No video of Dynamically Linked asset from AE to Encore

Hi Folks,
I’m working with Adobe CS5 Collection Premium and I experience the following problem with bringing animate assets through a dynamic link into my encore project. I’ll try to explain briefly the issue:
I’m building a blu-ray disc in Encore, which has animated transitions between the menus. These transitions are created in After Effects and brought into Encore via a dynamic link. All the dynamically linked transitions are output correctly in the final disc with the exception of the first-play animated introduction (created in AE) to my main menu – the sound is there but there is no video. There are no issues during the preview of the project in Encore - everything plays just fine and all dynamic links to my animated transitions play ok in Encore. The problem occurs after burning the BD-disc - the video is missing from the intro scene.
Has anybody had a similar issue with dynamically linked assets to Encore projects? I tried bringing the same animated asset via dynamic link with After Effects CS5 and Premiere Pro CS5. The result is the same – the first scene lacks the video. Could it be because my Encore project settings are 20mbps, which causes the blu-ray player to struggle with the first-play animated menu?
Any solutions?

The composition background is transparent. It has per se no color and does not react to blendmodes and such. It's imaginable that Encore resets it to black for whatever reason (wouldn't know, as I design my menus always with full frame backgrounds to begin with). Still, I would consider it a bug regardless, so please fiel away:

Dynamic Link button from Speedgrade to Premier is grey. No problems Linking from Premier to SG, but no way to send the project back to Premier. The project is in Apple ProRes 4444. I have a Mac Pro last generation. Thanks for an urgent help!

Well... I have done everything you advice first SG, but it didn't work, so I have cleaned the whole CC, erasing any possible trace of it from my computer, then I have gone through the Cleaner Tool and reinstalled brand new the whole thing.
    My builds now:
    PrPro: 8.2.0(65)
    SpeedGrade: 8.2x51
    Exactly the same. Obviously, troubleshooting.
For what I understand, according to your comment, is that I ave to match the builds, which would mean either to low down PP to 51 or up SG to 65... Is ti that or am I getting crazy?
But how the hell to do it?
I have a 2 hours film with a 1 month grading work on it stuck in SG... Aaaaahhhhh!
(Oh, the good old times of FCP 7 and Color... NEVER A PROBLEM)
    Best,

  • Dynamic Link (Adobe Premiere Pro to Encore) issues with burning a DVD from the project file

    Hello,
I am running Adobe Suite CS 5.1 on my Mac:
    2.8 GHz Quad Core
    6GB Memory
I've been having issues with a few projects; using Dynamic Link, directly from my project in Premier, to send them to Encore:
When attempting to burn a DVD, Encore will 'hang up' and not burn; I rarely burn to DVD, usually I'm always encoding for web, and just always use the 'default settings' in Encore.
    A few things to note:
*In my project I'm using MOV files, from a Canon 7D, and MP4 files, from a Sony EX-1.
*I am working off of 3 separate hard drives; very large projects with over 5TBs of media files.
*I noticed that after inserting a DVD, it caused one of my hard drives to eject; this happened once, as far as I know.
*This only happens when I use Dynamic Link to send to Encore, via my Premiere Pro project file.
*My Project settings are always: XDCam HD-1080p/24p
    Please help.
    Thanks

So you must downrez at some point in the workflow. Some users have problems and/or think they get better quality out of direct PR/AME exports than using DL for this purpose.
I would test the workflow by creating three short test sequences - one with a clip from one camera, a second from the other, and a third with both in a sequence using the same settings you are using in your edit. I would use the "drag a clip" to the new item method for making each of the first two sequences. By short I mean 30 seconds to 2 minutes with a mixture of still and action.
Export using whatever method you pick of those recommended, but use CBR 8 instead of VBR etc. Bring the resulting files into Encore. Yes, look at the files exported on the computer, and look at Encore preview, etc, but also burn to a disk and watch on multiple TVs. There are lots of issues in best quality.

  • Transcoding Dynamic Link Assets

Am I missing something, or does Encore 5.0 not allow transcoding of Dynamically Linked assets before building?  The usual suspects of Transcode Now and File>Render>Project are all grayed out.  Seems the only way I can get the linked PP sequence to render is to Build.
    Is that normal?

