No Updates (at all) for Lumia 710?

Hi,
I recently aquired a brand new Nokia Lumia 710 through a Microsoft competition. I've yet to register the phone with any carriers (therefore no sim) because I want to see if I should use it over my other phone. The problem I'm having is that I'm stuck on older software, and there is no updates available, at all.
I've found out that 7.8 has been stopped due to bugs and stuff, so I understand that. The thing is, I can't even get updates that *should* be allowing me to use things like mobile hotspots, and some better camera software.
My current firmware is: 1600.3013.8107.11502
From my understanding there are quite a few updates that I need to catch up on, but I can't get any of them. And since Nokia decides not to have a customer support page, I can't really ask them (I might be mistaken though, if you've got a link to their customer support for the 710, that'd be awesome).
If you've got any tips, I'll take em.

For some reason they decided to more or less hide the contact information.
You can contact them by phone or chat usually, have the 710 IMEI available when you do conatct them as you'll need it.

Nokia has yet to give a specific date for the 7.8 update for any country yet. It's expected to be available before the end of the year.
Keep checking Nokia's official blog for more info and make sure that your phone is set to notify you of new updates.

Where to buy Nokia Xpress-on cover for Lumia 710 ?

Does anyone know where I can buy Nokia Xpress-on cover for Lumia 710 in Australia? Or anywhere overseas that will ship to Australia. Nokia lists them on their website but not how/where to purchase.
I notice customers in the U.S. are getting free covers. Is this going to be available to other countries???

I emailed Nokia NZ about the covers, they said they'd get back to me... 2 months still waiting and yes a new cover would be cool. Mines too black, always getting lost.
Yellow would be awesome. Perhaps they'll extend the cover offer to the rest of the world one day

Hi all!
Good news! We have brought forward the software update schedule for our Nokia Lumia 710, and have begun rolling out the latest update 1600.3015.8107.12070 to India and Singapore. We will add more countries and variants to the rollout based on market requests.
The new Lumia 710 update brings the following enhancements:
• Smoother device performance (when ending a call) as well as
• other minor performance and usability improvements
As soon as the update is available for you, your phone will display a notification on your Homescreen or you can check for available updates manually by going to Settings > phone update. To update your phone, please follow those 4 steps:
1.   Install the Zune software (Windows) or Windows Phone 7 Connector (Mac OS) on your computer. You'll need this software to download the phone update.
2.   Connect your phone to your computer, using the USB cable that came with your phone.
3.   If the Zune software or Windows Phone 7 Connector for Mac doesn't start automatically when you connect your phone, start it manually.
4.   In the Zune software, click Update Now (in Windows Phone 7 Connector for Mac, click Install Updates). Make sure you keep your phone connected to your computer until you see a notification that the update is complete.

Well La Dee Dah Yvonne . . . I got news for you . . . 3 different nokia employess at 3 different times and days told me that they have no idea when a new update will be out. Infact one of them went so far as to tell me to sell of my phone and buy a new one if i'm not happy with it and guess what . . . Thats EXACTLY what i did. I had 2 Nokia Lumia 710's. A black one for myself and a white one for my wife. Well so taking your Nokia Employees enlightened advice I went and bought a black Samsung Galaxy S II for myself and a white one for my wife . . . And trust me when i say this but i'm going to go around telling anyone who cares to listen how Nokia cheated a custome who's been loyal to them for the last 22 YEARS. Silent mode for lumia 710

Is there a silent mode in the lumia 710 that cuts out ALL sounds including gaming and all notifications.
I can see by the instruction manual where to change this, and it also says silent, but there is only ring and viabrate, or viabrate only. This does not turn off all sounds including gaming and notifications. I unticked all boxes under sounds, however I still get live update sounds. There should be a silent mode but I cannot see it.
Has anyone else found where this is.

When you switch silent mode on, all ringtones and alert tones are muted. Use this when you are, for example, at the cinema or in a meeting.
Press a volume key to see the volume status bar, then select ring . Silent mode is switched on. If you have set your phone to vibrate, vibrate mode is switched on instead of silent mode.
Set your phone to vibrate
Select > and ringtones+sounds, and switch Vibrate to On .

Firmware update 1308.0001 for lumia 620 rollout

i would like to know what the regional distribution order is for lumia firmware updates. I have a lumia 620 from hongkong and i live in australia. no update so far . and i make sure to check like twice a day
has anyone in australia or in any other region received the 1308.001, or the latest ones for the 820 and 920 that are supposed to come in the same rollout ? they have all been anounced mid-march.
an official statement about this would be great as well.

What was announced was that the now shipping (from manufacturing) devices have the new firmware and an OTA update would start at a future date. Since there have been no further announcements it would be safe to assume the OTA update has not started yet.
There is no need to 'check multiple times a day' you will get a notification on the phone when the update becomes available to you.

Why repeated sign in is required for lumia 710 to ...

Every time i need to sign in for downloading music on my lumia 710.Eventhough i sign in n searched the music again the log in window comes up to which repeated attempts go in vain as it doesnt accept the passwd.My id has unlimited music subscription fail to understand y this happens....Pls come up with solution

Welcome to the forum!
You can do the following steps:
1. Uninstall the Nokia Music application. Tap and hold the application > select Uninstall to remove it.
2. Switch off and on the phone.
3. Download the Nokia Music again from the Store or Marketplace.
4. Sign in to your Nokia account.
If it's still the same, check if there's an available update for the Nokia Music application. Go to Store or Marketplace > Nokia collection > select Nokia Music > check if there's an available update.

Battery app for Lumia 710

Hello everyone, I hope you can help me with a problem I am having.
I own a Nokia Lumia 710 handset, originally on Vodafone, now unlocked. I am trying to find a battery app for the phone, but I am having no luck whatsoever.t I want a simple app that will put the battery percentage on the front screen, with just a battery icon and a percentage total, to say that I have, say, 25% battery left. I know there is a battery option in the settiings menu, but I don't want to hunt it out, I want it right there in front of me, where I can see it immediately. I have looked on the Marketplace, but I cannot find an app of this kind. Does such an app exist?

This may not be possible due to restrictions within the OS itself not allowing access to that

Drained Battery for Lumia 710

the battery of my Lumia 710 got drained last night for 3hrs then when i connected it to the charger, still it didnt charge.. it's just vibrating once in a while but it doesnt show it's charging already.. til now i can't open it.. i need your help guys

Have you tried removing the battery for a few minutes then re-insert the battery and try charging from the mains?

Mugen 1500mAh battery for Lumia 710

Has anybody here purchased a Mugen 1500mAh battery for the Lumia 710 and felt a noticeable improvement in the battery life?
I am loving the Lumia 710! Be good to get a bit more battery life out of it though.

Earlier I was using nokia E63 which has 1500mAH ....i inserted that in Nokia lumia 710 & 12-15% more battery life enhanced.
Bcoz thr is not much difference between 1300mAh & 1500mAh....but you can do this,quite good !!!!
