No Thumbnails in List View

When I click the list view button or use the keyboard shortcut for list view it switches views but no thumbnails or metadata show up. The window is empty although it gives the number of images displayed at the bottom. The browser view and viewer work just fine. I have already tried the permissions repair, verified my disk, deleted permissions, and finally re-installed Aperture and update to 2.0.1 all with no effect.
Aperture does work just fine on my Mac Pro however. Any suggestions?

Yes, I tried all of that. I had to delete everything but my Aperture libraries and re-install to get it to work. I think it was something wrong with something in the Application Support folder for Aperture. Whatever it was it works now. The first time I re-installed I left the Application Support folder for Aperture alone it still had the problem. There are some .plist files there and undoubtedly something was amiss.

  • Thumbnail vs list view resetting

Every time I round trip from Premiere to Speedgrade my bins change views. If I'm in list view when I get back to Premiere it resets to thumbnail. If I start in thumbnails it shows up in list view after Speedgrade. Am I just lucky or does anyone else have this feature?

I guess what I am trying to say is that I want this to be a preference that
    stays with the bin.
What I want is for the bin view to be a in a constant state unless I
    specifically change it.
So if I put it in frame view with in a certain order I want it to stay that
way until I change it. If I turn thumbnails on, I want it to stay on until
I turn them off. If I set a size I want them to stay that size until I
    change it.
It seems like every time I change bins or open a new bin I have to set it
up the way I want it.

  • Larger thumbnail view in list view

Will it one day soon be possible when in list view in the bin, with thumbnails on, to have a larger thumbnail view.  I have a high rez Dell 30" monitor and even if I reduce the resolution to 1920 X 1080 the thumnails are minute.

    Hi YKFILMS,
You can make the thumbnails a little bigger with the slider at the bottom of the Project panel.

  • How to switch music from thumbnail view to list view

In the music app in the main library, how do you switch the music from thumbnail view with the album art and name arranged in a grid, into a traditional list view, if at all possible?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

... I did inadvertently find a way to view by list, although a bit unconventional. When I went into Playlists, I found I could tap on "All Songs." This had all my music in listed, alphabetical order. Hey, it works so I'm okay with this "fix." Poring thru album artwork makes me crazy! TNX Rat ! :--D

  • Thumbnails in Column & List views

My Finder (v10.4.5) mostly does NOT show the thumbnails of my JPGs in Column & List views, unless those JPGs were created on my computer (Tiger 10.4.6).
I got it to finally show the thumbnails in Icon view (View > Show View Options > Show Icon Preview + All windows), but I also want to see the little thumbnails in Column and List Views. Anyone know how to do this.
NOTE: those same JPGs that don't get the thumbnails on my MAC, do show thumbnails on my crappy-*** Windows ME Dell's Explorer.
By the way, (different Question) is there a way I can set up to be notified via email when somebody replies to my question here in this discussion area?
    Thanks,

With a Finder window open in Column view, when you go to the View menu item and select Show View Options there are not any "Show Icons" or "Show preview column" selections for me to check.
That is very very strange. Try opening a Finder window, have it in icon view, and the bring up Show View Options, I presume you are getting the options? Now go to View (don't close the options window!) and change to List. A different set of options should appear in the options window, and if you then change the view to Column what happens to the options window?
If you want to see thumbnails for files that don't have them you either use Column view with a preview column set to display icons, or put the folder in Icon view. The Mac OS Finder does not create thumbnail.db files, as does Windows (I believe many Linux window managers create analogous files). Instead the Finder either reads the thumb from the resource fork of the file (most--maybe all--Mac graphics programs have always had the ability to create custom icons that are a part of the file), or else it will create a thumb "on the fly" for files that don't have them if told to do so in Icon and Column views. In List view it will display a small icon if the file has one, otherwise it just uses the generic icon. Windows is incapable of reading Mac resource forks, where the custom icon is for files created on a Mac, and the Finder is incapable of reading Windows thumbnail.db files. Any file you create on your Mac with a Mac graphics program will have a custom icon, if you set the preference of the program to save the file that way. This includes Image Capture, if you use it to transfer files from your camera. Images you get from a Windows or Linux box, or download from the Internet, do not have a resource fork and so do not have a custom icon.

