No Trusted Device and Recovery Key

I've lost the iPad that was my only trusted device and lost my Recovery Key. I understand that means I will need to get a new AppleID, but will I lose all of the apps (and credit in the app store)?

From Frequently asked questions about two-step verification for Apple ID :
What do I need to remember when I use two-step verification?
Two-step verification simplifies and strengthens the security of your account. After you turn it on, there's no way for anyone to access and manage your account at My Apple ID other than by using your password, verification codes sent to your trusted devices, or your Recovery Key. You must be responsible for:
Remembering your password
Keeping your trusted devices physically secure
Keeping your Recovery Key in a safe place
If you lose access to two of these three items at the same time, you could be locked out of your Apple ID permanently. With two-step verification turned on, only you can reset your password, manage your trusted devices, or create a new Recovery Key. Apple Support can help you with other aspects of your service, but they aren't able to update or recover these three things for you.
If you forget your password then you won't be able to get it reset, so will lose access to the account's purchases and balance

  • HT5577 Devices and Recovery ID stolen. Unable to access account with two-step verification. Apple does not care. What can I do?

    Last year, my backpack containing my laptop and phone were stolen. My Recovery Key was saved as a screenshot on the laptop and on the phone and I have no other copy. I remotely wiped both devices. I had no insurance for such circumstances and replaced them at my own expense but I cannot access my AppleID account because Two-Step Verification is active and my old telephone number was replaced and I no longer have access to it. I can live with losing the devices as a result of my own stupidity, but Apple claims they are unable to restore my access to my old account in spite of the special circumstances. Apple can confirm my identity via my bank details and my email address but they do not seem to care. I've lost access to my music, software, calendars etc. I have a new AppleID - I had no other option but to set one up - but it irks me that Apple is unwilling to transfer purchases made on my old AppleID to my new one. I am considering taking legal action to regain my purchases and wonder if anybody else has found themselves in a similar situation.

    If apple tracked deviced they sold they would be violating a great number of privicy laws and would face class action and criminal lawsuits in most of the western countries

  • I forgotten my bit locker password and recovery key.i need help .................

    i lost my bit locker password and i lost recovery key,i need help ..please help ......such important things are there in my e drive....pls mail me [email address redacted]

    Unfortunately if you lose the password and the recovery key you are not able to decrypt and access the information, that is the sole purpose of BitLocker.

  • HT5577 I lost recovery key and trusted device, how do I rescue my funds on account?

    Lost recovery key and trusted dev, and need to transfer balance on account how do I do this?

    You will need one of your trusted devices to be able to change your password : Apple ID: Can't sign in with two-step verification - Apple Support
    Nobody else should be able to download from a new device or computer unless they have access to two of your password, a trusted device, and your recovery key. You are sure that they are using it e.g. there are a number of phishing emails doing the rounds saying that something has been downloaded on an account and to click on a link in the email if it wasn't you that made it so as to request a refund (i.e. so that they can capture your password and payment details).
    If they are 'proper' purchases then you can try contacting iTunes Support : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page

  • I lost my recovery key

    i lost my recovery key, but i still know my password for my apple id.  I sold all my previous devices and have no access to them.  I registered my iphone 5 with the same apple id and its all good.  i wanted to manage my devices, but i am unable to because its asking for the recovery key, which i dont have.  Can somebody help me out on how i can do this.  Really need your help.  Anyone.

    Is this for two-step verification? If so:
    If you cannot access any of your trusted devices, you can still access your account at My Apple ID using your password and Recovery Key. You should verify a new trusted device as soon as possible. See this article for more information.

  • Lost 2-Step Verification Recovery Key

    Today I got an email saying two apps were downloaded from a device I have never used, so I went to appleid.apple.com to reset my password. However, once I entered my email and password the webpage asks for my Recovery Key, which I have lost.
    I looked at an Apple support page and they said that as long as you have access to a trusted device, then you can sign up with those. However, the first thing the sign-in page wants after my password is my Recovery Key, with no option to use my trusted device.
    Could anyone suggest possible ways to solve this problem? All 3 of my devices were restored about a month ago, so does that remove them from the trusted device list?
    Thanks

    There are three main things you have to chose from for identification.
    Tursted Device
    Password
    Recovery Key
    Generally, to modify your account you need at minimum TWO of these. Any less, and you are in dire straits my fiend..  Did you not print out the recovery key when suggeseted? Do you remember setting up the recovery key?
    There is by default at least a 72 hours wait period before this can be done, to give you time to respond to a hijack.

  • HT5577 Recovery Key lost

    I lost my keys Recovery Key stored on my USB . But Lost .
    Q How can I reset the password of the Body ID . So my password is disabled .

    You can access http://appleid.apple.com to reset the password provided that you know the current password and have the 'trusted device' to which Apple can send an entry key. Then you can request a new recovery key which you should keep very safe.
    If you don't have both the trusted device and the password then you are locked out and no-one can help you.

