yes, my audio settings are correct. I have no audio and no video output for Firewire, when I play the timeline. My VCR only receive a signal, when I use export to tape. In Premiere CS3, I could monitor through my VCR, which will be in CS4 does not have this function, as occurs with the matrox rtx2, with respect to RTX100. My daughter has had her Razr for about 9 months now. About two weeks ago she picked up her phone in the morning on her way to school when she noticed two cracks, both starting at the camera lens. One goes completely to the bottom and the other goes sharply to the side. She has never dropped it and me and my husband went over it with a fine tooth comb. We looked under a magnifying glass and could no find any reason for the glass to crack. Not one ding, scratch or bang. Our daughter really takes good care of her stuff, but we still wanted to make sure before we sent it in for repairs. Well we did and we got a reply from Motorola with a picture of the cracks saying this was customer abuse and that it is not covered under warranty. Even though they did not find any physical damage to back it up. Well I e-mailed them back and told them I did a little research and found pages of people having the same problems. Well I did not hear from them until I received a notice from Fed Ex that they were sending the phone back. NOT FIXED!!! I went to look up why and guess what there is no case open any more for the phone. It has been wiped clean. I put in the RMA # it comes back not found, I put in the ID #, the SN# and all comes back not found. Yet a day earlier all the info was there. I know there is a lot more people like me and all of you, but they just don't want to be bothered so they pay to have it fix, just to have it do it again. Unless they have found the problem and only fixing it on a customer pay only set up. I am furious and will not be recommending this phone to anyone. And to think I was considering this phone for my next up grade! NOT!!!!

Sending video OUT via Firewire to my Camcorder FROM my computer?

Can I send video OUT from my comp. to my camcorder via Firewire. I have a camcorder that has Passthrough to use it as a bridge which I have used to hook up a vcr with. But Im not sure if I can send video OUT to the camcorder and record it on the tape? Any help would be great!

Yes, you should be able to do this. Use the Export command in the File menu of iMovie, and you will see that Camera is one of the options.

Video out via firewire

Is color capable of outputing preview video through my DVCam deck via firewire? The option in the video out preferences seems to be grey out as are the other options in there.

At the time of this posting, I'd been assured by Blackmagic Designs that Color would preview externally through their Intensity Pro card although in 8-bit video. Since the time of this posting and upon further query with BM tech support, I was told the Intensity Pro could not be used in this function.

Laptop for Photo/Video editing via Photoshop CS5/Premiere

I am currently seeking a laptop strictly for photo/video editing. I desire an i7 processor (Ivy Bridge is better from what I'm hearing but am not sure), dedicated graphics card (at least 3G video memory), a minimum of 8GB ram that is still expandable, a 17" 1920x1080 matte display with a wide color gamut, a 7200rpm drive and would absolutely love to find one with Windows7 as I personally cannot stand the new Windows8. One other thing, I need the necessary ports available to hook to a larger monitor for more detailed work. I was looking at the ASUS G75VW that BestBuy was carrying, which I hear has gotten good reviews (other than the sound driver issue that I hear is fixable) and here begins the other half of my dilemma.
At two local stores, I have went and looked at computers on display, and, although nice personalities abounded, when I started mentioning the above mentioned desires, every single employee I spoke with stood there and looked at me like a cow looking at a new gate before handing me a printout of "specs" off of the BestBuy website. I pointed out several inconsistencies I had noticed on the "specs" (ie information left out, inconsistent information) and the looks only got worse, as if I had suddenly started speaking in tongues from planet "what the f...??".
All of this being said, I realize I could purchase a "designer" laptop from a myriad of other sites. However, I was recently given a sizeable gift card, from BestBuy, and am limited in this aspect. So, with an open mind, any suggestions, experience, recommendations anyone?
P.S. I have also considered the MacBook Pro, as well as the iMac 27" (yes, I know it's not a laptop but it's freakin' cool looking). Despite the PC vs Mac MMA cage fights to the death, I don't care if it's a pc, apple, orange or a grapefruit as long as it's fast, reliable, upgradeable to a degree, repairable when it breaks and does what I need it to do.

