No sync option in iTunes ?

The iTunes and iTV (v2) are 'paired' I can stream photos/music/movies from my itunes library to the iTV but I can NOT 'sync' ?? When I click AppleTV under devices there is only two tabs (General and Photos) unlike the 8 or so i see in most screen shots (the host is a Windows box running latest iTunes).
Whats up with this ?

When you click Apple TV under devices in ITunes under summary there are two choices. If you choose custom sync instead of automatic sync you will see all of the tabs. (At least on the Mac you do!) At the bottom right it says "sync". Click that to start the process of moving things to the Apple TV. Once you click it if you click again later to resync it will remove what it has already put on the Apple TV. If you close ITunes and use Apple TV it will show whatever content it has already synced, then when you restart ITunes it will continue the syncing process and while it is open your Apple TV can show all of it by streaming what it has not yet synced.

  • Sync options in iTunes

I sent the following to iTunes Feedback:
Since iTunes 9.2 has drastically slowed down backing up iPads & iPhones, I suggest that there be 3 sync options:
    1. Both backing up & syncing (as currently done)
    2. Backup Only option
    3. Sync Only option
The user could select which option to use each time with the current way as the default.

You can always click on the little X to right of where it says backing up. That will stop the back up and let you sync the ipod.

  • How do I transfer a single playlist to my iPhone 5 without using the sync option on iTunes version 11.0.4?

I'm having troubles transfering two new playlists I just created on my new MacBook Air to my iPhone 5. I have some music on my iPhone that isn't on my MacBook yet and I don't want to lose the music on my iPhone. How do I just transfer the playlists?
    HELP!

    Hi kailajeane,
Not sure I am understanding what type of music that is on your phone but not your Mac? Is it music you purchased from iTunes directly on your phone?
If so, then you can sync with your Mac - all you need to do is, before you sync, go to the iTunes Store on your Mac and click on Purchased under Quick Links. Then download the purchased music. Hook up your phone, and check your Music tab on the Device Profile and make sure you have everything you want to sync selected, and then Sync.
    Cheers.

  • Original Apple TV only shows "Photo" syncing options in iTunes. How do I get full functionality returned?

My Apple TV says it is fully updated, but in iTunes all the normal tabs (music, movies, etc) are gone. Only "Photos" tab remains.
I need to know if this product can be restored to proper functionality.

    In iTunes...
    Goto "Advanced" in the menu
    Click on "Photos to Share"
Then choose where you want to share photos from.

  • IPod Classic (6G 160GB) loses music sync settings in iTunes (10.5.2)

I have a 160 GB iPod Classic 6G that has been giving me some trouble over the last few months. Everytime I would try to sync it with iTunes (10.5.2), it would lock up and I would have to perform a hard reset to allow it to reboot and sync with the computer. This has been an annoyance, but a workaround.
A few weeks ago, I gave up on this lousy workaround and restored the iPod and synced my media. Note that all the media is on the same machine (iMac 24, Mac OS X (10.7)) and that the iPod is not being shared between two differnt computers. When I connect the iPod at the end of the day to get new podcasts, I notice that the Music Sync option in iTunes is no longer selected. If I select it, iTunes reports that the music on the iPod will be replaced with music from this computer, the same computer to which it has been synching all along. Selecting this button and starting over does not solve the problem as the button is unselected the next time it is connected and restoring the iPod does not solve the problem.
Anybody else have this problem and resolved it successfully?
Thanks for your time and consideration.
    -Steven

    hey  henke,
I , too , was wondering why the most important service that I was waiting for , was not available.... the check box for "music" does not appear.
It turns out that this service is ONLY available to users that have an AMERICAN iTunes account....
sadly , apple dons't say that and in the web site it seems that this sync service for music is availale for all.
I guess amd hope it will come to Europe soon. i myself have a German account in itunes

  • Wireless sync option not available on Itunes 10.5.  After updating my iphone to IOS 5, the "sync over wifi" option is not being displayed in itunes.

hi, I managed to update both Itunes and my ios to the latest versions (10.5 and 5 respectively).  I'm unable to see the "Sync over wifi" option in itunes.  Can anyone help?

Maybe that's why I got lucky?  I have 10.7.2.  I have to tell you howeer that I did not check any check box in settings on the Notebook to enable Wifi sync, or in iTunes on the notebook.  I did have options when setting up the iPad and I selected sync with computer rather than back up to cloud.   Maybe that is another difference?  I feel feel fortunate that as I type this my iPad is syncing over wifi and you're all having trouble.
Just to confirm I have iTunes 10.5  MacOSX 10.7.2 and iOS5 installed on the iPad.  I'm going to dive in and do the phone now too.  I will report any troubles, or pay more careful attention when the iCloud settings and set up come on the screen.  Maybe I did something else I don't remember.

