No TEAC cd/dvd driver for Satellite A105 2101 not available???

I have looked everywhere for a driver to replace my Missing or Corrupted (code 39) TEAC DW-22-224E-C driver for my Satellite A105 series! I uninstalled and reinstalled the driver, and I have the latest update. It is still not working - i get a code 39. I can put a cd in my internal drive, hear it spin, see the yellow light go on, then the light goes off and it stops spinning. Any suggestions???? If I take it down to a total recovery and it still doesn't fix the driver, I lose all my software application that I have installed - if it deletes it - because I won't be able to use the cd/dvd drive to reinstall anything. I NEED HELP PLEASE! Thank you for anything you can do to get me out of this jam!

Hi. We bought 10 laptops for our school. Those pc's come with windows vista home basic version. We need to install windows xp sp2 on them, but the problem is that we don't have the drivers. The recovery cd theat comes with those pc's was windows vista recovery CD. We tried to download the drivers from the Net and they were fine except cd/dvd driver. With windows vista we wre able to drag and drop files on rewritable cd or dvd and it was working fine. After installing windows xp on them, we can't use cd/dvd as writer the system consider it as normal CD where actually it is cd/dvd ReWritable. we can read from cd/dvd bur we can't write. I didn't install any other software like nero ... etc. The model of all those pc's are the same :

If you really cannot burn CDs maybe the service is deactivated and must be re-activated:

I read in the last rows of that article something about, that you have to check a box to turn that ability on.

CD/DVD drive of Satellite A30 does not work properly

I have a satellite A30 - 921, but for some reason the cd/dvd has stopped working. In Drivers folder it says "driver corrupt/missing. (Error code 39). It will not roll-back or update either. Do i need to download the driver ( it is Toshiba dvd-rom SD-R6112) again & if so how/where? I cant use the recovery or installation disc as it wont read the drive. Any ideas pls.

So, you want to tell that your CD/DVD-drive is defective and you cannot read from it nor recover your system.

Otherwise I suggest you to bring your machine to an authorized service partner for a hardwarecheckup. If your drive is really defective then it should be replaced.

Portable dvd drive for Satellite T115 (Toshiba's drive)

I can't make any program disk run to load the program. Is Win 7 home premium the problem? Trying to load ION vinyl and Audasity that came with the turn table. Also Office 2003 Pro won't go either. HELP!! (i hate Windows of any species!!!!)

You are mostly correct in your statement about CD/DVD drives for your notebook. However, it is important that you only buy drives with dimensions similar to your current model.
Generally CD/DVD drives come in two varieties, those destined for tower type installation and those destined for notebooks. The latter are usually designated as 'slim' or 'slimfit'.
To install the new drive you usually need to unscrew and remove any fitting brackets used to anchor your drive to your notebook together with any plastic trim components. These will then need to be attached to your new drive.
Toshiba notebooks use various drives (Toshiba, TEAC, Mat****a, etc.) so you will generally have a reasonably wide variety to choose from.
Finally, you may need to download drivers for your new drive if none are provided or if your purchase an OEM version. These can be obtained from the drive manufacturers web-site.

LaCie is one. The Macally 500BC Firewire/USB 2.0 enclosure with a separate Pioneer S-Drive is another viable option.
I personally use multiple ADS Tech 1394 Pyro FW Enclosures with a Pioneer 110D S-Drive as well as a few ext. FW HD's and they all work well on mult. G4 systems (completely interchangeable via FW 400).

I want a 2nd DVD drive for my iMac

Have a new 24" Alloy iMac and well, having moved my main computer from a PC to a MAC is great, iLove it! Problem though is there are lots of times where I could utilize a 2nd CD/DVD drive. Apparently the external drive for the MacBook Air is exclusive to that (which doesn't make any sense to me - Apple would sell a ton of these if they made them non-specific rather than to only a small % of sales). So I've been poking around here on the forums and I've seen some referenced to MacSales.com site - but with such a beautiful machine as an iMac, I can't bring myself to getting one of these butt ugly things. Found a handsome LG CD/DVD with Lightscribe external drive, but no evidence of Mac support.
Where can I get, or how can I get an external DVD drive for my Mac? I'd rather avoid patching if possible.
Better still: Apple - update the MacAir drive to be universal for your machines please!

OWC (macsales.com) would be a good source, since they are very Mac-centric and should know what works well and what does not work well with Macs and Mac OS X.
They may be boxy and "ugly" but those full-sized tray-loading drives are the most reliable type. Plus with a tray-loader, you can read the strangely shaped and mini- discs that would choke a slot-loader.
If you want more style, LaCie is also Mac-oriented and they have some choices.

I'd recommend upgrading to a DVD±RW drive, rather than installing a new DVD-ROM drive or combo DVD-ROM/CD-RW drive. The Pioneer DVD burners are highly-recommended by Forum users, because of their native support within the Apple iApps (iTunes, iDVD, etc.) burning programs. You can get a good deal on one here, which is the same drive that's sold in Pioneer's retail packaging, carried by Best Buy, Micro Center, etc. Other branded drives may require the easy use of "PatchBurn," to create a drive support profile for them. I recently installed an 18x Memorex DVD±RW drive (manufactured by LG) in a B&W G3, and with the help of PatchBurn, it's natively recognized by OS X. Internal (ATAPI) DVD burners are available at electronics, office supply, and computer retail stores. Be aware that many major electronics manufacturers (HP, Sony, Memorex, etc.) outsource the production of their optical drives, so you're buying a rebranded drive. If you watch your local retailers' weekly sales, you can usually get a good deal on one for $40 or less. The drivers are native Nvidia/ATI drivers but the *.inf files (the files where the hardware information and the settings for the cards are listed) were fitted for mobile systems. That means you can install them on your machine and by the way you will get the most actual drivers.

The boards are here to help fellow users of Apple products. The points are a nice reward, but they are optional. Mellow out and accept that you won't get points for every answer.

T410 - DVD Driver for XP?

We recently purchased a T410 and an extended battery. We removed the DVD drive and placed battery in place, however, when we set the DVD player back the drivers came up with yellow exclamation.
The DVD drive is a Sony AD-7930H. We went to the Sony website and DL'ed the driver for this, however the driver is only compatible for Vista/7. We had ordered our laptops with XP installed on them. We are looking for a compatible driver for this DVD driver for the XP system. Has anyone had this issue and found the appropriate driver?

The DVD-RW driver should be a standard generic driver... Try getting Device Manager to update from it's existing driver database.

How can I switch the region code on MBP w/ DVD drive for the 5th and final time? It brings up the window with that world map to do it, including the warning that "this is the 5th and final time I can do this", when inserting a DVD and opening "DVD Player", but it never executes my click on the "Change Drive Region" button prompt.
VLC or Quicktime Player won't play it either, but won't bring up that window to change Region Code anyway....
Otherwise, I'm not having any other issues with this MBP at all. Peak performance on all counts :-)
I tried resetting SMC after chatting w/ Apple Support, but it didn't help.

Region encoding is the mechanism that enables motion picture studios to control the worldwide release of their movies. It is required by the DVD Forum (http://www.dvdforum.org/forum.shtml) in all commercial hardware DVD players. Every DVD-Video disc contains one byte of data representing a region code, which limits where the disc can be played.
