hi buy a imac 27 "in 2011 and did not come or iweb or idvd?respectoa anyone know this?
When Lion was released Apple stopped including iWeb and iDVD with the other iLife applications on newly purchased Macs.
To obtain them you will have to  find a copy of the iLife 09 or iLife 11 boxed disk (both contain the same versions of iWeb and iDVD).  Over here in the US we can purchase copies at Amazon.com or eBay.com.  Check with the equivalent sources where you are and see if you can purchase a copy.

  • What is the best way to Install ilife11 iDVD and iWeb onto an iMac with Maverick

    Hi:
I would like to purchase a new iMac. Since this does not come with iDVD or iWeb, I would like to install these two programs from my iLife11 DVD. Will this work?
I assume I would have to do a custom install so I do not overide the newer versions of iphoto and iMovie? Is that correct?
Will I perform the install in typical Mac fashion or do I have to do something special?
    Thanks a lot.

There must a better way to do this. The problem is, YOU CAN'T UNCHECK IPHOTO in the installer. You pretty much need all the support files which you can't see in the installer, but you usually don't want iphoto.
1 way to get around this is: Quit the installer if you launched it. Open the install disc > search = (any ilife app) > make visibility option 'invisible'. (if you don't know how, search invisible files in apple's help menu). run through the stuff to find a 'packages' (or some similar name) folder. Inside of that, I install everything except for what I don't want, which for me is the iphoto and imovie stuff.
Still there must a better way, maybe you can create your own installer from the packages w/ package maker or something and burn that image... Worth trying...
Please be assured that you will not get full integration between the current apps and the iLife apps in 10.9.x; Mavericks.  The apps don't have all the expected hooks to each other due end of product development. This seems to be the crux of the problems I've had testing to make an idvd dvd.
If you're running 10.9, I recommend moving on to current replacements that will work as expected. That way you won't be wasting time running down project problems.

  • Ilife 11, i cant see my idvd or iweb in the software dvd i just bought

hey guys, i just got a brand new ilfe 11 software dvd but it only shows me that it contains imovie, iphoto, and garageband. I boutgh it because wanted to install idvd and iweb which did not come with my all in one desktop imac. but on the box, it says that it has idvd and iweb as a feature. Is there anything special that i must do to be able to see idvd and iweb when i load the cd into the disk drive, becasue as of now, all i see is the three that i already have which i dont want.

just want to say that u r right, so far things seem to be working out just as u stated.
i do want to point out that when i got to the customise installation page, garageband, imovie, and iphoto
where unselectable. I am guessing that its because they are already installed on the computer. l selected idvd and iweb and then proceeded to the next phase.
if it works out, thanks very much for your help.
if it doesnt work out, i will post again.

hi! i just purchased a mac, i am a new user.. i find it amazing and all, but i cannot copy my videos to a dvd because i dont have idvd and iweb!! i became so frustrated over it.. and i tried all the forums and apple support, only to find-out there is no telephone support for the Philippines.. what should we do about it?? HOW can you import imedia to idvd if you dont have idvd?!!! I purchased my macbook pro in its full priced yet my software ilife'11 is not complete.. in apple store, if you purchase the ilife'11 os the iweb and idvd is bundled, i already paid for the package pre-installed why don't i have those?! and why dont we have a dvd copy of our softwares?!! i REALLY REALLY REALLY need to import my videos so i could keep my projects because it is already paid.. PLEASE PLEASE HELP! i dont even know where to contact support for my mac... i hope you understand and you could help...

If you purchase iLife 11 on disk (not a download) you will get iDVD and iWeb.

  • I replaced my hard drive and I backed up my files on an external hard drive but when I reloaded my iweb to my imac none of my files were on it so I can't make changes to my Published web site have I lost my files what can I do

I replaced my hard drive and I backed up my files on an external hard drive but when I reloaded my iweb to my imac none of my files were on it so I can't make changes to my Published web site have I lost my files what can I do

By default iWeb keeps its data in (user)/Library/Application Support/iWeb in a file named Domain. Without this file you cannot proceed (other than by recreating the site from scratch using the published version as a reference) so you need to locate it on the original disk.
To confuse matters, Apple have hidden the user’s Library folder in Lion and Mountain Lion to casual viewers, in an attempt to stop new Mac users messing their machines up. To access it, in the Finder go to the ‘Go’ menu and hold down the Option (Alt) key; the Library folder will appear as a choice.

