No thumbnails appear in iweb media for photos

Back in Jan, this question was asked but I could not find the answer to this topic and it had a green star. Sorry to be redundant but this just happened. Could someone please help me out ? Thank you in advance.
When I select media on iWeb, iWeb pulls up my iphoto folders and not the thumbnails within the folders. My folder names appear and I can not click on them. Therefore, I can not drag any of my photos into iWeb. Any advice on why this is suddenly happening?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Do you see the iPhoto, Events and Photos icons in the browser window? If so look at the bottom frame of the media browser for a dimple. Click and drag it upward to display the thumbnails of any icon selected above as seen in this screenshot.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Iphoto does not appear in iweb media browser

I am just getting started w/ iWeb anad have 2 questions:
    1. I have iPhoto 6.0.6. My iPhoto library does not appear in the iWeb media browser. How do I fix this?
    2. Why can't I highlight a movie from my iPhoto library and publish it to iWeb? How do I get a movie from iPhoto to iWeb?
    thank you!

Where are your images sourced from? Are they all coming from the same camera for example? It could be that there is actually a white border on your images.
Try opening a few images up in an image editor and checking if there is a trim around the edge.

  • Using other storage media for photos

PSA Starter Edition 3.2 has a dialog box to facilitate storing photos on CDs, thereby freeing up hard drive space on my computer. However, I have LOTS of photos. I wonder about using flash drives instead - each one can hold so much more. I can't find anything in PSA SE 3.2 to guide me in doing this. I know I can copy the files from Windows Explorer onto a flash drive, but that doesn't free up the hard drive space. I can copy to the flash drive and then delete the photos from the hard drive, but then the thumbprints will disappear that remind me of the photos' existence, preserve the tags, and tell me which CD to go fetch if I want to do something with the photos.
I also wonder which will last better as long-term storage: CDs or flash drives.
Does anybody have and experience with storing large numbers of photos? CDs? Flash drives? Other media?
By the way, I actually like the way PSA makes it easy to find, sort, and label photos. I find that its simple editing tools are all that's needed most of the time, and the photos are easily imported into PS Elements for more complex editing when needed - although then the file extension changes and PSA can't find the edited photo any more! Oh well, nothing's perfect.
I hope someone out there has experience with long-term storage of large numbers of photos.
    Sarah

    Hey Sarah,
You can move your pictures to the flash drive through explorer and then reconnect your thumbnails in Photoshop Album Starter Edition to the images through File>Reconnect>Browse and mentioning the flash drive path for few pics.
Afterwards you can let the images get reconnected automatically as it will now take place faster once the application has located the path. Ensure that all the images have been reconnected and then remove the flash drive from your USB port. I think that your files will be shown as offline files indicated by an icon that looks like a CD at the corner of each image.
Hope that you find this information handy.
    Cheers,
    Chhaya

  • ITunes not appearing in iWeb Media Pane

Photos, Movies and Widgets load fine, but nothing from ITunes. Anyone have an idea for me? Thanks!

First, try the troubleshooting steps under "Fix iWeb" here.....
    http://www.iwebformusicians.com/WebMusic/iWebTips.html
Make sure you run Disk Utility to repair permissions.
I seem to remember that the last iLife update required a lot of permission repairs related to the media viewer.
If that doesn't do it, you may have to try reinstalling. Before doing this, make sure that this problem is not just related to iWeb. Look to see if the media window is functioning correctly in the other iLife apps.

What can I do to get the media "pictures" to open up again during work in iweb?

When you click the media button in iWeb, a window should appear and then you select photos from the top menu bar. You should see an icon with iPhoto beside it. If the little black triangle is pointing to the icon, click the triangle and it will point downwards to give you a list of your albums etc.
Down at the bottom of the window is a grey bar with a dot in the center. Hover your mouse on the dot and it will become a +. Click, hold and drag upwards to reveal the photos in whichever album you selected. This business of revealing the actual photos when you can't see them causes confusion when you have a lot of stuff in iPhoto as it pushes the actual photos out of sight.

  • IMovie 'tap to insert media', but no thumbnails appear

I have over a hundred photos and 10+ videos (all taken with the iPhone 4), but when I 'tap to insert media', followed by selecting either video or photos, no thumbnails appear; i.e. there is nothing to select from. What am I missing here?

I did and I did... I tapped [+] and picked my project theme, next screen 'tap [(downarrow)] to insert media'... did that. Next screen, choose 'video', photos, or audio'... did that. Then zip, no camera roll, no thumbnails, nothing.

  • When I drag a photo to the timeline on iMovie, a different photo appears.  I've tried recreating thumbnails, and also created the problem photos in a test library.

When I drag a photo to the timeline on i-Movie sometimes a different photo, or even a video appear and sometimes it is just a black screen.  I've tried recreating thumbnails, and even copied the problem photos into a test library, but still can't get it to work.  Genius Bar kept my laptop 6 days and didn't do anything to help, just said the project was corrupt and I would need to recreate.  Just tried a completely new project with totallty different photos and still experiencing the same problem.  Anyone else had this issue?

    (2) Simply because under iOS, the app isn't supposed to import iWork '08 files.
The internal description of the document is really different in '08 and '09.
To get more help, ask in the forum dedicated to iWork for iOS.

