No thumbnails in Bridge CS3

I am working with CS 3 and Camera Raw 4.6. In PS RAW files can be opened and processed, but in Bridge I do not see the thumbnails. Instead, only small file icons appear with the file name at the bottom. Reinstalling Camera Raw did not help - any ideas what is wrong? The RAW converter file is installed correctly as described by Adobe

>By "RAW converter file" I mean the plug-in that I downloaded from the Adobe homepage.
That's unclear. Both the DNG Converter and the Camera Raw Plug-in can be downloaded from the Adbe downloads page. :/
You want the Camera Raw
plug-in, not the DNG
Converter.
Did you remove the old Camera Raw plug-in when you updated to ACR 4.6? Are you sure you are in the ROOT LEVEL Library and not your user Library?
Also, I'm assuming you quit both Photoshop
and
Bridge before updating, then re-launched both applications afterwards?
Purge the Cache for each offending folder through the Tools menu in Bridge.

  • DNG Files Appearing as Icon not Thumbnail in Bridge CS3

    Hi
If I save a Camera Raw manipulated image as a COMPRESSED (LOSSLESS) DNG file it appears back in CS3 Bridge as a DNG Icon and not as a thumbnail.
Is there a reason for this and can I get the saved file to appear as a thumbnail.
    Many thanks

Bridge 2.x, the one that comes with CS3, is easily the worst piece of software ever released by Adobe or any other major company, in my view.  It should have been fixed for free, but it wasn't.
Cache management is extremely poor in Bridge CS3.  Purge the Cache for the offending folders through the Tools menu in Bridge.  DO NOT use the global purge command in Bridge preferences.
Fortunately, Bridge 3.x in CS4 is much, much better.

  • Thumbnails in Bridge CS3 for ACR 4.6 not available

I have a problem, that I can open raw files per double click, but I dont get a preview in Bridge for my Canon EOS 50D.
Also if I use the mouse button open in camera raw is not available. If I use open from the menu, the raw is opened in ACR 4.6 correctly.
Also purging the chache was no success
    ANy tipps?
I reinstalled until now two times without any success

    Hi Jim,
I will check if I have another version in place. Maybe now I get a problem because I use Bridge for viewing the new pictures, classifying by tags. For searches later on I have Photoshop elements because of it´s fast database. For PSE I now need Version 7 with Camera Raw 5.2, for Bridge and CS3 (more complex actions for improving my pictures) I had to install ACR 4.6.
From Bridge I can open the pictures with "open" and 4.6 appears before entering CS3. But in Bridge the option "open with camera raw" is not available.
Hopefully I only have 2 ACR 4.x versions in the CS3 directories. This would be easy to solve. Otherwise it seems to get more and more enerving to find the error.

  • In Bridge CS3, Camera Raw 4.4.1. doesn't open

I try to open ARW-files (RAW-SONY) by clicking thumbnails in Bridge CS3,
but Camera Raw 4.4.1. doesn't open. I have all the necessary plugins installed.
Camera Raw 4.4.1. only starts up by directly using Photoshop.
    what can be the problem?

    >Is too much asked if you send me the upgrate for Bridge
To be honest, yes it is :-(
The Bridge update is 58,9 MB and the PSCS3 upgrade is 170 MB
E-mail can only send attachments from max 10 MB. If you have an ftp-account you can sent me the log in using my e-mail adress that is under my profile (double click on my name). I can use the ftp route to sent them to you.
Since we are in the same country and I can reach the updates without problems I give you the direct links so you can try once more:

  • Adobe Bridge CS3 - does not display thumbnails for Canon 40D or 50D RAW files

I wanted to use Bridge to view my Canon EOS 50D RAW files and it does not display the thumbnails, just icons. I checked my 40D cr2 files and saw same thing.
I have purged the cache and rest the cache preferences and it has not helped. I would like to be abl eto view the thumbnails of the RAW files via Bridge if possible. Jpg files and Tif files can be viewed without any issues.
Am using Bridge version 2.1.1.9 and Pshop CS3 10.0.1

