No USB Power when PC off

Hi,
I bought a MSI Z77a-g45 some weeks ago and I can't figure how to charge my devices when my computer is off (razer mamba).
I just installed super-charger but it doesn't seem to work for this.
I might have changed some bios settings trying to pursue my goal.
Could I have some help please ?
Thanks !
NB: I'm not a native english speaker :/

So you are telling me that none of the USB ports in the back of the case allow me to charge my mouse when the computer is off ?
I would be surprised :s seems like a poor design, very disapointed.
(Checked on the manual, nothing :s, also the manual does not talk about the "gaming" usb ports which I figured out on the web page).

  • Disable USB power when laptops off (CX61 20D)

Is there a way to fully disable usb power when the laptops off? Its annoying because my mouse has blue lights which are quite bright, i have a unlocked BIOS on the latest version.

    For now I run
    sudo systemctl disable laptop-mode.service
    and changed in /etc/laptop-mode/laptop-mode.conf
    ENABLE_LAPTOP_MODE_TOOLS=0
After rebooting I still have the same issues. Also, even after disabling laptop-mode-tools, the brightness changes after unplugging the laptop, so either the laptop mode wasn't disabled at all, or there is something else 'helping' me with powersaving.
    @brebs
Thank you, but it looks for me more like a workaround than a solution. It could work, but it doesn't tell me what disables my mouse and where is the root of the problem.

  • Why is my ipad still using battery power when switched off & locked away with no one using it?

Why is my IPad still discharging battery when switched off and locked away - with no one using it?  Charged it to 100% on holiday and locked in safe.  2 days later it was at 76%!

How is it "switched off"? Are you pressing the button on the top so the screen goes black? If so, that isn't shut off, but put to sleep. I will still be doing things in the background and using battery power.
To shut it fully off, press and hold the button on top, you will get a notification on the screen that says "Slide to power off". Slide the button and it will turn completly off.
If this is how you switched it off, let us know and we will see what else we can figure out.

  • Zen Micro lose Power when Switched OFF??

    Hello,
I was wondering if anyone else is experiencing the same problem as me. I fully charged my Zen Micro last night and then left it and just switch it on for the first time now (8 hours later), and the battery indicator shows 2 bars left?
Seems like the Zen Micro loses power even when switched off!?!
Can anyone confirm that this is the case and whether I can do anything to stop it from happening? Is this normal with Hard Dri've MP3 player or only with the Zen Micro?
    Thanks.

<EDIT: (April st, 2005):<<FONT color=#330000>JazzMC has taken the initiati've and written a sort of FAQ and put together a website with all the information to date gathered in one place regarding this power drain of the Zen Micro while off (in standby). It's a great read for those who want more information about the subject and probably easier than wading through this thread.<FONT color=#330000>You can view the document by clicking here: <Zen Micro Power Loss<. <FONT color=#330000>Thanks JazzMC!
Ditto here. I did do a disk cleanup last week and the micro seems to be holding it's charge longer now. It's still draining the battery while sitting idle though according to the bar indicator, but slower (go figure?). This is my only real issue with the Zen Micro as I love it otherwise!
One wierd thing I noticed was I charged it full then left it sit for about 3 days (checking it off and on) then on day 3 it was at one bar. So I plugged it into my home sterio and turned it on to see how long it would play for. I was really surprised to see it last a few minutes shy of 9 hours...
Could this be a battery calibration thing instead of it just loosing charge? Like the meter misreads the batteries actual charge over time instead of it loosing power?
Donno it's wacky, please fix Creative!

  • My ibook loses battery power when turned off and unplugged

I have been puzzled by this since November 2006. I calibrated my battery twice as prescribed and still, as soon as i shut down my ibook and unplug it, it's battery charge goes down. Why is this? I'd greatly appreciate help. I'm a former pc user and none of my pc laptops have this problem. I just want to know why my battery loss power when unplugged and turned off. thanks in advance

Well you might want to try what they call "battery reconditioning" which is 7 simple steps listed below:
    1: Charge your iPod fully.
2: Use it till you cant trun it on anymore!
3: Then carge your iPod fully again.
4: Then Use it till you cant trun it on anymore!
5: One more time charge your iPod fully.
6: And then again Use it till you cant trun it on anymore!
7: Then one last time charge it fully again.
Reminder: it is best to let the battery die all of the way each time inbetween chages. for example if it has 60% battery life dont charge it use it till it is dead and then charge it up all the way!
*This should inturn maximise your battey life also!*

  • Ipod uses power when yurned off and hold button

i hav 1st gen ipod nano, the ipod seems to hold a charge when on, yet if i turn it off and put the hold button on it uses power while off, also when i flick the hold button off the i pod turns straight back on and starts playing. Its out of warranty and ive reset it and restored it to factory settings any idea!!!!

and also it takes only a couple of hours for pwer to
    drain when its off
Do you have any clock functions set (alarms, stop watch, timer) or calendar events? These can use up power... Restoring it might be a good idea after you first reset it:
Toggle hold switch, press and hold Menu and Select (center) buttons for at least 6 seconds.

