No toolbar or option to "put files" in the File panel

I am running Dreamweaver CS3 on an 8 core MacPro with 16 gigs of ram and Snow Leopard 6.2.
When I installed CS3 and opened Dreamweaver, I noticed the file panel does not have a tool bar.
Also when I Control-click the file to put on the web, there is no option to "put" files. I did set up my web site
and Dreamweaver does in fact connect to it when tested, but I can no longer upload files.
Appreciate any suggestions.

Sure, getting used to a new layout (actually, rebuilding the workspace you liked!) takes a little poking around.
Also look under "Window"...you will find panels galore there.
Sorry, but I don't remember CS3's workspace. If you don't find these options, look under Preferences as there could be something there.
And up under the Workspace icon. Feel free to use the Help Button...at least in CS4, it will take you to pages on the Adobe site.

My ipod isnt letting me sync it to my computer without a passcode, which it will not give me the option to put on into the ipod, what do i do?

Every time i plug the ipod into itunes it says i need to put the passcode in but the ipod touch doenst give me that option. Connect in recovery mode and restore, you'll get the option to reset the passcode during this process:
iOS: Unable to update or restore and iPhone and iPod touch: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen
If you cannot remember the passcode, you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and resync the data from the device (or restore from a backup). If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present. Refer to Updating and restoring iPhone, iPad and iPod touch software.

I hate tabs on the top and there's no option to put them on the bottom. WHY

enough said. Why would ANYONE assume users want tabs at the top all the time? What an ignorant upgrade. I'm moving to Chrome.

In mozilla thunderbird options, i can't find the Attachments panel

I am trying to learn about the Filelink option. In the article called Filelink for Large Attachments it describes how to configure Filelink and says that in "Options" there is an Attachments panel. I have looked in options and found no Attachments panel.Please advise.

"Put file" Option in Receiver File Adapter

Hi All,
Even though this seems to be a basic Question, i didn't found any answer to this in SDN.
Please share your thoughts on this.
We have one option called Put file in the receiver file adapter, When i read the use of this option i found some thing on SAP help.
But i am not clear about that option, if any one can clear that, it would be great.

Put file is put the file directle in the receiver file path.
there are 2 options for put file
1. Directly    2. Use Temporary File.
Directly:   Directly will directly place the file in specified folder. In some cases ur file is large then this option wont work.
Use Temporary File:    In some cases u want to wait more time to create output file then the sepecified poll interval.In that cases in file is read some data and saved in a temporary file, after reading or completion of whole file then only only it will place the file in speficied server path.

Please can you put the "Open New Tab" button back where it was on the right hand side of the tabs, or at least give an option to put it there? Thanks.

In the line of tabs along the top of the screen, there used to be an extra tab with a + in it that you clicked to open a new tab, on the right hand end of the tabs. As the tabs always float left and new tabs appear on the right this was (in my opinion) the most logical place for it. However, now the only two places I am able to put this "tab" are at the extreme left, which is illogical seeing as the new tab appears on the right, or in the toolbar along with other tools. This is adequate, but I would prefer to see the "new tab" tab back where it was.
The option to put it on the far right of the tab ribbon was not working until this latest version of Firefox, by the way, but I'm sure you know this!

Thanks. I don't know why it wouldn't just go back there when I tried putting it back? I didn't change anything, so I assumed the new "default" was over on the left. Glad it was a simple solution after all.

Putting files when multiple sites are open

I often have pages from several different sites open at the same time. If I mistakenly tried to upload a file from Site A while Site B was active, CS4 would give me a warning and prompt me to select the proper site first. However, my new CS6 doesn't seem to do this. Is there a setting I've missed somewhere? It was a very helpful feature.

I've just tested it in the Windows version of Dreamweaver CS6.
If you select the File Management icon from the Document toolbar and click Put, the Files panel automatically switches to the relevant site and puts the file. I suppose this could be a problem if you have similar files or different sites for live and staging servers.
As far as I know, there is no option to get Dreamweaver to prompt you if you're in the wrong site. If that's a problem for you, I suggest you file a bug report/feature request through the form at http://adobe.ly/DWBug.

DREAMWEAVER putting files in wrong folder

Our webhost ATT made a big server switch. I've made all the changes required to point Dreamweaver in the right direction, but the files I try to "put" on our website are going to a hidden folder and not on the active site. I've spent loads of time talking to ATT tech support and they say that the changes need to be made in Dreamweaver. I know enough about Dreamweaver to change and 'put' files on our site. HELP! This folder has to be updated frequently as we sell tickets for performances online.