I have the exact same problem. I can view my RAW file thumbnails (which are .ARW files from my Sony A200 camera) in the Finder and in other applications, such as Preview, but not in Adobe Bridge CS3. I know that I did try purging the cache at one point to see if that would fix it, but then I didn't know what to do after that. Before I purged the cache, I was able to view RAW thumbnails in Bridge, but then they would not increase in size when I tried using the slider (at the bottom right of the Bridge window)

  • NEF Thumbnails not displaying in Bridge CS3

I decided to dip my toe into RAW images. However unlike jpegs and tiffs the NEF thumbnails are not rendering in Bridge CS3. However when I double-click on an unrendered thumbnail it does open normally. As seeing thumbnails would be very helpful I decided to do a software update to see if this would cure the problem. During the install process I got the following message - Installation Incomplete - The Updater is unable to locate the product to be updated - Adobe Camera Raw 4.6 Update failed to install.
Outcome - NEF thumbnails still not rendering.  By the way my NEF images were produced on a Nikon D60.
Help would be appreciated. Thanks in anticipation. Victor Patterson, Ireland

  • Bridge CS3 shows no thumbnails??

Adobe Bridge CS3 has been working fine for quite a while. I have been having
some problems with my System (C) drive, where it and Photoshop CS3 are
    installed.
I swapped out the C drive, and restored an image of the drive, and most
items are working OK. But I'm guessing that Bridge may have suffered some
"corruption", prior to when the image was made.
When I open Bridge CS3, it opens normally. with the files listed on the
lower left, but there are no thumbnails visilbe for any images. Momentarily,
I did see some for one folder, but now they are all not showing anyting at
all in the thumbnail or individual window on screen.
Just for kicks, I double clicked in the middle of where the thumbnails
should be, and an image then opened in Photoshop. So they appear to be
    invisible, but present.
Any suggestions here? Is repair install needed, or is there a setting
somewhere that has gotten messed up, that can be simply fixed??
    Ron Hisch

Hi John,<br /><br />I just took a look at my settings now in Bridge CS3. That box is not <br />currently checked, and the Bridge Cache files are no longer in the <br />associated folders. Apparently this was not the case prior to my problems.<br /><br />I don't remember ever making a choice here.<br /><br />The centralized cache obviously makes it easier to purge when problems come <br />up. Are there any negative aspects of using the centralized cache?<br /><br />What I cannot understand is how essentially all the cache information in a <br />hundred folders in my image tree on my D drive suddenly all became corrupted <br />at the same time. There must have been something else on the C drive that <br />caused this.<br /><br />In recent days, I was in the process of replacing my C drive due to strange <br />happenings, and restoring an image of that drive to the new drive. I would <br />have to beleive that on C drive in a Brdige folder somewhere, there was a <br />"master" controlling file or ?? that worked with the cache, and it got <br />messed up.<br /><br />Ron<br /><br /><br /><br />"John Joslin" <[email protected]> wrote in message <br />news:[email protected]..<br />If the option to "Automatically Export Caches To Folders When Possible" is <br />checked in Bridge Preferences (as Ron apparently did) I can't imagine that <br />the purge can be done system wide with one click.<br /><br />I have always used a centralised cache, for this and other reasons.

  • Raw thumbnails will not display in Bridge CS3

I am using Bridge CS3 and Photoshop Elements 7 (the OS is Vista).  I can open raw files OK via Bridge, and PSE will launch correctly as well, but the thumbnails in Bridge are only the file icons for the raw files, never images.  .jpg files are fine.  I have loaded the latest converter, but the problem in Bridge continues.  Any suggestions?

I  am using CS4 and had the same problem in Windows 7. I ran a check for  update, ran the update, opened Bridge and still got icons...then I  refreshed and all is working fine now, I can see my CR.2 files.
    Hope this solves your issue.

