No video on distant end

I have been iChatting just fine until recently. Now, when I connect with a buddy, I see and hear them normally. But they can only hear me- no video on the distant end.
Photo Booth works normally until the moment of connection with my buddy. At that point, the Photo Booth light stays on but my image freezes on my end and no image is sent to my buddy.
This same condition applies even when I connect to the Apple test site, e.g., my Photo Booth light stays on and my image freezes.
Repaired Permissions, ran DiskWarrior, reset router and restarted without success.
Muses, guesses, and suggestions all most welcome.

Hi Harvey,
I am glad you found a solution.
Yes there was a workaround fix for iChat 2 that went like this.
Shut down the computer.
Unplug the internet connection.
Restart the computer
Restart iChat
Plug in the Internet connection again
This used to make sure no ports were being "held"
It also tened to take long enough that any DHCP server in the router or modem would issue new IPs and all would get sorted.
I would guess the thing you did was a similar thing in effect.

  • Hi, I'm using imovie 11, I want to delete a clip video at the end of the project, but keep the audio, everytime  I delete the video, the audio is also deleted, please help!

Hi, Excuse my English, I'm using imovie 11, I want to delete a clip video at the end of the project, but keep the audio over the fade to black, everytime  I delete the video, the audio is also deleted, please help!

I assume you are trying to end the clip/project with a fade to black, or something that just doesn't cut so instant.
One thing i'm thinking you can try is to Add a "Transition Clip" to the end, and try your first method. (with Detached Audio + Delete Selection. (Yellow highlight was deleted selection) Do you need something to end like this?
If you can, put screenshot up (Shift+Comm+4), if i'm not on the right idea. It seems like an easy fix, with a few ways of doing it. You can also add a blank image to end project, sub titles or Add,Cutaway fade +Opacity adjust.

  • I have an Iad2 and ever since ios6-there are issues.I get occasional lock-ups and have to reboot. The WSJ app freezes when running their videos to the end. The only work-around is to stop the video before it's over. Worse than windows me !!!!!

My Ipad2 worked perfectly before ios6 upgrade. It now freezes occasionally and I have to reboot to get it to work. Also the WSJ app will now freeze if I try and run one of their videos that is imbedded in the article. My only work-around is to stop (press done) before the end of the video or I have to do a total reboot. The problems remind me of Windows ME . Will Apple resolve these issues or become more like Microsoft. Hopefully there will be a restore button in the future like Microsoft was forced to do because a lot of upgrades are just terrible. Am I crazy or are there other people having the same issues with ios6, or could this just be a coincidence and my ipad2 is starting to fail just when ios6 arrives ?

I know this will not help but, the bluetooth headset I purchased for my wife works great and it pairs with our car and our sound bar in the livingroom (Motorola Droid Razr) 98.72.16.XT912.Verizon.en.US
However I did not upgrade over the air but from a android web site and placed it on my external sd card. I believe this made the difference in why we had no issues and upgraded functionality has been great.
Please note when I mention these bluetooth devices I mean the Razr connects with no problems.
It also had no internet issues and none of the problems others have complained about in other threads.
unfortunately when you say thousands have these issues I cannot say that is accurate. The hope is when large numbers of owners have updated to the Jelly Bean and are complaining inmase then Motorola will issue a patch to verizon to get out to the affected users.
Of course now that Google owns Motorola Mobility and has laid off loads of workers it may never issue an os patch.

  • Listener for when a video reaches its end?

Almer Blank put this tutorial out awhile ago: http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flash/articles/video_osmf/popup08.html
It depicts how to determine if a video has reached the end. It looks like the TraitEvent doesn't exist anymore. Is there a listener to can attach to the MediaPlayer to determine when the video has played out its entire duration?

