I am runing windows XP with internet explore 8 trying to install adobe 10.1.2 it downloads ok starts to install then stops with the msg saying, No Valid sequence could be found for the set of patches. I tryed 2 other Browers and get the same msg. please help Thank you..

Do you have an earlier Reader version already installed?  If so, try to uninstall it first.
If that fails, try http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall
Finally, download and run the full Reader installer from http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/

  • Change in certificate validation algorithm in Adobe Reader 10.1.2

Some experiments I have done with both Adobe Reader 10.1.1 and 10.1.2 show that their implemented algorithm vor validating the certificate of a signature is different:
In all versions of Adobe Reader up to and including 10.1.1 no revocation checking is performed for a certificate marked as a trust anchor.
In Adobe Reader 10.1.2 revocation checking is performed even if a certificate is marked as a trust anchor.
Since the latter behaviour is in conflict with international standards for certificate validation (RFC 5280, section 6.1), my questions are:
Has this shift in the implementation happened intentionally?
    If yes, why?
    /Gregor

    Hi Jagriti,
sorry, it took some time to prepare things for this answer.
I have digged a bit deeper in my real world example: It uses a qualified EE certificate isssued by a German Trust Center supervised by the German Federal Net Agency (Bundesnetzagentur) - want I want to express here: It is not some self-signed anything, but a situation that will happen with almost each qualified EE certificate issued under German law.
You can find my real world example here, a PDF signed using such a qualified EE certificate (BTW: I cannot find a way to add files to my post, is there really no such mean in Adobe's forums?).
Additionally I have put together all certificates and CRLs depicted in the following graph into a ZIP-Archive, you can find it here.
Now, there are some awkward things with the structure of that PKI:
If you try to find a revocation status for Bundesnetzagentur's OCSP Service, you may get into a loop, since the signer certificate for that OCSP Service has a AIA certificate extension pointing to - well - the Bundesnetzagentur's OCSP Service (but this is not the problem I am facing at the moment - see below).
If you try to find a revocation status for the CRL issuer of Bundesnetzagentur's indirect CRL, you may face the same problem, since the CRL-DP certificate extension of the CRL issuer's certificate points to - well - the Bundesnetzagentur's indirect CRL (but this is still not the problem I am facing at the moment ;-).
The CRL-DP certificate extension (in all certificates shown in the graph above and depicted in blue) is missing the cRLIssuer field in the DistributionPoint, which is a MUST regarding to RFC 5280 if the DistributionPoint refers to an indirect CRL. Yes, and this is my problem at the moment - see below.
My current settings in Adobe Reader 10.1.2 are the following:
The Bundesnetzagentur's root certificate 12R-CA1:PN is marked as a trust anchor.
I am using a custom certificate preference to tell Adobe Reader to accept the OCSP responder signing certificate  TC TrustCenter DIR 39:PN (cAuthorizedResponder set to 1).
Validation in my Adobe Reader 10.1.2 currently does the following:
Find a valid path for Test-Signaturdienst:PN ... fine.
Check revocation status for Test-Signaturdienst:PN ... fine (using the OCSP responder pointed to by the AIA of the certificate).
Check revocation status for TC TrustCenter DIR39:PN ... fails (using the CRL-DP pointing to the Bundesnetzagentur's indirect CRL).
My question for the moment: Is there a chance to let Adobe Reader 10.1.2 accept Bundesnetzagentur's indirect CRL although the CRL-DP in TC Trustcenter DIR 39:PN is missing the cRLIssuer field?
My question for later: Is it an issue inside Adobe to support the validation of documents signed with a qualified certificate issued under German law despite the awkward construction of Bundesnetzagentur's PKI (Germany is a market with 80 million people)?
    Best regards, Gregor

  • What are the specs to validate a PDF file? is there a PDF validator available from Adobe?

