No THX/DTS output on my speak

I have an Audigy 2 ZS with Creative 7. analog speakers. The card and speakers seems to work fine and I got throught the THX setup without a problem. But when I try to play a movie (or anything else) in THX, DTS or CMSS mode, nothing comes out. Any suggestions on fixing this?

THX is not a format, but a certication program (so you know it meets a particular performance standard). CMSS is an option on our cards that you can use to get multi-speaker sound from sources that would otherwise be stereo, but not an option on DVDs you purchase. Movies would normally be in DTS or Dolby Digital 5. for instance.
If your movies have Dolby Digital (5.) or DTS tracks, make sure you select that track, and set your DVD software's audio option to "SPDIF output", to ensure it leaves the signal to the card instead of decoding it.
Seeing as you have analog speakers, the only other thing you would need to do is to make sure the speaker set up (in the card's software) is set up correctly.

  • Tactic 3D Wrath will not output on one speaker

    Hi,
I have owned a pair of Sound Blaster Tactic 3D Wrath headphones for about a year now, when very recently I have noticed that they are no longer outputting on one speaker. This is not only an inconvenience, but it ruins the virtual surround sound, which ruins the point of having high end headphones such as these. I only want to RMA them as a last resort, so I wish to know if there is any way to fix the headphones before I decide to RMA them.
    Thanks,

    Hi newm,
Just to clarify, when you say that they are "no longer outputting on one speaker",
do you mean that either the left or right ear cup is not working any longer?
If so, have you tried your headset with another audio source (EG: MP3 Player, Smart Device)?
    Cheers!

  • Third party software instrument not outputting to right speaker?

Hi there. I know that third party support is not something I can expect to get much of here, but I figured I'd see if anyone had any suggestions anyway. I'm new to GarageBand, and am using the '8 bit' plugin from a Japanese band called YMCK (http://www.ymck.net/english/download/index.html). The plugin does seem a little buggy or incompatible with my system/GarageBand because I often get no sound and have to restart GarageBand, or (and I warn you if you try it) occasionally I'll get a loud, annoying tone until I restart the app as well.
Normally, however, it does what it's supposed to except for the fact that I am not getting any audio output from the right speaker for software instruments using this plugin, regardless of the panning I'm using. This is just kind of strange and I'm wondering if maybe there's something I'm missing, or perhaps someone else has used this plugin before (or would be willing to try it). Thanks in advance for any feedback.

    No love for the newbie?

  • 5.1 Surround Sound only outputting from one speaker on macbook

I have connected my old LG LH T360SE home cinema system to my white 13" macbook (late 2007) from the headphone jack via an audio Y cable into the RCA audio input on the back of the home cinema system. Unfortunately when playing movies via Plex, VLC or any other media player the sound only outputs through the front left speaker and sub-woofer. I checked that the other speakers are connected by perfoming a connection test in the product's setup and there is some background noise if you put your ear up against them. The 5 speakers work fine when playing a DVD on the integrated DVD player. Is there any settings on the macbook I need to change to make use of the full 5.1 surround sound?
    Thanks

You'll need to use an optical cable to get 5.1 surround. So you'll also need a little optical->mini-optical converter (which allows you to plug it into the 3.5mm jack).

  • Terrible static on output of USB speaker system

    Hi,
I have a Sony USB speaker system, it's basically a 5.1 receiver / speaker system which takes input from digital optical, analogue and USB. The USB part when plugged in to a computer presents itself as a soundcard, so when plugged in to my new Leopard Mac Book it appears in the 'Sound' preference pane as an output type.
I get terrible static over all output, I've tried all the usual stuff and nothing is working, I didn't get this problem under 10.4 (however, I was also using a MacBook pro not this Mac Book), I don't get the problem on this machine when I use the digital-optical out rather than the USB.
Anyone know if this is the same issue as associated with Core Audio and some USB mixers?
    Anyone got any other suggestions?
    Thanks
    Adnrew

I also started having problems after last security update when playing Itunes over USB Harman Kardon Speaker system. Static, popping sounds, bending music tracks are the main issues. The distorted sounds have no effect if the internal speakers are used. Apple, please help!

