No Thumbnails For NEF's from Mem Card or CD

Hello,
I have a problem that just started in Bridge(never happened before). When I try to preview NEF files in Bridge I get a Photoshop icon and no thumbnail preview. I can't open these images from Bridge either. If I copy the files to my harddrive I can view and open them as normal. What is causing this?

I encounter a similar problem, I can upload images from a Nikon D3 to bridge via a card reader, view thumbnails and use all Bridge functions. When uploading images from a Nikon D 90 using the card reader, instead of thumbnails I get a Nef decal. The images are uploaded and can be opened in Photoshop. But I am not able to view the images and perform any Bridge functions, such as removing rejects and creating collection.
Today I uploaded images directly from the D 90 and the thumbnails appeard in the import dialog, once import was complete I again ended up with the Nef decal instead of the thumbnails.
Any advise would be very welcome.

No Thumbnails for RAW imagages from SDHC Card

I just purchased the 1Ds Mark III and when I bring in images from the CF card, I have thumbnails. When I bring in images from the SDHC card, no thumbnails. I can double click and open them in CS3 just fine however.
It is INCREDIBLY inconvenient to not be able to preview files! I have to open each and every file which is completely unacceptable and time consuming.
Anyone know what's up with this?

No one has responded with a solution. Many of the posts just end so the reader does not know if a solution was found or the problem still exists.

Zen MX and accesing music from Mem Card

'Every single time I want to listen to music from my memory card on my ZEN MX it goes throught this long "building music library" phase before the music is playable. It takes almost 5 minutes of waiting while this library complies.
This happens EVERY SINGLE TIME.
How do I get around this so I can just instantly play music from the mem card?

Take a backup of messages on PC using Nokia suite. Repalce the card and restore messages...
For transfering these messages to Phone memory you may follow the same procedure but change the settings : Messaging -> Options -> Settings -> Other -> Memory in use: change from "Memory card" to "Phone memory" and perform the operation of restore without putting in the new memory card...

Thumbnails for Nef files with upated exposure in Capture NX2 revert to original exposure

I did a batch processing in Nikon Capture NX2 to update the exposure for all Nef files in a folder.
When displayed in Bridge (CS6) the thumbnails at first show the thumbnail with the updated exposure, then slowly updates all the thumbnails to the original exposure.
How do I get Bridge to display the thumbnails with the updated exposure and keep bridge from reverting back to the original exposure?

You can set different default parameters for Adobe Camera RAW, but they are still default parameters and this is what Camera RAW uses to render the RAW file instead of the parameters saved in the RAW file by either the camera or Capture NX2.
The camera saves a low quality jpg image in the NEF file (you can't change this) and if you edit the NEF file with Capture NX2 or View NX2 it saves a high quality jpg image in the NEF file, which increases file size by a considerable amount.
I process everything from the RAW file using Photoshop CS6 Adobe Camera RAW. I have all in camera parameters set to nominal, active D Lighting off, and use Camera Neutral with a custom tone curve that was generated using the Picture Control editor. In Camera RAW I use Camera Neutral v4 with the same custom tone curve as I used in modification of the Picture control profile. My Camera RAW default is set using the modified Camera Netural v4 profile and I get excellent agreemnet between the Camera jpg and Camera RAW.

5800 files deleted from mem card in mass storage -...

I have connected my phone via USB mass storage and deleted some MP3s
however
there is no extra free space showing on the phone (in File Manager)
I had this problem before and it somehow fixed it self after a reboot/sync, but this time it isn't working.
I reallly can't face the hassle of soft/hard reset/card format - life is too short!

I had activated the silent profile & was listening to music in the handset, I received a message & the handset restarted. then all the messages in the handset were deleted. I had around 1300 messages. I tried a lot to retrieve those messages, but couldn't find any solution. I guess you cannot retrieve the deleted messages.

On your BlackBerry, navigate to the VCF file in question and open it... click save to contacts.
I believe you will need to do that for EACH contact VCF file, you cannot import them en masse, the way you are doing this.

Any work around for importing NEFs modified from NX2 or LR?

I just got Aperture. Here is workflow I have a question for. I make changes in NX2 of the original NEF. I attempt to import the modified NEF into Aperture and Aperture will not even show a thumbnail of it.
1st, why doesn't Aperture at least import the original NEF, preferably the last modified NEF, either from NX2 or LR? As a note, Photo Mechanic will show the modified NEF, and LR will only show the original NEF.
2nd, if I convert it to a TIFF from NX2, which Aperture then can import, what do I loose from the NEF, if anything should I want to again modify at a later time (capturing in 14 bit)?
Any suggestions?

You need to do a bit of homework on the nature of RAW and, to a lesser degree, the differences between Aperture and Lightroom and a pixel editor like Photoshop.
-- A RAW file is not an image. It is literally the raw output of the sensor. It cannot be edited, only read by a RAW converter, or, if you prefer, developer. At this time, there is no program that can actually edit RAW data.
-- Capture NX reads your raw NEF. If you make "edits" they are merely changes to the development processing; the original raw data are never changed. Capture NX can, indeed write these changes back to the NEF, but they are stored in a separate part of the file, that only CNX can read.
-- AP and LR have their own RAW development routines (LR uses Adobe Camera RAW). They read the RAW and store their "edits" in separate files, stored in their databases. These files are recombined, on the fly, everytime you view a file.
-- Thus AP cannot read "edits" performed in LR (or CNX) and vice versa.
-- The only workaround is to open a RAW in the program of your choice, make the "edits" ("adjustments" in AP speak) that you want, and then save a copy as a TIFF, JPEG, or similar. Thus you could open your file in CNX and save as a TIFF that you send to AP.

If it is trying to verify your payment info, I would be willing to guess that it is looking for the security code for your credit card. Did you credit card just get replaced lately or the expiration date change? When is the last time that you updated your payment information in iTunes?

I have a Mac Mini, and it won't accept connecting my Sony video camera. So I got a SD mem card reader to unload my movies from. It worked the first time I used it a few months ago. This time it says it doesn't recognize the format I am trying to use?

I have all thenecessary updates. I have switched over from a PC to Mac back in April and have nad nothing but problems adapting. I don't know why this worked the first time, and put my videos inti imovie, and now it doesn't recognize it at all. And the Mem card reader does work, because I just put the SD card from my regular camera into it and it downloaded those fine, it just won't take my movies!

Which sony camera? I have a Sony HDR-CX550 right now and have been able to use the SD card as well as connect the camera directly. I also had CX110 that work too. You may want to try to copy the complete top level folder from the SD card to the Hard drive, then try to "import from Camera archive" and select that folder.