  • Unable to sync new iPhone 4s. I have iTunes version 10.6.1. Using Windows 7. My device appears on iTunes but I am not able to select the sync option and it does not automatically start the sync option when plugged in. Ive tried reseting the device.

I am unable to sync my new iPhone 4s OR my iPod Touch 4 to iTunes.(this is the first time I am plugging them into iTunes) I have version 10.6.1. Both devices are up to date with the latest software version. Once I plug the device in, it is recognized on iTunes. The synce process does not start automatically. I am unable to select the sync option. I've tried reseting the device and restarting iTunes and the same problem happens. I have plugged in my husbands iPhone 3gs and the sync process starts automatically. I have also added my computer as an authorized computer for the new devices. What now?

    Many thanks.
With those symptoms, I'd try the following document:

  • After updating my iPhone 4 to iOS 5, I can see it in iTunes in the source list, but after selecting it, there is no summary or anything to configure my sync options. I just see 'iPhone' written. What can I do to fix this?

I just updated my iPhone and my iPad to iOS 5.
Restoring the backup just worked fine as well as syncing the music and videos, but my Apps weren't synced at all.
With my iPhone I got it done, after I installed some of my apps using the cloud and suddenly the all were installed during the next sync with my iTunes. All the stored data of my apps were on the iPhone, so I didn't loose anything.
But with my iPad, this didn't work as well. I seem to have to install all apps by my self from the cloud.
But my major problem is, that when I connect my devices to my Mac Book Air, they are shown in the source list, but except for showing 'iPhone' or 'iPad' I see nothing. I can't configure any sync options, so I am not able to do change or do anything.
When updated to iOS 5 I used to restore the backup from before updating my iPhone/iPad in iTunes.
    Thanks for your help.

You should be importing all pics taken with the iphone to your computer regularly as you would with any digital camera, particularly before any update or restore.
You should also be syncing your contacts to your computer regularly.  They hsould be in whatever program/service that you have selected to sync.
If you have failed to do this, then they are very likely gone.
You can try restoring from backup.

  • My iPhone has two identical options under "iTunes wi-fi sync" that are the same computer. I only have one user on my  computer, and I tried moving my iTunes file in Finder to organize it and now my library's not synced with my phone. Help?

My iPhone has two identical options under "iTunes wi-fi sync" that are the same computer. I only have one user on my computer, and I tried moving my iTunes file in Finder to organize it and now my library's not synced with my phone. Help?

I have the same problem. Right now my iPhone 5S shows 3 instances of the computer to which it is connected under Settings » General » iTunes WiFi Sync. I'm having problems connecting and syncing, and this is probably the cause: the phone chooses one of these connections, and it isn't the one that's actually in use. What's probably happening is that the phone and computer establish a connection using a dynamic IP address, the address becomes "disassociated" due to error, another address is associated, the phone retains each address/link, and each link is displayed as if it represents a separate computer (the fact that the name of the computer is identical is ignored, as the only thing that is considered important is the IP address). But that's all conjecture. More important, I'm not sure how to fix the problem. A network reset doesn't do it.

  • HT6437 My itunes cannot locate my ipod. All the sync option are grayed out and diagnostics says that itunes cannot find usb ports and that no device is connected when it is. What should I do to solve this issue?

So itunes is giving me problems. Since around Christmas time, itunes decided to stop reading my ipod. I connect it to my computer with the usb cable and my computer will recognize that a device is connected but itunes will not. If I go to file->devices and try to sync, all of my sync options are grayed out, while before it would just automatically sync.
When I run diagnostics it tells me that under ports that it cannot find usb ports (it has a green circle?), a type of cable isn't found, and that no device is connected with the usb cable (which my ipod is). I have been trying to fix this issue but nothing is working. I've tried restarting my ipod, itunes, and my computer, i've also tried resetting my ipod and uninstalling itunes then reinstalling itunes but nothing seems to be working.
Does anyone know how to solve this issue?

Do the USB ports work for other devices?
    Does the iPod charge?

  • Is there a way to activate the WiFi sync option without my device connected (iTunes/ PC cannot see my iPad 2)?

When I connect my device (iPad 2) to my PC via USB it isn't seen by both my PC and iTunes, it just charges so I know my USB isn't broke. I want to activate the WiFi sync option to sync my data on my iPad because I can't anymore. Earlier I had the option checked but I wanted to compare the speeds of syncing and I couldn't reactivate the setting.
I have looked around and I have seen not one helpful forum or thread, they all lead to this link: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1386
