No update on os x 10.6.8 available

my os is 10.6.8, because I had to format my HD while installing with the old Lion CD - Ican't go to 10.7.1. or to 10.7.2 or to 10.7.3 because the system says: You have to have 10.7 In the apple -store is only 10.7.1 available but not 10.7
When I ask my system for automatic update there is always the answer: your system is ok, but the check in the apple-button says: 10.6.8 and not 10.7.3
Sorry for my bad english, and thanks for your help

OS X 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard) is the latest version. To install the latest OS - OS X 10.7 (Lion) is a paid for upgrade, not an update. It is available as a download from the Mac Apple Store. When you download it should be the latest version, 10.7.3. If it is a version number less than that it will be a free update via Software Update.

Hello I have a iPhone 4 that's never been updated and I see there are three available, Should I just go with the most recent update ?

You don't get a choice. If you decide to update, your phone will be updated to the latest iOS version available for your phone. For you, that's iOS 7.0.4.
Make sure you follow the directions here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4972
The update to iOS 5.0 & higher is an erase/restore deal.

  • App Update Failed then App Store Says Not Available

I just attempted to update my iMac with the latest versions of Safari, iPhoto, Aperture, etc.
The files downloaded but the installation then failed.
I have checked the version number of all the affected Apps and confirmed that they did not update (e.g. Safari is v6.0.1, not v6.0.2).
When I return to the App Store, however, it says no updates available.
I found in a CNet article (http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-13727_7-57530446-263/fix-corrupt-mac-app-store-down loads/) a recommendation to delete the cache so that the App Store updates reset. I have tried this but the App Store still shows 'No Updates Available'.
I know I can use the Apple download site to obtain some of the updates, but not all of them are available there e.g. Safari.
    Any suggestions?

Just in case anyone arrives here with a similar issue, I wanted to post that the problem has fixed itself. When I relaunched the App Store one day after encountering the issue, the Updates had reappeared.
I was able to successfully download and install them.
Clearly there is a time lag before the Updates reset after a failed download or install.  I am sure there is a file that can be deleted or edited to accelerate this, but I have not yet found it...

  • ITunes tells me to upgrade to iTunes 12, but my iMac software updates tell me there's no upgrade available?

iTunes tells me to upgrade to iTunes 12, but my iMac software updates tell me there's no upgrade available?

Thanks for the reply. I'm on an iMac running OSX 10.8.5 -- but I don't think that iTunes was ever removed from the Applications folder … and so I'm not clear on whether I should pull it out of the folder and then transfer it back in. Essentially within iTunes I am prompted to download the upgrade, but when I accept it kicks me over to my Software Updates menu on the iMac, where I am told "No updates available."

Not sure how I got in AppleWorks. I was having slow internet issues as well. I checked the apps later, and they were able to update.

  • Software updates sometimes do not install. I have two software updates that I continually show up as available to install. When I click on the install button it changes to installed. Checked About this Mac shows that the updates have not installed.

    What are the updates?

    Try Reset iPad
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
Note: Data will not be affected.

  • Hey guys, Just want to know if i can jump from osx 10.5.8 straight to 10.6.4? Is there an update in between ? All i see available to purchase from apple is osx 10.6 (there is no third number)

Hey guys, Just want to know if i can jump from osx 10.5.8 straight to 10.6.4? Is there an update in between ? All i see available to purchase from apple is osx 10.6 (there is no third number) but yet i saw a guy online selling snow leopard 10.6.3 so it left me wondering if i would need to purchase two upgrades as oppose to one!
    Cheers

Updates from 10.x.0 to 10.x.last are traditionally free, and are available via Software Update.
The version upgrades from 10.x to 10.y will traditionally cost you some money.
Make sure your Mac meets the requirements for 10.6 — if you're on PPC, you cannot upgrade to 10.6.  (For reference, here are the Lion 10.7 system requirements.  The 10.7 upgrade requires 10.6.6 or later, and can be purchased by calling Apple directly and acquiring a download code, if it doesn't show up in the Mac App Store for you automatically.  I don't think your hardware would be supported with 10.8, if you're presently running 10.5.)
In any case, you can purchase an official Apple Snow Leopard 10.6 DVD disk for US$20.
Back up your system before installing the new software.
Once you install 10.6, you'll run software update and the 10.6.8 combo update will be downloaded and installed for you.  That's free.  10.6.8 allows you to use your trackpad, as well as access the Mac App Store and some other tools; it's the most recent version of 10.6.