    Duh! Problem Resolved.
    mediaPlayer.addEventListener(TimeEvent.COMPLETE, onComplete);

  • IChat 5.0.1 no audio when video chatting (one end only)

    Hello,
I have a Early Mac Mini Core Duo 1.66Ghz with OS 10.6.2. iChat version 5.0.1.
I am using a compatible webcam (Logitech Quickcam Pro 5000). I have full video and audio until I start a video chat.
The logitech Quickcam is selected in both the system preferences and the iChat preferences as the audio in source. I get visual feedback that the sound is being heard by the mini in both the system preferences and iChat. Sound-in is working.
We are trying to connect to a iChat 3 user using a iMac Dual Core 2 Duo. I do not remember the CPU speed.
The microphone check is on under the video menu. In the iChat preferences the audio indicator moves showing sound in.
The problem starts after we actually make a video chat connection. I can both see and hear the user on the iMac. However, the iMac user can only see me. As soon as the video connection is made, my sound indicator goes dead (no sound input showing) and the Microphone enabled menu option under the Audio menu is grayed out.
If I close the video chat and start an audio chat only, both ends can hear each other.
This is the same issue when trying to use a intel mac mini 1.5Ghz Core Solo and trying video chat with the iMac Core 2 Duo user. I am not able to verify that both intel Mac Mini's can see and hear each other as we only have one 10.6.2 webcam that works. Our other two only are recognized as a microphone.

Solved the issue on the mac mini 1.66 core duo. Still using the Quickcam 5000, but paired up a bluetooth headset to use as a microphone. That allowed video and audio to be sent from my end. Both parties could hear and see one another. Switched the sound input from the headset back to the Quickcam microphone and it worked. To make sure, I turned off bluetooth. I can now use video chat will video and sound using the Quickcam's built-in mic.

  • Using FaceTime with macbook pro and no video on other end

I can see and hear the person on the onther end but they can't see me. The green light next to the camera is on and I can see myself in the facetime window.

    Welcome to the forum.
You did not tell us about your system's I/O, i.e. the HDD's, their size, speed, free space, controller type and how you have them allocated.
Now, how to you get the material from PrPro to Nero?
Have you tried the great authoring program, Adobe Encore? It ships with PrPro and is a wonderful program for authoring DVD's.
As a starter, I would Export as elemental/elementary streams, i.e. non-muxed, video-only and audio-only, and then Import the video-only file into Encore as a Timeline, and the audio-only file as an Asset. From the Project Panel (looks about like the one in PrPro), just drag your audio-only file to the appropriate Timeline, where it snaps into place.
Encore ships and installs with a bunch of Functional Content: Menus, Buttons, etc., and these can be easily accessed and brought into the Project from the Library Panel. You can then Edit in Photoshop for about anything that you would want.
As for why Nero might be messing up, I have never even seen that module in Nero. Maybe others can help.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Odd problems exporting videos: dropped frames, end glitches

Having some strange things happening on the work computer (which is a pre-intel MacPro running Leopard and latest version of FCP). In the last couple of weeks we've been having a lot of files that we're trying to export (by either directly playing them or "Print to Video" via Firewire to a Sony DV/Cam deck, which in turn passes it through to a Beta machine). The videos have been freezing up or giving "Dropped Frame" error messages. To combat the problem I've exported the videos (usually 10 minutes in length) to Quicktime Movie file, and then ran that file (thus making it one big file instead of 40 or so cuts/insertions, etc).
Dropped Frames ceased to be a problem, and it plays smoothly...but now when we get to the end, we get a weird white glitch. Figured it might want a fade out to smooth out the end of the file (even though it already had a fade out) but now the file is freezing up right before it gets to the fade out.
The really odd thing is, it looks and acts fine when I play from 5 seconds or so before the end of the clip. It's only playing it in its entirety that the end acts up.
I'm at my wit's end figuring out options. I've rebuilt permissions, restarted the computer, done a disc utility diagnostic/repair disc. I've deleted the preferences for FCP.
    Open to any suggestions!
    Thanks

No, I'm not using assembly mode.
The really odd and frustrating thing is that haven't done anything different that I haven't done with hundreds of similar projects. But all of a sudden things are happening (mentioned the dropped frames problem in case it is linked. Increasingly I've been having projects stop printing/playing due to dropped frames with no consistent possible reason, in terms of materials used, transitions, hard drive, etc.). No change of equipment or software (other than updates).
My boss complained about the white 'glitch' happening a couple months or so ago, and thought it was due to forgetting to do a fade-out at the end, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