  • Bridge CS3 not displaying .PNG thumbnails

This behavior started about 2 months ago and I cannot figure what changed or what to do to get rid of the generic .PNG icons and get back to the image thumbnails. It's not isolated to Photoshop generated .PNG's. Any app I have that can save in the .PNG format will appear as a generic icon in Bridge CS3.
.PNG's that were uploaded to our server prior to around mid-Feruary all have the proper thumbnails. Currently, replacing them or uploading the same file from before February produces the generic icon. Same thing in both in the main view and the Preview window.
The only thing that has changed on my machine between now and February was an OS bump from  10.6.1 to 10.6.3.
Every other format displays correct thumbnails. I've tried just about every suggestion dealing with missing thumbnails from the various "no thumbnail" posts in this forum...and still no luck. Does anyone have a suggestion or two...or three, that might help me clear this .PNG problem up? It's driving me bats trying to identify images.

I've tried just about every suggestion dealing with missing thumbnails from
the various "no thumbnail" posts in this forum...and still no luck.
Could you specify on that, meaning also purge cache for selection. Using
tool menu-cache, use the filter menu to select only PNG files for faster
    approach.
And you may not like this but using a more then 3 year old app on a new
(intel based and 64 bit OS system) might also not be the best route. CS5 is
just out now and rebuild for 64 bit systems like Snow Leopard is.
Also keep in mind CS6 will be your last option to upgrade according to the
Adobe upgrade policy, after this you will need a new full license.

  • Bridge CS3 won't display thumbnails and locks up

Running a Mac G5 Dual 2gHz processors with OS 10.4.11 and 4GB ram...
I started today working with images on an internal drive and all was well until I selected an older external drive. Bridge vers. 2.0.0.975 would not display thumbnails on the older drives and stopped functioning altogether when selecting a different folder or any menu item.
Reinstalled Photoshop and Bridge and folders/thumbs from internal drive still displayed just fine, but still would not display on external drives. Ever since I tried holding down the option key when restarting Bridge, the the problem has spread to the internal drive and now those images will not display.
And yes, I did try upgrading to Bridge 2.1.1.9, but that update never worked at all for me.
I gotta vent here. Bridge CS3 has been a consistent headache from the first day of purchase. Since Bridge CS3 has never worked properly, how can I justify the purchase of Photoshop CS4 upgrade?

    Hey Jim
Good it worked, seem to remember that there have been problems with some users and the auto update feature from Adobe?
Whenever I used Bridge CS3 for a week or 6 to 8 (I also work with it a lot and and also large amount of files) trouble was coming up and I just delete the plist and cache file and restarted with option to refresh prefs. I don't use the cache for archive purpose and usual work with one main folder. After finished I move the files to specific folders without caching those so after deleting cache I only need to recache a few folders and was able to work flawlessly for a certain period.
I must say that Bridge CS4 is more stable and is working also very nice and again better compared to the prior version.
For system maintenance I use Disk Warrior every now and then but Cocktail on a daily basis, scheduled automatically after an also time scheduled auto start up of system and some apps. Cocktail is cheap and easy, :-)

  • Bridge CS3 no longer renders RAW thumbnails

Running PSE9 on OS 10.8.2 Mountain Lion.  Also running Bridge CS3 2.1.1.9 that I believe came bundled with PSE4 and which I have become fond of using as a tool for importing photos and other steps early in my workflow.  I shoot almost exclusively in RAW and sometimes in RAW/JPEG.  Recently, having made no change that I can remember, Bridge is no longer able to render thumbnails of the RAW files, instead showing just a thumbnail of a white sheet with the corner turned down; JPEG thumbnails render just fine.
I would be extremely grateful for anyone that can help me get the RAW thumbnails working again.  I suspect some anciliary file outside of the main program package since Adobe is so fond of sprinking useful files all over the place if that rings any bells.
I have tried to find a standalone Bridge CS3 installer on the web that I might use to re-write whatever is missing but I cannot find it.  It's an unusual request but if anyone would lend theirs to me I would also be grateful.
    Thank you in advance.