Have you recently deleted photos using the finder or run clean up software?  Is so restore your backup
If not the backup your iPhoto Library and launch iPhoto while depressing the option and command keys. Rebuild your database

  • I have forgotten my restrictions passcode and i dont want to lose any media on my iphone, or any apps, i am scared to back up my media for restore in future as these photos and videos mean a great deal to me, is there any way i could get around it? Thanks

I have forgotten my restrictions passcode and i dont want to lose any media on my iphone, or any apps, i am scared to back up my media for restore in future as these photos and videos mean a great deal to me, is there any way i could get around it? Thankyou if you can help; oh and last time i restored my iphone it didnt restore ALL the media only some and very improtant photos went missing :(

All media and apps on the device should already be in iTunes on the computer.
If you have forgotten the restrictions passcode, the ONLY option is to restore as new.
Then sync back any media, apps, contacts, etc back to the device.
You can not restore from backup as the restrictions passcode is included in the backup.

  • IWeb - looking for replacements for 'blog' & 'photos'

With a deep Sigh..., I am finally facing up to the fact that I must move my iWeb Websites to another hosting sight and deal with the loss of the intergrated blog & photo pages that come with iWeb.  I kept hoping for a miracle but now I must get on with it.  I would be grateful for advice from those who have dealt with this issue already.
My biggest concern is finding suitable replacements for the blog and photo galleries that can be embedded into iWeb having a matching 'look and feel'.
I have developed many robust (well of 50) websites with iWeb and they are active websites.   The websites have:
Custom layouts (i.e. not using the suppled defalut template)
Blog pages (used as 'News' entries)
    Photo pages
    iMovie
    HTML Snipits
Many have been designed for use with charity events and recieve quite a bit of traffic (see stats below) before and during the event.
As for the hosting - we will use GoDaddy or other Domain Provide with Hosting services.   We have already moved some of the more less complicated websites over.
I love iWeb (I know it has it's faults and I have probably pushed it to it's limits but it has handled it well).  I have tried looking at other products like Rapidweaver & Freeway Pro (Dreamweaver would be out of the question for me as I'm not a programmer - I can deal with some basic html code for snippets and such - but that's my limit).  My partner has begun looking at Wordpress.  However, the biggest drawback from what I've seen from these other products is that I can't duplicate the freedom and ease of designing a template/layout the way I want it.  I have tried to duplicate a website I have done in iWeb and I simply can't do it with these other products (at least without a great deal of work - if at all).
So, I wish to continue using iWeb for the main website desgin but desparately need to find good replacements for the blog and photo galleries to move over my existing websites.
    Please HELP!
This is my 1st time up on the forums so I do apologise if this has been dealt with before.  In my searches - I just haven't really found an answer which is why I'm submitting this question.
    Many thanks, MichelleSC
P.S. I have been an Apple user since Apple began and have always raved about their products.   This is the 1st time I have been frustration with Apple.  I really wish they would continue to develop iWeb and keep Mobileme.

Do you have visitors post comments to your blog or it is one the only includes your entries?  If it's the atter then you can continue to use the iWeb blog. If you currently have visitors comment on the entires you will have to move to a new blogging system, one of those suggested by Ethmoid and Jeff.
As for photo albums I've just run across a new site called ZangZig which offers albums similar to MobileMe galleries with most of it's features plus one that MMe didn't have.  The capability of selling your photos.
One convenient feature of it is that it can move/copy photos from your existing MMe galleries as well as your iPhoto library and other sources:
As for for iWeb can do after MMe is gone read the following:
On June 30, 2012 MobileMe will be shutdown. HOWEVER, iWeb will still continue to work but without the following:
Features No Longer Available Once MobileMe is Discontinued:
    ◼ Password protection
    ◼ Blog and photo comments
    ◼ Blog search
    ◼ Hit counter
    ◼ MobileMe Gallery
Currently if the site is published directly from iWeb to the 3rd party server the RSS feed and slideshow subscription features will work. However, if the site is first published to a folder on the hard drive and then uploaded to the sever with a 3rd party FTP client those two features will be broken.
All of these features can be replaced with 3rd party options.
There's another problem and that's with iWeb's popup slideshows.  Once the MMe servers are no longer online the popup slideshow buttons will not display their images.
However, Roddy McKay and I have figured out a way to modify existing sites with those slideshows and iWeb itself so that those images will display as expected once MobileMe servers are gone.  How to is described in this tutorial: iW14 - Modify iWeb So Popup Slideshows Will Work After MobileMe is Discontinued.  There's a link in the tutorial to download the file that one needs to be edited and replaced in existing slideshows and in the iWeb application for future slideshows. Once replaced in the application it's back to life as usual for iWeb.

what will be the new alternatives for iWeb publishing,  Idisk & photo gallery ?

Thanks for the reply that there will be 3rd party support.
One of the main reasons why I went from PC to Mac was because of all these cool features.
Am dissapointed to see them leave.  ( Iweb, Photogallery, Idisk... )

  • Does iWeb automatically compress photos for faster loading? Or should I do it first? Thx

Hi everyone, when I look at the large photo in the "white" theme's Welcome template, I wonder when I drag and drop one of my photos in, does iWeb compress the photo for faster loading? Or should I compress them before adding to site?
By "compress" I mean, make photo file size smaller! :)
    Thx! :)

In iWeb Preferences you can optimze images on import. But I always scale most of my images to 800 x 600 pixels prior to importing. I do this in Graphic Coverter which also makes the image files smaller by taking unneeded information out of the file, which also reduces the file size.
    In Graphic Converter
