No TV Shows category on ipod

hey i have a problem when i go to videos on my ipod i have music videos, movies, and video podcasts but i dont have a tv shows section. i have tv shows on my itunes that i put there. how do i fix this?

I'm working on this issue. They are there, it is just because there is not "Show" catigory editable by the user. What you can do is make a playlist or a smartplaylist that includes this video.

You can just label it as a movie or music video (i dont like this option, it just seems disorganized).
That is the best workaround I have until apple makes it so that you can change the show and season catigories.

  • The "TV Shows" category on my Ipod video menu disappeared

I forgot when this happened but the "TV Shows" category disappeared from my ipod menu. Now my purchased tv shows is no longer in my ipod but still appears in my itunes. Does anyone know the solution for this problem?

The same thing happened to me. Connect your iPod to your PC and open iTunes. Once iTunes recognizes your iPod, click on 'Display iPod Options'. You should get a tabbed menu. Click on Video. Check off the box Update All. That will put the TV Shows list back on!

i imported some tv shows that i already had on my computer (i didn't get the from the itunes music store) and, by default, the video shows up under the "movies" category in my ipod. i have some other tv shows that i did buy from the itunes music store, and it shows up under the "tv shows" category. when i change the non-music store videos to "tv shows" under the options tab, they then disappear and don't get transferred to my ipod at all. can i work around this?

  • Transferring iTunes Store Protected TV Shows to the TV Show Category.

I bought about 10 episodes of Lost before there was a separate TV Shows category in the iTunes library. So they are now protected in the Movie section. Is there a way to move them to the TV section even though they are protected?
I know that if it's not protected you can change it under "get info>video."
I'm not trying to burn to DVD or illegally share them or anything I'd just like them to be in the right section with the rest of my TV shows and play in the right section of my iPod.
    TIA

There's no reason I can see that they won't sync.
Plug your iPhone into the computer and open iTunes if it doesn't open for you.
Select the iPhone in the left hand column
    Click on the Video tab
Pull down to "All unwatched" or something like "3 most recent unwatched" and click on selected TV shows then select "The Daily Show..."
Once you're done you'll probably need to resync. Click the Apply button in the lower right hand corner to do this.
    Hope that helps!

  • How do you change the name of a show on your ipod

i have downloaded some tv shows onto my ipod but i dont know how to change the name of the show so they actually come up on my ipod, other shows i have downloaded already have a show name and come up on my ipod but i can't re-name the show, i can however rename the artist but that doesn't make a difference, could someone please help??

I'm assuming that you're saying TV Shows that you add to your library from an external source aren't showing up in the TV Shows section on your iPod. If so, this is because, well, it's just the way it is. Only TV Shows purchased directly through the iTMS (that are listed as a TV Show by default) will show up under the TV Shows category on your iPod.
If you'd like Apple to change this, send them feedback.

  • What happened to my TV SHOWS on my iPod?

So I went on the iTunes music store and downloaded one of the free "million lowdown Grey's Anatomy" TV show. iTunes then prompted me to upgrade to iTunes 7 in order to view this download and also I upgraded to Quicktime 7.1.3, and my iPod to 1.2
...... so it turned out ok for the first couple days, I was able to view the TV Shows on my iPod w/ no problem. But today when I was browsing through my iPod, the menu for "TV Shows" was nowhere to be found!
My TV shows were still on my computer on iTunes and I was able to view them there.... but NOT in my iPod.
The "TV Shows" selection is nowhere to be found on my iPod. There are "Movies" but no "TV Shows".
    What's wrong here?

It only shows the TV Show category on the iPod if your TV Shows are properly ID-ed as TV Shows.
To check, select a video and cmd+i, then go to the "Info" tab and make sure the drop down menu has "TV Show" selected. The default selection is "Movie".
New in iTunes 7 is you can also properly specify season and episode number as well.

  • Tv shows category missing.

    Help Please,
Just received 5.5G 30G video iPod.Bought 2 episodes of The Office and downloaded successfully to iPod. After docking to iHome clock radio, lost the two shows. Tried to redownload them with no luck. They are both checked on itunes. Tried resetting and then restoring. When syncing it will download all songs and podcasts but no tv shows. Then I noticed that the TV SHOWS category is missing from the video menu. Tried restoring again but category still missing. I did download the latest software. Hope someone can help. Thanks.

in the iPod Summary, click on the videos/tv shows tab. make sure it is set to copy all tv shows to iPod...not just unplayed episodes. The files probably got registered as played when you connected your iPod to your iHome and iTunes deleted them. Hope this helps.

  • I can not import TV shows into my iPod

Hi, when my iPod synches up, it does not import 2 TV shows that are in my itunes library. It did import the last purchase I made.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
The TV Shows category will appear once the iPod gets the video.
    A few things to try...
    1) Try playing the video on your computer for a few seconds to authorize it.
    2) Do you have any purchased music or other videos? Do those transfer to the iPod? This tells us if it is a preferences problem or an authorization problem. If you haven't purchased anything else, please download the free song of the week. See if that plays on the iPod (or even gets on to it)
    3) Is everything up to date on your computer?
    iTunes
    iPod Updater
    4) Connect the iPod and go to edit-->preferenes. Click the iPod tab. Click the videos tab under that. Make sure automatically update all videos is selected.
Note: Your preferences may look slightly different.

  • TV Show Category?

