No tweening, but still lagging

Just when I think I've got a good understanding of Flash, I
come across something that I never would have thought about before.
I was always told that if I animate everything through
actionscript, it will run much more smoothly than if I used
tweening. Now I animate everything through actionscript, but I'm
still having problems with my apps lagging. Would it have to do
with the stage being 1366x768? I know that's an unusually large
size for flash to push out. I work on a very good/fast mac, so I
don't think it has to do with the computer I'm running it on. I
read something recently about conserving CPU usage by calling upon
scripts only when needed. I didn't know I could even be executing a
script when I didn't need it. Is there something I'm completely
missing here?

my flash movies do load graphics on a large scale. i noticed
that when i scale my swf down, the movie runs flawless, but when i
scale it up it starts to lag. that probably has to do with loading
all those objects. my coding is very simple and i apply it directly
to the movie clips that i'm targetting so the code only exists when
that movie clip is on the stage. are there any quick fixes (or any
fixes for that matter) that might keep my movie from lagging as
much? are png files that much worse than jpg files?

  • How to Stop Lagging? at 1/4 resolution paused and playback but still lags?

I've never had this problem before but iv been sent some movs as part of a editing job and i make new sequence clip from file in premiere pro cs5.5 and the sequence settings are AVCHD square pixel 25p 1280x720,Square Pixels, No Fields 48000Hz.
I have a MacBook 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, Memory 2GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM Startup Disk Macintosh HD. The movs play fine in quicktime but play choppy in pro as I say never had these problems with AVCHD before and have tried converting to H.264 and Prores then reimporting but still lags, My media scratch disks are in a folder in my documents as they always have been, if i partion a drive and make set my scratch disks to that partitioned drive, I haven't partitioned a drive before and will back up my work first to be safe but would that make a difference as I want to avoid doing that if possible as have all my work on my laptop so dont want to rush in to something and accidentily delete my work. Please help
I'm not looking for someone just to say buy a new computer or hard drive- that is not helpful as I have had no problems with AVCHD in the past on the same computer with the same software so i'm looking for reasons to improve playback other than chaging resolution

I'm currently editing with bigger AVCHD files in another project which play fine at full resolution.
I've just converted the movs into proxies, 640x480 jpeg2000 and made a sequence from clip settings in pro and it still plays stuttereing playing around 1 frame every 5 frames, in quicktime it plays fine, this is an exmaple of the file I'm using...

I'm currently dealing with this issue myself, except that my rMBP has NO articles in the reading list.  It's a brand new rMBP too, purchased just this week, with the 2.6 Ghz Processor & 16GB of RAM.
Let's see what we can find.  I may just take it back to the Apple Store.

  • Source video clip works fine but its lagging in AE CS5

I recorded a Maya tutorial using ScreenFlow, the file is uncompressed and 4GB big and it has sound. Its 1920x1200 or something like that. Really big.
When I take it into After Effects CS5 it lags (both in RAM preview and when its rendered), like as if the framerate has been lowered to like 10fps. The sound is working just fine.
I did the exaaaact same thing the day before, but just with a smaller source file (around 2GB) and it didnt lag. The export settings from ScreenFlow was exactly the same. The render settings in AE are exactly the same, its the same composition actually.
I thought it might have been just something with the file being huge, so I went into AE, cut it up, rendered lossless animation but it was still lagging.
I went into Adobe Media Encoder and cut the video up into 3 parts, rendered it lossless and it flows fine, but in AE it still lags, just like before.
Im baffled, I have no idea what to do.
    Ideas?
    Cheers,
    Richard

Look for the section, "Use RAM preview to play video and audio".
Im starting to believe its just After Effects that cant handle the file (its 4.7somethingGB's, 30FPS, 1920x1200).
File size is irrelevant.  Bit rate is very relevant.  I'll bet you can't play the file properly in Quicktime, either.  Unless you have a RAID on an ESATA connection, your hard drive can't keep up.
I'd also think that previously to this file, you might have recorded in a different codec, which would explain why you could just hit the space bar and expect miracles.
There's nothing wrong with AE.  You just need to learn how to RAM Preview.

  • No audio output from my MacBook, but still chime sounds upon loading !

    Hi Guys,
Basically my Mac all of a sudden started bugging out loading real slow, Generally lagging. So I held the the power button down for ten seconds for an emergency reboot. When everything loaded up again I couldn't get any sound from my Mac being no bleeps when when I'd toggle with the volume or any sound when listening to iTunes. HOWEVER.. The chime upon loading when turning on the Mac works and when I open up one of my projects in Logic Pro X the sound works in relation to playing the music I've worked on with my project but still if I toggle the volume there's still no sound along with iTunes, Youtube... Everything !
Extremely strange and I'd really appreciate help with this please.

  • AirPort Extreme and AirPort Express and STILL lag in Battlefield

    Hello,
I recently purchased an AirPort Express, hoping to increase speeds of my wifi (currently getting around 10-13 mbps) so when I play Battlefield: Bad Company 2 on my Xbox 360 on Live, I wouldn't lag out.
Well, it did nothing. The Express is plugged in directly behind the XBox 360, so I can run ethernet to the AirPort and give my Xbox an N signal. That didn't help. So I disconnected the ethernet and hoped maybe the wireless would be fast for some reason. Well, I still lag through the match (not consistently, but at least several times each match I attempt to play) and 2/3 games I don't even get to finish because it kicks me out. I've considered going through the trouble of port forwarding but the last time I tried that, I saw no difference and thought I may have done something wrong. If there are any suggestions or very accurate walkthroughs for port forwarding, setting up a DMZ/default host, etc., let me know please. I'd love to enjoy my games on Xbox. But something tells me these Airp