  • Garageband output on BT speaker? Too much latency, but iTunes plays fine

    Hi all
I have a Creative D200 that I like to use to play iTunes music in my office.
Today I tought that I would like to play my electric guitar, since I am basically alone and can make as much noise I want (yay).
I am surprised to see thou, that iTunes play music without changing anything, while GarageBand does not .
I have a USB unit that is my interface for Midi, Guitar and other instruments (an Alesis IO2), I use it to record my guitar, or to just play games like Rocksmith, or record riff with Guitar rig. The unit works fine, no latency when I use the headphones connected to the unit.
Anyway; back to GB: I tried to play the guitar, and I can hear the iTunes music playing on the speaker, and the guitar play in my headphones connected to the IO2. I tried to change the output to D200 (the BT speaker), and I get the output, but the lag is so much that is impossible to play honestly.
Tired to look for a function to reduce the latency but there is none on GB.
Now, I understand that BT has too much delay, altho I don't understand why the output of anything on my computer is going trough the speaker with no latency at all (games, iTunes, system sounds), but neither GarageBand nor Guitar Rig are able to play (Guitar rig does not even give me output at all, Garageband give me the high latency). I tought that should not matter where the sound comes from, since everything is wired to the computer; so when the audio has to be sent to the bluetooth speaker, shouldn't matter if is the output of GB, GR or anything else.
Possible that is possible to decode a MP3 on teh fly and play it with 0 latency, while is not possible to output the processed signal of a guitar, in the same way, on a mac pro with 16 GB of ram and 12 core?

    Hi Becca_hague,
    Thanks for the post.
You will need at least 2MB to effectively run BT Vision.  The real problem here is not your speed, its your connection constantly dropping out.  If we can figure out why your connection is dropping and fix this, then your speed should recover by itself.
Your noise margin is not very high at all which is strange, as one of the main culprits of a dropping connection is noise interference.  The fact you are already in the test socket rules out internal issues.  It may well be that the router you are using is faulty.  On the other hand this may not be the case.
I would like to run a few checks on the network side of things, to see if anything stands out as odd.  Please drop me an email to the email address in my profile. • Losing output from rear speak

    Hello,
I have a SB Audigy 2 DS sound card and a Dell 5. Surround Sound speaker systems. All the speaker tests work and normally all the speakers work.
My problem is that sometime I notice that the sound has stopped coming out of the rear speakers. I don't really no what causes it or what it is that I manage to do to get it restored.
When I notice it, I usually end up rebooting, monkeying around with the calibration settings, monkeying around in the Control Panel>Sounds and Audio Devices>Speaker setting, etc. Everything always looks normal and after monkeying around long enough the rear sound is usually restored.
I just noticed it and spent fi've minutes monkeying around getting it restored. This is becoming frustrating as everything work perfectly for over a year. There most be some sort of conflict but what and where is beyond me.
If any of you readers have ever experience anything like this and can offer assistance I will appreciate it. Thanks.

Here's a tip from something that I discovered. Not sure who/what resets the volumes, but for some reason Windows will set the volume for all channels OTHER THAN left/right to 0, effecti'vely muting them. The solution? Go to "Control Panel", "Sound and Audio Devices", click on "Speaker Voume..." in the bottom half, and make sure that all the sliders are at max or at least moving together. This was my problem when I lost center and rear speaker outputs despite all other testing showing no problem.

  • Less sound output from inbuilt speaker

seems to be less sound output is coming from inbuilt speakers. i don't know how to verify whether this is the maximum sound capacity of inbuilt speakers
    My Product Details:
Product Name: HP pavilion dv6 Notebook PC
    Product Number: QJ912AV#ABA
OS Installed: Windows 7 64 bit

How long have you been without sound?  When did you first notice it?  Do you remember if you installed any updates or programs just before it happened?  I guess we could consider taking off the case and start checking for lose connections or blown speakers. I do think you should maybe try to reinstall the HP sound drivers one more time and make sure no other sound software is installed in add/remove software from your control panel.

  • No output, no internal speaker macbook air

well, now the problem is that the volume button in the menu bar is greyed out! and this is wat is shown in the sound preferences: but i cant click on the mute button...
    any suggestions?

i would try an SMC reset, the following article tells how to do this:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
also after you do this reset and restart the mac. open the about this mac window and go into more info/system report and under the hardware section click on audio and see if the internal speakers show up in here, if they don't you need to take it in for repair.