I have the following situation: In our company use a software product to schedule our engineers and inform our customers when one of our engineers visits them, to do this the following steps happen:
the software product is running on a SQL server 2008 R2 database and calls a standard function from SQL server to create a PDF file (PDF version 1.3)
Then this PDF file is attached to an Email which is then sent to our customers.
Some customers don't use email but they use a fax. For this we have use an email2fax product from our telephone provider which translates the email to a fax.
When the software product creates the email, attaches the PDF and sends it to the email2fax solution the attached is discarded.
The email2fax should send the attachment as well but it's not doing that.
When I manually send an email with an attached PDF (PDF version 1.5) the attachment is sent to the customer as a fax
When I open the original PDF file created by SQL server and save it again as PDF version 1.5, then attach it to an email and send it to the email2fax the attachment gets send as well.
When I open the original PDF file created by SQL server and save it again as PDF version 1.3, then attach it to an email and send it to the email2fax the attachment gets send as well.
When we send the email from the software product, with the PDF created by SQL server in version 1.3, to another email address the attachment is included in the mail.
    some conclusions so far:
The PDF file in version 1.3 is created in SQL server and is usable in all products which read PDF files, except in the email2fax solution
the email to the email2fax software contains the PDF attachment
the email2fax software can handle a PDF version 1.3 file but not the file created by SQL server.
We gave these results to the supplier of the email2fax solution and their response is: "A PDF file is a valid PDF file when it is created by Adobe software"
My conclusion would be that they are wrong as PDF is a standard created by Adobe but that doesn't mean other software products can't comply with this standard and create a valid PDF file, but I have no way of telling them how they are wrong and without a stronger argument I can't convince them to investigate the problem.
    extra info:
Portable Document Format - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
    My questions are now:
Is there a PDF validation tool available from Adobe which would confirm that our PDF file generated by SQL server is a valid PDF file?
    Or
Does anyone know if SQL server 2008R2 does create invalid PDF files and if there is a fix available to solve this behavior?
Any help in understanding this problem is greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your reply and your time reading this long question.
    Regards,
    Arjen

It is a high order probability that your SQL's report generator is creating the PDF, not Acrobat (which by design and EULA cannot be used in as/with server).
That the report generator outputs to an old-old version of PDF bears this out.
Wiki articles on PDF are very nice for those high level intro summaries.
To know / understand PDF you purchase and study the ISO Standard for PDF (ISO 32000-1:2008).
Rather than "PDF validation" you may want to consider addressing the appearent root cause of the problem(s).
You can change the email2fax application to one that can deal with older PDF versions.
You can change the report generator to one that can output to the ISO Standard.
(Perhaps the in-use application can be configured to output to the current version of PDF (i.e., the ISO Standard).
    Be well...

i just downloaded photoshop elements 7.0 to a new box and it tells me that my serial number is not valid. the adobe support team says the number is valid, but that they can't help me

Which operating system are you using?
When you say downloaded, where did download pse 7 from?
Do you have the original install disk or original download for pse 7?
I believe the serials won't interchange between the disk version of pse 7 and the electronic down load version.

  • Reset Validator controls in Adobe Flex 3.0

    Hi,
I am new to Adobe Flex. I am using Flex Builder 3.0 to build
an application. I am having a problem with validator controls. The
    senario is as follows:
    About the problem:
I am having a page with two text boxes. If the user does not
enter anything in the TextInput, am alerting the user to enter a
    value using the validator control.
If the user enters the data and clicks on save, am displaying
the details in a grid and am clearing the TextInput fields. After
this process the TextInput fields are again getting validated and
    shown as an error.
Please adivce me how to avoid this.
    Regards,
    Raj.

I'm hoping you have found the answer by now, but...
To reset a control, set the errorString to the empty string.
    myControl.errorString = "";
And do this for all of the controls that you wish to reset.

  • Table fields Validation in online adobe form WDABAP

    Hi,
I have a table in Online Adobe form, and one of the field in the table is Check Box, if the check box is selected the next field(with in the same table) should be left blank else it should issue some error like leave blank.
Can some one tell me how to to do this using javascript?
    Ravi

    Ravi,
For eg:- Lets assume you have a table name Table1 with 2 rows (Row1 and Row2) & 3 columns.
Row 1 has three cells --> Cell1 (which contains check box), Cell2(InputField which needs to be kep blank), Cell3( Assume its a numeric field)
Similarly Row 2 has three cells --> Cell1 (which contains check box), Cell2(InputField which needs to be kep blank), Cell3( Assume its a numeric field)
    So the hierarchy will be
    Table1
    |--- Row1
        |-----CheckBox1
        |-----Cell2
        |-----Cell3
    |--- Row2
        |-----CheckBox2
        |-----Cell2
        |-----Cell3
Now write following code in JavaScript in the change event of CheckBox1.
    var currVal = Table1.Row1.CheckBox1.rawValue;
    //xfa.host.messageBox("Current Val is : "+currVal);
    if(currVal == 1) // Means checkbox is selected
         xfa.host.messageBox("Please Leave Next Field blank");
           Table1.Row1.Cell2.access = "readOnly";
    else
         Table1.Row1.Cell2.access = "open";
Similarly, you need to write code for CheckBox2 of Row2.

