No Time Capsule at Finder

     Hello,
I have after the update to Lion the following problem:
In Airport Utility I find my Time Capsule, but the Finder is gone. Consequently, I can no longer access it.
"Connect to Server" it does not work well, the old connection is indeed there, but can not connect
Pretty stupid number, because on it are my music and my photos and now neither iTunes nor iPhoto is the media library.
So far tried: reboot (iMac, TC, routers), factory reset, taken from the current ...
     Anyone an idea?
     regards

Same problem here
After Lion installation I hade many problems with time capsule.
First problem:
non internet connection - resolved with Time Capsule reboot.
Persistent problem:
unable to manually configure time capsule - it hangs
unable to access to disk from finder: it hangs on "connection..."
unable to backup: backup process fail
After rebooting TC I was able to access configuration and I reset the TC disk (BACKUP LOST)
But then i Still get the same problems...

    Hi!
You will need to get your Sync Key from your Android Device and then follow this simple steps:
    https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/How%20to%20sync%20Firefox%20settings%20between%20computers#w_what-if-im-not-near-my-first-computer
In order to get your Sync Key from your Android Device you will need this add-on:
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/mobile/addon/aboutsynckey/
This should work. Let me know if you need further help.

  • Connecting External Hard Drive to Time Capsule - In Finder but not Disk Utility

    Hi,
So I've got a bit of a problem.  I have connected my LaCie 2d Quadra External Hard Drive into my Time Capsule via USB for the simple purpose of making it wireless, as well as allowing both my husband and I to access the files on it.  It works flawlessly on my husband's MacBook Pro:  Shows up as an icon on the desktop as well as in Finder and Disk Utility.  However, on mine I can access it via the Time Capsule in Finder (as a shared file), but it does not show up in Disk Utility nor on the Desktop.  I tried installing the LaCie Desktop Manager, but, although it downloaded and installed fine, when I went to open it I received the error:  "No LaCie Desktop Manager Compliant Device Found".  I am assuming that is because it really is only even recognizing it at all in the Finder because it is a shared file, but not actually recognized as a Drive.  And that explains why it is not on the Desktop or Disk Utility.  Annoyingly, I can't drag the shared file onto my desktop either.  Well I can, as an alias, but it says original not found when I try to access it.
Obviously, I would like to access the LaCie drive on my desktop wirelessly as my husband does, the way it does when I plug it in directly.  If I connect it via USB directly into my MacBook, it works fine.  So really it is just a matter of getting it up and running wirelessly, which I know it can do because it is doing it on my husband's.   I am wondering if it is a Lion issue, as I am running Lion and my husband is running Snow Leopard?  But then again...it does work with my Lion if I plug it in directly...sigh...
    Here are our details:
    Me:  2008 MacBook, running Lion
Hubby:  2008 MacBook Pro, running Snow Leopard
Any help would be greatly appreciated...I'm bewildered!

On your Lion MacBook, click anywhere on the open desktop so that the Finder menus are displayed at the top of the screen.
Click Finder, then click Finder Preferences, then click the General tab
Under the heading of "Display these items on the desktop" make sure that there is a check mark in the box next to "Connected Servers"
    Close Finder Preferences
Open Macintosh HD or the Finder
Look to see if the Time Capsule icon is displayed under the SHARED heading in the Finder
Click on the Time Capsule icon and folders representing the Time Capsule disk and your Lacie disk should appear to the right
Double click on the Lacie folder to mount the drive on the desktop
You may need to click Connect As at the upper right of the center window if your disk requires a password. Once the password is saved, you should not have to enter the password in the future.

  • Can use time capsule wifi but can't find time capsule in finder.

I have a 3TB time capsule that I bought about a month ago. I can use the WIFI but all of a sudden I can't find time capsule in finder. How do I locate it?
Thanks in advance for the help.

It is the Mavericks OS usually.
Try a simple reboot of the TC.. that is often enough. No luck..
Try a full network restart in correct order.. ie modem.. wait 2min.. TC .. wait 2min.. clients.
    No luck..
Manually mount the TC using Go, Connect to Server in Finder.
    Type in AFP://TCname.local or AFP://TCIPaddress
where you use the actual network name in place of the TCname.. ie not the name on the TC.. unless it is short, no spaces and pure alphanumeric.. which I do strongly advise. But its network name which is without spaces and no illegal characters which apple recommends you use.. eg apostrophe.
So Fred Blog's Airport Time Capsule is not the real network name.
It will become fred_blogs_airport_time_capsule which is a bad name still.
Easier use the IP, eg 10.0.1.1 for TCIPaddress.

