No video on pavilion 6520f

I have a 6520f that was purchased as a refurb by hp. It appears the the on board video chip has crashed. I recieved the blue screen warning re garding harm to my computer because of system problem then a reboot. I restored the system to factory and proceded. This lasted about a week then the same problem again. I did another system restore f11. And now it will not display any video. I tried to install a vid card hoping to solve this issue no results.

Without any video, it’s pretty hard to proceed…
It sounds like you’ve already been inside the unit if you replaced your video card, so if you’re comfortable poking around inside: I’d verify everything is seated properly, and clean.  Check all power supply connections, the seating on your DIMM modules, seating of any add-in cards, and connections of your drive to the disk, etc.
If that doesn’t show much, the next step would determine whether the system is running enough to, say, at least enter BIOS (F10, I suspect). If you can’t get into BIOS, you might have a more fundamental issue, like a power supply issue.

  • Connecting Hi8mm Video to Pavilion M9485a

I have an 8mm video camera with Audio L and Audio R plus S-Video out cables.
I connected them to the back of  my Pavilion Elite m9485a PC
= zip response.  I tried to configure through MS Media Centre but nothing there either.
Question:  how do I connect the Video camera / what do I do, so that I can record the video from camera  to my PC?
Camera is a Hitachi H80E with Digital Signal Processor (if that helps).
    Cheers

    Understood, many thanks, Terminator.
There are many opinions online that 'firewire to USB' adapters often prove unsatisfactory, so I will go for the card option.
Now to find someone to install it!
Thanks for your advice, which is greatly appreciated.

    Hi:
Here is a trick you can use to get the graphics to work on that chipset when using windows 7.
It will only work on W7 32 bit
You will not have Windows Aero but everything else should function just fine.
Download and run this vista driver.  You will get an unsupported operating system error.
    http://h20565.www2.hp.com/portal/site/hpsc/template.PAGE/public/psi/swdDetails/?sp4ts.oid=447348&spf...
Close out of any error windows.
Go to the device manager, click to expand the Display Adapters category.
Click on the Standard VGA Adapter.  Click on the driver tab, click on Update Driver.  Select the Browse my computer for driver software method, and browse to the driver folder that was created when you ran the file.
That folder will be located in C:\SWSetup\sp34749.  Make sure the Include Subfolders box is checked and the driver should install.
After you reboot, you should be able to change the screen resolution and have graphics acceleration enabled.
Just no Aero.  That GPU cannot run windows aero in vista either.

  • Choppy Video on Pavilion 9300t

I had the hard drive on my 9300t desktoop replaced along with a reinstall of Windows Vista 32bit. Since then, I have a problem with choppy video. If I start a video game, video is fine for about a minute then it gets choppy and it's impossible to run the game.
The same thing happens when I try to watch a TV program using Media Center.
I had no trouble with video before the hard drive replacement and Vista install.
I am using a GeForce 9500 graphics card whch had worked fine. It has the latest driver update from GeForce.
It seems that a video buffer is overloading after a minute of video use.
    Can anyone help???

    Hi,
The specifications for HP 9300t PC indicate it has a 350 watt power supply.
Review this posted document for background information.
These HP 'how-to" articles should be helpful.
The following video cards should work depening on your specific video ouput port requirements:
    NVIDIA GT 430
NVIDIA GT 630   --> one of these cards is double width so it might not fit depending on what is in the adjacent slot
NVIDIA GT 640 --> see my above comments about double wide cards.
    NVIDIA GT 640
The ASUS GT 440 1GB DDR5 will work with a 300 watt power supply. This is a double wide card but has the best performance.

How can I access my hard drive. I used to be able to with my wireless network, but with no monitor, I can't seem to log in.
    I have an ethernet cable.
    Any ideas?

    Hi @JosieJake
If you are just looking to access the contents of your hard drive, it is possible, depending on what you have available.

  • My Pavillion dv9700 notebook won't boot unless I first...

My Pavillion notebook won't boot unless I first boot to a cd. Here's the problem:
I have a dv9700 notebook. It wouldn't power up. A local shop said I needed a new motherboard. I ordered one and installed it. Now when I try to boot it gets to the part where the hard drive starts to spin and suddenly shuts down only to power up again and endlessly continue this loop. I have found that if I first boot to a bootable cd and then at the cd menu choose "Start Windows" instead of "Boot to cd" the computer will start Widows Vista and run normally.
I have reseated the RAM and tried only one card at a time and switched slots. The BIOS is up to date. I have booted on ac adapter only. Battery only. Tried another ac adapter.
The BIOS hard drive diagnostic fails, showing no hard drive installed. I have tried the hard drive in a USB enclosure. It read fine. I have tried another hard drive in this computer, still reboots over and over.
I can't figure out why I need to boot to a CD first then switch to Windows Vista on the hard drive.
    Any ideas? Thanks

  • Video Card and PSU upgrade for HP pavilion p6310y?