  • What is replacing iDVD and iWeb

I noticed that iDVD or iWEB are no longer available in the App Store (If they ever were).  Does anyone know what Apple is recommending as software replacements for these  producs, or are they being up dated and not available yet?

It is now is apparent that iWeb, and iDVD, will no longer be supported by Apple since it's reported that new Macs are shipping with iLife 11 installed but without iWeb and iDVD.  iWeb will still continue to work but without the following:
Features Unavailable When Publishing to a Non-Mac Server:
    ◼ Password protection
    ◼ Blog and photo comments
    ◼ Blog search
    ◼ Hit counter
    ◼ RSS Feed Widget
All of these issues can be replaced with 3rd party optionsl  There's another problem and that's with iWeb's popup slideshows.  Once the MMe servers are no longer online the popup slideshow buttons will not display their images.
However, Roddy McKay and myself have figured out a way to modify existing sites with those slideshows and iWeb itself so that those images will display as expected once MobileMe servers are gone.  How to is described in this tutorial: #26 - How to Modify iWeb So Popup Slideshows Will Work After MobileMe is Discontinued.
There's no telling how long the iLife 11 boxed disk will continue to include iWeb and iDVD but I would imagine until the current stock runs out.

  • How can I burn my iMovie project to DVD?  I do not have iDVD or iLife on my iMac but I do have the internal DVD slot.

How can I burn my iMovie project to DVD?  I do not have iDVD or iLife on my iMac but I do have the internal DVD slot.

    Hi
If there is no iDVD on Your Mac (and it's not on newer Macs as Apple discarded it) then You need a program that can do this.
Your Mac can burn CDs and DVDs - BUT DVD as Data-DVDs not as Video-DVDs - they need a program to be encoded and STRUCTURED as such.
    • iDVD is part of the boxed version of iLife'11 and can only be bought outside Apple as on Amazon and e-bay
    • DVD Studio pro - Part of FinalCut Studio Pro bundle - this to has expired and can only be bought second handed. (High price and tough learning Curve - but best ever done.)
    • Roxio Toast™ - Not as elegant as iDVD - but has many other positive additions (I like it as 10-Pro incl BD-component) (now version 11)
    • Burn - only free alternative I know of on internet. Very simple - Just for doing a plain Video-DVD
    Burn http://www.digital-digest.com/software/Burn.html
only You can buy from Apple is
    • FinalCut Pro-X which also can burn to DVD but without any nice themes.
    AppleMan1958
You can also buy Compressor from Apple for $50 US. It will also create DVD and BluRay but without the nice themes.

  • Can I migrate iWeb from my iMac to new MacBook Air?

I am running two web sites in iWeb on my iMac (hosted by  GoDaddy). I am buying a new MacBook Air and need to move iWeb to that machine. How is this possible?

You simply need to copy two files across to the new Mac: one is the iWeb application itself, and the other is a file called Domain which live in (user)/Library/Application Support/iWeb.
(Apple have hidden the user’s Library folder in Lion and Mountain Lion to casual viewers, in an attempt to stop new Mac users messing their machines up. To access it, in the Finder go to the ‘Go’ menu and hold down the Option (Alt) key; the Library folder will appear as a choice.)
However note that if your version of iWeb is v2 is is likely not to work well on Mountain Lion. iWeb is no longer sold, but you may be able to get a version of v3 by purchasing iLife 09 or 11 from Amazon or another retailer (or eBay).
Note that once you have made this move and are publishing from the new Mac you musn't publish anything from iWeb on the old Mac or you will mess things uup.

  • If I use iCloud on my iPad, will it change my MobileMe functions like iWeb on my iMac? My iMac uses Snow Leopard.

If I use iCloud on my iPad, will it change my MobileMe functions on my iMac which uses Snow Leopard. In other words will it disable functions like iWeb on my iMac?