  • Large still panorama in cs6 video clipped on ends

Windows 7  and PS CS6.  I am trying to use the motion effect "PAN"  in PS CS6 but the image is large.  7364 x 1080.  It pans but clips the ends.  The image in the timeline has a slider at the bottom, I take that to mean the image is to wide for the video frame.  How can I use the pan effect in PS cs6 to pan a large panorama ??  I tried splitting the image but the seperate images are not a smooth single image.
initial image was 1.93 gigs as a 16 bit tiff,  converted to jpeg 7364 x 1080.
    Thanks

if you want to do a pan using the video of a pano, you should crop your image to the size you want your final video, but don't use the crop that deletes pixels - there's a check box in the menu bar for this.  I don't have PS in front of my right now, so I'm going by memory.  In the time line, make sure the play head is at the beginning of your movie.  Then open up the boxes on the left.  There should be a series of stopwatches.  Click on the one that is for movement or transforming - I can't remember offhand what's it's called.  Once you do that, move your playhead to the end of the timeline, then use the move tool to move your pano to the other end.  A new key frame will appear marking the end of your "move."  you should be able to play your movie after that and have it pan.

  • Trying to preserve video quality in end result

Hi, my big question is re the problem of quality reduction in the final product, say a disc image. Even though the video is short, just 1/2 hour (no stills), during "processing" it becomes grainier and loses color saturation. Is there no way to keep the video from being compressed? What if you had 5 minutes of video to put on an 8GB DVD? No way to retain full sharpness and color?
I tried dropping the star icon from iMovie onto iDVD's window -- it looked great in Preview, but after making the disc image it is sadly not the same. I had changed the iDVD settings from Best Quality to Best Performance, per suggestions I found here. When I did that it did seem to somewhat increase the pre-burn size-estimate in iDVD -- but nowhere near enough, apparently.
Oh, and there is 57GB free space on the internal start-up HD.
I also tried following instructions to share the video from iMovie using "Full Quality" QT -- that was REALLY terrible - blurry as heck.
I've been coming up against this problem with footage from camera and also from other sources; same problem.
OK, now for full disclosure, I am using iMovie 5.0.2 -- I also have 6.0.3, but kept forgetting to switch. From what I "hear" around here, it does not seem that switching to 6.0.3 will solve my problem. BUT if there are big advantages I would like to do it. Should I just start up 6.0.3 and open the project in that version, or are there other things I need to do first?
    thanks.

    Hello, Tassia,
I will give it a go.
First, quality of your final product depends on several things. What is the quality of the video you start with? If you have poor quality video footage, say from an old vhs tape, you cannot expect superior quality results.
(However, most vhs footage looks better after being converted to digital format video).
Second, where are you viewing the footage to determine its quality? You cannot judge by just looking at it in iMovie because iMovie's resolution is very low, not what you will get from viewing an iDVD on a TV. It will look darker and fuzzier than on a burned DVD played on TV. Same for disk image file.
You need to burn the project to DVD and then view it on an interlaced standard TV before making a judgment on quality.
For iMovie 6 and DVD, using video footage in DV format ensures a lossless process.
Sharing your iM6 movie as Full Quality QT is also lossless. It may look less sharp when you view it on your computer or in iMovie, but if you export it back to your camcorder, it is as sharp as the original.
Re: iDVD settings...Best Performance is for projects that are less than 60 minutes total content, including menus. Best Quality can be used for the shorter movies also, but it is for content 60 minutes and over, up to 120 minutes. These are for single-layer DVDs. The time limits double if you are burning to dual layer DVDs.
It probably doesn't matter if you are using iM5 vs 6. You should be able to open an iM5 project with iM6. Yes, I would try that.

  • New user; no video from my end of call (modern Win...

