No video on espn

We had the same problem with ESPN (HD or regular broadcast) last night with the Giants vs Nationals baseball game feed.  Audio but NO Video.  The SFvNATs Game was blacked-out on our MLB channels, and other devices (IPAD, IPHONE, etc.)  Comcast Tech Support could NOT find the problem with the feed and has NO WAY of contacting ESPN or MLB.  We called ESPN directly, but they just said they would check in to the problem. We finally got to the game (in the 5th inning) using the internet and our AppleTV box to stream the game (in HD) directly from ESPN.  Makes you wonder where Cable TV is going to end up........

  • Embed a video from espn onto iweb?

I'm trying to embed a story i did on espn.com onto my iweb website. They have a thing on it that says share then gives you all the codes to embed (see below) but then when I click on the widget HTML widget it doesnt work. Help!
    <object width="384" height="216" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" id="ESPN_VIDEO" data="http://espn.go.com/videohub/player/embed.swf" allowScriptAccess="always" allowNetworking="all"><param name="movie" value="http://espn.go.com/videohub/player/embed.swf" /><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"/><param name="wmode" value="opaque"/><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"/><param name="allowNetworking" value="all"/><param name="flashVars" value="id=5768918"/></object>

I tried it and it worked.
When you paste in in make sure you click the "apply" button on the lower right.
I got some sort of flash error pop-up, but went ahead and published it and it worked when viewed in the site.

  • Espn videos won't play

Hi. any videos on espn won't play for me. I can watch youtube videos, NHL.com, NFL.com videos, etc. but not on espn. I have the latest version of shockwave. What happens is I get either an image instead of the video or just a black screen. If I right mouse click I don't see any adobe options to use. The only addon I have is adblock which I completely removed and that didn't help so I put it back on.

  • Can't Watch ESPN Videos

I cannot view videos on ESPN but I can see them on You Tube.  How do I fix this?

Chrome has its own Flash Player plugin, (Windows or Mac), and it is updated & maintained by Google.
If you go to: Mac HD/Library/Application Support/Google/Chrome there is a folder called PepperFlash.
Trash it and empty the trash.
Relaunching Chrome should force a rebuild of the Flash Plugins in that folder. If it doesn't, update Chrome from the menu (Chrome>About Chrome).
    It should work after that.

  • Video Podcasts won't sync to iTouch with iTunes 9.0.1.8

There's obviously a bug in iTunes where some video podcasts (ESPN Mike & Mike, ESPN PTI Big Finish for example) do not sync. I get an error saying they are not copied to the iTouch because they cannot be played on this iPod - which is most likely not true. What's going on? Anyone know of a fix or having similar issues?

That's not a bug in iTunes. The message tells you what the problem is - those videos cannot be played on the iPod. That's because they are not in the correct format. My iTunes message actually said the "format was not supported".
There are two options: try converting the video for iPod use. Highlight the video, one at a time, and click on *Advanced/Create iPod or iPhone version.* Each conversion takes quite a while.
The other option (possibly the better one) is to email the Podcast producers to let them know that their video Podcats cannot be played on an iPod. They may not know! I had a look on the PTI website and they seem keen to provide Podacst Feeds for iTunes. This is not quite the same as providing for an iPod.
Podcast producers have been known to issue videos that play in iTunes (via Quicktime), but not on iPods. So if you do email them, let them know where you got the Feed (that is, how you subscribed/downloaded - via iTunes or via their website and iTunes) and detail exactly what doesn't happen.
I've just tried downloading episodes from each of the programmes you mention and they do both fail to transfer to my iPod. But as I said, it's not a bug and it is true. As portable media players (of which iPods are just one type) have evolved, so have the video standards and now some formats simply cannot be played on some devices.
    Good luck.

  • My mac keeps crashing while watching video online

I am new to using a Mac, but it keeps crashing while watching online video (netflicks, espn ect.) while on battery power. Battery
power is sufficient when this happens. I cannot restart until I plug back into power. Any advice would be appreciated.

Try using Disk Utility to do a Disk Repair, as shown in this link, while booted up on your install disk.  You could have some directory corruption. Let us know what errors Disk Utility reports and if DU was able to repair them.
Disk Utility's Disk Repair is not perfect and may not find or repair all directory issues. A stronger utility may be required to finish the job.
After that Repair Permissions. No need to report Permissions errors....we all get them.

  • Videos will not play in Safari

I have an iPhone 3GS on the 3.1.2 OS, and cannot get videos to play in Safari. I've tried watching videos on ESPN's mobile site, as well as the TV Ads for the iPhone on Apple's website, and all that shows up is a screen full of code. Any assistance is much appreciated.

The iPhone will only play H264/Quicktime video and you're trying to watch Flash based video which is not supported. But just check the javascript option is ticked in the safari options.
    There is no workaround.
If you search the forum for 'flash' you will see plenty of threads on the subject. Flash will probably never be supported for the reasons therein - plenty to read up.

