No usefull apps in the Mac App Store?

Why is it not possible to buy real (useful) applications in the Mac App Store?
E.g. I would like to purchase Parallels Desktop or some Adobe products, but then I have to visit store.apple.com and have them shipped to me... this is exactly what an App Store should provide, not a thousand of small irritating useless applications.
Is that to much to ask?
Thanks!

Actually I'm glad developers are not selling out to the AppStore.
First off if you have a problem, Apple and their "india customer support" is terrible to deal with and gets in the way.
If the developer wants to cut you a break and send you a free program they can.
If you want to run software of a nature Apple doesn't like or has conflicts hosting because it conflicts with the companies they have to deal, you can.
If something really nifty comes up and serves a purpose, then there is nothing limiting one from downloading it and installing it. Your not restricted by the laws of one country over others neither.
If you want to transfer a free or open source program to another computer, it's easy, just do it. Modify it if your technically capable and stick with the licensing terms. All AppStore programs are copy protected thus it restricts a lot of "free" "free" and open type software that others create for you to enjoy.
Firefox, VirtualBox, LibreOffice, GIMP and thousands of other free programs, including programs like LittleSnitch, SnapZProX, Handbrake are not ever going to be on the AppStore.
Apple gave you that $100, that you actually paid for really, to pump up their MacApp store numbers so they can try to close the door to a users having a choice of what software they want to run on their very own computer, basically turning them into iPhones and iPads.
Users and developers are not going for it.
Apple is severly demented even trying, but I guess they figure if they can do it, then they can sell less expensive to make, underpowerd netbook processor tablets like the iPad for the same price as a full laptop and people won't know the difference.

  • I want to download the recent Adobe app but it said I had to do it through the Mac app store

I have a rebuilt hard drive for my MacBookPro that recently crashed. Today Adobe wanted me to download a new version. The initial download went well but when I attempted to finalize the download a popup told me I would have to do it through the Mac Apple Store. How do I do this?

Exactly which one of the many Adobe products are you talking about here?

  • Getting Error Code 13 with Mac App Store on OS X Lion

    Hey all,
I just updated my Macbook to Mac OS X Lion. Now whenever I go into Mac App Store, I can log into my Apple ID but cannot redownload any of my previous purchases.
I continue to get the error 13 for any of my downloads. I've tried rebooting my Mac, logging out and back into my Apple ID on the Mac App Store.
    Nothing works. Any idea?

    I figured it out.
I signed up for another Apple ID account within the Mac Apple Store. After completing the validation, I logged into the new account then logged out.
Closed down the Mac App Store and relaunched it. Then I logged in using my original Apple ID with all my purchases linked to it.
I'm now available to download items fine without error. I hope this helps others with the same issue.

  • Mac app store qn

i just bought the Angry Birds S4.99 app on my iPad.
Can i re-use the same account and buy the same app on the Mac App store ?
    Will i still be billed US$4.99 ?
    Thanks.

    Hi and welcome...
    You will be billed twice.
When you purchase the AB app for your iPad, you're purchasing the app for a device run on the iOS operating system.
When you buy the same app from the Mac Apple Store, you will be using that app on your Mac running Mac OS X 10.6.6.
Two different operating systems, two different billings.
But you can install the same app on multiple Macs and iOS devices such as iPads without being re billed.

  • Mac App Store Doesn't Recognize Apps

I have a Macbook Pro which is almost three years old.  Applications like iLife and iWorks were installed on the computer long before there was the Mac Ap Store.  These apps, and others on my computer, do not show up as Instaled in the App Store so I can't update them unless I use the old Software Update or the vendor's site.  I don't want to purchase the apps again but is there any way to "register" these apps so the app store knows they are on my computer?
    Thanks,
    David

I have iLife 11 that I purchased on disk that is installed, but the App store doesn't recognize any of the iLife apps as being installed.
Everytime I run GarageBand it states there is a new version, but then Software Update says everything is up to date once it is run.
I have GarageBand 6.0 (427.17) at the moment, and the newest right now is 6.0.5
I haven't been able to update it.
    Any thoughts on this issue?

