No templates on ESS

Hi all,
I have the following authorization problem on ECC6 and EP 6:
I'm using a userID with the roles and generated profiles suggested by the standard documentation for ESS and I can't see the templates in ESS.
If I set SAP_ALL I can see them.
Do you know which is the specific role for displaying them on EP?

On the backend, the delivered role is (from help.sap.com):
SAP_ESSUSER_ERP05
Single role that comprises all non country-specific functions.
SAP_EMPLOYEE_ERP05_xx
Single role comprising country-specific functions. A separate role exists for each country version (xx = country ID). The corresponding composite role is SAP_EMPLOYEE_ERP05.

On the portal, you should find the role needed in the business package for ESS under "Content Provided by SAP -> End User Content -> Employee Self-Service -> Roles". There is only one delivered role. You should use this as an example and develop your own as needed.

Hi Vimal,
If you are using EHP1 to EHP3 then for appraisals we dont have a standard iView available in ESS MSS. From EHP4 SAP has provided a standard iView for appraisal.
EHP1- EHP4- Supports BSP applications and EHP4 is on Webdynpro applications
For EHP-EHP3, you can access the appraisal docuemnt on portal by:
Goto SE80-> Select BSP Application-> Select HAP_DOCUMENT -> Right Click and Click on Test.
You will get a window showing list of BSP applications available for appraisal template/ Document to be viewd on portal.
For Employee use: received_open3.htm
For MAnager use: todo.htm
for Further participants use: where_participated.htm
For EHP4, appraisal templates will be available in the stadrad iView

Button not visible in ess or mss appraisal portal.

i have implimented custome BADI implimentation for standard BADI " HRHAP00_ADD_HEADER " for my appraisal template for ess and mss. it is showing one additional data button in header section of the template. when i see this template in R/3 system in dev cleint or any cleint in server it is showing the additional data button. but when i go to web browser to open appraisal portal for ess or mss adn check the button is not visible there. please help. if it showing the additional buton in R/3 system adn standard BADI is implimented then it must show it in portal in web browser also. portal is built in web dynpro abap standard only.

I guess HRHAP00_ADD_HEADER badi is for only backend changes

How to use EP-ESS Leave Request using Custom Workflow

Hi Experts,
Can I use the EP-ESS Leave Request (ESS 1.0 for ERP05) with a custom workflow which is NOT a copy of the standard workflow 12300111?

Can a domain template have multiple dependencies?

Is it possible to create a domain template that has more than one dependency? It seems that the schema for domain-template-info allows only zero or one dependency elements. (and dependency allows only one 'requires' element?
It seems like a basic requirement, and I would rather not create a plethora of domain templates to chain them all together.

Issue in PMS

Hi guys,
I ahve done all required template configuration using OOAM Tcode in bakc end system.Now my doubt is-How to configure in R/3 side to get in display all configured templates in ESS&MSS.
I understood,we have a standard services in R/3 like Address,Personnel Information Etc... under Personnel administration node,but i have not seen anywhere in back end how to activate configured templates.
I hopw u guys understnad my issuue.
Please help someone to coeout of this issue?

Hi Kumar,
You can activate by releasing the templates by right clicking and say "release template "which you have created either by TR or upload the template directly to Production.

Appraisal document for further participant

Hi,
We are using Objective setting and Appraisal on EHP4. We are using the standard web dynpro iview.
The process flows between Employee and Manager and the Higher manager is able to view the appraisal template. Our problem is that Employee and Manager is able to view the template in their respective iviews ie. through ESS and MSS, but in case of further participant who is higher manager is able to view the template in ESS and not in MSS.
Is this the standard way that the further participants are able to view appraisal in ESS ?

Yes, appraissees and further participants access the appraisals via the ESS role and appraisers by the MSS role.

Testing Question - Objective Settings and Appraisals

Hi Experts
During testing, we need to delete appraisal docs under Appraisal Template and do "cancel release", each time need to change configurations or for any changes in the template.
Since in Perf Mgmt , it is recommeded to transport at the very end, how can we accomodate these changes as the tranport is already released and moved to QA?
Secondly, how can we transport configurations done for the front end/ portal configurations as the project requirement is to access appraisal template via ESS/MSS?
I have done this whole project in Sandbox ( as we have real data there) and tested and worked fine, now doing everything in DEV and moving to QA and then Prod, I need to be educated on accomodating and moving configurations through different landscapes.

For the customizing, just make your changes, put them on a transport and push them thru your landscape. You can create as many transports as needed, just make sure you import them in the right order

Issue in PD

Dear Friends,
I have a issue with PMS.While executing a template in ESS i am unable to see Appraisal date for part appraiser and i am able to see final manager.In simple words,i want to see this appraisal date should be display to all Part appraiser and Final manager through out template.
Please help someone to come out this issue.........

Hi Kumar,
At Appraisal Template Level (Object VA)- goto tab "Layout". You can set the various parameters that needs to be displayed in the header.

