No USB headphone Capabiity with Audigy 1 PLatin

When I built my present PC a year ago I avoided buying a Creative Labs sound card because, in the past, I found that there was always SOMETHING that was problematic.
So I had been using my onboard sound chip on my mobo, using $200 USB headphones, with absolutely NO problems.
Yesterday, I was at Circuit City and, impulsi'vely, I decided to buy the Audigy 2 ZS Platinum package ($99). After installing it I have realized that Audigy does NOT support USB headphones.
This is simply ridiculous.
Why doesn't Creative put a WARNING-ADVISORY label on the packaging to inform consumers that its products do not support USB headphones?
Now, I have to choose.
Do I go out and buy archaic 2-plug headphones, or do I return the Audigy product.
Unless there's something that I'm overlooking and someone can help me here, I think that my Audigy's days are numbered.
Thanks in advance.
JB

burnsdh,
Just in case you did not read those reply from Jeremy in another one of your post. The USB headset work independently and it's not linked with the Audigy 2 ZS sound card. USB headset is basically an individual USB sound card.

  • Headphone Problems with Audigy 2

I am having significant problems with a Logitech USB headset and my Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS. I have all the latest updates and drivers, but my headset has a 'swooshing' sound when plugged in.
My view is that the soundcard is not recognising the headset audio correctly and doesn't assign the sound to the channels properly. I have tried manually changing this in the control panel, but no change.
I have uninstalled the hardware, and software (nightmare!) and now the 'Creative Volume Control' doesn't even work, right or double-left click.
In short when the headset is out, the card seems to perform correctly. Additionally, I have removed the USB Audio Device from the PC, and then re-installed it, but again didn't work.
Any advice would be really appreciated...

  • Audigy 2 ZS sound from USB headphones but none from speakers

<Audigy 2 ZS sound from USB headphones but none from speakersw Hello everyone. Lately my computer has been acting up a bit (HP xw6200 workstation) and I updated the graphics and sound drivers to fix the issues with crashing. I first tried to update the audio drivers from the Creative support website but when the installation was finished and the computer restarted there was no longer any sound and all of the volume controls stopped working (sliders, buttons, checkboxes, etc. turned gray). I tried a couple more times to uninstall, then reinstall the driver but it still didn't work. Finally I went to the HP support website and downloaded the audio driver from there and installed it. Now the volume controls work again and when I plug in my Logitech USB headset I can hear sound just fine but when they are unplugged and I try to use my desktop speakers there is no sound at all. I played around with the volume controls, made sure the device and output was correct, and plugged the green output cable to the speakers in all of the sockets I could find while playing a song on Windows Media but it still doesn't work. Anybody have an idea of what might be going on and how to fix it's

@? OK another update (sorry I know I'm posting a lot). I downloaded and installed a different driver from the Creative support site and I now finally have sound in my speakers again. BUT the original problem I was having came back. Whenever I play a game (lately it's been Warcraft III) that seems to have more advanced 3D sound (more than, say, a web video on YouTube) the screen will all of a sudden turn some really weird pattern, the sound will stop, and the entire computer freezes; I then have to manually shut down (with the power button), wait a few seconds, then reboot. I thought this was a graphics issue so I downloaded and installed the latest driver for my video card (nVidia Quadro FX) which didn't help. Now I think it might be a sound card issue (or maybe motherboard?) because this problem doesn't happen when I use my USB headphones to play games. Might my sound card be dying or "breaking" somehow?

  • HP ENVY 6t has many issues with USB headphone, Bluetooth and more serious issue

HP ENVY 6t doesn't work with USB headphone, unfortunately. could u let me know how to fix it?
Bluetooth mouse has been working for a day, it suddenly stopped working. Having checked the PC bluetooth connection, which said "Working properly".   Could you let me know how to re-connect, or re-work?
"Not complete shut-down" blue screen issue right after receiving the HP PC when I closed display to be in sleep mode.
I see the "Safe mode" "...." or "Normal mode" screen always.
The HP PC is not stable UNFORTUNATELY.
Even if just brand new HP PC, there seems to be many issues.

I would recommend using this document for your mouse: http://goo.gl/XDRRy
And using this document to troubleshoot your headphones issue: http://goo.gl/hV9fu
Most of the time with USB headphones, you have to download the driver from the manufacturer before they will work properly.

  • Instant crash with USB headphones after Security Update 2007-007 install

    Hi all,
I'm having problems with my Mini after installing the 2007-007 security update. Specifically I get the grey panic screen of death almost immediately after I plug in my Sennheiser USB headphones. It doesn't seem to matter which USB port I plug it into, I get the panic screen immediately. It also appears to happen only on my mac mini, I have a 1st gen. Macbook Pro that is unaffected.
Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this or whether I'll just have to wait for an update to rectify this.