As a follow-up . . . I downloaded and installed Virtual Box, purchased a legal issue of Windows XP (not easy since Microsoft doesn't sell it anymore), installed it, installed Quicken 2009 in "the Box" and then the problems began. Trying to migrate my Quicken data files from my laptop PC to the Virtual Box Quicken program turned out to be the most frustrating thing I've been through for quite awhile. Error after error without any explanation of what I was doing wrong (or not doing) kept me scratching my head and re-reading the VB manual for nearly two days. Today I finally had success and all three of my Quicken accounts are comfortably residing in my iMac and working perfectly (so far . . . knock, knock).
It was well worth the effort because now all I need to do is open VB (about 3 seconds), click open Windows (about 5 seconds) and open Quicken ( <5 more seconds) and I'm ready to go to work.
    Thanks for the advice typod360 . . . it's much apprecoiated.

  • If I purchase a box set of iLife and just install the iDVD component on my new iMac should I be able to make a DVD in the format that plays on a TV DVD?

When I recently purchased my first iMac I was disappointed to find that there was no DVD making facility. I want to make a video of photo's and movie clips and then make a DVD that will play on a TV DVD player. I am thinking of purchasing a box set of iLife that includes iDVD and just installing the iDVD component. Can someone  please confirm that tyhis will work? If not any suggestions?

If you have to purchase an iLife disc in order to obtain the iDVD application remember that the iLife 11 disc only provides  themes from iDVD 5-7.  The Software Update no longer installs the earlier themes nor do any of the iDVD 7 updaters available from the Apple Downloads website contain them.
Currently the only sure fire way to get all themes is to start with the iLife 09 disc:
This shows the iDVD contents in the iLife 09 disc via Pacifist:
You then can upgrade from iDVD 7.0.3 to iDVD 7.1.2 via the updaters at the Apple Downloads webpage.

  • IDVD missing on new purchased iMac 21"

    Hello;
is this normal that the iDVD software is not installed on a iMac 21" OS X Lion?
Can i get it through support call? Or is this purchasable option?
Or is there any other software available to burn iMovie content using the builtin DVD writer?
The dvd should be able to play in standard dvd player.
    with kind regards

Make a couple of phone calls.
iDVD is a “Must Have".   (Yes, it should be included.)
Call Apple they will sent out iDVD at no charge.
    800-692-7753
    800-275-2273
If you are still within your 15 day return period,  nicely explain that you may return the computer without iDVD. That usually does the trick.
Most people report that by asking here:   http://www.apple.com/feedback/idvd.html
    or here:   http://www.apple.com/contact/
they got a free copy of iDVD.
If that doesn't work you can purchase iLife 11  (includes iDVD) on disk (don't get the download) for about $39.

  • Using IDVD in IWEB

Is there a way to make my IDVD slideshows work in IWEB? Anyone??

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. No. How did you get the slideshow into iDVD in the first place? If you still have the original media (assuming it is QT files) just add them to the iWeb page. If you came out of iPhoto to iDVD the export the slideshow at a QT movie and use that.
You could use a DVD ripping application to get the slideshow off the DVD (at the expense of image quality) and use that.

  • How can I export iDVD into iWeb Page?

I made a short DVD by sending iPhoto pictures to iDVD. Everything works fine: music, captions etc., but I cannot get it into my iWeb page. Is there any way now to export it to iMovie so iWeb can take it?
    Frank

    Frank:
You need to export the slideshow from iPhoto to a Quicktime movie and then add that movie to iWeb. Did you export just the photos and add the music, captions, etc there?
There are a couple of ways to add a movie to iWeb and avoid having the movie load while the page is loading: 1 - QT movies; 2 - Opening Movie in New, Specially Sized Window.
The key is toexport out of iPhoto as a QT movie.

  • HT4711 How do I download iDVD and iWeb for OS X Lion specifically.

Is there also a version for OS X Mountain Lion, when it releases?

iWeb and iDVD have been discontinued and are no longer offered by Apple.  You can get a copy of each that will run with Lion by purchasing a copy of the boxed iLife 11 disc here: Amazon.com: iLife 11.
These will be the last versions available.  There's been mixed reports about iWeb and Mountain Lion.  Don't know about iDVD as yet.
