No syncing of RSS feed bookmarks (Live bookmarks)

Hi,
I'm using Firefox Desktop 37 on windows, and Firefox 37 on an Android phone.
Using Firefox sync to sync only bookmarks, every "classic" bookmark and folder are perfectly synced between the two platforms.
However, all the RSS feeds (or Live bookmarks) are not synced. They simply do not appear (no empty folder or anything else).
Is this a "normal" behavior or is there a fix for this?
Thanks in advance.

I believe that this is expected behavior. Firefox for Android does not have support for RSS bookmarks.

  • EVERY SINGLE RSS FEED displays "Live Bookmark Feed Failed to Load" and then THEY LOAD...

Every single time I add an RSS feed as a live bookmark and view it, the top of the feed list displays a "Live Bookmark Feed Failed to Load" error... Followed by all of the NEWEST entries in that RSS feed.
So why the hell is it saying they failed to load every single time I open a live bookmark when they are actually loading?
I have deleted my live bookmarks and re-added them only to get the same error.
It makes me sad that my favorite web browser is going down the toilet. Won't be more than a month or two before you get taken down by Chrome according to general web trends... Give it a year and if you don't fix all the broken crap in FireFox it will end up as the "NEW IE6" in a year or two...
I love how the top dog in any category of business goes down the toilet as soon as the idiot board and bureaucrats get involved.

You can try to create a new Latest Headlines bookmark by visiting this website:

  • Unable to delete old rss feeds from live bookmarks

When I subscribe to a news rss feed I find all the news feeds listed under live bookmarks. I'm OK with that, but the problem is after reading them you can't delete the feeds unless you delete the bookmark. So each time I need rss feeds I have to go to the original source which is a waste of time.
I have reverted to Opera browser for news feeds as there is the capability of deleting individual feeds after reading them.
    Suggestions please.
    Thanks,
    Garry

Solved:  When composing an email and beginning to type an email address, you are prompted with autofillins.  There is a small x to the right of the name.  If you wish to delete the autofillin, then click on the x and Yahoo will remove it from the options in the future.

  • Bookmarks Bar Can't Do RSS Feed Maths!

    Hi,
In my Bookmarks Bar I have a folder called RSS Feeds. Within that I have 6 sub-folders. Each folder contains bookmarks to RSS feeds. The problem I'm having is that Safari isn't particuarly accurate at adding up my unread RSS feed items count. For example, right now it says (2) on the Bookmarks Bar, and it says (2) next to one of the sub-folders, which is good. But then, inside that sub-folder, there is no (2) or (1)s next to any of the feeds I've subscribed to.
Has anyone else had this problem? Is it just a fact that you shouldn't use nested folders for RSS feeds?

A good solution to this problem is actually to use NetNewsWire instead of Safari's RSS reader.
NetNewsWire is an excellent free Mac OS X RSS reader. I'm really satisfied with it. Now I get an accurate unread count in the Dock (I know Mail can do that). But the best part is that it auto syncs my RSS feeds with NewsGator online, meaning that if I read RSS feeds on my iPod Touch, my iMac knows about, and vice-versa.

  • RSS feeds disappear in Apple Mail after I sync my computers

When I sync the RSS feeds in Apple Mail on my computer they disappear.
I am trying to sync my two computers so they both have the RSS feeds in Apple Mail and they keep disappearing after I sync using my .Mac account.
Everything else I sync in Apple Mail seems to be syncing fine just the RSS feeds.
    Thanks
    Jeff

I've been having the same problem. I was hoping today's 10.5.3 update would help, but it's doing it again. I've tried deleting the com.apple.PubSubAgent.plist as suggested in some other threads addressing the same problem. But this fix is only temporary. When my mail syncs, my feeds disappear again.

  • My RSS feeds stopped updating in last 24 hours--anyone else?

I have three Macs, all running 10.4.6 that sync bookmarks through .Mac. I just read that as of 10.4.4, .Mac also syncs which RSS feeds have been read. Based on a KB article here, I also turned on "NAT Port Mapping Protocol" in my Airport Extreme Base Station, with the understanding it would enable the .Mac servers to "push" changes to my Macs. This has all been within the last 48 hours.
Last night, and still this morning, I'm not seeing any new RSS articles on my main-use Mac. If I open the RSS feeds manually, there is new content, but Safari doesn't poll those feeds on its own. I've tried rebooting, emptying the Safari Cache, turning RSS off and back on using the Safari debug menu. I've turned off the NAT Port Mapping Protocol, but no luck yet.
I see in the MacRumors forum that two other users have reported the same problem in the last day or two.
Has anyone else dealt with the problem here?
    Thanks.

There have been a number of reported problems with RSS feeds and synching through .Mac. I haven't seen a workable solution in the forums which allows up-to-date RSS feed loading, plus bookmark synching. To see if your problem is similar, uncheck the bookmark synching in your .Mac account, and restart Safari.
Not familiar with "NAT Port Mapping Protocol, however, I wonder if this problem continues if that selection is shut-off.
One other possible remedy is to reset the RSS data base file by moving the existing file out of the library. It can be found in your User Library>Syndication folder. See if that helps. If it doesn't, move the file back to its original location.
    Post back with results.

  • RSS Feeds not updating in safari (and Mail)

I have just realized that my RSS feeds (bookmark bar) stopped updating a few days ago.  If I "view all RSS articles," nothing more recent than several days ago appears.  Even when I hit "Update Now" under actions, I get nothing.  I know there are recent articles becasue I sync bookmarks across two MBAs and the other is updating just fine.
As an aside, my mail feed is not updating reliably either.
I updated to 10.7.2 on friday, but my feed worked until Saturday morning.  Any idea what might be casuing this issue?  I'm stumped.
    Thanks.

