No thumbnails in text

I want to apply effects, like bevel, to text. No thumbnails appear in the panel graphics, by type, text. How do I get them to appear?

Elements 11. Windows 7. Shapes and text don't show up. Backgrounds, Frames, and Graphics show up fine. When I run Elements 8, everything shows up. I wonder if there is a corrupted file?

Converting FM to PDF results in thumbnail-sized text area in the PDF

I'm having an issue with converting FM files to PDF. I'm using all the same settings I had been using previously, but now my PDFs appear with the text and images smooshed together in a thumbnail version of the source page. The PDF page size is 8.5 x 11, which is the size of my source FM file. So the thumbnail appears in the middle of a regular sized page in the PDF. (I'm sorry this is difficult to explain what's happening, which is probably why I can't find anything after searching the forums).
Does anyone know what is going on? I've got an aggressive deadline and troubleshooting this issue is getting me no where.

To help out in trouble shooting, could you supply details on your FM and Acrobat versions, and your OS?
Also if you're using the full version of Acrobat, or the limited version that ships with FM.
And at a really basic level, is your system default printer set to the Acrobat printer.
And in FM, on the Print dialog box, is there any chance that you have the Thumbnail option activated?

Hi. Im new in Muse and im trying to learn. My next challenge is to make thumbnails with text under like this:
And when visitors click a thumbnail it should pop up the original size picture in a lightbox. A mouseover big pic
should also work.

I also had to put the text under thumbnail manually... but thats ok. To bad i cant group it with the thumbnail.

after I remove thumbnail cache, it's still blank.
thumbnails for other files works fine.

create files : gnome-fs-regular.png, text-x-preview.png, gtk-file.png
in icon theme's mimetye folder.(you will see folder like 48x48, scalable. )
the content of these file almost the same:

the four numbers are left-top and right-bottom of the Rectangle, so they may be different for different size of the Rectangle.
after you do that you will see preview for text file
but however i adjust these four numbers, the preview i get is outside of the icon. and i don't know why.

Slideshow with text instead of thumbnails

Hello all,
Is it possible to create a slideshow that instead of thumbnails has text? So the images names are placed on the side of the slideshow window and the user can change the image by clicking on their name.

The good news is when you use the Composition > Featured News widget (aka trigger/target) it has a nice "repeat" function. If you delete all trigger/targets except the first one (I think we give you three by default), style the trigger (add the image name, set the font, color and such), then hit the + sign to add a second trigger/target Muse will apply whatever text and styling you've applied to the first to the duplicated second. That way all you really need to do is change the name from say Image 1 to Image 2.

How to do pop-up text box like this?

On 1-800-Flowers website home page if you hover over the thumbnails a text box pops up in the the bottom right corner, is there an action in GoLive that can do something like this? It's nice how they have everything in one cell and when doing a onmouseover it does the "shadowOver(event,this)".

List View in library mode

Please add a list view option, to display thumbnail and text information(metadata) on the right... this is a more readable way when we are looking for metadata on all the images at the same time (like aperture Does)

I have made this request since Lightoom 1, but adobe doesn't see the need for it. I think it is a very useful feature. The digital asset manager application have it. And Lightroom claims to help manage assets!

Other web browsers and security issues?

Since even an Apple KB article recognizes the need for an additional browser and because of Safari's limitations and problems, I'm going to try switching to another browser (most likely OmniWeb and am looking at Firefox, Shira and Opera also though perhaps not as a primary browser) but I'm wondering about their ability to keep on top of any security issues for Mac? (and how do you keep up with security updates?)
Though perhaps unfounded, at least with Safari, I feel that Apple has a vested interest in keeping on top of security issues (for Safari and Java) and I can readily find out about security updates via software updater.

