No text in emailed PDF.

Hi all,
I am a complete beginner here and have read through the Adobe forums but find it confusing so my question is probably misplaced in the wrong forum category as a result.
I have created a custom form in Lifecycle and attached a button with a 'mailto' submit function to my email address. I have uploaded this form to my website and it opens easily without problems. When sending the form, via email as PDF, the form I recieve is completely blank and has not text.
How can I change this so when the form has been completed users simply have to select the send button and a PDF is sent straight back to my email adress with the information they have included?
This might seem elementary for some, but I am stuck and under pressure so any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks. Rob W

Hi Rob,
Open the form in Acrobat - 9 pro.
Click on Advanced -> Extend features in Adobe Reader - > Save now. When you open it again after saving then you can see the form is working in Adobe Reader.But when you again do some diting this feature will be in activated. You have to again do the same thing to run the form in Adobe Reader.
Niall, has got a very good example on this . http://www.assuredynamics.com/index.php/2010/11/using-livecycle-forms-in-acrobat-and-reade r/
Thanks.

  • Use smart mailbox to find email with specific text in attached pdf

    Does anyone known if a smart mailbox can be created to find emails with specific text within a pdf attached document. I know that spotlight can do this and it works fine but it would suite me better to be able to do this in mail.

    After some digging, I found that Spotlight returns the pdf attachment (found within the library/mail/download folder), but not the actual email. The only time it returns the email is if the search text or numerics are coincidentally within the written contents or subject line.
    Yes, i have tried setting up smart mailbox search criteria using the entire message contents but this does not find emails where the text exist within the pdf.
    I've checked spotlight pref.'s and all categories are checked off.
    Essentally, i need the smartbox search criteria to return results where the search text is found within the pdf attachment if possible. If this is not possible, i'll continue using spotlight searches outside of mail.
    I appreciate any help you can offer.

  • How I save text to a PDF so that I can email the changes?

    I just downloaded adobe acrobat reader for my iPhone 4S. Every time I add text to a PDF and then email it, the recipients never receive the annotated file. They only receive a blank PDF. I don't see any feature to save changes. Please help.

    The changes are saved automatically. Unfortunately, some PDF viewers don't support viewing annotations. One such viewer is the PDF viewer built into iOS and included in the iOS mail app, Safari and other apps like dropbox. Please ensure that your recipients are viewing the PDF in a viewer that supports annotation viewing like the Adobe Reader for iOS, Android, Windows Store, MacOSX or Windows. Some of our competitor's apps support annotation viewing as well, but we're obviously biased towards our own =).

  • Email PDF file name issue via output determination - order confirmation etc

    Hi,
    I can email pdf files via output determination. Unfortunately the file name is same as sapscript name. How do I change it to the name I want for example document number.
    Thanks,
    Jai

    Hi Jaideep,
    You can change the mail title at Output determination.
    T/code NACE--> Application > Outputtype> Select O/P --> select Mail title and texts --> specify your text( with language) in "title" .
    Whenever Script send via e-mail the text you have entered will apear as mail title.
    Hope this may help you.

  • I cannot edit text in a PDF created from scanning

    I am using Adobe XI, and I have created a PDF by scanning a document.
    When I do click on a paragraph to edit text, all the page appears selected, it seems to be an image. At that moment a message pops up saying: this page has not editable text or digitalized content. The editing tools are disabled, so I cannot edit text.
    If I do export a page to Excel or Word, I can edit text there, although there are some kind of data that is not converted properly (even when I have executed OCR).
    I have edited preferences, but I am not sure if I did it correctly.
    Thanks

    I am using Acrobat XI Pro on PC.
    Of course, I have done all the steps you mention,  but I wanted someone to confirm me if these setting values are correct in order to obtain the best results. I repeat the paragraph of my previous discussion that I want to clarify, just in case some of you can help me, mainly about optimization
    I digitalized the document from the scanner. This scanner is installed in the net, so I personalized the settings in Acrobat and I chose memory mode instead of native mode.
    Mode color: black on white
    Resolution: 600 ppp
    As you say in your mail, I understand I should choose ClearScan OCR not searchable just at this moment.
    Well, and what about the options of optimization?, JBIG2 (without lost)?, 4 CCITT?
    And filters?, I have: activated, low, activated, medium
    Are these values congruous or compatible?
    Thank you

  • When I add text to a PDF, I am forced to change the file name rather than just updating the current file.  Why?

    I have been doing the same process for months and until recently I could just add text to a pdf, click save, adobe would ask me if I wanted to replace the current file, I'd say yes and we would be done.  Now I get a message that says "The document could not be saved.  Cannot save to this filename. Please save the document with a different name or in a different folder." It does this about 70% of the time.  The rest of the time it works like it used to.

    You cannot skip arguments, you can either use the function with one
    argument (just the required argument), or you have to provide all of them.
    Also, it looks like you are trying to specify 20 parameters, even though
    the function only takes 19. Try the following:
    Call jso.addWaterMarkFromText("Test Text", jso.app.Constants.Align.Center,
    jso.Font.Helv, 16, _
        jso.Color.Black, 0, 0, True, True, True, _
        jso.app.Constants.Align.Center, jso.app.Constants.Align.Center, _
        100, 100, False, 1, False, 0, 1)
    I just typed this in without running it through the compiler, so there may
    be typos in the code, but you should get the idea of how the code is
    supposed to look like.

  • External Email (PDF Attachment) while PO is created or Changed

    Hi All,
    I have a requirement as below.
    1. When a PO is created / changed then saved, the PO Form is to be sent to the respective vendor through External Email along with the PO Form printout generated.
    2. The PO Form is to be attached in the Email (PDF Document).
    Please write to me if you have a suitable solution for this requirement.
    I have created the PO Form in SAPScript. Is it possible to develop the above requirement in SmarForm? Please suggest me.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Kannan.