  • Mac App Store download scheduler?

i am recieving a 5k iMac for Christmas this year, I have a question about the Mac app store.  I have satellite Internet and my unlimited period is from 3am-8am.  Is there a way to have the Mac app store start downloads at 3am so I wouldnt use all the daytime data up?  If the App Store doesn't have that feature, is there a third party program that could make it possible to download things from the Mac aop store during those times?  Thanks.

I'll such puppy built into the Mac App Store app.
You might look into the Automator app that comes free on the Mac, perhaps you can create a workflow that will accomplish what you wish to do.

  • How can i update my old 2006 iMac Intel core 2 duo running 10.6.8 to OSX Lion so that I can sync using iCloud with my newer devices?  Mountain Lion is not an option for my older model and Lion is no longer available at App store.

Call Apple's online store's telesales agents: 1-800-MY-APPLE (1-800-692-7753) or Customer Service and Sales Support at 1-800-676-2775. For Lion you'll get a redemptions code via e-mail and need to DL from the Mac Apple Store (requires SL 10.6.6+).

The Mac App Store requires a Mac running v10.6.6 minimum.
If you are referring to the iTunes Store, minimum requirements for iOS based devices for an iPad are v10.5.8 or later (Leopard)
The iPhone 5 requires Mac OS X v10.6.8 (Snow Leopard) or later >  http://www.apple.com/iphone/specs.html
i have a macbook pro with os tiger.
Tiger is Mac OS X 10.4

    The crash report shows ...
    /Users/gpirtle/Desktop/App Store.app/Contents/Mac OS/App Store
    For PhotoBooth.
Click your Apple menu icon top left in your screen. From the drop down menu click Software Update...

  • Can't update iPhoto and other apps after upgrading to Yosmite.  Bought the computer at a Mac Store complete with iPhoto, iMovie, Numbers, Pages etc so the App store sayes we can't upgrade because these were not purchased through the App store.

Until this gets resolved we can't access iPhoto or my iPhoto library.  Unfortunately didn't back up my photos before we "upgraded" to Yosmite.  Any ideas?

You need to update the information regarding what Mac this is and what version of OS X you're running.
You show a PB G4, which won't run the Mac App Store.

  • How come the same apps that are available for my iPhone and my iPad are not the same as the apps in the app store on my mac

I want some of the same apps available on my iphone and ipad2 to be available on my macbook pro app store and to be able to link them through icloud. Is this not possible? If not, why not?

The Mac uses Mac OS X and iDevices use iOS. These are two different operating systems and the apps must be written for each operating system specifically, even when the apps go by the same name, such as the iWork apps, they are two ifferent versions of the same app for the two different platforms.
So, as an example, Safari has been written for three different operating systems, Mac OS X, iOS and Windows. And the Safari apps, as similar as they are visually, are not interchangeable for the different platforms.

  • How do I use my Itunes credit on the Mac App store

I have a credit in iTunes which I wish to use to buy some apps on the Mac App store. However it doesnt seem to be taking that payment method. How do I solve this?

iTunes and the Mac App Store are the same account and credits redeemed for one are available for the other. The issue may be that you have not allowed for the sales tax that the US store applies in the final steps of a sale. US prices do not yet have the local sales tax added. If the credit does nt cover the total the sustem will ask for another payment method to cover the remaining balance.

  • How do I use the App store with macbook pro and mac pro

I currently use the app store with the mac book, but want to buy (share?) apps and music with the mac pro.
I can't find anything that specifically outlines how this works.
I use SplashID with the macbook and an iPhone, and want to use it (and sync it) on the mac pro as well.
If you buy apps for a macbook, can you use them on a second machine, or do you need to buy it a second time?

Your license from the MAS allows you to download and install the apps on as many Macs as you own or have under your control (institutional or employer supplied Macs.) The Mac should to be running Mac OS X 10.6.8 Snow Leopard or Mac OS X 10.7.2 Lion. Open the MAS app on the Mac Pro and sign into your account to have access to download all of your previous purchases in the Purchased pane.
Simple apps can also be dragged & dropped over a network connection from the MacBook to the Mac Pro.
