No Tamron 17-50 profile in LR 3.6
I've upgraded LR to version 3.6 which should bring new lens profiles for Tamron lenses. But when I enable Profile Corrections I can only see one lens for Tamron - Di 28-75mm. How can I update/refresh the lens databse?
PS: In Photoshop I can see all the Tamron Lenses so it's just the LR problem
I suspect you're looking at a JPEG, not a Raw image. For JPEGs, the 28-75 is the only profile available.

Decision-making process EXIF = correct lens profile
I created a lens profile for my new camera Sony SLT-A77 with lens SAL-1680Z.
I use ACR 6.6 with activated feature "Enable Lens Profile Corrections" and Setup = Auto.
My new profile is found automatically because of EXIF information in the DNG file
and matching tags in the lens profile file.
EXIF:Make = stCamera:Make = "SONY"
EXIF:Model = stCamera:Model = "SLT-A77V"
EXIF:Model = stCamera:CameraPrettyName = "SLT-A77V"
EXIF:LensModel = stCamera:LensPrettyName = "DT 16-80mm F3.5-4.5 ZA"
But my problems start with the second lens. This is Tamron SP 70-300mm.
There is a lens profile provided by ACR 6.5: "SONY (TAMRON SP 70-300mm F4-5.6 Di USD A005S) - RAW.lcp"
But the tags in this file aren´t matching the EXIF in my DNG files.
So I tried to edit the tags like in my own lens profile.
EXIF:Make = stCamera:Make = "SONY"
EXIF:Model = stCamera:Model = "SLT-A77V"
EXIF:Model = stCamera:CameraPrettyName = "SLT-A77V"
EXIF:LensModel = stCamera:LensPrettyName = "TAMRON SP 70-300mm F4-5.6 Di USD A005S"
But in ACR6.5 this profile isn´t found automatically. I have to choose manually
in the Lens Profle menu the Make selector. But I have to choose "Tamron".
I can´t understand this behavior because the tag is stCamera:Make="SONY" and
there is no tag with "Tamron" in the profile.
I deleted all other lens profiles on the computer to exclude problems with another lens profile.
In the document "Adobe Camera Model V1.0" on page 11 I found the required EXIF tags,
but I suspect the mechanism ACR choose a lens profile is different.
IngoThere is also a LensID field in xmp:aux that would affect the lens matching. Bring your photos in PS/Bridge, show the FileInfo dialog, go to the Advanced panel, you can tweak the metadata in the lens profile to match the same values shown in the FileInfo dialog.

Looking for lightroom lens profile for tamron lens
I am using lightroom 5 at work and shot some images with a canon 5d2 body with tamron 24-70 2.8 vc and tamron 70-200 2.8 vc lense. According to the note below, both lens are supported since lightroom 4.1. However I can not find the profile of these two lens on lightroom 5. Does anyone how I can bring the profile back in? Thanks.
http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/multi/lens-profile-support-lightroom-4.htmlThe ProgramData folders are for Photoshop and are probably as old as the newest version of PS or DNG Converter you have.
The lens profiles for Lightroom 4 and 5 are under LR's Resources subfolder:
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop Lightroom x.x\Resources\LensProfiles\1.0\
(x.x = whatever version of LR you have)
For my LR 4.4 I have the following 16 subfolders under LensProfiles\1.0:
Apple
Canon
Fujifilm
Hasselblad
Leica
Mamiya
Nikon
Pentax
Phase One
Samsung
Schneider
Sigma
Sony
Tamron
Tokina
Zeiss
LR 5.3 adds DJI and GoPro as manufacturers for a total of 18 subfolders. -
Only one Tamron lens on my lens profile list?
My lens profiles in the distortion correction list are small. I looked at the official list and mine is not right. I only have one Tamron lens profile. Nikon and Canon only have about 6 lenses each. What gives?
......oh.......well that answers my question. My pics are JPG. Thats kinda sad to hear especially since canon doesn't do distortion correction on non canon lenses. There's only one tamron lens for JPG, so sad. I was going crazy uninstalling and reinstalling and trying to find downloads for them. Thanks for the info. My frustration level has just dropped substantially. Thanks again!

Tamron 17-50mm 2.8 has two profiles, which one to use?
Hello
Well my Tamron lens loads in Camera Raw since the latest update, but there are two and by the description sound like the identical lens...
Make: Tamron
Tamron SP AF 17-50mm f/2.8 XR Di II LD (raw)
Profile: Canon 40D (I have an XSi / 450D)
Make: Tamron
Tamron SP AF 17-50mm f/2.8 DiII A16E (raw)
Profile: Adobe
So what's the difference between these? Camera Raw chooses the Adobe one. Lens Correction leaves me both options because they both match the image sensor size. Is the Adobe one from forum users and the Canon one from Canon?
ThanksThe one profile with the "Adobe" name in it is the official Adobe profiles. They were created in collaboration with Tamron from the lens design data. The other one is created via the normal calibration method using ALPC on a Canon 40D camera.
You could locate the specific profile on the file system by selecting the profile in PS CS5 lens correction filter and go to the flyout menu Show in Finder/Explorer. You could delete the profile that you don't need or simply put a '~' prefix to the lens profile file name. And PS CS5 will ignore loading the profile the next time. You could also do this to a len profile folder name so that the entire folder is skipped for profile scanning.