The next option would be that the transcode has already occurred for the type of project currently set (DVD -> DVD transcode setting is "transcoded or do not transcode"; bluray is bluray transcoded).
It would be very odd indeed for Transcode Now to be unavailable. Not where I can play with this, but I can't imagine a scenario that would produce the problem.

  • Speed grade will not cache Dynamic Linked projects from premiere

Speedgrade does not cache linked comps from premiere. This results in an extremely slow playback in Speedgrade.

  • Dynamic Link has no "Export to Encore" option

    Good morning.
I'm using Creative Cloud and I have Premiere Pro CC 2014 installed as well as Encore CS6. Both are in the same folder on my storage drive. Both programs work fine.
Only problem is that when I open the Dynamic Link sub-menu (File>Dynamic Link) there is no option for sending the project to Encore. It this normal? I followed the Adobe instructions on installing Encore CS6 via Creative Cloud which was to install Premiere CS6 then unintall but keep the Encore CS6 installation.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks.

Thanks again Stan. I have a follow up question then if you can help with that too.
I'm working on a project where the client wants a new DVD on a fairly daily basis which is then reviewed and then changes are made, sometimes to the Premiere sequence. In the past I've used the File>Export>Media interface to directly export to MPEGs-DVD. Haven't been using the Encoder function.
My question is (and I'm assuming the answer is yes) but if I end up having to update the premiere sequence and generate new m2v and wav files when I update that as the timeline in Encore I will pretty much have to rewired the flowchart, yes?
Thanks again sir. You're an angel!

  • Encore CS6 Dynamic Link from Pr CS6 Problem/Issue

I switched from Production Premium CS5 to CS6.  I first deactivated and uninstalled my CS5 then installed CS6 on my Windows 7 machine.
    The problem:
When I edit together a video in Premiere CS6 and have finished, I use Dynamic Link from within Encore CS6 to bring in that timeline.  After that, I use AME to transcode that Dynamic Link asset to the DVD MPEG standard, Encore CS6 keeps poping up a  notification window that says:  "The transcoded DynamicLink asset _______ has changed on the server.  Would you like to reimport it?  Yes/No" It prompts me each time I enter Encore and any time I move from another open program back to Encore.
And I have to click No for each timeline that I have used Dynamic Link for (which is usually 5 or so).
Any ideas or help?  This is incredibly annoying.
    Thank you.
    Jared

As an update.  I am using the newest version of PluralEyes (v 2.0.5  7358) to sync the audio of the multiple camera event films I have shot.  I have since created a new project in Premiere and only manually lined up clips and then Dynamically Linked that to a new Encore project and so far Encore has not promtpted me with the error/message:  "The transcoded DynamicLink asset _______ has changed on the server.  Would you like to reimport it?  Yes/No"
Any ideas?  This is very frustrating.  Thank you!

  • Dynamic Link from Premiere CC to After Effects CC Issues.

Just bought a new iMac maxed out 3.75ghz quad-core, 32 gig of ram, 1t solid state and 4 gigs of video ram; so my machine is more then capable of using adobe video applications very well.  I like to do a lot of dynamic link things from premiere to after effects and 9 times out of 10 I use a black video (File>New>Black Video) as my place holder on the time line or you could use bars or a color matte, doesnt matter..  When I do my composite in after effects and then come back to premiere to render, it takes freaking forever if I leave after effects open.  If I close after effects then do the render, it fires through the premiere render and no problems.
Now I also have a maxed out 12 core 64 gig ram Mac Pro tower at work and I have the same problem.  Is this a known bug thats in the works of being fixed?  Is there a work around instead of closing after effects to render to make it work smoother?  Is adobe aware of this issue?  Nothing is crashing or failing, its just taking a long time to render when i dynamic link if i leave after effects open.  Any help or feedback would be awesome, thanks!

    Todd_Koprivas
I spoke with vidya sagar from tech support a few minutes ago to get an update on when, maybe this update to fix this problem will be rolled out.  He told me he and his whole team is aware of the situation.  He mentioned its a problem where ram between premiere and after effects isn't being balanced out enough and thats why premiere is taking so long to render out after effect compositions.  With all do respect, I'm not trying to be a nag.  Can you maybe give me a progress report on where the team is with fixing this related issue?  Vidya said your the man to ask and that you're a very reliable resource to get information out of with problems such as this.