    Yes. So far so good.
I have to assume by Toms Posting that by camera he means connecting to a camera, and SD cards being read from a card reader don't count.
Hmm. Yes on the camera part, but don't think he was excluding card readers.
Selections should work with card readers, or camera archives, and – in some cases – a copy of the card.

  • List view Thumbnails

Is there a way to change the size of the thumbnails when shown in a column in the list view?

  • List View in Lightroom Mobile

I have hundreds of collections in Lightroom Mobile.  Scrolling through them with only three at time visible on my iPad takes forever.  A list view and/or small thumbnail view would greatly help navigation.

You might want to post your request to Recently active topics in Photoshop Family about Photoshop Lightroom This alternative forum is watched closer by Adobe folk than here

  • List View in library mode

Please add a list view option, to display thumbnail and text information(metadata) on the right... this is a more readable way when we are looking for metadata on all the images at the same time (like aperture Does)

I have made this request since Lightoom 1, but adobe doesn't see the need for it. I think it is a very useful feature. The digital asset manager application have it. And Lightroom claims to help manage assets!

  • List view of PDF Table of Contents missing

In iBooks, PDF files can have two types of Table of Contents, thumbnail view and list view. My problem is some of my PDF files lack the list view of the table of contents.
I'm under the impression that the list view TOC in iBooks is created from the bookmarks that exist in the PDF file before importing into iBooks. I've been successful in adding new subheadings in the TOC by modifying the bookmarks in the PDF file before installing to iBooks, so I'll be surprised if that's not the case.
I have two files that have bookmarks in the original PDF file, but when I import into iBooks, there is no option for a list view of the TOC, only the thumbnail view. Can anyone offer any help as to why a PDF file with bookmarks won't show a list view TOC when imported into iBooks?
While we're at it, when you tap on the TOC button in a PDF file in iBooks, it always takes me to the thumbnails view. I would prefer it default to the list view. Is there any way to do that?
    Thanks.

There may be more user-friendly ways of doing this, but here's one way:
Open Terminal (in the Utilities folder).
Use "cd" to change directory to the folder you want to print
    eg cd /Users/myuser/Documents
Use "ls" to list the contents to a file
    ls -al > filelist.txt
You can then open the filelist.txt file from Finder in TextEdit and print it.

  • Why can't I see the list view in the file browser

In the file browser for FCP X, I can see the files in the thumbnail view but when I choose "list view", I see nothing.

Check three things: the filter popup in the upper left, the search box in the upper right, make sure there's nothing in it, and the action popup (the gear in the lower left) make sure there is no weird setting that's removing everything.
You can also trash your preferences to reset them.

  • List view not showing all podcasts

Guys, I have the annoying problem that podcast management by itunes and the podcast app are F'ed up.
Not too lobg ago I experienced my ipad greying out most podcasts that were downloaded and on my ipad, for no reason at all. it took me 2 days fiddling with settings and ended up having to set every sync to "on" and set donwloading to "all" and "keep all podcasts"
Now I'm experiencing the problem that the "list" view in podcast app, is not showing all podcasts, but the "thumbnail" view is (as far as I can tell...). Why is this and how can I fix it to make sure both views show everything?
    I'm running iOS 7.0.6 and iTunes 11.1.5