  • Apple ID Recovery Key not working

    A few days ago I changed my phone number and I forgot to update my phone number on my Apple ID. I thought it would be OK because I have my iPhone as a trusted device and I have the recovery key. But when I login the only options for two step verification is SMS and recovery key. When ever i try using the recovery key it says
    The Recovery Key you entered is not valid.
    I know the key is right because I've only ever had one and I downloaded the PDF straight from the Apple ID site as soon as I setup two step verification. Since it doesn't know about my iPhone anymore and it's saying my key is wrong does that mean I'll have to make a new Apple ID?

    I made the same mistake... sold my iPhone 6 Plus. No #, no device, you're screwed. I have an iMac, iPad Air & 3 Apple TVs and this was my master account.  Low and behold the only two device verification's I had on the account after setting up the iPhone 6 Plus was that # (gone) and that device (gone). SO -- my account is in limbo. I always thought my recovery key was my safety net. The recovery key I was provided didn't work (Invalid). 2 support calls later and they pretty much told me it was my fault. I had security questions, I know most everything purchased on my account w/ emailed receipts. I have phone log proving I had that number. Not good enough, Apple?
    Maybe someone at Apple can help? No longer being able to access my account resulting from issues and oversights with your 2-step verification system is NOT acceptable. I'm not an idiot and I'm not thrilled with being treated like one. I have 2-step authentication set up on Google, Facebook and Microsoft and went through similar recovery processes without any issues.

  • Bitlocker fails to store recovery key in AD

    I am deploying Windows 8.1 with Bitlocker with TPM and PIN and recovery keys stored in AD.
    This works fine for most deployments but rarely Manage-bde fails to store the Recovery key into AD. This only happened three times over about 200 deployments.
    I have checked the ZTIBDE.WSF script and I have noticed that the command is launched but there is no check on its return code. I am not even sure if Manage-bde actually returns any. Therefore for the failed deployments I don't know why the recovery key wasn't
    stored and also I din't get any report that it actually failed. The only reason we realised that is because one user had problems in getting the PIN to work and required the Recovery Key. To our surprises this was not in AD! This is then when we checked
    all AD objects and found only three didn't have it. Looking at the deployment logs there are no errors for these.
    Luckily the user then successfully managed to enter the PIN and could boot up his laptop (and, by the way, we could get his recovery key from C:\).
    Questions:
    1) Has anybody else experienced this?
    2) Does Manage-BDE return anything at all? It seems strange to me that ZTIBDE.WSF doesn't check for its return code as the script checks for errors in a million places.
    3) Is there any easy way I can check whether the AD info is actually stored? I was thinking to write some code to query AD for that computer and see if the BL info actually are there. Maybe Manage-BDE can provide that?
    Many thanks.

    Hi,
    This link has all the information you need. And more importantly which policies to create.
    I have managed to do this implementation myself, and can only state that it works like a charm.
    See a copy/paste of the bit-locker section I have configured in the customsettings.ini when doing deployments with MDT:
    [HP Elitepad 900]
    SkipTaskSequence=YES
    TaskSequenceID=OSD001
    ; Bitlocker Configuration
    BDEInstallSuppress=NO
    BDeWaitForEncryption=False
    BDEDriveLetter=S:
    BDEDriveSize=2000
    BDEInstall=TPM
    ; OSDBitLockerCreateRecoveryPassword=AD
    BDERecoveryKey=AD
    BDEKeyLocation=C:\Windows\BDEKey
    Hope this helps!

  • Bitlocker no recovery key, no access to computer.

    During some standard automatic updating, bitlocker became active ( I dont know how ).
    When I tried to log-on next time I was asked for the "Windows Bitlocker Drive Encryption Recovery Key", I don't have it.
    Is there a way to access the laptop. I can prove it is mine and have all the required No's for the machine and the windows-7 OS.

  • Windows 8.1 Pro Shows me (Identifier) Key ID FCB##### & I have the Recovery Key File with 48 digits - It Will Not Unlock!!

    And the password, I have tried unlocking the Gold Key Locked drive by right clicking on it in file explorer and also going to the control panel, In both area's I have tried the password phrase and the Recovery Key 48 digits I have in both the Cloud and on
    a secondary HD, so what I am saying is I have all the information and I am still unable to unlock the drive.
    Any suggestions?
    The only thing I did, was when I signed back into the drive I recreated the file, but it shpould not have done a thing because I used the same password phrase.
    I also so have that written down on a piece of paper, so I have it on paper, in a digital file and in the Cloud and it just will not open the drive.
    I need help, I have also use the command prompt all to no avail. it gives me a "Wrong Password", there's no way because I was using the same phrase P/W and I was going in and out of the drive. It wasn't until the next day that I was unable to get
    back in.
    Any help, suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello Encryptionist,
    Do you mean that you can’t use the password and recovery key to unlock the BitLocker encrypted volume?
    Have you made any changes before this issue?
    Do you receive any error message when you use the password to unlock the volume?
    Please double check if you have input the right password and recovery key.
    Please check if you have forget that you change the password and recovery key.
    Additionally, we could run the command repair-bde to repair drive.
    The following example attempts to repair drive C and write the content on drive C to drive D by using the 48-digit recovery password specified. The recovery password should be typed in eight blocks of six digits with a hyphen separating each block.
    repair-bde C: D: -rp 111111-222222-333333-444444-555555-666666-777777-888888