  • Mackeeper has detected a virus in the time capsule back up - it is not possible to dele - it ite the file. Do I find time capsule in finder and delete the whole computer back up, then crate a fresh back up? Is that the only solution please?

mackeeper has detected a virus in the time capsule backup, it is not possible to delete the infected file. Do I mount time capsule in finder and then consign to junk the whole computer backup then create a fresh backup? Is that the only solution please.

Follow these instructions to uninstall MacKeeper. They have been tested with the most recent version of MacKeeper. Earlier versions than the one released in 2012 require more extensive work to uninstall all its components. Never install such junk on a Mac.
If you actually used MacKeeper to alter your system, e.g. "remove excess binaries" or such, you will need to reinstall OS X as well as all your additional software. Uninstalling MacKeeper is insufficient to reverse the corruption it is capable of - once again, that is if you used it.
If you merely installed MacKeeper but did not use it to perform any particular action, the following instructions will suffice.
If you used MacKeeper to encrypt any files or folders, use MacKeeper to un-encrypt them first.
Quit the MacKeeper app if it is running.
Open your Applications folder: Using the Finder's Go menu, select Applications.
Drag the MacKeeper icon from your Applications folder (not the Dock) to the Trash.
You will be asked to authenticate (twice):
You do not need to provide a reason for uninstalling it:
Just click the Uninstall MacKeeper button. You will be asked to authenticate again.
After it uninstalls you may empty the Trash and restart your Mac. All that will remain is an inert log file that does nothing but occupy space on your hard disk.
May I suggest that you review the following setting in System Preferences?
Although you may easily override that setting, it will serve to protect you from inadvertently installing garbage. The overwhelming majority of Macs I come across have the MacKeeper installer file already present in their Downloads folder, often multiple copies of it. The downloaded file itself can do nothing until it is opened and installed, and the above setting (known as Gatekeeper - not to be confused with MacKeeper) will prevent that from occurring.

  • Can't see Time Capsule in finder using Yosemite OS

I'm using Yosemite 10.10.1 on my MacBook Pro and I just purchased a 1TB time capsule to replace my Belkin wireless router and WD external hard drive. I have my wireless network configured and am able to connect to the internet/connect wireless printer, but I cannot access Time Capsule in Finder. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Welcome to Yosemite.
Open up System Preferences, then open Sharing
Check to see if the name of the Mac appears correctly....and there is not a (2), (3), (4) etc appearing as part of the name.
Some users have reported that turning off the firewall on their Macs has helped with this issue.
It may...or may not....help to make sure that the settings for IPv6 are set to Link Local Only on your Mac
    Open System Preferences.....
Open Network > Click on WiFi > Click on Advanced > TCP/IP tab > Configure IPv6 set to Link Local Only > OK > Apply
Network > Click on Ethernet> Click on Advanced > TCP/IP tab > Configure IPv6 set to Link Local Only > OK > Apply

  • Time capsule in finder problems

    Dear All
i am being particularly slow with this and would love some guidance. My time capsule has been set up for some time and time machine is backing up automatically as it should. All's good.
My confusion arises because i can see my time capsule in finder under "shared" but during a back up i can also see the time capsule under "devices" and they would appear to have different data on them. 'Shared' has the sparesbundle file while the 'devices' one has backup on it. I spent some time moving data from my mac to the 'devices' disk (to use as an external HD) and then realised that i can only see the devices disk when an actual back up is occuring. So i decided to copy this data to the 'shared' disk as this one was always visible in finder. What exactly am i doing here?
Finally i have plugged another external HD into the time capsule but am unable to see it in finder. i can see it in disk utility though??
    PLease help a newbie

That is your Time Machine sparsebundle.

