No video on projector in OS X, works fine in Boot Camp

Had to help a person today with a MacBook Pro (2.16Ghz. OS X 10.5) who could not make the laptop work with a projector using an Apple DVI to VGA adapter. The MacBook Pro didn't not recognize the projector and the projector could not recognize the laptop, no signal no video. Boot the same laptop in to Windows via Boot Camp, and the laptop and projector work great. Reboot back in to OS X, and it ceases to function. ??? Any ideas ???
Thanks! :^)

Yes and there is no change from the laptop or projector. Tried booting up with the projector on and connected and also connecting the projector after boot, and no change in behavior either way.
Thanks!

well i'd seriosly say point a hot hair drier at the speakers as water has entered the phone most commonly via the home button but avoid getting it too hot let it cool every 3 minutes after constant drying. Don't worry I have honestly dont this with my iPhone 4 GSM 16GB. For future reference avoid letting it get wet.

You may need a 3rd party application to view the DVD in a wWindows format such as

I wanted to watch it on our MacBook for sound and clarity, and every time I accessed it, it locked up. To the point that the only solution was holding down the power button.
Everything else worked, and I could freely enter information and open other Facebook entries, but when hitting the "play" button or clicking on the video it immediately bought up the spinning beach ball, and would never clear. Any solutions?

Did you try viewing the video in a different browser? Firefox or Chrome maybe?

I can't get my apple magic mouse to work on my boot camp, running Windows 7 Ultimate on my early 2011 macbook pro with latest Marveric OS........ It works perfectly on the Apple ,

Not sure if this will help anyone, but I had trouble installing on 10.8.
I then found this particular support page:

Be patient with the download, it takes some time ... When it has downloaded, follow the install instructions. It works well.

Premiere Pro CC has been working fine until today.  I have completed my sequence and it is active.  I have both audio and video checked when I am exporting using H.264 with Match Source Hi bitrate.  I am choosing entire sequence.  The audio exports but the video and title does not.  Can anyone tell me how to troubleshoot this so I can complete this project?  Please!

    Greetings,
I've never seen this issue, and I handle many iPads, of all versions. WiFi issues are generally local to the WiFi router - they are not all of the same quality, range, immunity to interference, etc. You have distance, building construction, and the biggie - interference.
At home, I use Apple routers, and have no issues with any of my WiFi enabled devices, computers, mobile devices, etc - even the lowly PeeCees. I have locations where I have Juniper Networks, as well as Aruba, and a few Netgears - all of them work as they should.
The cheaper routers, Linksys, D-Link, Seimens home units, and many other no name devices have caused issues of various kinds, and even connectivity.
I have no idea what Starbucks uses, but I always have a good connection, and I go there nearly every morning and get some work done, as well as play.
You could try changing channels, 2.4 to 5 Gigs, changing locations of the router. I have had to do all of these at one time or another over the many years that I have been a Network Engineer.
    Good Luck - Cheers,
    M.

  • .exe projector file for PC works fine, but extracted .hqx for Mac won't open when on CD

I'm using Flash MX, AS 2, Projector 6, working on a PC.
I saved two versions of my project -- one .exe for Windows and one .hqx for Mac.  The .exe works fine when burned onto a CD.  When opening the .hqx from a CD on a Mac, I got a message that the file is on a locked volume.  I discovered that the reason for this is that an .hqx is essentially a zipped file which has to be extracted, and when a file is extracted, the unzipped files are written onto the same location as the original.  When the original files are on a CD, Stuffit (Mac's zip extractor program) can't write onto that location.
[So if anyone at Adobe looks at these forum posts, let me say that I think its absolutely ridiculous that the Mac version of Flash's projector files have to be extracted in order to be viewed!]
To get around this problem, I saved the .hqx on my PC, put it on a portable hard drive and brought it over to a Mac (because Stuffit for PC converts it into an .exe for PC), and unzipped it.  When I'd test it on the portable hard drive or on a USB drive, the extracted file would work.  When I'd bring it back over to the PC and burn a CD with both versions on it, and then test that CD on the Mac, it wouldn't work.  Can anyone tell me why the extracted Mac version works on a hard drive, but not on a CD?  What do I have to do in order to make a Mac projector file work from a CD?