URGENT: APPRAISALS: Defaulting of participants/managers in the appraisal

Dear Friends,
I have created an appraisal template in the objective settings and appraisals node of IMG. We are using the template through ESS for the employee performance appraisal. Whenever the employee starts the appraisal process, s/he has to enter the employee numbers of all the managers/reviewers at all the levels. The levels are as follows:
Appraisee
Reporting Officer
Reviewing Officer1
Reviewing Officer2
Pre-reviewing Officer2
Performance Management Committee (One Entity)
I have created the relatinships of each level entity with the appraisee.
My question is - "How can I default all these reviewers/managers using the relationships I have created?"
Please help me find a solution urgently.

exactly work flow.
because associate reviewed by superior. it is dependending upon reporting structure and work flow.this is permenent solution.
for instance you can maintain in custom table.it is very easy than doing work flow and all.then create a report to which pich the values from the table insted of from OM reporting structure and then generate

Push buttons doesn't show up in Appraisal template-(ESS,MSS)

Hi SAP friends,
I have template created with few sub-statuses and thus have created few push buttons to control the flow in ESS and MSS portal.
However I do not see any pushbuttons (or radio buttons) in ESS/MSS. Appreciate if you can guide me what all areas I was missing? Do we need to do anything in portal or Iviews? I read somewhere in forum that we need to do some thing in Iviews, but I was not convinced with it. Appreciate your speedy suggestions as we are in critical stage of project.
I have substatus created in In-Planning.
I'm not using In-planning status but using sub-status. Here is how I have mapped
Status flow at template level:
Outbout status - "In-PLanning"
Outbout substatus : Enter Objectives & Goals(Employee level)
PUSH BUTTON - Submit for Mgr review
Person Authorized - Aprraises
Target status : In- PLanning
Target substus - Manager Review

I think u are trying to go to previous status from sub status. From In Preparation you can come to In planning or the sub status of in planning.

ESS Record Working Time-Save as Template,Decimal

Hi Experts,
I am working on the ESS Standard Web Dynpro Java Record Working Time.
I faced a problem cannot reset the saved template after the employee has saved the templated thru the button of Save as template.
Can anybody provide any guide on how to reset the templates indvidually thru ESS Portal ?

Now then there is no explicit button for
clearing the templates.
The steps to be followed are Deleting the Templates are :
Delete Row > Save as Template
For Next Row
Delete Row > Save as Template
it will clear the template ;).
ie after deleting the single row or mutiple rows a save template
should be used.

ESS save time as template - what is supposed to do?

in ESS, when entering time, there is a button "Save as Template". What is this supposed to do?.

ESS Java Iviews vs. SAP GUI for HTML Templates

We are currently implementing ESS in 4.6c using ITS. We are planning on using the standard delivered ESS services and some custom iviews. We are planning on creating the custom iviews in Java as we can re-use when we upgrade to WAS6.4.
Can we use both Java iviews via a JCo (similar to MSS)and the standard delivered ESS services using ITS ?
Do we need create internet services for the Java iviews that will connect with R/3 thru Jco ( Is it the same as SAP GUI for Java)?

Just got of a project where we implemented ESS/MSS on R/3 4.6 using custom iViews in JAVA. Basically we developed one iView template that can be configured using attributes for different services. Each service can be used for ESS and MSS. This decreases frontend development work quit a lot because for most new services you only need to develop RFC's and then configure the iView to use those RFC's and the metadata.
Depending on you timeline you will either need one frontend and one backend resource. You can use one resource if that person knows JAVA and ABAP but it will take longer to finish the service or you can have multiple resources if your timeline requires to have multiple services finished at the same time. Appraisal template standard buttons not working via ESS/MSS

Hi experts,
The error which I am facing in appraisal template is as follows
When I click on any button on appraisal template no action takes place.
Kindly let me know how can I resolve this error.
we are using BSP application HAP_DOCUMENT.
according to me page fragment 'document_buttons.htm' (Method CONVERT_BUTTON_TO_UI) contains the code for button creation and button handling
the page fragment 'document_buttons.htm' is getting triggered when page is initialized but it is not triggering when button is clicked.
Additional info that might be useful to resolve the issue:
1) While viewing appraisal template's web layout in t-code PHAP_CATALOG_PA.
I am facing following script error.
This error reappears when I click on any standard button For eg SAVE
2) We are currently using IE 8
3) We recently upgraded ECC system from ECC 6.0 to ECC 6.0 / EHP 6 (ECC 6.6)
4) I checked SICF and corresponding services are active

Design2008 service is inactive in my system.when activated temporarily I was not able to see previous page (Blank page was displayed) in my appraisal application.
For BSP application HAP_document, i checked SICF->default host->SAP->BC->BSP->SAP->HAP_document.This service is active.
The image which I have attached with my question is appraisal template's web layout in t-code PHAP_CATALOG_PA.