Same exact problem with MacBookPro and usb headphones sennheiser pc35 usb.
The same headphones work flawlessly on a Powerbook G4 15inch 1.67GHz.
    Any suggestions ?

  • Bootcamp 2.0 (released with Leopard) and USB headphones

I've been a happy bootcamp user since the 1.2 beta - mainly for Windows gaming on my Mac Pro. I have a set of USB headphones w/ mic from Altec Lansing. They have a USB adapter that two mini-stereo plugs (for audio and mic) plug into. With bootcamp 1.2 through 1.4 betas when I plugged the USB adapter in, sound stopped coming from my desk speakers and started coming out of headphones. When I unplugged it, sound switched back to desk speakers. It worked great!
Not so much with bootcamp 2.0 that comes with Leopard (10.5). I cannot figure out how to get sound to switch to headphones in Windows now. I plug them in - and sound keeps coming from desk speakers.
Bootcamp is running Windows XP SP2 with all updates applied. Yes, I have installed the bootcamp drivers that come with Leopard (I'm thinking that's what hosed me).
    Any suggestions appreciated.

    Hi Bob,
Yes, this info got burried.  Basically, it's a tool for building LabVIEW-based software products.  It is highly flexible/extensible and tries to fill the holes left by LabVIEW's built-in Application Builder.  Here are some good links to more info:

  • OS X freezes (sometimes) when plugging in my USB headphones

I have USB headphones and a MacBook Pro. If I plug in my USB headphones into my MacBook Pro for the first time since the laptop has started up, then chances are that OS X will freeze, and then I force a shutdown and a restart.
Once the laptop is back up, then I can safely plug in my USB headphones and not have a freeze again.
Can someone tell me why this happens? It's a fairly regular occurrence and happens as I explain above; during the time that I plug the headphones in, I am not usually doing anything process-intensive on my computer.
    Help please!
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi GaryKing,
    Thanks for your answer.
As far as I know your headphones are not working as expected, why don't you try to install a driver?. I have to work with quite a few different type of printers and MFD, those might work or not depending on the driver you have installed on your MAC for them, you always can use the postscript driver that comes built-in on Mac OS X for your printers/MFD/Headphones or whatever you have attached on your Mac but it doesn't mean the device is going to work with all the potential.
I would like to know, if you don't mind, if the headphones work with the original drivers.

  • 10.6.2 USB headphones problem  + puzzling Audio Midi Setup workaround

After updating to 10.6.2, my Logitech USB headphones started behaving strangely -- on two separate machines (a 2006 MacBook and a 2009 Mac Pro), so it's not a fault with the computer.
    Symptoms:
    1. no sound in Skype
    2. no sound in YouTube
    3. sound, but low volume levels in iTunes when volume is at highest setting
Audio output from the headphone jack and internal speaker remained normal, with no problems.
I knew enough to fiddle with Audio Midi Setup, and discovered the following. The problems described above remained whenever the volume controls for channels 1 and 2 were equal.
The minute the volume controls were set to different levels for the two channels, sound reappeared -- and the greater the disparity, the louder the overall volume coming to both ears. For example setting channel 1 to 0.83 value/-1.00 dB and channel 2 to 1.00 value/3.00 dB produces an adequate volume level overall (though I suppose it is coming at the cost of an actual inequality between the two stereo channels).
Am I correct to assume that I have uncovered a bug here? I had no such problems before 10.6.1.
Unfortunately, I don't have a second pair of USB headphones to test whether that makes a difference.

Update to my own message: It's not necessary to go to Audio Midi Setup to see the effect. In the Sound preference pane as well, setting the balance dead center causes the sound to go to zero, but unbalancing it in favor of either the left or right brings the sound back -- the more unbalanced, the louder.
Furthermore, the balance control does not actually reduce the volume to either ear when moved to the left or the right. That is, with balance all the way to the left, I get louder volume...out of both ears.
No such problem when playing through the regular headphone jack.

  • USB Headphones, sound distortion in iTunes

    Hi,
I recently purchased a set of Logitech ClearChat Pro USB Headphones. They do have a specific driver, and are automatically installed when you plug them in. I run 32 Windows Vista.
The sound when listening to music or video through iTunes crackles and pops some. Listening to the same files in Windows Media Player yield no such distortion. I imagine it must have something to do with an audio codec or some quicktime setting, but I am not good enough to know where to start messing around.
    Any ideas?
    Thank you,
    Andy

    Hi,
I have same problem with my iTunes 6.
You can try this(Helps for me):
    1. From the Start menu, select Settings and open the Control Panel
    2. Double-click the Multimedia or Sound, Speech & Audio devices icon,
    3. Select Sound and Audio Devices, click the Advanced Audio button
    4. Select the Advanced tab then
    5. Select the Performance tab and find the Hardware Acceleration slider control
hardware acceleration should be set at full.
sample rate conversion quality should be set at best.