A friend and I both attempted an inaugural Skype call last night.  I could see and hear her; she could hear but not see me.  There was a white camera (not video) icon with a white diagonal slash, in a gray box.
I'm running Windows Pro 8.1 on a Lenovo Thinkpad T430 with an integrated webcam.  Skype came preinstalled on my laptop.
After reading some troublehooting suggestions on this site, I uninstalled Skype (online version?) by removing the tile.  (Skype did not show up as a program under Control Panel so I could not uninstall it like I'm used to removing programs.)
Then I downloaded the special version of Skype.  It did not work (can't recall the details).
From Firefox, I installed the desktop version, went into Tools, Options, General, Video Settings.  Again, a white camera (not video) icon with a white diagonal slash, in a gray box.
When I go into the Windows Device Manager, Imaging device, Integrated Camera, General tab, it shows the message, "This device is working properly."
Today I uninstalled the Skype desktop, reinstalled Skype for Windows 8 (again, this appears to be an online version not a desktop version), activated the charms along the right border of my screen, clicked Settings (gear icon), Options, Video, Camera, Integrated Camera . . . that same white camera (not video) icon with a white diagonal slash, in a gray box is present.
I suspect there is some simple setting that I need to change to make my video show up on the screens of people whom I Skype.  I just don't know what it is.
Any more suggestions?  I've followed the suggestions for downloading new drivers, I've restarted my laptop, I've tried some of the other suggestions I found on a list.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I think I found the answer on the Lenovo Support app, Knowledge Base.  I've copied the 10/23/2013 answer and pasted it below:
Some customers have reported that the front camera of Helix is not longer active following an application update, and most recently after updating to Windows 8.1
This grey picture with the Crossed Camera is the privacy mode of the "Lenovo Settings App".
You have to deactivate it in the Settings App under the "Camera" tab.
AnswerSome updates may toggle the front camera to privacy mode.  To check this, open the Lenovo settings app on your desktop, and then click the camera settings
LearningCurve comment: I followed these instructions, the Crossed Camera icon is now gone, and there I am on video, live.  When my friend gets home and is available to answer my Skype video call, that will be the true test.

  • No video on our end

Just tried skype on xbox one. We could see them but they could not see us. The lower right hand mini screen is completely green. When I go into kinect settings, it works in there. Thoughts?

If you see completely green for your own video, then there is an issue with the Kinect sensor (that quite often is only an apparent issue in Skype). You may be able to recover from this by simply disconnecting and reconnecting the sensor from the console. However, you may need to power down and restart your console.

  • I download videos and they end up as jpg files.

When I first got my imac (3 days ago) i could double click a video and it went to the downloads folder. Now it just opens in a new window and i can't download videos. If I drag it to the download folder all i get is a jpg image and no video file. I'd like to have the double click send the video to the downloads folder.

Using the "original" setting is the correct way to do it.  Select on of the photos and use the File ➙ Reveal in Finder ➙ Original menu option.  That will take you to the file inside the library via the Finder.  Confirm that what you see if the raw file.
If it is then try the following:  make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home()/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
         User/Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.

  • How do you rotate a video and not end up with a jittery video?

I have PSE 9 and Premiere Elements 9. My computer has Windows 7 and has 6 Gig of Ram. I took some video with my camera turned sideways to get a better view. When I rotate it in Premiere Elements 9, the video is real jittery. When I have rotated video in Premiere Elements 7 the video played just fine.

My camera is a Canon Power Shot SX100. In the past I have rotated short films clips from this camera on the Premiere Elements that went with PSE 7. However, my computer was a desktop using Windows XP with only a gig of memory.
I can rotate the film clip using ROXIO's software but I cannot convert it to use with a project I am hoping to make with Premiere Elements.
I am not sure what the Project Preset is. I just opened to create a Project. I was hoping to combine some still photos in a slide show with a couple of short film clips.
Thanks for trying to help me.

  • Blurred video & garbled sound on one end of ichat

I have been video chatting with my son for a couple of years with excellent audio/video. I was using a MAC G4 dual 1GHZ tower. I recently switched to an intel mac mini. I also have a mac book pro 17 inch. Ever since switching to my intel macs, my video is blurred and my audio garbled on his end. His video and audio remains excellent on my end. I am using the same isight camera as before. My ichat bandwidth limit is set at 1 Mbps (I have tried other settings with no improvement). I have a comcast cable connection and have tested down (3138) and up (1530) speeds. I am using an airport express but have tried a direct connection to the mini with no improvement. Strangely, My macbook pro A/V using the built-in cam gives the same results exactly. Quicktime streaming is set on 1 Mbps cable. No changes have been made on the distant end. Any ideas on this?
Mac Min 1.83 GHZ Intel Duo Core   Mac OS X (10.4.9)   512 MB RAM

You kind of lost me there. I have nothing even close to your example of HTTP://myip.dk/. My IP address consists of nine digits. I have no problem connecting to the internet. When I am not using ichat, download/upload speeds are what I have had all along regardless of G4 or duo core. While I don't normally do it, I can use both my macbook Pro and my mini connected at the same time and maintain good internet speeds. When either the mini or the mac book pro launches ichat, then internet speeds suffer and ichat video is blurred. My ISP has never been interested in any device beyond my cable modem. I normally use an airport express but direct connection to the cable modem does not change results.