I just wanted to know how do you get tv shows to show up on your ipod under this category because all i can find is movies and video playists...any help?

I think (but I'm not 100% certain) that the TV shows category only appears if you have any shows actually stored on the iPod.
If you have, where are these shows downloaded from?

  • My classic video ipod won't switch back to regular video mode after using it on an elliptical. The port still allows me to charge and works on the elliptical and treadmill but it will no longer change modes to allow me to watch my shows on the ipod screen

My classic video ipod won't switch back to regular video mode after using it on an elliptical. The port still allows me to charge and works on the elliptical and treadmill but it will no longer change modes to allow me to watch my shows on the ipod screen

From the iPod's Main Menu choose Videos -> Settings and make sure TV Out is set to Off.
Otherwise, try a hard reset as well.  To do this, press and hold both the Select (Center) and Menu buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.

    HELP ME

    Hi oliverfromkings hill,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like you may have purchased TV shows on an iPod touch, and want to transfer them to the iTunes library on your Mac.
You can use the steps in this article to transfer purchases from your iPod to your computer:

  • HT5552 How can I use an iTunes gift card to buy tv shows on my iPod touch?

Or do I need to buy the tv shows on a computer, with an iTunes gift card?

TV programmes can't be redownloaded in all countries (and even where they can be there is no guarantee that they will remain in a country's store for future redownloading) so it may be easier to do it on your computer's iTunes and then sync them (and so that you can take a backup)

  • Movies and TV Shows Missing form iPod menu -- what's up with that?

I purchased my fist movie and TV episode last night to see how well I will like them on my iPod classic. I am connecting to the most up to date version of iTunes on my IBM/Win XP computer.
I watched the episode (Journeyman's first episode -- missed it on Monday...it's not bad) and was pleased. Then watched Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy -- also enjoyable even at the small size (especially the opening sequence which emulates "home movie" style in a very small frame).
Near the end of the movie, my iPod battery was giving up the ghost, so I paused the movie and plugged in. After waiting out the "Do not disconnect..." syncing process the main menu finally appeared on the iPod -- but the Movie and TV Shows selections were conspicuously missing from the menu! I have not seen my Movie/TV episode since.
They are in the iTunes library, obviously, but they simply never show up in the iPod menu. So far I have sync'd a number of times -- the sync settings were originally set by default to sync all songs, podcasts, TV Shows, Movies, Songs, etc... I tried "tweaking" these but to no avail. All syncs result in no Movie or TV Shows on the iPod menu.
Most recently I tried deleting all material from the iPod and then re-syncing all material back to the iPod (no help) and lastly I tried resetting to factory default settings (which originally seemed to work just fine) still to no avail.
When I select Settings >> Main Menu ... from the iPod main menu, the configuration screen also does not contain options for Movies or TV Shows.
It all makes me say "Hmmmm...." and leaves me reluctant to waste money on video media (though thank god my Tiki TV podcasts are still coming through just fine ... no Lala? I don't think so!). Nope, check that! video podcasts are not coming through either. GEEZE!
Has anyone experienced this before? Again, I've updated all iPod and iTunes software. Nothing "funky" seemed to happen to cause the problem, other than it conincided with plugging my iPod in (which kicks off the blasted sync process -- geeze these settings are a pain...I'd prefer the blasted thing to just sync on demand) >:-( Any help/suggestions would be most appreciated. Without a solution, I'll never be able to keep up with Journeyman!
    Thanks
    NK

I can't remember exactly what I did. I do know that when I started it up, I couldn't find the Setup Assistant on the hard drive,
No, once a user has been created, you can't run Setup Assistant  (without erasing and reinstalling).
What do you recommend for fixing this?
    Here's what's happened:
When you first start up a Mac and create the first user account, OSX assigns it UID (User ID) #501.  The next one gets #502, etc.  Those UIDs (not the user name) are what control permission to files.
You can see those numbers via System Prefs > Users & Groups;  click the padlock and enter your Admin password, then select an account and right-click it, and select Advanced Options.  Do not change anything on that window.
So . . . assume your old iMac had a user 501 with the data you want; it's identified that way on the backups.
When the Apple Store started up your new Mac, and created their account, it became #501.
When you used Migration Assistant to transfer the 501 account from the iMac's backups, OSX copied everything there "as is" except it had to change the 501 to 502.
The new 502 account has all the right permissions to things now in it's home folder, but the backups belong to user 501.
Have you added much to the Mac since you did the migration?  Have you done any new backups?  If not, while it's a bit of a hassle, one fix would be to create yet another user account temporarily.  Make it an Admin account.  Log on to it and delete all the other accounts.  Then migrate the accounts from your backups; this time there won't be a conflict, so OSX won't have to change the UUID(s).
But if you have done new backups, this won't work, since Migration Assistant automatically uses the most recent backup.  There's a way around that, but it's a bit (or more) tedious.
    Clear as mud?

  • TS2581 Not all of my Playlists show on my iPod after sync

After I sync my iPod, there are a number of playlists that do not show on my iPod.  There are no strange characters, just letters in the names.  Anyone have an idea what is going on or how I can get the playlists to sync to iPod?  This is a fairly recent occurance.  Maybe because of an iTunes update???

Plug your iPod into your PC and select it from under the Devices section in the left hand pane of iTunes.   Now locate the Music tab along the top and select that.  Under this tab, is your iPod configured to sync all of your playlists?