If you want to try wireless again, you can give this a shot. I just discovered it, and it seems to have solved issues for me.
Open AirPort Utility; select your Extreme and/or Express and choose manual setup.
    Click >Wireless
    Change Radio Mode to 802.11a/n - 802.11b/g
    Click >Wireless Network Options
    Change Transmit Power to 50%
Check >Use interference robustness < This step is purely optional. It's worth a shot.
I've been noticing issues with performance of my Time Capsule for a while.
It really started with lack of good range, followed by lousy performance with my iPhone 4 and iPad 2. I was lucky to get 10% of what my speed really is (1.5 Mbps vs. 15.9 Mbps). My iMac was the only thing that seemed unaffected.
I attempted to setup a Sony Media Player (stay away from them- junk!) then a Roku XD in my bedroom only 20' down the hall from the Time Capsule (direct line of sight). Signal kept dropping and performance was lousy for both. I want another new Apple TV for the bedroom, but that TV doesn't have an HDMI port. I ended up running an ethernet cable down the hall... until this morning.
After some digging, I found a forum talking about WiFi performance for iPhones and stumbled upon something kinda basically unrelated, but gave me the idea to dig into AirPort Utility a bit deeper. Changing power to 50% didn't sound logical, but lowering output power was mentioned in the forum. AirPort Utility goes from 100% to 50% then lower. Nothing between 50% and 100%. I'll know more about range later today, but I have a feeling it may be mysteriously improved as well.
Hope it works out for you!

  • I have upgraded from 3.5 to 4.1 , it downloads to the folder but still uses the 3.5

I'm getting an urgent to update on my screen so I have updated from 3.5 to 4.1 , it has down loaded to the firefox folder but still brings up the old firerfox.
I have downloaded it 3 times and rebooted around 6 times but still the same screen telling me to upgrade as the older version is not now protected.
    Kind Regards
    Dennis

It looks that the update wasn't successful because your "More system details" list still shows a Firefox 3.5.19 version.
If there are problems with updating then best is to download the full version and uninstall the currently installed version.
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
    * Firefox 4.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
    * Firefox 3.6.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
    * Uninstall your current Firefox version.
    * Do not remove personal data when you uninstall the current version.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
    * It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Firefox Profile Folder] and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

If it says your billing info is wrong that means that your credit card issuer is refusing to approve your account. You will have to solve the problem with your bank or credit card company.

My computer runs on Windows 7, and I've installed and updated the latest versions of itunes etc, but still to no avail! I've tried different usb ports, troubleshooting, etc... But it still says "One of the USB decuces arrached to this omputer has malfunctioned and windows does not recognize it".
The iPod is brand new, sent to me by Apple as part of the 1st gen replacement programme. I've been using the cable that came with the 1st gen iPod (I bought the first gen second hand) It always worked on my computer with the 1st gen iPod. So I was wondering, do you think I need to replace my cable in order for my PC to recognize my iPod or is it something else?
    Thanks

Try a different cable. And are you connecting directly to your computer or through a USB hub?

I have checked with ISP, there response is like below:
Those are the NNI to GBNET IPs for Dominican Republic. They are Network IPs. You should be able to ping them-that means they are working.

Here its shows from any of our MPLS site we are able to trace the IP and it seems like, 192.168.20.204/30 is one more site but in actual its not.

  • I had to remove Mavericks and do a reinstall on 10.8.5 but still need help...

I have been trying to undo my Mavericks upgrade in October and after considerable effort I am mostly got back to 10.8.5 OS but still need a bit of help. I just want the previous OS back in place then I'll try Mavericks soon....
    1)               I never seem to pay attention so is 10.8.5 the last OSX prior?  As long as it isn't Mavericks, I want to get it installed.
    2)               I had to reformat my iMac so I have a residual elements from 10.9 and one issue that I had before was permissions. Every number of files either on other hard drives or sometimes in my same user folder was asking for permission and authentication to simply move a file.. A popular one you'll see at the bottom the person/whatever/ problem known as fetching.  Could someone just give me the general reason of this fetching and permissions problem that I ran into?  Better yet since I just want to avoid it altogether into the future tell me what's the best way to assure it disappears forever.
    3)          Another, which is kind of a big ticket item for me is the backup/restore/cover your (!!!) system. I was a good little iMac User and had Time Machine backed up for a period prior to the Mavericks install. I'm a little bit upset that TM isn't 100%....but what is...?  I need another backup/restore system in place and that's what I am looking for recommendations on.  An item that saved me a bit was that I had OS 10.8.3 on an external hard drive.  The problem with that one was it was on a partition, on one of the drives requiring to be reformatted.  It worked as a bridge consolidating files and all but was a big headache as a partition on the external. Recovery Disk did it's part but wasn't enough as well.   Is there a simple/easy idea...clone, disk images, boot from an external drive… ?
    4)          iPhoto (9.4.3) currently will not open the libraries which iPhoto (9.5) converted. Is there way to go back?  Seems the App Store and Software update don't like something. I'm getting into a loop with App Store, iPhoto and the OS. Either the software needs operating system ... then the App Store says it's incompatible or some other complaint.  Right now I have 9.4.3 iPhoto installed for OSX 10.8.5 and was only able to create a new library and the converted ones currently do not open.
    Thanks to your help

10.8.5 is the lates ML edition.  I use TM and also carbon copy cloner as my second backup.  If I were you and you have a TM backup prior to Mavericks I would try another restore at bootup.  You should erase your drive first in that process using disk utitlites and then use TM to put back you apps and files.  The other choice is to do an internet recovery and then use TM to restore your apps and files.  That should fix the permissions issue.  I did the same thing and all was OK including getting my original iPhoto progam (9.4.3), iphoto11 and photos back.