Windows uses the FAT file system, Macs use the HFS file system. The two are not compatible. If you save a Mac projector file on a FAT file system, it won't be saved properly and it won't work. When you create a Mac projector from a Windows version of Flash, the file will be saved as a compressed .hqx file.
Since you need to use a Mac to create a hybrid CD, when you move that .hqx file to the Mac, unstuff it and then use the resulting file for the CD. It will then run from the CD as expected.

  • Most videos do not play in FF; work fine in Chrome. Maybe started when I was having a FB video repeat and clicked on something to make it stop.

Some time back I clicked on a video on FaceBook. It kept repeating. I got tired of it and clicked on something on FB that stopped it. Since then Firefox does not play vids. For example http://senateconservatives.com/site/post/1160/video-new-scf-ad-promoting-ted-cruz?c=9R4F0C9CF7F3BB0 brings up a page but no video. That link works fine in Chrome.

DustinMedlam, I have the same exact problem. I started using my Iphone 4S for shooting video about 2 months ago and tranferred them to my Windows machine with Windows 7. I use the clips in Sony Vegas pro 11 and make short movies. I upgraded to ios 6 last week and every video that I shoot with my iphone 4S now is not usable in Quictime or Sony Vegas???? My old videos from before ios 6 play just fine and I can use them in Sony Vegas with no problems. The only way to play the files is with Windows media player. this does me no good as I just began making short films and now I can not use any of the video I have shot since ios 6. I also have a Samsung Galaxy S2 and I shoot video with it and use the clips in Sony Vegas with no issues!?? I can not believe this is not BLOWING up on the internet like the WIFI issue is..... What do we do? All my video gear is for my Iphone not my galaxy S2. This is very annoying. I also notice that no one from Apple response to these support forums. So why are they available?? What a JOKE!

  • No sound with video conference.  Mics and speakers work fine however.

    Howdy
My buddy and I were trying to set up a video chat on our new MacBook Pros, but there was no sound. Video came through great though.
We know our microphone and speaker settings work fine though because we were able to set up an audio conference. The audio came through loud and clear for the audio connection. For some reason, however, when we connected a video conference, the sound went away. The connection doctor said audio quality was at zero for both of us during a video connection, but the audio quality was up near 100% during an audio connection.
Furthermore, that same day I was successfully using video conference chats at work where the sound came through fine. The online help only gives tips for how to adjust your microphone and speaker settings, but I know that's not our problem.
I'm logged onto iChat using an AIM account, and my buddy was using a .Mac account. I don't know if that would have anything to do with it, but we're going to try again this weekend after I get my .Mac account up and running.
Anyone have other suggestions for what we can try?
Thanks for taking the time to help!

    Hey Tony
Thanks for the tips! My buddy and I tried to connect again this evening, but we still have the same problem. Video by itself just fine and audio by itself, but not the two together. We tried using AIM acount to AIM account and then .Mac account to .Mac account. We changed all the settings you sugested, but still no luck.
Any other ideas of what we might try?

  • Mini DisplayPort to VGA adapter not working under Vista (Boot Camp).

    Hi there,
I'm facing a very serious issue with MacBook Pro Unibody running MS Vista under Boot Camp: using the Mini DisplayPort to VGA adapter to hook a projector is 95% impossible because the only resolution available is 640x480 or sometimes 800x600. No solution came from the adaptor firmware update, still same behavior: connecting the external projector/monitor toggles 640x480 resolution with no more choices available. Just 5% of attempts on selected projectors gave me access to the complete resolutions list.
This is having a serious impact on my job where I do need both Mac&Windows running natively and with external display capabilities, please I'm looking for some feedback from users facing the same problem or someone who had an official answer on this issue from Apple. Do avoid posting about using modded display drivers please: I know they exist but the adaptor should be working with original ones.
I can understand Apple does not support MS Vista issues but this seems to be a hardware/driver one.
I'd like to point out I'm using a clean Vista installation with Apple drivers (from the Leopard DVD) and I've run Vista (same version, same gfx drivers etc) under Boot Camp on my previous MPB (with integrated DVI output+adapter) on hundreds of different projectors with never a single problem.
    Any feedback is really appreciated.
    L.

