No Themes available in imovie HD

I've noticed this problem posted plenty, but none of the situations seems to mirror mine. I will start with a disclaimer that I am a complete novice both in computer lingo as well as this particular program.
I've recently needed to create photo slideshows with music, that I then need to export as video for sharing (such as youtube). I was using iphoto, and the Ken Burnes effect theme. Nice, simple tool, but the exports come out as various levels of crap - either the music is off, or the photos lose their quality. I have been exporting as an mp4, using various sizes, nothing works. Export to quicktime is the worst of all. SO - I decided to teach myself to use imovie instead. I do not recall if this came on my computer, or whether it migrated off my laptop (which has since gone DOA). I don't believe I have any original discs for these programs.
I mac running 10.6.8 and iMovie HD6.0.3. I also have I movie'11 9.0.4 and IDVD.
The imovie has themes, but not the ken burns effect, although it has something under the window pull down that says Cropping, Ken Burns and Rotation. Doesn't seem to do anything - but again - I'm brand new, and self learning.
In iMovie HD Theme section it does not recognize any Themes. When I click on Themes all I can see are two small blue movie windows in the Theme screen. Clicking on them does nothing. The bar above says that no Theme can be found and there are no other options. I have tried the suggestion to look for it in application support - but neither imovie is there, although they are both in my applications folder.
I have tried all suggestions I have found in these forums, as well as updating the programs, and in the case of Imovie HD - re- downloading it from CNET.
I'm really stuck, and have a few of these I have to put together for a Boy Scout presentation next week. Would really appreciate any help. thanks

Look inside your HD/Library/Application Support/iPhoto folder to see if the themes are in there. If so then run Disk Utility to repair disk permissions and reboot. Then try again. If not you can reinstall iPhoto as follows: To do so you'll have to move the current application to a folder outside the Applications folder (like your Documents folder). Then delete all files with "iPhoto" in the file name with either a .PKG or .BOM extension that reside in the HD/Library/Receipts folder and from the /var/db/receipts/ folder,

Then go to the App Store and download iPhoto again.

I just bought a new Macbook Pro today and I'm trying to make a movie with iMovie but none of the project themes are available. When I go to File, Project themes is light gray and can't be selected. Likewise, when I click the "T" icon, it says "no themes." It's as if I'm missing the folder of project themes completely. Has anyone else experienced this?

Thank you for your clear answer! All the answers from Google I found apparently came from people that purchased Mountain Lion from the App Store instead of having it pre-installed, which got me confused.
I purchased the Macbook new from an authorised reseller, not directly from an Apple Store. However the store is pretty big and common in Holland (www.dixons.nl) so that won't be an issue.
So you're saying I can simple put the SSD in, boot with command+R while being connected to the internet and install through the recovery partition directly of the internet.
Seems like a very easy system, I guess i'm just used to old fashion having the operating system on an external drive or cd in order to make a clean install.
*Will it be a problem to leave the original HDD in alongside with the new SSD? I guess in the boot menu you can choose what to do with each drive?
I will be using the original 500gig HDD for storage, simply installing the SSD in order to boost he performance of the Macbook.

I compose an iMessage with the destination as my email address and I attach 2 photos I want on my PC. I send them several times from my iPhone 5C but they never arrive. I look at my ipad later and realize that it's iMessage app is getting ( and swallowing) these emails. I then turn the ipad off. Still can't get the photos through because iphone is now getting them on it's iMessage. I turn off the iMessage feature and try to send photos from text msging. Phone tells me it can't send photos unless iMessage it turned on. What happened to regular MMS text messaging? I go and try to send photos as an email attachment and see that there is no option to attach from the stupid email program. I look up online to learn about the brave new world of apple attachments and send them.

Did not work. I've selected iMessage to ON and left it. After a few hours I recieved a message "activation unsuccessful. Turn on iMessage to try again". This has been going on for the past 3 days.

How to remove large number of "sent" but still keep them available in case I need to search for something?

Over several years, I have accumulated some 1400 messages in the SENT folder.
Lately my Thunderbird is taking a long time for some actions that used to be instant, like selecting another message to read or delet.
I regularly remove incoming messages to keep the in-box under 300, and I have almost nothing in the other folders.
I tried changing the "local folders" to a different directory, but when I do that, all the old "sent" messages become un-available for searching and potentially continuing a conversation.
Is there a way to move the large number of "sent" messages from the "local folders" but still keep them available for access from within Thunderbird, in case I need something from past chains of replies?

In Address Book, why does Apple let you create custom fields in the Template cards but not have them available for importing?