Most of the other Mac browsers have their adherents. They are all good browsers (I have 7 browsers installed to test various web sites and for change-of-pace usage). They all have their strengths and they all have their weaknesses. Only iCab and OmniWeb are still shareware, the rest are now or always have been free (Opera just recently stopped charging for its browser).
I have settled on Firefox as my alternate browser and I use it maybe just a tad more than Safari, but I do switch back and forth between them. The Mozilla foundation is good at getting security updates out when needed. Firefox has a button on the toolbar to check for updates. One nice thing about Firefox is that you can install free extensions which enhance the features available. I have one to supplement tab features, one to control iTunes from Firefox's status bar, one to help me format messages in discussion forums, and one to block ads.
I prefer OmniWeb for doing intensive research because of the way it handles tabs in its sidebar, showing me which ones I've looked at and which ones I haven't, and giving me great flexibility in rearranging tabs, which are viewable as thumbnails or text names (I have had up to a hundred or so tabs open in OmniWeb.
Shiira is good and its fast. I have not checked for updates for a while, but the last time I updated there was still a problem with Shiira kicking you out of logged-in sites when you moved from page to page with in web site. This may have been fixed by now - they were aware of the problem back then.
Camino is a native OS X cousin of Firefox and is also fast, but is not updated as often.
I would stay away from Mozilla or Netscape unless you need all the additional modules they have and which take up hard disk space. Firefox and Camino represent the browser module of Mozilla/Netscape. Mozilla and Netscape have modules for email, irc chat, newsgroups, and for creating and editing web pages. Netscape is a branded and slightly customized version of Mozilla and is not updated as often.
Opera is a nice browser and some use it as their main browser, but I have not seen anything that really stands out for me, but that does not mean it is not worth a look.
I would stay away from abandonware Internet Explorer.
As for checking for updates, several of them, as with many Mac programs, now have a menu item that allows you to check for updates. Most of them also announce their updates on both VersionTracker and MacUpdate.

Dynamic Photo Gallery in Flash using AS3.0 and XML, but it doesn't work and missed up my app.

I am creating an iPad app using AS3. The app contains three sections.
One of those sections (chocolate sources)contains Dynamic Photo Gallery using XML. The photos, thumbnails, and text in this section are loaded from XML.
I faced may issue when I tried to run this app:
The gallery photos didn't show up
The thumbnails (buttons to navigate the photo gallery) didn't show up at all. (The thumbnails should show up under the photo gallery box.)
The text doesn't show up (the text should be in every photo as describtion)
I want to include Swipe in the photo gallery, how can I do that?
When I click on "Chocolate Sources" button, the photo gallery appears in every section, here are print screens describe what I mean:
The photo gallery covers the home screen too.

try:

instead of
txfe.text = xmlFile.image.[int(m.currentTarget.details) -1];
and add your thumbs to gal, not the stage. when you're done with the gallery, remove gal.

Menu correct in firefox and not ie

I fixed the problem with the thumbnails had to put a break
before the text.

The "Recently Used" entry in the file open/save dialog

The file selection dialog (eg: save/open/etc) on gtk applications has a "Recently Used" option:
Over size imaged reduced to link
This has generally not shown any options for me (for some reason, firefox suddenly showed a single entry this time).
I find no use for it either, so rather than having it list recent entries I'd like this option gone (or at least stop being the default!), and the last-used (or maybe just my home) being shown by default.
Any hints on how to disable this? What about the "Search" option just above it (equally non-working, and equally undesired by myself).
Moderator edit: Converted over sized thumbnail to text. (Hint: Your img embedded in a url was perfect -- except the image should be a thumbnail, not the full sized image. Feel free to edit this post and remove my redaction if you want to use img tags with a small thumbnail)

No, I'm not using gnome. And this was actually the first time I saw this dialog non-empty. However, it's not related to gtk2 or gtk3: I see the same behaviour on gtk3 apps.
I all honesty though, I don't care about recently used being populated because I anticipate having the same results you've just described.

Thanks, I'm aware of this, but this merely covers the firefox download option (firefox seems to actually remember the last used), not all gtk apps in general.