Where are the profiles for Tamron 10-24, 18-250 & Sigma 17-70 ?
I have the following lenses which are listedin the
Lens profile support
http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/846/cpsid_84666.html
However, none of them is shown in the Adobe Lens Profile Downloader 1.0. Why is this?
How to get profiles for these lenses then?
TAMRON
18-250mm F/3.5-6.3 DiII A18P
Pentax
3.2/6.2/12
TAMRON
SP 10-24mm F/3.5-4.5 DiII B001P
Pentax
3.2/6.2/12
SIGMA
17-70mm F2.8-4.5 DC MACRO / HSM
Canon, Nikon, Pentax, SIgma, Sony
3.0/6.1/12
Thanks
JohnThe lens profile downloader gives you access to profiles created and uploaded to Adobe server by users. The profiles you mention are supplied by Adobe as part of the Lr3.3, Camera Raw 6.3 and DNG Converter 6.3 installer. Also, they are only compatible for use with raw images and won't even be visible with Lr unless the images are raw. If you can't see them, then theres a very highly probability that it's because you haven't installed one or other of the application I mention above or your images are TIFF, JPEG or PSD.

Lens Profile For The Tamron Lens
Does anyone have a profile for the tamron 28-105 3.5-4.5 usm
on the canon 5d markllWhat lens are you looking for? I don’t think there is a 27-40mm. Do you mean a 24-70 or 17-40? And what are the rest of the lens model specifications: max aperture, stabilization, optical quality, etc.
-
I have just installed LR5 on Windows 8. I cannot find the lens profile for Tamron 27-40. Any ideas? I had this available with LR5 on Windows 7.

Lens profiles not showing up in LR 5.
Working on a Mac 10.7.5, Photoshop CS6, and Camera Raw 8.3 installed. In Lightroom 4, my Canon 6D camera was supported, all lens profiles appearing in LR, was able to choose my Tamron 28-200 mm profile for raw images. Have installed LR 5 and no profiles are coming up. The profiles all appear in: Mac/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Camera Raw/Lens Profiles, on my system, but I cannot seem to get them to appear in LR 5 so I can choose my lens for "Enable Lens Correction" option.
Have opened a raw file in PH 6, Lens correction, my correct lens is appearing, but says it cannot be found online.
Any ideas or suggestions, thanksDo you have the latest camera raw installed for Photoshop? If so, you can find the profiles in /Library/Application\ Support/Adobe/CameraRaw/LensProfiles/1.0/Nikon/ . Lightroom should recognize them if you move them into your home directory's Library folder in the exact same folder structure (but in the Library folder in your home directory). This is assuming you are using Mac OS X. No clue where these files would be on Windows. If you don't have Photoshop, you can install Camera Raw using the combined installer with DNG converter which is a free download from Adobe. This should (I think) give you the profiles in that exact location without owning Photoshop.

Lens Profiles not working in Lightroom 5.4?
I've got OSX 10.9.2, Lightroom 5.4, latest Camera raw, everything up to date.
When I "Enable Profile Corrections" for an image shot with a Sony a7r and Sony FE 55mm lens, it should automatically retrieve this profile:
/Library/Application Support/Adobe/CameraRaw/LensProfiles/1.0/Sony/SONY (Sony FE 55mm F1.8 ZA) - RAW.lcp
Well, it doesn't. The only Sony lens available in Lightroom's Lens Correction panel is "Sony DT 18-200mm." But there are several dozen Sony lense profiles in the "Sony" directory.
And more puzzling, the camera "Make" menu lists 8 manufacturers (Apple, Canon, DJI, GoPro, Nikon, Sigma, Sony, Tamron) but leaves out a number of others — Fujifilm, Hasselblad, Leica, Mamiya, etc.
And as with Sony, only one Tamron lens is listed.
I've tried re-installing Lightroom fresh, and no luck.
Photoshop works fine and has all the lens profiles.
Anyone else noticing this? Got a fix?
Irked in Cambridge,
MikeI only shoot in RAW, and I am having this same issue. I shoot Nikon with a Tokina lens. This morning, Tuesday October 14, 2014, I had this setting. I closed the program and restarted it, and now I only have Apple, Canon, DJI, GoPro, Nikon, Sigma, Sony, Tamron lens profiles. There was not an update, nor did I actually change any settings. What is going on here?
I talked to customer support, whom suggested that I was stoned out of my mind because these profiles do not exist in lightroom. I did as the rep asked, followed the link and downloaded the "new" profile. Now I can't get it installed. Meanwhile, my photos are waiting for me to edit them. Can someone please help out here?! -
My Tamron 10-24 is listed as Unknown Lens
Any way to fix this?