OK, I think that still used the CS4 style menus...
1. Verify you have your site definition open. From the Files window (F8 if it's not open) in DW, make sure you have the site name showing in the left hand drop down and Local View in the right hand menu at the top. Below those will be your toolbar starting with Connect and ending with Expand. Below that will be all of your site files, which should look something like...
Where your site should say something like...
Site - YourAwesomeSite (whatever you named your site in DW)
     -htdocs
          -index.html
          +css
          +fonts
          +pages
          etc...
          etc...
2. If your site looks like the YourAwesomeSite example above, where everything shows up under the htdocs folder, all you need to do is click and drag the files out of htdocs and drop them on the MyAwesomeSite level. DW will ask you to update links, click Update or Yes. Delete the now empty htdocs folder.
3. Test the pages
4. If everything is working in Preview, Go to your settings: Site > Manage Sites > click the site you are working on > Edit
5. Under the Advanced tab, click Remote Info and make sure /public is in your Host Directory (it might also be called Root Directory or Server Root maybe). If you had to add it, click Apply or Save or Done, whichever one is there. Close the settings window and the Manage Sites Dialogue
6. Click the Expand button in the Files window. That will make it take up the whole screen and place your remote view on one side and local on the other.
7. Hit connect. If everything is set up correctly, you should only see the public folder and its contents on the Remote View side. If you see anything else at the top of the file list for remote view, your FTP info is not set up correctly.
8. If you are seeing the public folder and its contents only, go ahead and click Put to put the entire site to that folder.
That should do it.

I am trying to move a pdf file onto my iPad2, and it says that the device is not connected or has stopped working. But Windows 7 recognizes the device and I can see my pictures. Same thing happens when I try to put music onto the iPad.

When in iTunes on the computer,my our ipadmshould show under devices.
Click on your ipadmunder devices then go to music at top center of the iTunes window, check what you want to sync for music. You need to set it to a folder if I remember which would have your music in it you want synced.
Same with PDF files.....there should be an option for data or even PDF files at the top center area of iTunes when the iPad is clicked under devices.
If your iPad does not show or you cannot click on it under devices which is in the leftane of iTunes, the iPad is not being seen by the computer.
Try unplugging the USB cord from the laptop then give it a few and see if the computer picks it up.

DW CC will not Put files to remote

Dreamweaver CC often refuses to put files.

Looking at my log, I get this sort of message:

My system:
Dreamweaver CC
MackBookPro
OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.5
Memory 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Processor 2.3 GHz Intel Core i7
I am really quite frustrated and while I like the features in DW CC, I may have to go back to a previous version or switch Vendors altogether.
Any help from Adobe on this one? I'm shelling out quite a bit of $$$ for this service- please provide a modicum of product support.

We're all product users just like you. When I have trouble getting files to upload it's almost always one of the following:
Local memory is low. Close DW and restart your computer.
Cache or personal configuration folder is corrupted.

Or, there's a problem with the server.
Can you connect and upload with a 3rd party FTP client like Filezilla? If not, you know the problem isn't with DW alone.

I would like to use Dreamweavers's ftp capability to send my
files to a
remote server. I've read the instructions in "Dreamweaver MX
2004 - The
Missing Manual" by David McFarland. However, the screenshots
of the Files
Panel don't look like Files Panel in my session: I don't have
a row of
buttons of File Transfer Tools. In other words, there is no
toolbar for the files
panel -- unless I click on the option Expand Files Panel
which gives me this
Files Panel in its own separate window.
Also, when I expand, I don't see how to get the views of the
local and remote sites side-by-side.

Missing toolbar on Files Panel

In the 'Files Panel' I have only the 'Files' Tab together
with the small left window underneath it which drops down to enable
you choose your site. The right window which normally gives you the
choice of 'Remote' or 'Local 'view has gone and in its place the
hyperlinked text saying 'Manage Sites'. So have the radio buttons
on the second line where you can connect to the server and 'put' or
'get' files.
On the 'Site' drop down menu at the very top of the screen
all the middle section containing the 'put' and 'get' options are
greyed out.
If I 'save' an updated page on our website it gets uploaded
and the server tests ok.
I have uninstalled Dreamweaver 8 and re-installed it - hoping
that it would solve the problem but it made not difference and I am
left with the same problem.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Please go to SITES | Manage Sites..., select the site name,
and click on
Edit. Click on the Advanced tab at the top. Tell me the
following -
Under LOCAL INFO
The contents of "Local root folder:"
The contents of "Default images folder:"
Under REMOTE INFO
The contents of "FTP Host:"
The contents of "Host directory:"

Problem PUTting files

I've recently installed CS4 on my computer (new computer also. I was using DW MX on a different computer before, and it worked fine). Now I can't seem to Put files to my sites. The pages are uploading and saving fine. I'm accessing the servers OK. But when I save the file, it doesn't include the dependent files. And, when I go to manually put the files, the bottom of the Files window says 'File activity complete', but the files aren't moved.
Do I have a setting wrong somewhere?

There are two options for putting and getting dependent files. Check them.

Spotlight does not give the option to show file names only

I have noticed that Spotlight doesn't have the button to allow for showing only the file name that contain the search word. I use this function a lot and not having it makes my searches much more tedious. Anyone know if there is some hidden way now in Lion to do this?

Well, after digging for a while in help, I found it. You have to click "show all" after beginning the search, then click on the + sign to add criteria, then choose criteria from the pop-up menu labeled "Kind". I had to go further and click on "other" to find "filename", then it worked. It seems like a lot more work than it was before. I would think that putting a few buttons with some of the most common uses at the top of the window would be more convenient, or at least, providing an option to put those buttons there.