  • I have a valid Licence, but Adobe can't [insert expletives here] find it

I bought a full single copy of web premium CS4. I upgraded to web premiums  CS5.0, CS5.5 (which contained a copy of Flash Builder 4.5 premium) and now CS6 web & design (which has dropped FB now confusingly)
That is the history lesson over. If I have a serial number for FB4.5 premium from CS5.5, then, surely, I have a full licensed copy.
Now. When I tried to upgrade to 4.6 from 4.5, it was such a bloody awful mess that I thought I would try to buy the upgrade from the adobe store just to get it over with. I paid £38.00 I think, but of course this was just to upgrade a standalone product. Not one that came with CS5.5, so it didn't work.
    I returned the upgrade.
Now Adobe only sees this returned upgrade as my only access to the product. The support folk refuse to be Sherlock Holmes and are even unaware that FB was brifly bundled with CS5.5.
What the .... am I supposed to do to get to 4.7???
This is what happens when the marketing people make such blunders with Premium, Standard, flex, flash builder, bundled and standalone.
I woke up to the words HELP ME on raised bumps on my stomach this morning

I have been back to support. Afterr getting them to acknowledge that CS5.5 did indeed have flash Builder 4.5 Premium bundled with it, they said that I was ineligible as it was not a 'point' product. I asked what a point product was and I was told I was being moved up to another support queue, but in fact I was just pushed sideways before being released back into a disgruntled community.
Now I am the one who is fully activated. I will not stop until someone at Adobe can tell me why I am ineligible for a part upgrade release [4.6 to 4.7] when I have a full product serial number for 4.5.
Does this mean that when any product is part of a CS studio bundle, that upgrades can be made ineligible because it is not a 'point' product? What next? Photoshop, InDesign?
I just think that the whole Flex, Flashbuilder marketing bungle's legacy is raising its ugly face in the form of incompetent and short sighted licensing and upgrade management.
    So what is the answer?

  • I am trying to learn if the notice about FlashPlayer update is a valid one from adobe since my compu

computer crashed the last time that I tried to download what appeared to be an update from adobe systems.

I keep my Flash Player set to "Never check for updates" because there are so many "fakes" out there.
You can always check the version by right clicking ANY flash content. You'll see teh version in the last line of the contextual menu.
I always use the installers here:
Flash Player for ActiveX (Internet Explorer)
Flash Player Plug-in (All other browsers)
    Bookmark them.
If and when you see something telling you to update, simply use the links again.
If you still see update notices after you've updated, they're "fakes". Disregard them.

  • Fault in adobe digital signature revocation checking schema

    Hello,
I have found some fault in adobe digital signature revocation checking schema. If OCSP response signing certificate contains CRL distribution point (in my case CDP (CRL) and AIA (OCSP)), online OCSP check executes, but after getting all chain certificate OCSP responses, validating signature against CRL (it’s looks from Local cache). It means you never get OCSP validation data in Adobe Acrobat or Reader signature revocation tab.
Adobe Revocation Checking Quick Key schema is following:
    Check      Embedded revocation responses
Check      local CRL cache C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Application      Data\Adobe\Acrobat\9.0\Security\CRLCache
    Check      Online OCSP response
    Check      Online CRL response
    LAB environment:
Certificate      chain E-ME SSI      (RCA) (Root Certificate) -> E-ME PSI (PCA) (Policy Certificate) -> E-ME IS (CA1) (Issuer certificate) -> User      certificate (Document signing certificate)
Sign      PDF document (Ocsp-CHECK.pdf)      using Adobe Acrobat 9 with User certificate (Don’t add revocation information in signature)
    Test steps:
Sign      PDF document using Adobe Acrobat 9 with User certificate (Don’t add revocation      information in signature)
Clear      Local CRL cache under C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Application      Data\Adobe\Acrobat\9.0\Security\CRLCache
Open      signed file using Adobe Acrobat 9 or Reader 9
Verify      signature. Verification process finishes successfully. Under signature      properties in certificate windows and user certificate revocation tab you      can see that revocation information data comes from CRL. The same for all      chain certificates. But if we look in chain and user certificate its holds      AIA record for OCSP service.
After      a couple of tests I tried to disable access for Acrobat to local CRL cache      folder (Everyone – Full control deny).
After      disabling access to local CRL cache folder - verify the same signed PDF      file. Opening document you can see OCSP checking progress and verification      process finishes successfully. Under signature properties in certificate      windows and user certificate revocation tab you can see that revocation      information data comes from OCSP. The same for all chain certificates.
    Resolution:
Its looks when Adobe starts online OCSP checking and receives OCSP response they start parsing OCSP response signer certificate and check OCSP signer certificates revocation information. In this process CRL for OCSP signer certificate is downloaded and placed in Local CRL cache C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Application Data\Adobe\Acrobat\9.0\Security\CRLCache
Somehow when Adobe gets all chain certificate OCSP responses and have verified also all OCSP signer certificates, online OCSP check is no more continued and revocation information are taken from Local CRL cache.
Can you please help me to clear how to deal with this problem, to make sure that procedure works correctly?

  • Validator not working in CS6

Anyone knows if this has been fixed? It seems that we can't do a local validation in CS6.

Adobe removed offline validation in version 5 or 5.5 in favor of using the more accurate and updated w3c.org online validators.
There was an extension to add DWCS4 offline validation to more recent versions, which is why they left the option available in the menu originally. I don't know if that's still available though.