  • Software Update Server, clients report "no new software available"

I have been running Software Update Service on my 10.5.8 (9L30) Xserve for a short time without any problems, updating about twenty 10.5.8 clients on the local network.
Recently the clients started reporting "no new software available" when running software update (GUI or command line), but updates were available on the Xserve:
    # defaults write com.apple.SoftwareUpdate CatalogURL http://myserve.mydomain:8088/
    # defaults write /Library/Preferences/com.apple.SoftwareUpdate CatalogURL http://myserve.mydomain:8088/
    # softwareupdate --list
    Software Update Tool
    Copyright 2002-2007 Apple
    No new software available.
When pointing the clients back to apple for updates, the update is available:
    # defaults delete /Library/Preferences/com.apple.SoftwareUpdate CatalogURL
    # softwareupdate --list
    Software Update Tool
    Copyright 2002-2007 Apple
Software Update found the following new or updated software:
    * iTunesX-9.0.1
    iTunes (9.0.1), 87690K [recommended]
Clients can connect to port 8080 on the server, and the iTunes update has been downloaded to the server and is visible on the file system:
    # "curl -s http://myserve.mydomain:8088/index.sucatalog iTunesX.tar
    http://myserve:8088/content/downloads/05/47/061-7190/xP7dtwZz6YGXLHFHcxVT7CnV6mR dq6RnVY/iTunesX.tar"

The /var/root/Library/Caches/com.apple.SoftwareUpdate/Cache.db is extremely sparse after running the software update against the local Xserve:

None of the XML data seen in the Cache.db file after running against Apple's update server is present.
Note, I did multi-home this server fairly recently to add an internal website on a different IP/URL, but I don't think that should have effected the SUS service, which is still available at the original IP/port. I am a Unix/Linux admin by training, so some of the OS X idiosyncrasies are still new to me, and I may not be aware of certain tools/commands that may be helpful in diagnosing this problem.
Thanks for your help in advance,
    -Tom

Apologies for responding to my own post, but I believe I have found the issue and am replying with a solution for the benefit of others.
Upon reviewing my original post, I noticed that the curl request for the index.sucatalog was returning XML contents with URLs defined with only the hostname, not the FQDN, even though the CatalogURL was specified with a FQDN.
    # curl -s http://myhostname.mydomain:8088/index.sucatalog | grep iTunesX.tar
    <string>http://myhostname:8088/content/downloads/05/47/061-7190/xP7dtwZz6YGXLHFHcxVT7CnV 6mRdq6RnVY/iTunesX.tar</string>
This change in URL may have arisen when multi-homing my Xserve for some reason. In my case, specifying the search domain field on the clients seems to have fixed the problem as the simple hostname in the URLs are now able to resolve without the domain.

I tried to update my husbands iphone 4 to ios 6 from ios 4.3.3  That is the only update that showed up on itunes as an availiable update.  The download took 3 hrs and after all of that the phone is the same showing no sign of being updated.  We did turn it off and back on and still nothing.  Can anyone please help and tell me what I need to do to update his phone.  He is unable to update or downloaded apps or anything off of itunes at this point.
    Thank you,
    Tammy

So what happened to the phone during the process?  It should have gone black and restarted a couple of times and there would have been a white progress bar as the update installed.  Sounds to me like you've downloaded the update file but not actually installed it.  The quickest way to see version of the software is installed is to go to Settings-General-About and check Version.

I am a Macbook user Lion OS X 10.7.5 …have been using Target, Walgreens, Shutterfly, etc. for 5 years with photo developing.  Recently cannot use any of these photo websites because of the "Plug In Failure" error..which I have never had.  Have updated adobe flash player..still to no avail.  Suggestions?  Thank you.

You need to do a "clean install": http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1267823
That'll remove the old plug-in completely.
    Works 99% of the time.

  • I run 10.5.8 software on my macbook, when i run a software update, it says no new software is available, and i am up to date. How do i fix this? As i need to update to 10.7. Thanks!

Because it says there are no new updates available, i cannot update my mac to newer software - as such, i then cannot update my itunes, and now cannot sink my iphone 5 to my computer
when i download sofware updates (like mountain lion, and itunes 10.7) direct to my computer, it says - cannot install as this update requires software 10.6.8.. but i cannot update to that software!
    Any help would be great..
    thanks!

Phone the online Apple Store and order a Mac OS X 10.6 DVD.

  • After the last firefox updates I can not play videos in the browser. I have updated the plug-ins all to no avail

I have tried running the videos on the BBC website and they time out after 20 sec. with the message "The content doesn't seem to be working. Try again later" all plugins are up to date, and the cookies are not barred
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
    == after last update

Videos from all three sites play fine for me (except the ones from tfl.fr that are only available if you are in France), so something is not quite right with your system. However bear in mind that some of them take a while to load.
The latest version of Adobe FlashPlayer can be obtained from here:
    http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1ProdVersion=ShockwaveFlash
(You can check here: http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/ to see which version you should install for your Mac and OS.
You should first uninstall any previous version of Flash Player, using the uninstaller from here (make sure you use the correct one!):
    http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_14157
and also that you follow the instructions closely, such as closing ALL applications first before installing. You must also carry out a permission repair after installing anything from Adobe.
You should also ensure that you have downloaded and installed the correct version for your Mac of Security Update 2009-001 (and for Tiger only, 2009-002 and 003). (N.B. Security Updates require both a restart and a permission repair.)
You should also install Perian from http://perian.org/
You should read this support page http://perian.org/#support in case you need to delete older codecs.
In Macintosh HD/Library/Quicktime/ delete any files relating to DivX (Perian already has them). However it should be noted that Perian is not an internet plugin and will not play DivX files imbedded on a website. For that you will need the DivX Player browser plugin available from http://www.divx.com/divx/mac/
Now go to Safari Preferences/Security, and tick the boxes under Web Content (all 4 of them) to enable Java.
Lastly, repair permissions and restart your Mac.