    Hey there sporry,
It sounds like your Podcasts app is not showing your library correctly in the List view but Thumbnail looks ok. I recommend the troubleshooting in the article named:
iOS: An app you installed unexpectedly quits, stops responding, or won’t open
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1702
    Restart the app
Close the app and open it again.
    Restart your device
Turn the device off and on.
Update your device software and your apps
Update your device to the latest version of iOS.
    Update your apps:
Open the App Store and tap Updates.
If updates are available, tap Update All.
If asked, enter your Apple ID password. The updates will download and install.
You might need a Wi-Fi connection to update some apps.
Install another app from the App Store
If your installed app won't open, download and install a free app that isn't on your iOS device. This should reset your Apple ID authorization.
Remember to use the same Apple ID that you used to download the app that you're having issues with.
    Reinstall the app
Remove the app from your device and reinstall it. Remember that deleting an app also deletes its data.
    Delete the app.
    Press the Home button.
Go to the App Store and download the app again.
Wait for the app to download, then open it from the Home screen.
If the download stops, you can resume it.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,

  • Flex Mobile List view only displaying correctly in debug build

I've got a horizontal list view that I've created in my app. There is a button that changes it's layout and items between a small thumbnail grid layoutand a larger thumbnail single row layout.
In my debug build, this works just fine every single time. However, once I create a release build and install it, the listview doesn't have anything in it initially. If I press my layout change button, the large images show up, but they are shown vertically instead of horizontally.
And if I hit the button again, I see the smaller images, except that they are in white boxes the size of the larger images.
    Here's some screenshots:
    Here's my layout creation code:
    // setup the scroll view

                    gridView.requestedRowCount=2;
                    gridView.verticalAlign="middle";

And in case it's relevant, here's my embedded image code:

  • List view shows duplicate (or blank) places in the same list

When I look at the Places List view, and select "Hawaii" in column two, column three gives me the following list:
    [blank]
    [blank]
    Kauai
    Kauai
    Maui
    Oahu
One of those [blank] ones contains kauai places in column 4. The other one contains big island places in island 4. So, Kauai places are listed in 3 separate sections. One of these Kauai sections clearly lists the places that I have named manually. The [blank] kauai one lists 4 different auto-named towns in kauai, containing mostly photos from my iphone. And the third one lists auto-named places. Some of the same place names are listed in more than one of these sections. This duplication of names also occurs in column 4 as well, where the names of the places were autonamed by iphoto.
This duplication in column 3 and 4 is incredibly annoying. I'm aware that I could retag all of my photos so that all of them fall under a manually named place, but that sorta defeats the whole purpose of the gps tags, and it results in all the locations in one event becoming homogenized.
    How can I fix this?

Do you have a backup copy of your iPhoto Library made just prior to upgrading to 10.10.3 and Photos?  If so  do the following:
    1 - restore it
2 - launch iPhoto with the Option key held down
3 - select the library and close iPhoto
4 - relaunch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and apply the following two first aid processed to the library:
    Option #1, Repair Library Permissions
    Option #2, Rebuild Thumbnails
    Option #4, Rebuild Library Database
5 - launch Photos with the Option key held down , select, open and convert the rebuild iPhoto library
6 - check to see if the blank thumbnails issue is resolved

  • Application icon in List View - anyone to view as app and not preview?

    Hello
I've noticed something new in Leopard that is bugging me.
The small icons when you do a List View shows a preview of the document - not a small logo of the application it uses. So for instance, if I have a list view of a folder with a mix of Pages, Numbers, Word, TextEdit, etc. - I can't do a quick scan and find just the files associated with a certain program - say Word.
Is there any way to change these back to the old Tiger layout?
    Thanks

I tried the rollover trick, and it apparently only works when you rollover the attachments at the bottom on the email. It would be nice if that worked at the top of the email when I click the little black attachment triangle. Scrolling to the bottom of the email to hover over links isn't convenient.
Also, the hover-over filename isn't quickly digestible because it gives you additional superfluous information such as downloaded status, mime type and "Control click for menu". See screenshot:
    http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/102172/additional-info.png
The QuickLook option isn't what I want because I need to find things by filename, often from a large batch of attachments which I have never seen before, so seeing them as thumbnails doesn't really help.
So, from those suggestions I guess the unfortunate answer is Mail.app doesn't have a simple filename view and I have to use something else.
...Off to the OSX Feedback page to make a suggestion...