Turns out my sister is more a packrat than me and she still had her original PSE6 disk, which was also bundled with Bridge CS3.  Uninstalled/deleted 9 and Bridge and removed every trace of them and prior versions I could find (e.g Library files) to a flash drive.  Installed 6 along with Bridge and all seems to be back to normal.
Hopefully everything else still works right and I won't have to try-and-err putting Library files back one-by-one or something.  Once it feels like all is stable I'll be putting in my upgrades to PSE9.
    Thanks for your suggestions.

  • Bridge CS3 Stopped showing NEF thumbnails

I use a Nikon, formerly a D70, now a D90. I always shoot in raw and JPEG. I have had Bridge CS3 on my iMac for about a year and a half with no problem. About a week ago it stopped displaying NEF thumbnails. I just see the NEF icon. I can open the NEF images, and JPEG images show as thumbnails. To my knowledge I have not changed anything, although my son sometimes changes some settings. I have my computer set to automatically download updates. Reviewing the threads in this forum I see some similar problems, but not this one. Anybody have an idea?

I have ACR 4.6.030. I do not see a 4.7 on the ACR updates. The next appears to be 5.1, which is for CS4, no CS3. I appreciate your input. If you have any other ideas I would be interested. I still have not been able to get it to work. Very odd, since I had always been able to see NEF thumbnails, taken both by the D70 and D90.

  • Bridge CS3.No Thumbnails

My friend is using PS CS3 and Bridge CS3.his raw files in Bridge are CR2 Files from a Canon 350D and a Canon 450D.In bridge his images come in has icons with CR2 under them,so he can't see what the photos are,how does he get them to show has thumbnails so he can see his photos. He has Camera Raw 4.6.0.30.ThankYou.Longlegs

It should work.  Have him go to tools/cache/purge cache for folder.  Purge the cache and let it rebuild as see if that solves problem.

  • Bridge CS3 Thumbnail filenames different from actual filenames

    This is really weird query.
When I drag a selection of files into Bridge a small number of the filenames randomly appear with different and very abbreviated names (1or 2 characters) in the horizontal filmstrip i.e. 1.jpg, 2.jpg, A.jpg, AB.jpg.
Sometimes the changed filename seems to reflect the original file i.e. Bloggs_Joe_1234.jpg appears as BJ.jpg. The metadata of the files remain unaltered.
When I drag the abbreviated filename unto my desktop and rename it, it opens in the normal way displaying the full filename when I doubleclick it.
It opens in PS Elements displaying the correct name. The obvious difference is that I am by-passing Bridge.
The files concerned have been shot on a variety of cameras and processed originally on a variety of PC & MAC versions of Photoshop. I am presently using Elements 6 for the Mac. I am using OSX Version 10.5.6.
Thanks, in anticipation, for any suggestions as to where the problem lies.
    Victor

Thank you for your unbelievably fast response. I am using Bridge CS3 which was supplied with Elements 6 for the Macintosh. I will also try the Photoshop Elements forum.

  • Can't Directly Rate my Images using Stars in Adobe Bridge CS3

    Hi
I can rate my images in Adobe Bridge CS3 by using the drop down 'Label' menu. However, I cannot rate my image by stars directly under my image thumbnails as my book suggests I can. The book states: "You can also assign stars directly under the thumbnail by clicking on the dots".
Is there anyway I can do this? Do I have to change some preferences?
Many thanks in advance for anticipated help.

try resetting your preferences by holding Ctrl right after you launch Bridge(you have to be fast, you'll get a dialog box if you succeeded)
Though you'd need to do this only if you are doing it correctly in the first place. With a picture selected you'll notice 5 small dots beneath its thumbnail which you can click on to rate things. If you don't see the dots then increase the thumbnail size by adjusting the slider at the bottom of the screen