Yes the supplied profile works - in my test shots it corrects distortion and vignetting nicely - but it is a pain to have to pick the proffile by hand for each shot.
My real issue is Lightroom not correctly identifying the lens and listing it as "Unknown" in the meta data. Was hoping there was a way to teach lightroom to recognize it - or a config file to hack to make it recognize the lens.
For testing puposes I changed the raw format of my Pentax from DNG to PEF but got the saame result.
Anyone else have ideas?
Jim -
Why are no Pentax lenses in the Adobe Camera Raw lens profiles when processing JPG files?
I normally shoot and process raw files and use the latest version of Adobe Camera Raw for processing. Some of these files are converted to jpg for use on the net or e-mailing etc. Sometimes I want to make minor changes to the now converted jpg file and often go to Adobe Camera Raw for ease and speed of use. Lately I have gone back to some files that were not thoroughly processed as raw files before conversion to jpg. When, in ACR, I go to Lens Corrections panel, Profile tab, I Enable Lens Profile Corrections and choose Setup: Auto (or Default) and get the message, "Unable to locate a matching lens profile automatically".
I then go down to Lens Profile and click on Make with the intention of choosing the Pentax lens which I used for the photo. Here is the problem - there are only six choices under make, namely Apple, Canon, Nikon, Sigma, Sony and Tamron. I have no such issues when processing a raw file in Adobe Camera Raw. Pentax lenses are automatically detected and Pentax, along with Leica, Samsung, Zeiss, etc. are choices under Make of lens.
Do other people have this problem? Is there some setting I have missed? Is Adobe just not permitting some makers' lenses, for which there are profiles, to be corrected if the files are jpgs?
BTW, I have checked and the same issues exist for tiff files opened in ACR.Assuming I read your post correctly, and that you're trying to use Lens corrections on JPEGs and TIFFs... I believe there's a completely different set of profiles for correcting already "developed" images (such as JPEGs and TIFFs). If I recall correctly (and it's been a while since I read about this), it's the same set that's used inside Photoshop for the Filter - Lens Correction tool (I hope someone here will correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm sure I read this somewhere).
If your lenses are known to Camera Raw when you develop raw files, I suggest you will need to go all the way back to your Raw file and reprocess it from that stage. You'll get a better result anyway.

Lens Profile Downloader Feedback
I'm curious to know what people think about Adobe's Lens Profile Downloader. Are people using it? What do you think of it? Are people even aware of it?
I think it has great potential. Adobe's been trying to play catch-up after releasing the Profiler (profiles are time-consuming to make, and there was no clear or easy way to request profiles from Adobe or the larger community).
However, it definitely feels a little half-baked. The need for selecting a profile based on the camera model is was built with is slim (if I am a D300 owner, I am equally interested in profiles created with the D90 or D300s, as well as the D7000 and so on). More importantly, there's no field for LENS MAKE. Hello? This means that if Nikon/Canon/Sony, Sigma, Tokina, and Tamron all decide to make a 12-24mm f/4 lens, there's no easy way to figure out which one the listed profile is actually for. More oddities: Apple listed under Camera Make? And a random half of the brands' names in full uppercase?
Here's the info we need when selecting a lens profile for RAW conversion:
Camera Make
Lens Make
Lens Model
Crop Factor
RAW or JPEG (do people use lens profiles for JPEG correction?)
Camera Model (only necessary for JPEGs or if crop factor is unknown)
Profile Creator
Profile Creation Date
User Rating & Comments
Cheers,
Cory
coryschoolland.comThe reason there is no selection for Lens Make is that, until very recently, it was not a standard EXIF field. Even with EXIF 2.3, manufacturers are generally not filling in the field. So there's nothing to search for, unfortunately.
Apple is listed because of the iPhone models. -
Can I use a Canon Lens profile if there isn't a Sony profile ?
I just bought the Tamron SP 90 2.8 DI MACRO USD and LR lens profiles only lists this lens for Canon (F004E) and Nikon (F004N). There is no profile for Sony (F004S) ! Any drawback if I use F004E or N ? Or better use a the profile of the older Model of that lens where there is a Sony profile ?
Thanks for answers !kleinjn wrote:
One could ask why are there versions of the same profile for Nikon, Canon, Sony and may be others ?
Good question.
My guesses:
* The lens description is not guaranteed to be unique across all camera models, so having camera model in the mix assures the correct lens is unambiguously chosen.
* Adobe wants to reserve the right to do things differently based on camera model, for the reasons hinted at in my previous post (e.g. data may be registered differently in the lens depending on camera model).
It's kinda like camera calibration profiles - there is a separate Adobe Standard profile for every camera, and in many cases, it's identical to that for other cameras, but in some cases, it's different.
PS - I think Eric Chan is the only person likely to give you a definitive answer here, but maybe some other savvy user knows..