  • Music and videos start playing fine but randomly stop and the volume bar disappears

I have an iPhone 4S and run 6.1.3.  I start to play music or videos (youtube, ESPN, Netflix, any) and they start to play fine but then randomly stop.  The volume bar disappears as well.  But then it reappears and I can play it again.  When I do so it plays about 30 seconds, sometimes less, and pauses again.  I have to repeat the process.  Any idea how to fix or what might be causing the problem?

    Try a reset:
    - hold both the home button and sleep/wake button down at the same time
    - the iPhone will turn off(keep holding) but as soon as you see the apple logo appear release both buttons
Also make sure none of the LCI have been set off especially the one in the charging dock of the iPhone. Read the article below for help in checking this:

  • Playing Video on the web in Safari

Is there a way to watch video's on the iTouch in Safari other than YouTube? Such as video on espn.com, yahoo.com, etc...Is it just Quicktime player and the video has to use that particular media player, or can a flash player or another media playe be downloaded on the iTouch for viewing?

The video needs to be in a format the iPod touch can handle. No additional software can be added to it until the iPhone SDK comes out in February 2008. Using a webapp doesn't modify the iPod touch's software configuration.

flash player not working.  can't watch video and can't upload pics to facebook

thanks for helping.  I have windows 7, internet explorer.  recently had to replace my hard drive, and compete reinstall of all software so still a few bugs on settings, ect.  not seeing any error messages.  video and uploading pics seemed to be fine until the last week.  not sure what could have changed .  I can still look at PDF ect, I'm not positive its the Adobe that is messed up, but the 2 things I'm having problems with, clicking on and watching video on espn.com and not uploading pics to Facebook, both just does nothing when I try them.  no errors, just black screen where its suppose to play or upload.  the trouble shooting for both sites say make sure to have the latest version of flash player, so thats why I assume something is wrong with Adobe.  when I do the self scan from this site it says I have the latest version.  my settings say the player is enabled

  • Emac ati verson slow video

i have an emac ati 32mb version running tiger 10.4.9 with all the updates. when i go to cnet.com or espn.com and i play video it is very choppy. When i do it on my pc it is very fast. i am using safari on the mac. I tried to find the latest ati radeon 7500 drivers for the mac thinking that might help but nothing. Please i need help with this. BTW i have 768MB of pc133 ram. Please let me know if anyone needs more info. Is it a codecs problem or should i just use another browser. My screen resoulution is 1280 x 960. Thanks in advance.

    Hi
If you control click (or right click if you have a two button or mighty mouse) on one of the videos at espn or cnet you should see a small drop down menu:
It should include 'Settings' (not much use as far as I can see... not for viewing video anyway). And you should see "About FlashPlayer 9".
Installling Flash Player 9/Shockwave 10 may help. That said I have just played the Mohammed Ali video from espn on a MacBook and a 32mb iMac (with 1gb RAM). This is on a Lan connection with a maximum of 1.5mbs. The video was smooth on the MacBook and a little little choppy on the eMac.
Download the latest Flash and Shockwave plug ins from adobe.com and see if these improves your video playback. If you do not have Flip 4 Mac installed, ytou could try this too(http://www.flip4mac.com/), though I am sure that espn and cnet both use FlashPlayer files.
Let us know how you get on.

  • Program that captures/records source of streaming video?

    Product: HiDownload (PC Windows only)
    Product website: http://www.hidownload.com/
Hi -- this program essentially picks up the stream source if you are watching a video (For example, a speech being covered by CNN, videos on ESPN, FOXNEWS,MSNBC, CNN, etc.)
It worked really well when I used a PC, but now that I have a mac I can't find an equivalent for this. Anyone know of a program like this for Apple?

  • Long time Windows User:  Viewing Video

    Hi All,
I am not able to view linked videos on certain sites with Safari...the biggest site being CNN.com. When clicking on a "video story" it says I don't have the necessary plug-in and need to get Windows Media Player. I have downloaded both Windows Media Player 9 and Flip4Mac when WMP didn't work. I am still not able to view these videos. Can someone tell me what I might be doing wrong or is it just not possible to access some things? I have no issues viewing video on ESPN.com. I just downloaded the VLC player after getting rid of WMP 9 and Flip4Mac - would that maybe work?
    Thanks,
    JPA

    Hi JPA!
Yes in addition to the great insight from w2*** here's a short list of "essentials" you will need for your Mac:
    Flip4Mac
    VLC
    Firefox/Camino
    RealPlayer (maybe?)
You will have times when Safari can't play some of the things that Firefox/Camino can. Nothing you can do about it. It lies in the hands of the webdesigners. Many people (including myself) use Safari and open up Firefox/Camino when they run into a problem. You need Flip4Mac to play WinMedia content. WinMedia Player is outdated and will never be native on your Intel machine...the future is Flip4Mac so I would suggest that. If you encounter RealPlayer format you need RealPlayer. And VLC can pretty much play anything...so that's always handy. But as for viewing video on webpages Flip4Mac and your Quicktime player will probably do the most good. And Flash which you have a version of it already on your Mac. CNN always works for me but there are reports from time to time about it...you do need Flip4Mac for CNN...
    Hope that helps too,
    Reg