I have a similar problem. Some of my safari RSS feeds are updating whilst some aren't however if I go to the website and click on feeds again, it shows the latest ones. I think there's a bug in safari. I am running the latest version of Safari & OS X (as of this date). If anyone has a fix on this, it is greatly appreciated.

  • How can I transfer RSS feeds from one PC to another?

I have an old laptop using WinXP with Firefox installed and a significant number of RSS feed tabs.
I have a new laptop using Win7 Home Premium 64-bit with Firefox installed. I now want to copy the collection of RSS feeds on my old laptop to my new laptop.
    Thank you!

You can backup the bookmarks to an HTML file and import that file in the new laptop.<br />
You will have to remove the unwanted bookmarks and only keep or copy/move the RSS feed bookmarks to the folder where you want them.

  • Mobile Safari and RSS feeds

Sorry if this has already been discussed - I haven't found anything on it yet.
I have a few RSS feeds bookmarked on my iPhone. Whenever I click on an article I'm unable to use the back button to return to the main feed page. I always have to result to opening up the bookmark menu and hitting the main page that way.
Does anyone else have this issue? Is this a problem for everyone?

    Safari 6
This article from Apple does not mention  RSS  at all.

  • Firefox 34.0.5: Live bookmarks (RSS feeds) won't stay open! :(

Firefox 34.0.5: Live bookmarks (RSS feeds) won't stay open! If I close Firefox and reopen it, all my live bookmark folders are closed and I have to manually reopen them (such as BBC World News, etc.). Please restore the old functionality: If I have it open when I quit, let it be open when I come back! If I had it closed, then keep it closed. Thanks!

Thanks for your reply and for taking an interest. I've attached the screenshot in PNG format--hope that's okay. I use bookmarks only in the Sidebar, never in the toolbar (I just have way too many!)
The BBC News live bookmark that is shown opened in that screenshot always comes back closed after I close Firefox and reopen it. (This is true for ALL other live bookmarks as well. Formerly, in earlier versions of Firefox, the open ones always remained open, and the closed ones closed, which is the correct behavior, imho.)

  • ITunes U RSS feeds and Firefox Live bookmark

It seems there is a problem with rss feeds and ffox live bookmarks.
I tried subscribing to - http://deimos3.apple.com/WebObjects/Core.woa/Feed/itunes.stanford.edu.1524698736 .01524698739. However I do not get the plus sign indicating there are additional items.

Apple allows you to interact with iTunes U as an administrator through an XML-based web service. It's described in the iTunes U administrators guide:
    http://tinyurl.com/5nm73n
In particular, you're looking for the UpdateGroup web service directive:
    http://tinyurl.com/bmh2xw
If you send Apple an UpdateGroup directive, referring to a specific group (tab) within a course that feeds from one of your RSS servers, you're asking Apple to process the feed "now" (where "now" is defined to be "as soon as possible") as opposed to having to wait for an overnight feed refresh.
Have a look at the documentation ... if you're a little bit of a developer, it should make some sense. If not, I owe someone from Apple a favor and might give you a simpler way of using the directive ... without requiring you to write code yourself.

  • RSS Feeds in list form like Firefox Live Bookmarks

Is it possible to have RSS feeds in safari like Firefox's Live Bookmarks, how it shows every article posted on a website!??! please help!!

Safari... the best browser in the world... that lacks Firefox's Live Bookmarks feature from what... 2003?

  • RSS - Live bookmark failed to load - Firefox, RSS feeds not updating

I am new to this forum, and I figure this has been covered before. However, I'm not finding an answer.
I have a Beehive workspace and go to Recent Activity to subscribe to the RSS feed. When using Firefox, I am prompted for my username and password. The RSS feed works until I quit Firefox. After restarting Firefox, I get the "Live bookmark failed to load" message.
If I try to access the feed with Safari, I have the option to enter my username and password, and then save that info in my keychain. I'm trying to determine if the reason the RSS feed isn't updating because of some authentication problem.
People using Internet Explorer have also reported problems with Beehive workspace RSS feeds not updating, so I'm trying to find a solution.
Not providing reliable RSS feeds is slowing down adoption of our workspace, and people aren't wanting to use the workspace until I've resolved the RSS issue.
Can you point me to a solution or to information on how to resolve the RSS updating issues.
    Thanks.

    HI,
The RSS feed is password protected as you have to be an authenticated user to access the complete system. The issue seems to be in the browser - if it does not trigger a check for username/password and then prompt if not set there is a li9mited amount we can do.
We are working on getting the subscriptions inside beehive working which will generate notifications but that will not be available for a week or so.

  • How can I import my bookmarks and RSS feeds from Flock?

I just switched over from Flock because it's too sluggish to use anymore. How do I import all my bookmarks, passwords, and RSS feeds? If I have to do it all by hand, I'm going to cry.
Also do I need a separate RSS reader to get my feeds in a nice list like Flock does it? I don't really get how Live Bookmarks are supposed to work.
Thanks. I used Firefox before moving to Flock, so hopefully switching back won't be too painful.

Hm. This was somewhat helpful. I got my bookmarks moved (although now that I see how many of them I had backed up, I'm not sure that was a good idea).
Still trying to figure out the passwords... I have my Flock profile folder and my Firefox profile folders open... it looks like I need to copy the key3.db file and the signons.sqlite file from the Flock folder to the Firefox folder, does that sound correct?
As for the RSS feeds, it looks like I'll need an external reader to make any use of the .OPML file that Flock exported for me. I'm still not really clear on how Live Bookmarks work, exactly. I see how to create and manage them, I just don't get how they function day to day. I have a ridiculous number of RSS feeds, some of which still have half a hundred posts I'm working my way through.
Any recommendations for a good Firefox compatible feed reader?
    Thanks!
