No Video Input Found?
I'm running Windows Vista (SP1) 32 bit on my dell laptop, and when I open onLocation to record from my camera, it says "No Video Input" This same camera worked on XP on a desktop. My camera has a four pin port, and I'm using 2 4-6 pin cords with an adapter, so it goes 4-6-4 pins...I don't think this should make a difference though. Any suggestions?

This sounds like a hardware issue. The OS shouldn't matter at all. Since you say the camera works fine when connected to another camera, the most likely culprits are the laptop's FireWire port or the cable chain.
I'd start by trying a different FireWire cable--ideally just a single cable, without adapters. If you're still outa luck, you could try a FireWire PC Card to get around the laptop's built-in FireWire port.

Vox S-Video input is black and white
After a few issues, my Vox is up and running. The picture quality is disappointing on the TV broadcasts but of more issue for me is a problem with the S-Video input.
The main reason I bought this was to capture old videos and transfer them to DVD. I have a scart lead attached to the back of the VCR with S-Video, Composite Video and Audio phono plugs on the other end. Using the composite video phono plug the picture is fine and I can capture the video. If I swap to use the S-Video plug (my preference as the quality should be better) it comes through in black and white. However, if I plug the S-Video and audio phonos into a television, the picture is fine.
Has anyone experienced this or have any ideas what might be wrong?

Video input/ iMac display as monitor
Hello everybody,
I have got a feature request for future releases of the iMac series. I think I would not be the only one appreciating a solution to use an iMac's display as monitor for other computing devices such as the Mac mini or older PC-hardware. In my opinion this video input would not have to be more than another little port at the back of an iMac. This could be solved with a mini-port like it is now with the mini-DVI.
When trying to find a way to use my iMac that way I only found this vnc solution which requires a network connection between both devices but I also found many posts asking for a solution like my proposal.
Please let me know what you think of it! Thanks in advance!It's not that easy. Providing a direct input to the monitor would require quite a bit of additional circuitry. I think that the cost of providing such in input would be unjustifiable when considering the small percentage of iMac buyers who would use such a feature. But you can suggest it to Apple here:

I lately have been looking for a Video input adapter that works with my Mac book. I found a windows VIA but that didn't work on mac and I looked for mac ones but couldn't find one at a reasonable price or just didn't seem reliable. So apple.com do you know where I can find one?Or better yet, Mac do you sell them?
I use an elgato 250 firewire for mine. I has input for video and also a TV tuner built in. They sell different models for use as input devices.

IMovie hangs, no video input and then crash!!!! HELP!!

This is my first post here so I really hope you can help me.
I have a G4 Dual 1.25 with an Canopus ADVC -110 and every time that I want to import from the Beta SP (the input switch from the Canopus is in analog) the software show that the camera it's connected via firewire but I don't see any video input although I can see video output from Canopus in my reference monitors, and, if I switch to the edit tool or any other tablets or features the software crashes!!! I tried deleting the preferences, repairing disk and permission, reinstalled ILife again and nothing!
Then I reinstalled the system software and it worked fine but a few days ago I was converting a QT movie to a DV format so I can use it in Logic & ProTools and since then I'm having the same problem again.I deleted pref, repair disk and permisions but still the same!! I really need some help because this one of my main tools in my recording studio so I can do my msx scoring.

What I did I moved all the preferences to a new folder in my desktop and open iMovie and it worked fine so, I started to move them back individualy or in pairs anduntil i found the one wich was giving me ****!!it was a folder names by host after that the software still working just fine. Any ideas what this folder means ? because it had some preferences inside that I have no clue what they're about. Anyways, at least i know where to go next time if it happens again (hopefully it won't!!). Thanks for all your help and for your responses.

I am trying to decide between the ThinkVision L2321 and L2230 LCD monitors, and although the obvious difference is the size (ie. 23 in versus 21.5 in), the only thing I have a question about is the difference between their Preset Modes Text and the Video Inputs description which I found on the Lenovo Website when I do a comparison of the two.

