No updates received for 5800 xpressmusic

Many of 5800 xpressmusic phones hav received the latest update 60.0.003. But still i havn't received one. I tried checking through software updater from laptop but it says no updates available. When will i receive it? Or is there any other way to download it?

Did you also check if its available thru' FOTA ? Dial *#0000# then under Options check for updates.. Some Product Codes got the Firmware update only this way..so pl. check.
..Else, wait till one is released for your Device.

I'm searching a compatible FM Transmitter for the Nokia 5800 Xpressmusic.
I only found the CA-300, but the 5800 is not in the list of the compatible mobile phones.
Does anyone know one? Very important :-)

another option is to use the Belkin FM transmitters that are often used for iPods. i had one before, the Tunecast 2 and it worked pretty good and made awesome beeping sounds reminiscent of the taxi cab meter sounds . they're pretty reliable and good quality, and always an option if you cannot purchase the official Nokia accessory in your country.

Unable to update my nokia 5800 XpressMusic

Hi,
have nikia 5800 XpresMusic and I have 2 problem.
1) firmware of my nokia is version10 and I can't able to update my fireware via PC suite. I attach the snapshot of error occur during the update.(141M online with pc suite).
2) when I switch of and then switch on the time and date reset and phone requested to set time and date.
P.S- I thik it have problem on bachup battery.

First off, you will get few answers here because you posted in the wrong section. This section is for music player problems. This post should go to Software Updates.
To answer your questions
1. Most likely PC settings are at fault. For example AVs and Firewall blocking the internet connection from NSU to Nokia Servers. I do not know your AV product, but most are known to do this if the AV program is not set up correctly. For some AV programs, like BitDefender, not even turning the program and firewall would help, as you must integrate into the system of the AV to allow NSU to connect. As for now, all I can suggest is to try and turn off your AV and firewall.
2. The resetting of the date and time everytime you switch off likely is caused by having a dead auxillary battery on the phone. You need to get this replaced in a Nokia Care Center. Or you could just set time and date to auto-update so that the phone will follow your network's clock and calendar when ever you turn it on.

S60 apps sorely missing for 5800 xpressMUSIC

In general, I'm VERY happy with my 5800xm.. however,
it seems to me (and others) that nokia are missing a trick with their MUSIC phone when it comes to S60 apps
where are?:
* internet radio
* upnp client (Home Media application)
I dont know how symbian development works but is it that the front end of these apps have yet to developed for touch screen users?
also missing Windows Live (not messenger but email and messenger client)
Will nokia develop these for n97 first and then release to humble 5800xm users?

We might be missing Windows Live on 5800 for messenger and email service, we can go for alternatives as follows:
i) Fring - one stop IM application to access to MSN, YM, Skype, Gtalk and other sip services too
ii) Nimbuzz - similar to fring with different interface
as for email service, try the following:
i) S60 native email client in Messaging folder
ii) Nokia Messaging - support for major email accounts (yahoo, hotmail, gmail etc)

NSU update problem for 5800

I am trying to update the firmware of my 5800 thru NSU but it gives a constant error since 15 days , "sorry the nokia software updater service is currently unavailable,please try again later"
I have switched of my firewall and security prog,still no change...does it have a file missing or something ?

Problems with OVI Maps 3.4 for 5800 XpressMusic

I downloaded Ovi Maps 3.4 on my 5800 and now every time I try to start using maps, the screen goes dim and the phone restarts itself. What I have to do to solve this problem?
I was using the version 3.3 and the navigation was working perfect.

When you upgrade to OVI Maps v3.04 it adds an additional positioning method "Wi-Fi/Network which can cause issues for some users, so try disabling it. Go to Menu > Applications > Location > Positioning > Positioning methods.

Update Nokia 5800 XpressMusic software

Hello,
I update my Nokia 5800 XpressMusic through Nokia Suite on my personal computer.
Step 1. Get Started and Step 2. Back up was successfully done. On Step 3. Install, I follow the instructions. Then my phone screen turns white. Then the logo of Nokia and its version was displayed on the screen. Then it shut-down/turned OFF by itself. A message on my Nokia Suite(on my PC) says "Your phone is restarting" and an instructions below says "Take a look at your phone. If it asks you for your PIN code, time and date, or your Nokia account details, type them on your phone. You may also need to choose the Nokia Suite (or Nokia Ovi Suite, or PC Suite) USB mode on your phone. Then wait for the installation to continue.".. So I wait. Then a follow up message show that says "If your phone does not restart, remove and re-insert the battery, charger, and the USB cable. Then switch the phone on.".
So I follow the instruction. I removed and re-insert the battery, charger, and the usb cable. Then I switch the phone on. BUT the problem is.. it doesn't turn ON. Still off. When I long-press the POWER button, it vibrates but it doesn't continue to turn ON. I hear continues pop-up sound on my PC when the USB cable was connected. But still nothing happens.
Your immediate advice is highly appreciated on this matter. Thanks in advance.

Problem updating Nokia 5800 XpressMusic

Hello,
First excuse me for my bad English.
I have just updated my Nokia 5800 XpressMusic with the USB cable and plugged into the mains. At the end of the update, a window told me that I could unplug my phone and nothing more since it does not turn over: just a vibration but no screen display. I removed the battery and did another test and still nothing. Is there a solution or should I return it to the VAS.

Hi, Did the phone complete the hard reset? I.e. after the phone is completely started up, it prompts for a country selection? To do the reset, the phone must be turned off first, then hold the relative buttons together / simultaneously while turning on, until prompted for the country selection.
If you managed to complete the hard reset, and your problem is still occurring, then please keep me updated as to how you resolved it, just incase I need to also try it

5800 XpressMusic - V 50.0.005 - Unable to see all ...

I recently updated my phone 5800 XpressMusic to latest firmware V 50.0.005 (Customer Version 50.0.005.C03.01) but I am unable to see many changes. The only changes that I notice are - kinetic scrolling, change in the way browser displays the page and music library. Are these the only changes? Is there a way to check officially, what all changes, is this new firmware supposed to bring in?

Availability of V60.0.0.3 Firmware for 5800 Xpress...

I have a 5800 XpressMusic Phone with Prodcode: RM356 , i live in Singapore. It seems to me that the V60.0.0.3 Firmware for 5800 XpressMusic is not available either FOTA or OVI SUITE or NOKIA SOFTWARE UPDATER or NOKIA SUITE. I have visited all Nokia sites and it seems that all the Nokia sites, even the europe one mention v52.0.0.7 as the latest firmware version for 5800? This is obviously not true, it seems that Nokia is not updating their database? And has anyone with my prod code be able to obtain an update?
From a sad guy...

1st we have to thank Nokia, cos they've released major update for their 3 years old device. But still i haven't got previous update (v52). Hope will get this one at least. (my phone is german country variant blue)

I have recently upgraded the firmware on the 5800 to it's current version, (v52) I would like to upgrade it to v60 but everytime I try and update it, it comes back and says 'No Updates Available'.
I have read that v60 may not have been released for my version / region. Is there a way I can confirm this?

As you have stated.. the phone is locked to Orange - UK.. You will be able to update only when Orange - UK will approve of that..Since when are you having this phone ? You may contact the Operator in this regard and point out that its almost 2 years old version.. Good if they agree to do that....