  • USB Headphones Not Always Picking Up Audio

I have Logitech USB headphones that I use with Rosetta Stone. They work just fine. They will also work if I'm watching a video that's on my computer (using the Apple "DVD Player") or when listening to iTunes.
However, they don't work for any audio that streams via the internet. For example, on websites like Hulu or if watching a video on NBC.com it won't play the audio thru the headphones. If I unplug the headphones it will play thru the MacBook's internal speakers. If I plug the headphones it it will mute the internal speakers, but no sound comes thru the headphones.
    Any ideas on this?

    Hi--
Thanks for responding. The USB Headset is set in system preferences for both input and output.
I went into Utilities-->Audio MIDI Setup. The USB headphones had all 3 icons next to it (finder, speaker, and microphone).
Not sure if this problem is related, but I also have a Bluetooth headset. Similar problem, works with iTunes and DVD player, but not with sound via Safari or Firefox. It has an additional problem, where my USB headset will work with Rosetta Stone, it won't respond with either audio or the microphone.
It's possible the browsers are hard wired to the Macs internal sound...
Nope, wrong, I just tried is using my RME audio interface, Firefox played a youtube video through whatever audio device I had set as default audio.
Sounds like Snow Leopard has a different Audio MIDI setup than Leopard. Under Audio MIDI setup I have both "Default Output" and "System Output" that I can use to set an audio device.
Depending on the USB device they need to be run as an aggregate device doubtful this will be of any help but you might take a look. This combines the USB audio device with the internal audio device... it's been known to help some programs "see" the USB audio,

Good luck, maybe someone running Snow Leopard could jump in here.

  • No sound using headphones only with FC Express

I've searched and read lots of threads on sound problems with USB headsets and 10.4.x but as yet have found no solution.
First I should point out that ALL software including the OS environment works OK with the headset, even if sometimes I have to go to prefs/audio and select and deselect the mute button to get them working. However, with Final Cut Express even this doesn't work.
I hear sound through the external/internal speakers with or without the headphones (USB) plugged in. I have tried front and rear USB sockets and on the keyboard which is where they normally work with everything else.
I am merely trying to play clips from the timeline, but would prefer to use headphones and not the internal speakers.
Final Cut Express HD 3.5 - My settings under view/video output is set to Canvas Playback.
Buying another set with audio jack is not an option that I like. These work fine for everything else so why not with FCE?
Is there anything else I should know or settings I should make? Anyone found a solution yet?
    Many thanks

OK, I retract the comment about USB being the "norm"... but not the request to Apple to add USB headphones as an alternative because more and more people are using them.
At least this shows people are reading the thread
Thanks for all your feedback, I'll mark the question as answered.

  • No sound through the USB headphones

When I plug in my USB headphones, I get no sound until I go to the Sound panel in System Preferences, go to Output, highlight the headphones, and then turn "mute" off and on at the bottom of the preference box. After that the sound works fine, until I either unplug the headphones or put the computer either off or to sleep.
I am using Logitech headphones (350) but I'm not sure if the headphones are the problem.
I really can't tell if this is a hardware or software problem.
    Thanks,
    Reed

    Hi Templeton,
But the problem is not merely a switch to the default setting:
    a) even when the computer goes to sleep and wakes up and the headphones remained plugged in, the sound disappears and I have to click and unclick the mute button to make it work. The settings have all remained the same.
    b) the same thing happens with another pair of headphones
    c) it didn't used to do this, the problem started a few weeks ago. (I can't pin it down to any particular upgrade or installation.)

Seems like the sound output to my Logitech USB headphone has stopped. The microphone inputs but the sound output is blocked. Could be technical issue with the set but was wondering of anyone else has this problem after the last update to 10.14.0

  • USB Headphone problem

I have just changed motherboards and on the old motherboard I was running Soundblaster 5.1 no problem with a USB headphone. On the new motherboard I have reinstalled everything just as before but no sound through the headphones no matter what configuration I try. It's driving me nuts! The sound card works OK as it is picking up 'What U Hear' on my Adobe Audition program as before. Anyone had a similar problem with the headphones and if so, what was the solution?
Look forward to hearing from you

Thanks for that but I actually WAS using the soundcard for my USB headphones. Although they are USB they also have connections for soundcard if needed. So my USB headphones, will, do and have gone through my soundcard! Thanks for your help