JavaScript swapPhoto help

I'm trying to modify some JavaScript. Right now, you click on
a thumbnail of an image and a larger version of the image appears
in a larger box to the right.
I would like to change the thumbnail to text, so clicking on
the text will change the image in the box.
The html looks like this:

IWeb and full resolution pictures for download

I finally got a good camera and wanted to share those glorious 12MP (3-4MByte) pictures via iWeb. I'd not paid much attention before now, but iWeb is fond of "optimizing" and reducing the size of pictures in order to save space and improve upload and download times. Even if you uncheck "optimize" in preferences, and select "download full resolution" in the photo inspector, I've found that some times you get the full multi-megabyte picture, then for reasons unknown to me, most other pictures have been reduced from 1/4 to 1/10 the original file size and the resolution has been reduced, say form 3000x4000 pixel to 768x1024 (seems arbitrary ...).
How to deal with this. Nothing direct that I can find: uncheck optimize works for a bit, them reverts; full size download refers to the size after such "optimizing." I think it's a bug, but maybe others think it's a feature.
My indirect work around: use your public folder on idisk in me.com. Create a folder structure to mirror your iWeb picture album structure to simplify life for your guest. Password protect it if you want some privacy.
Then go ahead and let iWeb optimize, and select the download size you want (maybe "medium" is fine for some users, for example).
But include on each picture or album page a hyperlink to your me.com public folder: the link will look something like https://public.me.com/<your me.com name here>. If you've specified a password, it will be requested when someone uses the link. I don't think there is any finer grain hyperlink available to your public folder - for example, to the sub folders you create to mirror your album structure.
The public idisk options are in preferences in idisk on iWeb.
If you only want to share a few pictures, it may be easier for the user to share individual file with a similar hyper link set up for each one using link outside the picture container object (can't be inside), or for each picture on the detail page (the comment, such as the image name, can be made a clickable element (hyper link). If you have tens or more pictures to share at once, this method is pretty inconvenient.
The sharing options for individual files are available when you select file via idisk in me.com
So, there it is. Hope this suggestion helps someone.

PS: Yes, I've offered feedback to Apple about this lack of flexibility in iWeb.

If you only want to share a few of the larger files zip them and put them in a folder titled Pictures in your iDisk/Web/Sites folder. Then create a thumbnail or text hyperlink to them at http://web.me.com/MMeAccount_Name/Pictures/FileName. That way they will immediately download when the link is selected.
A viewable version of the photo can be placed on the page and linked to the larger zipped version on your iDisk.

Neither the menu or lightbox widgets are working correctly

I'm using the menu widget and lightbox widget in my website and neither are working correctly:
The menus work but the dropdown feature does not work when I test it in either Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome. This is not vital in my case but I would like to have it working
The lightbox part of the lightbox widget does not display at all but the thumbnails and text items are there but inactive
How do I solve this? It looks bad without the latter in particular. I've tested the lightbox I used on multiple pages. I don't want to re-insert it as I've already added the captions and images.

Firefox 11 do not display properly some websites

Hello. I wold like to ask your help in setting the Firefox 11 browser for a correct dispay of my website. This is how the site looks in Firefox 11: http://transport-in-comun.ro/firefox/site-Firefox.jpg and this is how it looks in IE8: http://transport-in-comun.ro/firefox/site-IE.jpg .
About the site: the page is written in FrontPage (I do not have many knowledge of web-design), and the photo thumbnail and text near it is put into a 796px wide tabel. For some reason, Firefox 11 "narrows" the table.
I didn't have this kind of problems when I was using Firefox 3.6, even if I was using it under Windows 7, that had the ClearType turned on by default. After the upgrade to Firefox 11, I start having problems in the viewing the above mentioned website and other sites with similar structure. I tried to adjust the ClearType settings, but it didn't help. With ClearType disabled, the text in the site is displayed how it should be, but it's fade.

Thank you all for your fast asnwers. The "Use hardware acceleration when available" was the problem, I disabled it and I will post a message on my site about this.
The site is on-line in the same aspect since 2005, modifiyng the whole site to fit with Firefox11's default setting is not a good option. At that moment, placing a tabel (alligned to the center of the page) and puting in it the thumbnails with links generated by ExpressThumbnailCreator, than manually adding the description in the HTML view of FrontPage was the simplyest way possible to make the site appear properly on my 800*600 px resolution I used then. Of course, I upgraded my hardware and software since then, but the site remained mostly unchanged (except the index and a few files). I know it's time for a new version of the site but... my web-design knowledges are limited to basic HTML.
