No utube in my apple tv

I'm in Hong Kong, I don't have any utube icon or something like that in my apple tv3, please help!

If it worked before, unpower and restart it.
If that doesn't help, go to Settings and look for Audio>Dobly Digital and turn it off assuming you are connected to a TV.

mac is running very slow and found utube video  : http://Apple.com that states to add dns addresses 4.2.2.2 and 4.2.2.1 to network.... is this safe.. legitimate>

Yes, but not the only solution.
If Safari is getting very slow:
(Presumably you regularly empty your Safari cache by deleting the following file:
    Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/cache.db
    and clear your History)
Adding Open DNS codes to your Network Preferences, should give good results in terms of speed-up* as well as added security, (including anti-phishing and redirects) (Full information about Open DNS is here:   http://www.opendns.com/home-solutions and here:  http://www.opendns.com/technology/opendns-vs-google-public-dns/ )
and further independent information can be read here:

but results may vary depending on where you are located.
If you are using a single computer: Open System Preferences/Network. Double click on your connection type, or select it in the drop-down menu, and in the box marked 'DNS Servers' add the following two numbers:
    208.67.222.222
    208.67.220.220
(You can also enter them if you click on Advanced and then DNS)
Sometimes reversing the order of the DNS numbers can be beneficial in cases where there is a long delay before web pages start to load, and then suddenly load at normal speed:

  • HT202788 how to stream Utube and Pictures from i phone 6PLus in apple TV?

    Hi,
I am not able to stream Utube contents and pictures from my iPhone 6 plus in apple TV.
    Can any one help me?

    Hey G.V.,
If you are unable to AirPlay pictures and videos from your iPhone 6, then take a look at the first article below to ensure that the setup is correct. The first thing you will want to do is swipe up to bring up Control Center and tap the AirPlay icon to then select your Apple TV. Then whenever you play a video, it should play on your Apple TV. If all the settings are good, then look at the second article to troubleshoot the issue further.

  • Utube wifi dropout - Will Apple fix this via IOS update?

Utube Wifi drop-out seems to be a common problem. My wifi connection on the new iPad is rock steady like the old, that is until I try Utube HD then it'is time for drop-outs galore and 'no connection' messages. Is this something Apple are going to fix?

This is a user to user technical help forum. No one here knows what Apple will do or will not do.
Reporting your problem to Apple support would be the thing to do.

  • Apple TV and iTunes not able to see each other

I think I have found a bug in either iTunes or Apple TV. My network configuration is a bit complicated so I will describe it first.
Cable modem into my house hitting a Linksys WRT330N router at a central box in my laundry room. From there my house is hard wired to different rooms of the house. One goes to my office where I have a Apple Extreme N airport, connected to my PowerMac and my iTunes library. Again out of the central point in the laundry room again hard wired I have a wire going to my living room, where I have another Apple Extreme N airport, this is where my Apple TV is hard wired too. I have all the latest firmware and software installed on all my devices. Also both Airport Extreme's are setup using bridge mode and letting the Linksys serve the IP addresses for my network.
Now to the problem. I can not explain when or why but my Apple TV and iTunes are not able to see each other after about 48 hours. I have tried all kinds of troubleshooting steps including changing my connection from being hard wired to wireless connecting directly to the Airport Extreme my iTunes computer is connected too. I know my network connection is good as I can see trailers and pull up video's from uTube.
The only way to get them to see each other again is to do a factory reset of my Apple TV. After I do this they can both see each other again. But again after about 48 hours they lose the ability to see each other. I have taken these steps twice now to fix the problem
I just finished reseting my Apple TV and am going to watch it to see when it stops working the next time.
All of these problems started the other day when I introduced a new Apple Extreme N router in my my network. The airport Extreme seem to be working fine with my PS3 and XBox 360 that is also connected to it. So I don't think it's the router that is causing the problem.
If I had to guess I would say something in the Apple TV is locking up. Although I have tried power cycling the Apple TV which does not fix the problem. I'm going through 3 routers to get between the Apple TV and the iTunes library somehow it appears the Apple TV is losing it way.
I welcome any help as I don't want to have to keep factory resetting my Apple TV to keep it working.

Fascinating just reading about your setup. I have a WRT350N and have noticed that it will drop its speed, sometimes down to 1Mbps. It seems to do so at about the same time every day, but usually comes back to speed in about 5 minutes. In my experience, the Apple TV will disconnect if the speed falls this low. Try monitoring the Linksys with Netstumbler, Vistumbler, or just in the Windows Network utility.
Check the "lease obtained" and "lease expired" times for your router to see if that is when the network fails. I've just finished reading an angry thread over at the Linksys forum about the WRT330N where someone mentioned that the router wasn't renewing its lease.
"I cannot set it run off automatic DHCP from the WRT330N, the router will not assign it an IP every time the lease expires, causing me to have to manually set an IP on the Print server. That's annoying. Having the router drop IP's to individual machines after 12-48 hours...very annoying."
    http://forums.linksys.com/linksys/board/message?board.id=Wireless_Routers&thread .id=67412
If that is the problem, then I would consider setting up a Static IP address for your Apple TV. You can do that through the user interface -> Settings -> Network -> Configure ... (Quite intuitive as you only have change IP address and the subsequent details remain the same.)
My router assigns IP Addresses in the ranges of 192.168.1.100 ->149. The idea here is to choose an address outside of that range but is not greater than 192.168.1.253 (and should not end in the number 1). You shouldn't have to change the linksys router as long as 50 clients are assigned in that range. You'll have to figure that out by accessing your router webpage at browser address 192.168.1.1 -> the default password is "admin" (without the quotes).
    Good luck.

