NO "Time Travel" Window/ Can't restore!

My external HD is accepting backups, but when I open it now, I am not getting the "Time Travel" window showing past backups and the option to Restore. It IS backing properly. Any help most appreciated!

As I recall, when I first started TM back in Nov., nothing showed for many hours after the all night initial backup. Later everything worked. How many hourly backups have you had following the initial backup?
Also, how are you starting TM wayback? Are you viewing the desktop and then invoke TM? That should work.

  • Mountain lion mac osx 10.8.3 time machine backups are not visible in time travel window. Why?

Time Machine shows that it's backing up every day.  It recognizes my selected backup drive. The backups appear in that external drive.
However today I opened the Time Travel Window and it says, No Backups Available.
    Whazzup?

Unmount and remount the drive. Same thing?

Another one that Apple doesn't make obvious.

  • Backups   do not appear in the Time Machine "time travel window

After reinstalling my complete system (10.5.8) from the TM backup everything works fine except, in the time travel window only the backups after the complete reinstall show up. Anything earlier is grayed out. Opening the backup HD shows everything being there.
I did check the TM help to no avail.
    Any ideas anybody?

Hi, and welcome to the forums.
TM has apparently started a new "sequence" of backups. See #E1 in the Time Machine - Troubleshooting *User Tip* at the top of this forum.

The only way is to login to iCloud with your computer browser and wipe the iPhone.
If you can't then you have a brick, Apple won't help and AL cannot be bypass.

  • Just reinstalled Windows, Can't restore iTunes backup

I just reinstalled Windows 7 on my computer, and after installing the latest version of iTunes available from Apple, I can't restore any backup I made prior to the reinstall, with iTunes giving me error code -69.
I've tried reinstalling iTunes, but no dice so far. Should I be trying to do anything else to get this working?

  • Reorganized Project Window (can not restore my folder structure)

Using CC2014 on an iMac running Yosemite. Haven't updated anything so not sure what the issue is but here goes.
I typically organize my project files, then all of a sudden AE changed my folder structure. In the Project window it created a Solids, Nulls & Solids, Compositions and AI & PSD folders. All of my comps are in the compositions folder. All Ai and PSD files are in the AI and PSD folder. However, I would rather have it organized my way. I can open a previous version of the file and my organization structure is how I want it. I tried opening AE and restoring the default preferences and that didn't restore my structure. Is there some auto organize shortcut I accidentally hit? Never ran across this issue in all my years using AE. Any help is greatly appreciated!

^This is what it organized everything as. If I open the AI & PSD folder for instance, all layers of imported AI files are in there. There are no folders within them to reflect the layers of a certain piece of artwork for instance.
^This is the hierarchy of the ones I created. All have sub folders and Comps.
^This is the scripts panel here.
Contacted Adobe, did a screen share with them. They couldn't figure it out either and have said they never seen the issue before. Not sure if it is a bug or what happened. They said they didn't have a shortcut for organizing the project window like that.

  • IF MY TIME CAPSULE BREAKS, CAN APPLE RESTORE MY FILES ?

    JUST ASKING !

Apple will not offer this service, but there are a number of data restoration companies that specialize in this type of thing. Ask a service shop if they offer this service. If they don't, they will likely be able to refer you to a company that does.
The data can be rescued if the internal disk is intact and has not been damaged. In other words, if a Time Capsule fails because of a power supply problem or some other electrical issue, you will likely be able to retrieve the data on the disk. If the disk drive itself fails, the chances of saving the data go down quickly.
The best insurance against a failure in the Time Capsule is to use the "Archive" function of the Time Capsule. This will allow you to make a backup of all the data on the Time Capsule to another drive...just in case.

  • Time Machine - I can't restore the my Address Book!

I had a problem with MobileMe - it basically deleted all my Address Book, iCal and Mail.
I've tried restoring my Address Book from my most recent back up but it doesn't seem to work. Can anyone help?

Sorry - have sorted this now!

  • Lost/Hidden Windows -Can't restore

Somehow I managed to close or minimize the Canvas and Timeline windows and I can't get them back. They are grayed out in the Window Menu and Command-2 and Command-3 doesn't bring them back. Also Window->Arrange->Standard just rearranges my browser and viewer windows that are still visible.
If I open an entirely new project, all the windows are there. But if I open this specific project I was working on, I only see Browser and Viewer and not Canvas and Timeline. Does anyone know how to get them back!!!!!?
    Thanks

    Hi -
Find the sequence you were working on in your browser and double click on it. The sequence icon will look like this:

  • My brand new iPod Touch has asked me to connect to iTunes multiple times so it can be restored, what should I do if it continues?

It has happened twice now after only two days.  I connect it to iTunes and it restores, and then after some use it will start to react very differently and slow, not function properly.  Then when I restart it says it needs to connect to iTunes again and be restored.  If this happens again, what should I do?

Some Data may have become corrupted and if you are Restoring from Backup it is being put back into your Device.
    try a Restore as New...

ThanksYou might accidentally kill your grandfather? (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grandfather_paradox).
More seriously, you don't describe what you mean by time travelling - I can think of at least 3 oracle features that you could mean (flashback query, flashback database and workspace manager) and at least one database design that you could mean (scd), and you don't give a version either. That's going to make it difficult to anticipate what problems might occur. I would note that logical standby has some quite stringent requirements and may not always work well with less commonly used features (the usual issue of trying to use 2 less commonly used features together being likely to throw up oddities.).

  • I would like to use time Machine to back up to a network SMB drive. I can see the drive on my desktop but it will not show in the time machine window to be able to select it

I currently have a mini server (OSX10.8.5, server 2.2.2) that I am using Time Machine to back up 4 external drives that are connected to the server via firewire 800. I would like to use Time Machine to back up to a windows network SMB drive. I can see the drive on my desktop but it will not show in the time machine window to be able to select it for use.
    Can this be done
Thanks for any and all help

The supported targets for Time Machine backups are local (direct-connected) disks, and network targets include Time Capsule, a disk hanging off the current-generation AirPort (though not earlier AirPort devices), and OS X Server systems.
The Time Machine storage is based on the HFS+ file system, so I would not expect TM to work with SMB file services.
While there are hacks to allow Time Machine to access network drives, I would not consider those to be reliable. Skim the forum and the 'net for related details, and for previous discussions of setting this up and the related issues that can arise.
Remember to test the recovery with whatever you decide to use; whole point of backups is the ability to restore the data, after all.

  • Time Capsule can't restore files

My initial backup took like 20 hours for 80Gb.
Now when i go into Time Machine it says "Connecting to Back Up Disk" for about 5 minutes then it takes another 3 minutes to load whatever and only then when i click on a Backed up window from like a day ago it goes into it and starts loading God Knows what. Like it just keeps loading something and never finishes.
Have to cancel it every time. So I can't restore anything.
    What do I do?
Is anyone experiencing the same thing?
    Thanx

Erm. Yeah i tried that. At first it seemed a little faster, but then it completely froze when i went a yesterday's back-up (the window was blank as always too).
Really anoying. Is it generally supposed to be fast? Like when u click on the icon does it come up straight away and u can go off and restore anything?