  • Dynamic link new feature or bug

If I create an Encore project comprised of dynamic-link sequences from Premier and build a DVD, that works fine.  However, if later I change one or more of the sequences in Premier, save everything, and open Encore, it does not know that some of the sequences need to be transcoded again.  I found that to work around this, I must do "revert to original" to the sequences I've changed to get Encore to transcode them again.  Can't this be handled automagically?

    Can't this be handled automagically?
Even with video files that reside on your hard drive, once they've been transcoded En looks only at the transcoded version unless you tell it to do otherwise.
If En were to trash the transcoded version (which may have taken hours and hours to produce) anytime Encore or Windows or OS-X thought the file or the sequence had changed, there would be a lot of angry authors out there.
So with real files or linked sequences, you have to explicitly tell En that you don't want the transcoded version any more.

  • Process Server, Dynamic Link, Export and HANG

My joke of the day... what do Adobe and Toyota have in common?  Crash!   Hey, I'm trying to make light out of a bad situation.
Here's the deal, I edited four straight days on a 12 minute video, at 9:00pm last night I was going to export the video for client review this morning.  Media encoder would load the file and then nothing. Now I can not proceed with the edit.
I CAN load the project, but I can NOT save the project.  When I save the project it acts like it has saved fine and I can shut down PP without error but when I try to re-load it, PP hangs.
Originally, I thought it was caused by Dynamic Link as in "send to Encore" as seen here: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/543512?tstart=0 so, since then I haven't used Dynamic Link, I just export a video and then load that into Encore to make a quick web version.
This time when I tried to export, I got a "ProcessServer" error as seen here: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/388668?tstart=0 I shut down PP and re-started the machine and PP in hopes of continuing.  I also took a look at this thread: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/586853?tstart=0 along the way.
I can't figure out how to proceed.  What is weird is that I can load and edit away on the project without any problems, it edits fine.  It is only when I save the project and then try to re-open it that it will hang.  Could something be corrupting it on "save"??  How can I tell?   I have tried save, save as, save a copy... none work.
Vista 64, Core i7 940, nVidia QuadroFX1700, 8Gig Ram, PP CS4.2.1.  It is a 24PA widescreen timeline, it is a mix of footage 29.97 DV, Widescreen 24PA DV and uncompressed graphics created in AE.  Everything was either captured in PP or saved as Uncompressed out of AE.  No HD, no HDV, no MPEG, etc.
The last time this happened, I just re-edited the whole video since it was short.  I would prefer not to have to do that this time around.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

After more testing, I found that the files that I rendered from AE are all fine.  I was able to add them to a project and save, restart and render.
This leads me to believe that the project got corrupted in the process of editing or when exporting to media encoder.  As I mentioned the last time this happened, I feel like there is a bug with media encoder or dynamic link that can on some occasions corrupt a project.
Save early, often and with progressive file names.  Hope that helps if you are having this problem.

  • Why Dynamic Link to Encore when CUDA doesn't help Encore?

Ok, so I just finished cutting together a 90 minute video and used Dynamic Link to bring it to Encore. My source files were AVCHD and HDV mixed, so Encore had to transcode them. I attempted to do a transcode before burning, and got all the way to 99% in the transcode when I got an error message saying that I couldn't transcode the file because it was open in another program (I had closed PPro, but apparently it was still open?). Anyway, I tried hitting "build" and got the same error, again at 99%. So I went back to PPro and used it to export an mpeg2-dvd file which I then imported into Encore and burned to DVD.
Now, though I would appreciate some suggestions as to the source of my error when transcoding with Dynamic Link, that's not the root of my post... here it is: I'm not likely to use Dynamic Link again when Encore's (failed) transcode took nearly two hours for my 90 minute video, while doing a direct export from Premiere took only 40 minutes. I can only assume that the difference in time is because PPro is a) 64 bit, and b) can take advantage of the CUDA (I did all my CC and transitions using CUDA effects). Until Encore hits 64 bit and can take advantage of CUDA, I doubt I'll be using Dynamic Link again... anyone have any insight or comments?