  • How do I identify the ports to open on my cisco router from Rogers to allow access through my apple tv - I am not using wireless!

I only have spotty access at best through m Apple TV to itunes, netflix and utube.  I am  Rogers subscriber (feel my pain) and am now using their CISCO DCP3825 router.  Apple TV purchased this past Christmas.  I am not using wireless. No issues prior to replacing my old router and Rogers modem to go to DCP3825.
Apple TV is up to date - updated by connecting to my Macbook Pro.
Rogers tech support was of no help - suggested I open some ports - where do I go for the list(s)?

  • I need to change my Apple id in iCloud but it is gray and a delete option does not come up.

I have changed my email address but can not change it to sign in to iCloud because it is gray and won't let me access the old account.  I do not have an option to delete the old account and can not reset the password on the old account. When I try to reset my password to the old account it tells me that the information (my birthday) does not match the Apple records.  I have viewed the utube videos and read the instructions on how to change your iCloud password but I can't get to the screen I need to be on because I can't get past the initial (old) log in requirements.

  • How to fix a spinning wheel at apple logo?

    Hello
    STAGE ONE
    1.     I have a Macbook Pro running 10.7.5 OSX.
    2.     The computer is hanging at the Apple Logo at the grey spinning wheel.
    3.     I did a SHFT + CTL + CMD + POWER to shutdown computer.
    4.     I did a CMD + POWER and the computer comes up VERY SLOWLY...
I was able to move around but at a SNAILS PACE...
    STAGE TWO
    5.     I checked the web and utube and I found that I need to re-install the software...
    6.     I went to my COMPUTER BOX and I found out that the Software Installation Disk was not in my Computer BOX ...
           Good Srategy !!!
    STAGE THREE
    7.     I tried purchasing a newer version of the software thru the ONLINE STORE for $19,
however , after 2 hours the download failed at the very end of the download.
    8.     O.K. I thought maybe my download was interupted, so I tried the download again
and after another 2 hours, the download failed at the very end of the download.
    9.     SO.... Now I am out $19 and 6 hours of trying to resolve this issue.
    STAGE FOUR
    10.     I decided to walk over to the APPLE STORE at the Eaton Centre at lunch...
    11.     You guessed it... I can make an appointment for 8 PM...
    STAGE FIVE
    12.     Does anyone have any other Ideas for getting my MACBOOK PRO to come back from the dead.
    13.     Microsoft is starting to look good again...

Take each of these steps that you haven't already tried. Stop when the problem is resolved.
    Step 1
The first step in dealing with a boot failure is to secure your data. If you want to preserve the contents of the startup drive, and you don't already have at least one current backup, you must try to back up now, before you do anything else. It may or may not be possible. If you don't care about the data that has changed since your last backup, you can skip this step.
There are several ways to back up a Mac that is unable to boot. You need an external hard drive to hold the backup data.
         a. Boot into the Recovery partition, or from a local Time Machine backup volume (option key at startup.) When the OS X Utilities screen appears, launch Disk Utility and follow the instructions in this support article, under “Instructions for backing up to an external hard disk via Disk Utility.”
    b. If you have access to a working Mac, and both it and the non-working Mac have FireWire or Thunderbolt ports, boot the non-working Mac in target disk mode. Use the working Mac to copy the data to another drive. This technique won't work with USB, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth.
    c. If the internal drive of the non-working Mac is user-replaceable, remove it and mount it in an external enclosure or drive dock. Use another Mac to copy the data.
    Step 2
Press and hold the power button until the power shuts off. Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed to boot, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Use a different keyboard and/or mouse, if those devices are wired. If you can boot now, one of the devices you disconnected, or a combination of them, is causing the problem. Finding out which one is a process of elimination.
If you've booted from an external storage device, make sure that your internal boot volume is selected in the Startup Disk pane of System Preferences.
    Step 3
Boot in safe mode. Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Post for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
When you boot in safe mode, it's normal to see a dark gray progress bar on a light gray background. If the progress bar gets stuck for more than a few minutes, or if the system shuts down automatically while the progress bar is displayed, your boot volume is corrupt and the drive is probably malfunctioning. In that case, go to Step 5.
If you can boot and log in now, empty the Trash, and then open the Finder Info window on your boot volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name.) Check that you have at least 9 GB of available space, as shown in the window. If you don't, copy as many files as necessary to another volume (not another folder on the same volume) and delete the originals. Deletion isn't complete until you empty the Trash again. Do this until the available space is more than 9 GB. Then reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode.)
If the boot process hangs again, the problem is likely caused by a third-party system modification that you installed. Post for further instructions.
    Step 4
Sometimes a boot failure can be resolved by resetting the NVRAM.
    Step 5
Launch Disk Utility in Recovery mode (see Step 1.) Select your startup volume, then run Repair Disk. If any problems are found, repeat until clear. If Disk Utility reports that the volume can't be repaired, the drive has malfunctioned and should be replaced. You might choose to tolerate one such malfunction in the life of the drive. In that case, erase the volume and restore from a backup. If the same thing ever happens again, replace the drive immediately.
This is one of the rare situations in which you should also run Repair Permissions, ignoring the false warnings it may produce. Look for the line "Permissions repair complete" at the end of the output. Then reboot as usual.
    Step 6
Reinstall the OS. If your Mac was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you’ll need the Apple ID and password you used to upgrade.
    Step 7
Repeat step 6, but this time erase the boot volume in Disk Utility before installing. The system should automatically reboot into the Setup Assistant. Follow the prompts to transfer your data from a Time Machine or other backup.
    Step 8
This step applies only to a pre-2013 Mac Pro tower, not to any other model. A dead logic-board battery can cause a gray screen at boot. Typically the boot failure will be preceded by loss of the startup disk and system clock settings. See the user manual for replacement instructions.
    Step 9
If you get this far, you're probably dealing with a hardware fault. Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store to have the machine tested.

