No video from composite cable on iPad 2

Hi!
I just bought the composite AV cable for my iPad 2 hoping to be able to watch pictures on my old non-HD widescreen TV circa 1999. I hook everything up but I don't get picture. Watching video throught the video app gets me sound but still no video. I know the composite cable doesn't support mirroring but it's supposed to work this the native apps for pics & video, right? Is my TV to old or do anybody have any other suggestions?
Thanks!
/ Anders

Have you confirmed with the dock manufacturer that it supports iPads and/or the version of iOS you're using on your iPad?

It is a hard one.. laptops with small drives are a pain.
What you need is a home media server.
Some people use a PC running itunes for cost.. but that is nothing like as good as using a Mac mini.. they make great little HTPC device.. you can plug in large hard disks and store all your files and media. And share it with the network.. Read up apple's instructions on home sharing.
    https://www.apple.com/au/support/homesharing/
For cost you can buy a mini from 2011 or 2012.. I would not recommend earlier ones.. the advantage of 2012 is they have USB3 ports. But you will pay more for them.. new mini is not as useful.. they have soldered in memory and you cannot upgrade.. the old mini was the most easily modified mac in the whole range. Uses little power and can be bought for a $300US for a good one second hand.. maybe less.

How do I transfer my pictures and videos from my Iphone and IPad onto my time capsule?

You cannot use Apple TV.. again the TC is not a media device and has no media extensions.
You can store video files on the TC.. but the ATV must work either via airplay so you run the video on an ipad for instance and send the screen view to the apple tv or you have itunes running on a computer.
BTW a WD live TV can play video files from a TC.. because it is a true media player.. the Apple TV is not a media player.. it is a streamer.

how to get videos from my camera on ipad 2 to my iMac

Photos/videos in the Camera Roll can be imported by your computer as with any other digital camera.
If you use iPhoto for this with any other digital camera, you can use iPhoto for this. Or you can use the Image Capture application for the import if you don't use iPhoto.

  • Exactly how do i stream videos from netflix, thru my ipad, to my hdtv?

how do i uaw my ipd2 to download movies or stream movies  from netflix, thru my ipad to my hdtv?

No you don't need an Apple TV.
If you already have a Netflix account, you need to download the Netflix app for iPad.
Depending on what will work, you'll need to purchase the Apple Digital AV cable/connector (HDMI connector),
Apple Component video & audio cable (separate Red, Green Blue channels) or Apple Composite & audio (VGA)
    cable.
Once you have one of the cables connected to both your iPad and the appropriate connection/selection on the TV, you tap the Netflix app icon, input your Netflix user name and password, pick a TV show or movie you want to watch tap on the movie, then tap play and the video should output through the iPad's dock connector to the input connected to the TV. Make sure you pick the right input setting via your HDTV's own remote control.
    And that's it!
You need to have an active account for the Netflix streaming content service in order for their app to work on iPad/iPhone/iPod Touch.
I have an older Sony 38" TV and use the Apple Composite (VGA) cable to stream Netflix through the iPad to my TV. The iPad acts as a streaming media device for this type of use.
    Works great!
One caveat though. There is been a lot of threads here that deal with the quality of Apple's cable/connector varieties.
Many have complained that they had to struggle with finding a good, working cable or finding the cable that would work with the iPad that allowwed the video
signals to pass thru the cable/s to the TV.
Hopefully you won't have this issue, but if you buy a certain Apple cable and it doesn't appear to be working or defective, return it and purchase another like it or try an entirely different cable.
I couldn't get the Apple Component Video cable to work on my Sony. I returned it for another and still didn't work. I returned that one a tried the
Apple Composite (VGA) cable anf that cable has worked like a champ for nearly a year, now!

  • How do I download videos from iCloud to my ipad

I placed videos from my iPhone to iCloud.  I want to download those videos to my iPad using the same iCloud account

And exactly how did you place videos into iCloud from your iPad? Photos and videos from the camera roll are stored in your iCloud backup which is only accessible by restoring from the backup.
If you are talking about purchased videos, go to the purchased tab of iTunes on the iPad, tap on Movies, tap on Not on this iPad and if there is a cloud icon next to those videos, you can download them again for free.
if that is not want you are talking about, further explanation from you is needed.

  • Can't stream videos from Iphone 4 or Ipad 3 to apptv 3

Folks need some help- I love Mac and all the products but I am having a bit of an unpleasant experience with my apple tv 3.  I have Iphone-4, Ipad 3rd gen, and Apple Tv 3rd gen.  I want to use airplay to stream videos from safari or netflix- but! I get a message on my TV that states "Error occured while trying to play this video" And that is all I get.  All three are on the same Wi-Fi network. Of note- my Ipad was able to stream for 30 seconds before the error message came up.  After that nada.
Thank you in advance for your help