You shouldn't be doing this. Create a separate folder to place those files in.
Anything in the sparsebundle should only be for the TM backup.
Finally i have plugged another external HD into the time capsule but am unable to see it in finder. i can see it in disk utility though??
Click on the Shared -> TC -> TC Disk. It should be there. The HDD should be formatted HFS+ or FAT/FAT32 for it to be view. I do not think it can read/write an NTFS drive.

  • Why doesn't disk utility recognize time capsule when finder does recognize it as a shared device?

Why doesn't disk utility recognize time capsule when finder does recognize it as a shared device?

I don't have a TC, but I hate Network solutions, as there is no way to repair them!
Not wishing to look up what a TC can do, is there any wayto connect it directly???

Boot into recovery (hold ⌘R on boot), then select "Reinstall OS X", then when prompted, transfer data from your Time Capsule.

  • Time Capsule "hangs" Finder

    Hello,
my Time Capsule started to become extremely unstable: it frequently becomes unavailable, i.e. if i try to open the disk, the Finder freezes and I have to reboot the Mac and the Time Capsule. Even Airport utility cannot open it (e.g. says "reading TC configuration", but freezes too). Most of the times i need to do a reset. Did soft, hard and factory reset, but the problem persists. Internet still works, however.
On my TC I have the backups managed by Time Machine and some working folders.
configuration: iMac with OSX Lion and 2GB TC connected wirelessly.
Thanks in advance for your support

configuration: iMac with OSX Lion and 2GB TC connected wirelessly.
    What model is the TC?
You stated in the profile .. Time Capsule 802.11n (3rd Gen)
Only the very last of the Gen3 came with 2TB disk.. if it is that old then the TC has now become unreliable.. they have a working life of around 3years.
If there are files you want to recover do a full factory reset and use ethernet to the TC.. place the files on USB drive.. then wipe the TC. (You can do it directly via a USB drive of 2TB plugged into the TC and begin an archive which should work ok still).
Wipe the drive in the TC and buy a new one.

  • When I open my Airport Utility I don't always see the airport come up, even though Timeport is backing up AND I can see the time capsule in Finder.

Version 5.5.2 (552.11).   Updates tells me this is the up to date version, however I keep seeing a window asking me to update to 5.5.3.  I try this and normally receive 'software is up to date'.  Today something downloaded but I cannot remember what.
Also, when opening up Airport Utility I don't always get to find the airport extreme.  Sometimes I do.   Every time I try I am also able to carry out a backup using timemachine  and can also see the drive on Finder.
    In addition,
I have a 1TB drive hooked up to the USB port.  I cannot see it in finder even though I seem to be able to see Time Machine Backups under 'Devices',
I cannot find a way to access the 1TB drive.  I have hooked it to a local USB on my Macbook Pro and it works fine.

Just bought my Time Capsule today and had the same issue, or actually I did see it at first then allowed some software updates but after I restarted my computer, Airport Utility no longer recognized it. Solution: I had to reset my TC to factory settings by pushing the end of a pin into the Reset button (tiny hole in the back of your TC) and holding a few seconds until the amber light starts flashing rapidly. After that try the Airport Utility again and this worked for me. Good luck!

  • Can see Time Capsule in Finder but cannot view contents of it?

The only way I can find to restore visability, is to restart my macbook.  Any one have this same issue?

  • Cannot see Time Capsule in Finder

Greetings. I purchased a brand new Time Capsule. I set it up, and it would appear to be synced with Time Machine and working (steady green light) but I am wondering why I am unable to locate "Time Capsule" in my Finder? Thanks for your help. chris

Although Finder Preferences is normally set to "Show Connected Servers on the desktop", check to see if this is the case
Click anywhere on the open desktop to display the Finder menus at the top of the screen
Click Finder, then click Preferences, then the General tab
Under the heading of "Show these items on the desktop", make sure that there is a check mark next to "Connected Servers"
Then restart the Mac to see if the Time Capsule icon will appear under the SHARED heading in the Finder

  • Why does it take so long for time capsule to find my wireless printer?

Since I hooked up Time Capsule, it takes forever to find my wireless printer.  Why is that?

Did the Traceroute from the Network Utility Software and got the following results; however, not sure I know what I'm doing after that.  Sorry. My printer IP address is: 10.0.1.7.  The only other thing that attaches to my wifi is my laptop (macbookpro) and occassionally my wife's IPAD.