  • Bought movie on iTunes can't AirPlay to Apple tv Sound but no picture

    Hi
I have bought an apple tv today for the main use of buying movies.  I have it all connected and soon find out I can only rent not buy from the tv.  So I decided to buy from iTunes on my new iPad - the HD movie, with the intention of air playing it to my tv. This works with utube so shouldn't be an issue.
Unfortunately I only get the sound no pictures come up at all.  How do I fix this?

This seemed odd, since I rented the movie from the itunes store. And, in fact, once the downloading finished (it takes a long time on this old ipad( I tried again and the movie -audio and video - both appeared on my tv.

  • Apple TV Doesn't See Home Shared Library- All settings are correct. Help?

OK, so, I have two apple tv's, first gen. Both are completely updated. Netflix runs fine on both. Apple TV #1 see's the library on my wife's computer and the library on my computer. Apple TV #2 does not show up on either. However, sometimes it does- it's hit and miss.
I know it's not internet connectivity because I can browse iTunes and netflix on #2 without issue.
I've tried fixing the power settings on #2 to go off after the computer goes into sleep.
I've tried re-starting iTunes and, sometimes it shows up, sometimes it doesn't.
The router security has been removed to ensure easy connectivity.
Using "Remote" application on the iPad or iPhone or iPod, I can see the libraries I'm trying to connect to. Within the remote app is the only place that I can consistently see the #2 ATV.
I've tried turning off home sharing and turning back on for all computers-nothing. I've tried almost everything I could find on these forums but nothing is working to make this thing consistent. I've done the re-sets to manufacturer settings. The only thing I haven't tried is hard line witch is not possible due to set up but cannot be issue because I can access internet, itunes, and netflix with atv#2. Please help.

    I have a similar problem.
I have a 2nd generation apple TV and all worked well until I upgraded my imac to the 27inch Imac.
Since then I cannot open home share on the apple TV.
I can see the internet, movies & utube but no computer.
I've tried turning off firewalls ( Norton & Macs Firewalls) but no change.
I've even tried going from wifi to ethernet but still no response. Every time I enter my apple password & ID it says cannot find the server.
I have airplay on my ipad which works perfectly on the computer (not apple tv because I cannot turn on home share)
    Any suggestions
    thanks

  • Why can't I use adobe flash player to watch Utube vedios?

Every time I try to download a vedio I get a message saying apple will not permit adobe flash player.  what alternative do I have to allow me to watch or access Utube vedios?

You're probably using IE11. This is a known problem with Internet Explorer 11, which Microsoft has been aware of since October 18 when they released their latest "untested" browser. The pages can't recognize the browser, so they don't recognize any of the plugins, like Flash Player. So far, Microsoft has made NO indication that they have any plan to fix it soon.
Microsoft's recommendation is to use Compatibility View for affected pages, and "pretend" you're using an different browser. Trouble with that is it has seen limited success at best, and you have to individually enable it for EVERY page that has problems.
I'm not big on "pretending" so I recommend actually using another browser, at least until Microsoft gets their act together and fixes IE..
    Firefox (from Mozilla)
    Opera (from Opera)
    Safari (from Apple)
    Chrome (from Google)
ANY of those will work where IE11 won't, with the Flash Player Plug-in (For all other browsers), and Chrome doesn't even need that because it has its own Flash Player plugin built in.