I'm not sure if this should go into the iMovie section or just general OS X section but, I'm going to put it here.
I'm working on a project for my job where I need to transfer some instructional videos that are VHS to DVD. So we (the people I work with) bought an LG GSA-5169D "One-Touch Video to Disc" DVD burner that has RCA in (to connect the VCR to the Burner) and then USB 2.0 out (to connect to the computer). It comes with Windows software, that once installed allows you to... do what the product is advertised to do, import a playing VCR to a video file and then burn that to a DVD. The point is, it allows video capture from a USB Video Input device.
Well, I have a Mac Pro (that also has Vista Ultimate installed on it) which makes me not only the best candidate for ANY video processing work but, everyone I work with has pretty old machines and none of them can transfer the video at high enough quality (the Windows software locks out certain levels of transfer if it reads a CPU that is too weak).
But, we thought that what might be possible is to use iMovie to capture video from this device. And it would be possible if we could get iMovie, or rather OS X, to recognize the connect USB device as a USB Video Input device. Now I know that since 10.4.3, OS X has a UVC class driver so, shouldn't it be able to see the input? Am I just grasping at straws?
(By the way, for those of you thinking I should just install the software on my Vista partition and do it that way, the software just locks up when I attempt to install it on Vista. Braindead, BS LG software.)
Basically, to lay it out simply, my goal is to somehow get some sort of adequate video capturing software to recognize and receive and USB Video Input.
I'd appreciate ANY kind of help or suggestions.The only hope I've ever found for doing it straight through, with no passthrough camera, is using VideoGlide (http://www.echofx.com/videoglide.html) but I can't quite figure it out. When I go into Video sources, USB Video Input is grayed out even though that's what it's supposed to do. It even lists the drive that I have on the page as a supported device! I don't know.

How to connect Apple TV (2g) HDMI to HDTV with only component video input.
Trying to connect Apple TV (2g) HDMI to HDTV with only component video input. Can I use a simple cable or do I need a converter box/plug? Is the HDMI signal coming from ATV encrypted or HDCP enabled?

I would like to connect my iPad to my older TV but the only inputs available are the s-video input port on the TV itself and there is also a USB input port on the satellite box that feeds the TV. There is no s-video cable available for any iPad.

I have an HP 510Y. Does anyone know how to use the audio video inputs on the front panel.
I have tried connecting a VCR a Camcorder and other devices and nothing happens. Its like they are not even connected. Has anyone else had a problem. What am I doing wrong. This is an audio video input is it not. Help please!

When I am trying to import pictures from my iphone to PC, I get the message'No new pictures of videos were found on this device'. There are lots of pictures which i can see on the iphone. I have a 4S. Is there a way to get around that?
It sounds like you are using an application to import. You can do it manually.
Start > Computer (on the right) > scroll to the bottom and you will see your iPhone under Portable Devices > Open it and you will see a Drive, open that and there will be a DCIM folder. That is where your photos will be (There may be other folders each holding photos). -

Google run a Jabber server for their service.
Jabber apps (those that can) use a Protocol called Jingle to make the A/V connections.
Google's version is not even that compatible with other Jabber apps. (See Here)
The Plug-in in the Google Install (Or the Standalone Web Browser Plug-in allow Browsers to access the GoogleTalk A/V side as does the Standalone PC app called GoogleTalk as well.
iChat uses a process called SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) to connect to other iChat Users or to the AIM for PC app.
However this also works in any iChat to iChat Connection no matter if the Buddy List is an AIM Login based one, Jabber (including GoogleTalk) or A LAN based Bonjour Chat.
In you care this is not going to work.
Getting the Standalone (Intel only) Browser Plug-in and using the Chat option in the Google Mail Web page is probably the easiest option.

Fine by me. Now I alrdy have a genuine window and the problem still occur.
I already test both the hdmi and the dvi but the result still the same. still no signal or no video input. And I also test the desktop on other monitor and the result problem pointed at the graphic card.
And as stated in my previous topic, when I remove the graphic card can connect the monitor through the hdmi on the mother board it work fine.
Here some spec of my desktop.

hell if you dont want to plumb the whole unit into his rig on the main 20/24 pin connector find the green cables pin and any neer by black ground cable and jump your psu with a paperclip in the wholes and just connected to your graphics card in his case and psu outside his case to only power your card and flip the power switch to turn it on quite easy (10 mins to do max)!