I'm not sure that the information is correct.  Test project with dynamic link from PR to EN.  I right-clicked and picked transcode now.  Using windows task manager processes, the only programs using cpu are encore (60-80%) and premiere (10-20%). I happened to have AME open, but it was using zero.
I do not have a CUDA card, but I don't think it matters for this test.
I thought we had been told (probably in CS3 or CS4) that Encore was using ame, but this doesn't look like it.  What engine is actually doing the EN transcoding?  It certainly appeared to be running internally to Encore.  Is there any difference in how Encore is transcoding between using "transcode now" versus transcoding through "build"?

  • Dynamic Link in CC

Dynamic link is greyed out in CC? Do I need to activate it in come way.

If you are writing about DL to Encore... there is no EncoreCC so no Dynamic Link
CS6 is the final Encore http://www.adobe.com/products/encore/faq.html

  • After effects CC on maverick slow render because of PP CC Dynamic Link Footage

I put premiere pro CC edits in After Effects CC through dynamic Link every day. Since I upgraded my systems to Maverick and first installed the 12.0.1 and afterwards 12.1 the rendering of the After effects projects that have Dynamic Link Edits on the timeline slow down from 10 hours (in12.0 on Mountain Lion) to about 90 hours. When I replace the dynamic Link with a QT Movie, it renders about 10 hours again. It is normal that Dynamic link slows dow the rendering, but this is extreme and since this wasn't the case on Mountain Lion and 12.0 for the same project with the same dynamic link, not normal. I couldn't figure out what causes this. Is this Maverick on my 2008 Mac Pro ? is this a bug in 12.1 or dynamic link ? Or can I solve this with a simple setting somewhere in Maverick or AE ?

I'm was having the same issues, turned off "app nap" for premiere and after effects which has mostly fixed things.
The only thing now though is if I have a dynamic linked after effects composition within premiere and I have the after effects project open (that the composition came from) the dynamic linked comp within premiere won't play properly no matter what.
Tried everything I can find on the net - app nap, full screen full res rendering within after effects - that composition just won't play and take ages to render if the after effects project that it came from is open.
If I close the after effects project, the dynamically linked composition in premiere starts playing perfectly. Open the project in after effects and that dynamically linked comps stop playing. Any other dynamically linked comps from other AE sessions play fine within premiere (unless I open their original AE project!)
This used to work fine before - it was great to be able to have AE and premiere open together and make changes in AE then switch to premiere to see the changes update, watch the sequence to get context, then flick back to AE, make more changes etc.
Now I have to close the AE project, go to premiere, watch the sequence, open the AE project, make changes. When doing a few hundred adjustments over a week this can add considerable time to workflow!
Any ideas? Is this happening for you guys?

  • Adobe Encore CS6 crashes when using dynamic link

I'm trying to use encore for the first time to create a wedding DVD. I'm trying to use the dynamic link feature from premiere pro but whenever I use it (I've tried intiating it from both premiere and encore) it crashes. When starting it from premiere it crashes right away but using it from encore it crashes when I want to create a new timeline from the sequence. Is there a way to stop this from happening? Also I don't really want to have to render the premiere pro file since it's quite large but if I have to I will. Thank you

I filmed it from a HD camera.
I tried to dynamic link a much shorter clip but yet the same thing happened from both programs. I even tried to make a timeline from in Encore with nothing in it and it crashed.
EDIT: I redownloaded premiere pro with encore and it seems to work now. Thank you for all your help though. Much appreciated.

  • Dynamic Link Premiere to Encore CS4

I'm under the impression that each time you export from Premiere to Encore you have to start a new project. Am I correct? The only way to get your Premiere edits into Encore is to be in Encore and use the procedure =  File > Dynamic Link > Import from Premiere.  I have completed this step an I see  in my Encore Project Window a Premiere sequence, but it's not the current edits I did in Premiere. Form Premiere I do a File>Dynamic Link>Export to Encore routine. It creates a new project. I check the timeline in the new project and it is the updated edits I did in Premiere. But I can't get the updated edits into my old Encore project. How do I get my new Permiere edits into Encore project.

No, not correct.  But it is a bit hard to find in help.  someone added this comment on the help page below:
Director Jones: Just drag sequences from Premiere project window and drop into an existing encore project (or) Open your existing encore project and try "File->Adobe Dynamic Link->Import Premiere sequence" option.