  • Rear sound goes to front speaker with DDL/DTS Connect (Xfi Platinum)

DRear sound goes to front speaker with DDL/DTS Connect (Xfi Platinum)T Hey there,
I just installed the newest modded driver from [url="http://forums.creative.com/t5/Sound-Blaster/X-Fi-Auzen-2-20-0002-0-RC4-2-dated-5th-November-2009/td-p/540790">here[/url] and now I have the problem that when using DDL/DTS Connect (yes I have it activated!): the rear left channel gets output on my front left speaker, and the rear right goes to front right. My externaldecoder is correctly identifying the output stream as DD/DTS and the front speaker and subwoofer works fine. Also when using my Xbox 360 the sounds correctly get to the rear speakers, so this is likely not a problem of my decoder.
Anyone had a similar problem to this? Any idea why this happens?
    My system:
    Windows 7 x64
    Intel Core2Quad Q6600
    4 GB RAM
    nVidia Geforce 9800 GTX+

H I noticed this doesn't just happen with DDL/DTS Connect. The same behaviour happens when I connect my headphones to the plugs on the back of my computer. The rear plugs don't output anything, while the front plugs have "double" output.
I tried all kinds of different drivers, always removing the previous ones and restarting before trying a new one. Right now I'm with the official 2.8.003 X-Fi driver.
    Please, somebody help!

  • Speaker output AND headpho

im a deejay, i need to know if there is anyway to configure a creative sb Audigy2 ZS Platinum sound card (its a 3d card, it has the platinum dri've too) so that i can have my mixing application play the overall sound output through the speaker outputs, and use the headphones jack on the plat. dri've to preview another song within the same application? basically i want to use the speaker outputs and the headphones jack at the same time. right now, its either or. is it possible?

Depending on what DJ program you are using, you might be able to specify different output for the front and rear speakers, and hence have 2 different outputs. Unfortunately, I don't know which DJ programs (if any) provide that option. PCDJ-FX doesn't, I know that much.
You could do what I did! Are you using a laptop? If so, get an external (USB) soundcard, like the "Extigy", or "Li've! 024 External". Plug that into one of your spare USB ports and use that as your main output (for the superior sound quality), and use the built in soundcard headphone socket for cue-ing your songs. Otherwise, if your motherboard has an onboard soundcard, use that.
The important thing is to ensure Windows recognises that you have two outputs. Go to "Control Panel" -> "Sounds and Audio Devices" -> Audio.
The "Sound Playback" list needs to have at least two entries for most DJ programs to output two separate sources.

  • Digital output for SB Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Prob

I am trying to connect SB Audigy 2 ZS Platinum to my Amplifier (Sony DVP-NS92V) via the SPDIF coaxial digital connection (I have also tried the digital output at the rear panel), unfortunitely the output i got is only on the left and right front speakers. I am currently having a 7. channel surround system. I have clicked both the dital output only under speaker settings and advanced control for play control, and I have also?tried by using both DTS and THX media file, but still does not work. Can anybody help ?

With a digital connection (optical or coaxial SPDIF) that is normal. Check this sticky thread for more info:

  • Audigy WORKING with 5.1 AND software(EAX, THX console, bass redirection) Vista 32

This has taken me a week of fiddling, but now on Vista Ultimate 32bit I have most things up and running...
EAX effects and environments from the control panel work, THX console works, surround mixer, speaker settings work..Also I'm getting proper surround output =]
This isn't a complete fix; EAX console and the EQ don't work, and also it only lets me set 6bit@96khz in the control panel, 24bit isn't there =[
    I'm using an Audigy 4...
First, I installed creative official vista drivers. Then uninstalled the drivers but left audio console installed.
    Install Pax-Apps 2.32sp2 http://www.youp-pax.org/viewthread.php?tid=443&extra=page%3D
Reboot...now my audigy was not working here but all the creative apps were installed. THe youp-pax drivers caused a BSOD after the reboot but after another reboot it went into windows just without the sound working.
Run the Pax installer again, select remove drivers and remove them but leave the software, reboot.
Install the official Creative windows XP drivers. This is the hard step, I had some problems and had to reboot and uninstall-reinstall about 0 times before I finally got it working...but now it works.
Still, I want my 24bit and my EAX console =[

I have this (well kinda) problem also. Sometimes my system (see below) will work fine, but then suddenly the channels will swap or the sub just won't give any bass.
Have tried contacting both Creative and Microsoft support for some insight but nothing apart from the standard stuff so far. I guess its a vista/4Gb RAM issue. Looking forward to using WaveRt drivers in case they give a difference.