I'm having the same problem. When I try to connect to the switch in our conference room (connecting both a flat panel display and/or a projector, both with much higher native resolutions), all I get is 640x480. This is a huge problem to using bootcamp, and I really need to get this to work. I was able to get a higher resolution 1280x800 on a separate, portable display, so I'm wondering if people have the problem with standalone projectors or only with projectors connected to some sort of switch, in my case an Extron MPX423A. I have also tried this in both Windows Vista (32-bit) and Windows 7 RC1 (32-bit), with the bootcamp drivers and the latest NVidia drivers, and the behavior is the same all around.

  • Internal Microphone doesn't work (after installing Boot Camp 3.1)

I have installed Boot Camp 3.1, and after this installation, my internal mic doesn't work (ONLY IN WINDOWS XP).
I tried to fix the problem with several manners (hardware test in CONTROL PANEL / SOUND .../ VOICE TAB / VOICE RECORDING; reinstalling drivers and hardware etc), but I can't get success (for example, the test results: SORRY, NO SOUND IN MIC...).
On the other hand, when I boot as Mac (Snow Leopard), I can use the mic (in skype, for example), without problem.
I note that ear plug (connector in the back of the iMac) doesn't work too.
Somebody can help me in this case ?
    Regards
    JGFilho

i got a macbook pro, 2 weeks ago, the 2.53Ghz unibody aluminium, the desing of this mac is great even tough the system specs are really low for the price actually, im happy with it(the hardware)...
The only reason i got this is cause apple claims to support windows, i like Mac OS, but i work on windows i need it... if theres no windows capability in mac i wouldnt ever buy one, so this issue is really bothering me A LOT. my impresions about apple are changing after seing this topic filled with questions and not a single moderator answer, go and check a logitech forum and see how they take care about user problems.

  • Apples update didn't work for me: Boot Camp: iMac displays a black screen during installation of Windows 7

Boot Camp: iMac displays a black screen during installation of Windows 7 - Apple Support
I have followed each of the steps listed in the link above with no success.
Prior to adding the extra drivers I was able to start the Windows install process up to reformatting the "Windows" Bootcamp drive. After that the computer would go through some instal processes and eventually restart. After the restart the screen would go black. The black screen lead me to the  Apple Support link above dated March 5 2015. After going through steps listed in the link above, I get an error message stating that the D:\Sources\instal.win. file cannot be located. I am forced to restart the computer at that point and theWindows install process attempts to start again but always ends up at the same point.
Note: I am installing windows 7 Pro from a DVD. I scanned the AutoUnattend.xml file and noticed that it refers to "Windows 7 ULTIMATE" but not "Pro" or any others that I could see. (see below). Could that be part of the issue?
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
    <cpi:offlineImage cpi:source="wim:d:/sources/install.wim#Windows 7 ULTIMATE" xmlns:cpi="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:cpi" />

Here is an over-simplified explanation of WIM and CLG files. Assume your DVD Media contains
    W7- Ultimate
    W7- Professional
    W7- Home Premium
    W7- Home Basic
    WIM Files
    File1
    y