I open Address Book, go into Preferences, select Template and under the Names field (friend, assistant, father, etc) I add a custom field called "Principal".
I also add two more custom fields in the Email area.
Quit Address Book then relaunch. Add a new contact and the new custom fields, Principal, etc. are there. All good so far.
I have a Now Contact file with about 200 contacts in it. I export all fields as a Text file, Tab delimited. No problems there. With Address Book launched, select Import, pick the text file, leave Text Encoding on Automatic and click Open.
The window that shows the fields for Address Book and fields for the text file side by side opens. This is where you match up the correct fields for importing. If I go to one of the fields from the text file that I created a custom field for, click under the Address Book heading on the Do not import, scroll thru the Apple choices of fields, none of the custom fields show up. Only the original Apple ones are there. Why does Apple let you create them in the Template area but not have them available for importing? Does anyone have suggestions on getting around this?

While most likely not of interest to you, Spotlight can also tell you where the files it finds are located
Hover the mouse pointer over the name, and press Command-Option and the path to the file will be displayed.
As for opening a terminal session in the directory where a file is located, there is Applescripts that do just that as well as specific features in Lion/Mountain Lion terminal:

I haven't launched iMovie in a while, and I've used iPhoto to import many videos from my iPhone's Camera Roll since the last time I launched and used iMovie.
iMovie prompted me to create/update the thumbnails for my iPhoto videos, along with indicating no iPhoto videos will be available with iMovie until this is completed.
Not sure how to do this manually, but this may be your problem.

Hi, i´m synchronizing AD (Active Directory) with OID and i´ve need to create some new attributes on OID, using ODM, because they exist on AD and will be synchronized.
The question is, will those new attributes available when i create a new user, through OIDDAS? What do i need to do to turn them available, case negative?

Are there any additional Captivate themes available?

I have been tasked with designed and producing a series of e-learning courses and although I have ID experience, I am not a graphics designer. There are a handful of themes available in Captivate 8, but I was hoping to have a wider selection. Are there any additional themes available for download? I have found one site (elearningbrothers) but we do not have the budget available. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks, Andy

If you're a graphic designer, I would fully expect you to be capable of creating your own themes. It's not that hard.
Google for the Youtube videos by Pooja Jaisingh about creating themes for Captivate 7, then go for it.

Make custom theme available for the "Create new app" wizard

I have a general problem. Imagine you have created a theme for ApEx. The theme makes applications look as demanded by the design principles of a company. The company now wants everyone developing ApEx applications to use the developed theme.
But It seems to me that there is no easy way of doing this. When I create a new application, I can only see the standard themes defined in the repository. If I want a new application to use the developed theme, I have to exort the theme once, and import it for any application I create (after creating the application, of course :-( ). This is cumbersome. And maybe a point of discussion in many companies.
Is there a way to exchange a predefined theme in the repository through a custom theme? Or even better: Add a predefined theme to the repository? The important thing is to make the theme available for all applications in an instance without importing the theme again and again.
If there is no possibility to do this, this is an enhancement request. How about a possibility to import new themes globally for all applications (maybe from the INTERNAL workspace). Or how about putting a "Import Theme" Upload field on the "Select Theme" page in the application creation wizard?

Hello,
I'll put an enhancement request for that, there might even already be one. The way you are doing it right now is pretty much the easiest way.
One way I do it is I have a stub application that has just a couple blank pages and the proper themes and templates. Then all someone has to do is install the blank application and start working on that, it just takes a couple steps out of the theme switching issue.

In PSE11 Adobe moved most of the backgrounds, frames, graphics and themes online. That's why you are not able to see those themes, as those are still not downloaded in your machine.
You will have to keep your Editor launched (with internet connection on) for sometime, in order to see the thumbnails.The online content is differentiated by a blue ribbon on them. Double click on the blue ribboned thumbnail to download the actual content.
Adobe did this to save lot of amout of space on your machine, and make installtion process faster.

I overcame this problem in the past by making an ipod version or loading them on to iMovie and then sharing them but this method no longer works. THere is no problem viewing them on my computer and everything else synchs okay to the iPod so what is going on and how can I overcome this problem?

Double check to make sure podcasts are configured to sync to your device from under the iPod's Podcast configuration tab.
To access the Podcasts tab for your iPod, plug your iPod in and click on it from under theDevices section in the left hand pane of iTunes. This will bring you to the Summary tab. Along the top you should see a Podcasts tab, so go ahead and click on it. Here you can configure how and what podcasts sync to your iPod.
If you do make any changes to do this tab, make sure to hit the Apply button in the lower right hand corner to apply the update changes to your device.
Otherwise, are you getting any error messages when you sync your iPod Classic with iTunes?

By reinstalling iPhoto from either the disks that came with your Mac, the iLife disk you purchased or the Apps Store.

When in IPHOTO, it will not print a picture. A window opens that says "no theme available."

To re-install iPhoto
1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2a: On 10.5: Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows: In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
/var/db/receipts/
2c: on 10.7 they're at
/private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
If you purchased it on the App Store or have a Recent Mac you can find it in your Purchases List.