    Since you are using SAPScript I thought this solution would be simpler. We are also using SAPScript and email all document types when necessary.
    1. As suggested before: create an output type as an email type (Same as mornal output just the value 8 for transmission medium).
    2. For ease of maintainance I copied the associated printing program to a new program and link this new program to the output type as normal.
    3. In your print program make the following changes.
    (a) include code below just before your open form. You can read the email address from whereever you have them. In this example they are read from a custom z* table ZEMAIL_TEMP . Sometimes we read them from customer master, vendor master etc.
    (b) make sure you have the folowing export parameter in your "START_FORM" Function module
         MAIL_RECIPIENT = RECIPIENT_OBJ
    4. Make sure your conversion rules are set properly. Transaction code SCOT Setting-->Conversion Rules
    SAPScript text is an OTF type. We are converting our forms to PDF so we have the following entry:
    Format = OTF
    Format to = PDF
    Ranking = 1
    Function Module = SX_OBJECT_CONVERT_OTF_PDF</b>
    5. The are other bells and whistles (like changing the email header) that I can happily share once/if you are happy with your solution.
    Hope I am not missing any vital info.
    Good Luck

    When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
    (1) Bypass Firefox's Cache
    Use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.
    (You also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:
    orange Firefox button ''or'' Tools menu > Options > Advanced
    On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now")
    (2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first) using either of these. While viewing a page on the site:
    * right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
    * Alt+t (open the classic Tools menu) > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
    Then try reloading the page. Does that help?
    These features rely on JavaScript, and it sounds as though you have scripting enabled if you get (the wrong) color changes. Some add-ons might alter the way scripts operate, so a standard diagnostic to bypass interference by extensions (and some custom settings) is to try Firefox's Safe Mode.
    First, I recommend backing up your Firefox settings in case something goes wrong. See [[Backing up your information]]. (You can copy your entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder.)
    Next, restart Firefox in Firefox's Safe Mode ([[Safe Mode]]) using
    Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
    In the dialog, click "Start in Safe Mode."
    If those features work correctly, this points to one of your extensions or custom settings as the problem.
    To also disable plugins, you can use this page:
    orange Firefox button ''or'' classic Tools menu > Add-ons > Plugins category
    Any change?

  • How to extract text from a PDF file?

    Hello Suners,
    i need to know how to extract text from a pdf file?
    does anyone know what is the character encoding in pdf file, when i use an input stream to read the file it gives encrypted characters not the original text in the file.
    is there any procedures i should do while reading a pdf file,
    File f=new File("D:/File.pdf");
                   FileReader fr=new FileReader(f);
                   BufferedReader br=new BufferedReader(fr);
                   String s=br.readLine();any help will be deeply appreciated.

    First, you set i once, and then loop without ever changing it. So your loop body will execute either 0 times or infinitely many times, writing the same byte every time. Actually, maybe it'll execute once and then throw an ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException. That's basic java looping, and you're going to need a firm grip on that before you try to do anything as advanced as PDF reading. the case.oops you are absolutely right that was a silly mistake to forget that,
    Second, what do the docs for getPageContent say? Do they say that it simply gives you the text on the page as if the thing were a simple text doc? I'd be surprised if that's the case.getPageContent return array of bytes so the question will be:
    how to get text from this array? i was thinking of :

                while(i>-1){
                    buff.append(data);
    i++;
    String str=buff.toString();
    FileOutputStream fos = new FileOutputStream("D:/test.txt");
    Writer out = new OutputStreamWriter(fos, "UTF8");
    out.write(str);
    out.close();
    read.close();

    Hi
    I've a big problem with adobe acrobat reader XI pro and I hope you can help me.
    The problem is; when I past copied text from some pdf books (not all of them) it past symbols only! wherever I past it! and even if I coped that text from another pdf reader (adobe pdf reader, internet browsers, ...etc.).
    This problem started to happen since yesterday when I installed adobe acrobat reader XI pro to try it before I buy it, and before that when I was using the free adobe pdf reader I was totally able to copy any text from any pdf and past it anywhere with nothing wrong.
    What can I do?
    thank you a lot.

    There is no product called Adobe Acrobat Reader Pro. There is
    - Adobe Acrobat Pro ($$)
    - Adobe Reader (free)
    Which do you have? And are you a programmer?

  • I can't edit text on a pdf file in adobe acrobat

    I need to edit the text on the pdf file but I can't and this message keeps showing up: " This form cannot be edited in Acrobat. Please use Adobe LiveCycle Designer to edit this form.

    I downloaded the adobe livecycle designer but I couldn't edit the text there either... When I open the file it says the text is not downloaded so it replaced it with another text, I clicked ok but then the text didn't change, This message showed up:
    I really need to edit the text on this pdf file because it's important. Can anyone help? Greatly appreciate it. By the way, this is a pdf fillable form that you can fill out on acrobat and that is the only thing it seems like it will let me do this file. I don't want to fill it out, I want to edit whats on it. It's one of those forms that you get from NJ courts.

    Ok, what we can tell you is that if this is a LiveCycle form (and we can be pretty sure it is), that you are absolutely right. Acrobat can fill it, and nothing else. These are a very special kind of PDF, where all the text is in a special XML format that Acrobat can only show, not edit.
    So, you are on the right track: if it can be edited, you need LiveCycle Designer. Unfortunately, we don't know much about it in this forum, so please try posting here: http://forums.adobe.com/community/livecycle/livecycle_modules_and_development_tools/livecy cle_designer_es
    If the form is publicly available, it may help if you include the URL (web address) when you post.