  • K9A platinum and USB power.

So, This Christmas I decided to give my HTPC a M-play 202 plus as a little nice extra feature.
It is a Display module with IR-receiver and remote, and it has the nice feature of Remote power-on. This of course achieved by routing the power-switch cable through it.
But, this of course requires that the M-play 202 has operating power in itself, through USB.
Now, I have 10 computers at home, including a few other MSI-boards, and while some of them do not by default provide USB-power when switched off, all of them either have BIOS-settings or a Motherboard jumperswitch for this. The K9A platinum has neither. The other motherboards that does not show settings for this all have power on USB as default.
So, What am I missing? Where is my USB-power when the computer are switched off?
I can solve this by changing the M-play 202 plus USB-cable from internal type to an external and simply route it through an powered USB2 hub. But this is a very ugly solution.
Anyway, just writing this in hopes that there is something obvious I am missing here that will solve this.
    Best Regards

  • IPod Nano (4th Generation) switches on when connected to USB power - shows Menu & hangs (unresponsive to click wheel) - deems off after 5-sec - Switches off after disconnecting from USB Power - syncs with iTunes - Tried 5R's - Problem still persists

    1. The iPod Nano (4th Generation - 8GB) switches on, only when connected to USB power by showing apple logo and displays Menu options thereafter..
    2. However, I can not access Menu as it is unresponsive to click wheel. As a result it is inaccessible to any further use,
    3. NOTE: it displays "Battery Fully charged" icon on the screen without any "Lock" icon.
    4. After  5-sec to 10-secs the screen deems off.. i.e. goes to sleep mode.. And thereafter would probably remain like that (sleeeping) for eternity!!!!
    5. It Switches off after WITHOUT DISPLAYING any Apple Logo immediately after disconnecting from USB Power.
    6. In other words, it can be switched on only through USB power in spite of battery being fully charged.
    7. Interestingly, it syncs with iTunes. It is recognised in iTunes (Latest version 11+).. Displays on screen all commands Like.. syncronising, connecting, connected,
    8. Allows to add Music, videos like a normal ipod & displays all status information in iTunes.
    9. Read Trobleshooting & Tried all 5R's. Registered, Resetted, updated & Restored to iOS 1.0.2
    10. It is now displaying to select Language in place of Menu options, with no access through click wheel, centre button whatsoever... Problem still persists

  • Power-off USB-port when O.S. restarts

I need to switch-off the power of the USB-ports when system restarts.
I have a device connected to an USB-port and it gets the power from the USB-port.
I need that, when the system restarts (a simple software restart, not a complete reboot), the device is restarted with a power-off/power-on.
I have already tried with "devcon restart *ROOT_HUB*", but the command seams that restarts the software layers not the physical power.

  • HT4101 It says it requires too much power when i connect my usb??

It says it requires too much power when i connect my usb??

Ok. Many USB's trigger the too much power warning. If you have a memory card, try doing it that way. Or you can experiment with other USB sticks. I've literally had a 50/50 success rate with the ones I've tried. You can try another one. Off brands seem to work better, along with smaller ones. The largest I've had work was a 4 gig. Kingston and Sandisk often trigger the too much power warning.
Do you know the naming format to make it work? Have a folder named DCIM in the upper level and make sure that all the photos have a name of exactly 8 characters.

  • Can USB power off ?

    Hello,
Can a USB port be powered-off automaticaly when putting the computer in sleep mode ?
I have a iBook G3 wich I keep cool with a dual-fan stand powered by the USB port. I'd like it to stop when the ibook "falls asleep"...
I couldn't find the answer on the net. Any idea ?

THese things can also be controlled by "drivers" for the device provided by the manufacturer.
As I understand it the Pangea controller in the iBook should send a "USB suspend" command when the computer goes to sleep. A properly "compliant" device should recognise this and put itself to "sleep" too.
It may be that there is a problem with the "driver" of this device (if it has one) or that an update is available from the device manufacturer to enable this.
See http://developer.apple.com/qa/qa2001/qa1121.html for some basic information, but I'd suggest that you get in touch with the manufacturer of the stand to see if they provide any drivers capable of achieving what you want. Of course this would require that the fan system actually interacts with the USB ports data lines (ie it has some sort of built in processor control itself), and isn't simply taking a straight uncontrolled power feed.
    Cheers
