted on the apple devices though, so it is very likely to happen again until they fix it.  I have been unable to determine if there were any specific actions or conditions which caused the corruption to happen in the first place.
Might be worth another call to Apple support, or dropping in the local Apple store if you have one near by.

  • Deleted duplicate contacts from icloud and want to sync updated contacts to iphone and ipad?

    Can anyone help with this?
Deleted duplicate contacts from icloud and want to sync updated contacts to iphone and ipad?  Did it on icloud cause have duplicates on ipad and iphone also

Check icloud.com to be sure you contact list is correct there.  If it is, just go to Settings>iCloud on your device and turn Contacts to On to sync the contacts to your device.  If contacts are already set to On and you still see duplicates, you may be viewing a duplicate contact group in addition to the iCloud contacts.  Open Contacts, tap Groups, then tap any groups other than iCloud to uncheck them, then tap Done.  See if the duplicates are still there.

  • ICloud not syncing and Contact problems with merging duplicates

I was having problems with the syncing of my notes app. When I got the iphone 5 I had since using Mountain Lion I had started to make use of the fact that the notes sync across iCloud. Great. Although not for long. Everything was going fine notes were syncing across devices but then spontaneously they stopped syncing for no apparent reason. I then went to look in settings, looked online and all through discussion forums. Switching notes on and off on icloud both on the macbook and on my iphone. Restarting devices etc etc. iCloud itself online was not able to access the notes app. I kept getting error messages that I would submit to apple. Then I finally relqinquished and unhooked the iCloud accounts from the computer and phone. And at the sacrifice of losing albums in my photostream they sprung back to syncing.
Then the real problem happened. I had selected to keep a copy of my address book in contacts when I unhooked my computer just in case. When everything linked back up again, I then had duplicates in my address book. Not 1 (this can happen just having icloud active) but 5 sets of duplicates, granted I had kept a version from when I unhooked. So I looked around again for how I could quickly and easily get rid of duplicates. Following suggestions online I go into contacts>cards>look for duplicates. I had 1200 or somthing duplicates, so naturally when given the option "would you like to merge the info in these duplicates I click yes. The MacBook starts to chugg away. Its gonna take a while. So I come back later. And before returning to CONTACTS, go to send a message from MESSAGES and I notice that 80% of the threads have no name. I go back to CONTACTS and WHAM 100s of contacts disappeared in the merge never to be retrieived again. You cant restore CONTACTS from Time Machine as it is just mirrors the contacts that you have in present time. Restoring phone doesn't work becasue it just downloads from iCloud after it has restored. TOTALLY RIDICULOUS. I am livid.

what I mean is - create a complete new contact on your contacts and select a picture for it from your Mac. Then set it as "make this my card"
Once you have done that - presumably it will sync with iCloud - have a look and the contact should appear on your iPhone too.
On your iPhone go on Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendar> Under "Contacts: in "My Info" select That new contact you created on your Mac.
Let me know if that works.
-On another note, so what you are saying is, if I take my 15' Macbook Pro in and they have none of the old ones in stock, they just give you a Retina display one! Did you take it to them for the contact issue you were having or something else?

  • Syncing with itunes and icloud caused duplicate contacts

I used icloud once to update phone - now have duplicate contacts on both phone and computer - I seem to be able to delete the duplicates on computer 10 at a time which is annoying, but when I go to sync with the iphone, the duplicates are still on the phone - I have tried using the Advanced setting to have the contacts on iphone replaced with what is on the computer but it does not delete the duplicates.

When syncing contacts over the air with your iCloud account and direct with a supported address book application on your computer, contacts on your iPhone will be duplicated.
On your iPhone go to Settings > iCloud.
Turn Contacts off for over the air syncing. A warning message will be provided indicating this will remove all your iCloud online contacts from your iPhone. If you are provided a prompt to save these contacts locally on your iPhone, decline the prompt. This will not remove the contacts stored locally on your iPhone that were synced direct with the Address Book on your Mac via the iTunes sync process.
Remove all duplicates from the Address Book on your Mac. When you get the Address Book on your Mac how you want it, try selecting Contacts for replace info on this iPhone below the Advanced section under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes followed by selecting Apply and a Sync.