    Hello,
I am a mild gamer and I would like to upgrade my video card so I could play games like minecraft and maplestory without my frame rate dropping every 5-10 min.  When this happens it sounds like the fan in my computer is working really hard and the game is almost unplayable.  I also play a few games from steam such as Gmod and Borderlands, however the games that seem less graphic intensive give me more problems.
Should I and am I able to upgrade the video card and psu for this HP pavilion p6310y?  or possibly get a better card for these game without upgrading psu?
Processor is Quade core AMD Athlon II X4 630 / 2.8 GHz
    6gigs of ram
    1 tb harddrive
    NVIDIA GeForce 9100
    300 watt power supply
    Windows 7 64 bit
Any help would be much appreciated!

    Hi,
Yuo might try updating the video driver from the NVIDIA web site.
Your PC has a 300 watt power supply.  If you don't need DirectX 11 (used for better detail in newer games), then the NVIDIA GT 240 1GB or 512 MB DDR5 is about tops for a 300 watt power supply.

  • Another video card/PSU upgrade for HP Pavilion p6565uk

    Hi there
I want to upgrade from the basic Nvidia card and 300W psu provided with my HP Pavilion P6565UK, purchased a few months ago.
I am looking at either a Corsair CX 600W or an Antec HCG-750W, I am not sure if there is a difference, and an EVGA Nvidia superclocked GTX550Ti card.
I am however really not technically minded and I am not sure how to go about making sure that these products will be suitable before I purchase them.
    I have 3D gaming in mind (I have a 120hz screen) as I am a Warcraft player.
Hope someone can help point me in the right direction or hold my hand as I am hopeless with stuff like this!

    Hi,
You might have issues getting the Antec HCG-750W to fit.  Do some measuring and see it will fit, particularly the distance between the power supply and the optical drive.  I have see where PSUs of 750 and greater have failed to work in some HP PC's.
Go with the Corsair CX600 or the CX500.
I noticed that EVGA has lowered the PSU requirements for some video cards.  Look at this information for the 550 TI superclocked.

  • CAN I UPGRADE MY VIDEO CARD ON MY LAPTOP? I'M USING HP PAVILION DV4-1125NR

I'M PLANNING TO UPGRADE MY LAPTOP SINCE MANY SOFTWARE GAMES REQUIRES HIGHER VIDEO CARD. IS IT POSSIBLE TO UPGRADE MY VIDEO CARD? I'M USING HP PAVILION DV4-1125NR.

Not possible Unfortunately...all cards nowadays are built in only
It was possible in the old days
but laptop manufacturers found it more "profitable" to make it not, this way the user will have to buy a new laptop every few years.
there are some third party solutions but they aren't effective really

  • Graphics/Video Card [REPLACEMENT / UPGRADE] on HP Pavilion Desktop - Help

    I have the following:
    HP Pavilion Elite m9152p Desktop
Upgraded to Windows 7 Professional 64-bit (upgraded 11-2009)
The video card seems to have gone out and I have tried the following:
    Reinstalling Operating system
Uninstalled & Reinstalled & Rollback drivers
Prior to the above attempts, no changes had been made to software or hardware only leading to the same result: The video seems to be fine and then it freezes and crashes and ultimately has to have a hard-restart at which point, the computer loads the onboard video/graphics.
I need to purchase a replacement video/graphics card, but I am unsure what specs I need to be aware of or what my computer can handle as far as a replacement and maybe a possible upgrade (not necessary) - any help in this regard would be most appreciated.
    Thanks!

I think it is a good choice.
The reviews seem positive for the most part including that the fan appears to be quiet.
I don't know if your previous card had HDMI.
When you install your new video card, it may disable your onboard audio due to the HDMI audio chip on the video card.
If you do lose your onboard audio, after you install the video drivers, reboot the machine, go into the BIOS, find the onboard audio setting. It may be set to Auto or Disabled. Change the setting to Enabled. Save the setting where you made the change and again when you exit the BIOS.
Upon reboot you will have your onboard audio back.
Looking forward to hearing back from you.

  • How connect a 27 cinema display to HP Pavilion with VGA video output

how connect a 27 cinema display to HP Pavilion with VGA video output

If it is a thunderbolt version of the apple 27" display, you don't.  The TB displays can only work with a TB source.
I also think you are out of luck with the mini-displayport versions of the apple 27" as well.   This would imply converting an analog VGA output  to a digital input of the 27".  I suspect that there is not enough data supplied by VGA for that to work and I do not believe any adapters exist for this.

  • Hdmi video and audio for hp pavilion dv6 1050us does not work

I'm trying to use my hp pavilion dv6 1050us notebook with a TV Philips model 40PFL8605D using a HDMI cable but nothing function: can't get the image displayed at computer on the TV display. The HDMI cable  and the same TV were tested using a ASUS notebook and everything worked all rigth: video and sound. Then I concluded that the only possible source of problem is my HP pavilion dv6 1050us notebook.
    Can I get some help?

    Hi (:
I frequently play The Sims 3, I have all, but myabe 3, extensions. And I have a Pavilion dv6-6c15nr Entertainment PC. Now I was wondering, is this a bad idea?  Occassionally, my games will freeze and even just completely glitch within the game, sometimes unallowing me to save. It's very frustrating, especially when you get so far. My question is would it be better to just get a gaming pc and leave this one to surfing the web and doing school work? Or is this one good, and can I download or buy something to help my computer maintain or improve its performance?