    File2
    y
    y
    y
    y
    File3
    y
    File4
    y
    y
    File4
    y
    y
    y
The File .wim will contains a compressed image which contains File [1...5].
The W7-Ultimate .clg will have 5 entries, with all set to 'Y'.
The W7-Professional .clg will have 5 entries, with 'Y','Y','N','Y','Y'.
The W7-Home Premium  .clg will have 5 entries, with 'Y','Y','N','N','Y'.
The W7-Home Basic .clg file will have 5 entries, with 'Y','Y','N','N','N'.
This allows a single .wim Image file on the DVD media to be used to install any of the 5 flavors of Windows. When you enter your product key, the Installer knows what specific W7 variant you have the key for and will tell the WIM to extract the specific files the installer needs to be extracted.
    The following line
    <cpi:offlineImage cpi:source="wim:d:/sources/install.wim#Windows 7 ULTIMATE" xmlns:cpi="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:cpi" />
is telling that a retail product key will be entered, which should go look for this specific .clg file (from the five you already have on disk).  You can test if it will work for you by changing this line to the following
    <cpi:offlineImage cpi:source="wim:d:/sources/install.wim#Windows 7 PROFESSIONAL" xmlns:cpi="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:cpi" />
If it does not work, the other issue can be related to device discovery. Typically A: and B: device names are reserved for Floppy Drives. C: is your internal HDD.
D: can either point to the Optical drive, or the USB. The normal convention is that the removable media is named from Z: backwards. Y: and Z: are usually used for Network drives, so X: should be your USB. First try with the change to "Professional". If it does not work,

  • SSD 6gb/s that works with W7x64 Boot Camp on MacBook Pro 2011 17" ?

So far I've tried a Corsair Force Series 3 120 GB an  OCZ Vertex 3 120 GB and neither work with Boot Camp. In fact the Corsair doesn't work at all. I guess that leaves me with a limited choice but if anyone with the same setup as me has managed to a get a working Boot Camp Windows 7 SSD 6gb/s installation happening I'm all ears
    Thanks
    Kraznet

An SSD is other than Apple's with its poor performance and possible proprietary firmware, is just an SSD. OWC uses SandForce controllers and has for quite awhile, and they use "tier #1 memory"
In essence, and not knowing what Corsair missed and why, Windows should work fine.
The problems are - I don't trust the Q&A behind the new 2011s and whoever designed the SATA3 controller and connector interface.
Windows 7 SP1 should be able to boot DVD, see the drive (no need for F6) and format the entire SSD properly.
There was an issue with the first generation of Intel X25s not working also, an issue that did require firmware update from Intel (and I can't keep track if Apple offered firmware update) for those MBP owners. I never saw an issue with a Mac Pro workstation and Intel SSD as far as installing Windows, and I use Windows on its own drive, not dual boot off same drive.
Intel moved to Marvell controller this round it seems for the 310/510 series rather than SF or their own.
This review was done... under Windows, too (but not a Mac)

  • HT4818 Will the PC version of Adobe Premiere CS5 work on Apple Boot Camp?

Im a Videography/Digital Artist. I currently work on a PC with the Adobe Premiere, Photoshop, After Effects, Audition, Encore and Media Encoder CS5.5. I'm looking at getting the Apple MAC Book Pro. My question is will the PC Adobe software work with the Apple Mac Book Pro while using Boot Camp? Is there any limitations? If I'm editing on my PC and need to transfer my files to the Apple Mac Book Pro will it cause any problems?

With a Boot Camp installation, you are starting up to, and running Windows in every sense of the word. It's just on Apple hardware rather than Dell, Sony, etc. There's no reason it shouldn't work. On a similar note, I just recently did have Premiere Pro CS6 installed on my Win 7 Boot Camp drive for some testing and it ran perfectly.

  • Will A Soundblaster card work in a Boot Camp Mac Pro?

Just what the topic says I run my surround sound on the Mac 10.5 side through the Griffin FireWave gadget to the Klipsch 5.1 speakers and that works great for WoW on the mac side but I have started playing games under Boot Camp and Windows XP and the only sound I can get is via the mac output to an old pair of cheap computer speakers... having access to surround sound is a big help both in shooters like Orange Box and in MMORPG like Lord of the Rings Online and it seems that there are no windows drivers for the FireWave

I wrote Creative Labs asking about a sound acrd solution for the Mac. They suggested getting their 2.1 speakers with the Creative Xmod. I looked it up on Amazon.com. It looks like a decent solution for now.