I've only seen Windows 8, never used it, and it looked like a pain. But if I'm not mistaken, isn't there an option for it to function like a normal Windows machine with Desktop and Start menu/ bar?
The laptop you linked looks fine for running CS5. I'd max out that RAM for rendering reasons thats about it. The only thing is the graphics card is mid-range, and being a laptop you can't upgrade it. I don't know what your work load for file size is or what type of video your doing in Premiere though.
I like iMacs and everything, but when it comes to upgrading stuff, don't count on it. Depending on what your workin' on, I'd rather invest in a MacPro and pick my own monitor.
As far as Windows or Mac goes, you can obviously use either one, but I personally like the workflow on a mac. Windows seems to be more worried about being 'flashy' and not concerned with the user experience. Unfortunetly Macs are gettin there too. For some stupid reason people are thinking the workflow on a tablet and phone are the same on a desktop.

Quicktime audio & video out of sync in premiere cs5

i filmed a video using the built-in isight camera in my new macbook pro and the QuickTime video recorder. the videos look and sound fine, but when i put them into adobe premiere cs5 for editing, they audio and video get out of sync. how do i keep this from happening?

In most cases I convert to PNG format (Portable Network Graphics) rather than JPG. File sizes are larger than JPG but rarely prohibitively so (and if they are I will then use JPG) .
Importantly, for this generally insignificant increase in size, you get a perfect lossless graphic with PNG.
For example this whole screen capture (1920 x 1200) shot is:
694K PNG (lossless)
2,341K JPG (lossless)
493K JPG (standard lossy)
Note that the forum scales images for display. To actually see it at full resolution you would right-click the image and 'Save As Image ...' to then view it in your favourite image viewer (I use VuePrint, XN-View and FutureixImager to view images).

Fcp 5.12 - no video out via fw ?

Here's a weird one - everything appears fine.
Had no problems on install -
Logged and Captured clips - dv pal via fw.
Video showing on external monitor when capturing - all good.
Drop clip into tl - nothing showing on external ?
Yes - External Video>All Frames is selected.
Yes - did Refresh AV devices.
Yes - Rebooted.
Yes - checked in all the other nooks and crannies.
Can't make video appear on my Pvm - Yet when in L&C everything works.
Scratching the old scales here ...
Going to have a try in another app - Motion and AE to see if it's an fcp thing, or QT ...
edit: Okay - I'm getting nothing out in Motion or AE.
Maybe it's a porked qt 7.13 install - I'll try trashing QT receipt and dl a freshie.

Nope - she's plain busted as far as fw out for me.
Dl'd and installed 7.1.3 again - nothing.
Installed it also onto a backup of OS 10.4.6 and fcp 5.04 - no fw out !
In fcp L&C yup - it works, device control and playback. The moment you close L&C - nothing. No communication.
I tried SimpleVideo OutX and BTv Pro - nope.
The dsr 11 is seen but nothing is going out the port.
I have also tried going out fw 400 using the cardbus 400 port - nothing.

Video out via AV Dock

I have an older iPod universal dock that has a S-Video cable outlet, as well as the 'normal' 3.5mm line-out and connector. There is no IR window (sensor) on the front, therefore, I presume that a standard Apple Remote will not work.
My questions are: 1) Is there a User Guide (manual) for this device? The copyright on the bottom says Apple 2003. I hook up an S-Video cable to it and my HDMI TV, but I cannot get a movie to play from my iPhone 3GS. 2) Will this unit work with my iPhone 3GS?

Send Video Out via Firewire 800?

I have a macbook pro that has a firewire 800 port on it
i also have a video switcher for video productions that takes a firewire 400 input as a video source
i own a firewire 800 to 400 cable.
is there any way to get video to send out of the macbook pro to go into the video switcher?
when i connect the cables, nothing happens.
please help!

I have a small portable DVD player that I'm thinking of trying to use a "mini monitor"...what would happen if I use this adapter

I actually have one of those Apple Mini-DVI to Video Adapter...won't fit my iMac but it does fit my iBook...so I tried it (via RCA) and the iBook did not detect the DVD player....so I'm not sure if Apple has a "mini" DVI to RCA for the iMac since the iMac and iBook ports are different.

Does 7.0.2 allow the video out via AV composite cable?

I teach, so I play movies and TV shows via this cable.
The TV sets are very simple LCD 6 year old TVs, so I can not rely on AirPlay.
Can anyone tell me if 7.0.2 is ok with AV composite cable?

Getting 16bit video into Premiere CS4

Bear with me, as I'm sure I am a super noob. I went and did a bad thing...I think. I told a non-profit that I would make a video for them to sell for charity. The video is going to be a combo of video, stills, etc and I went ahead and shot all videos with my Nikon D90 camera. Settings were apparently set to standard and then I went out and picked up Premiere CS4 to take the video to the next level. I come to find out the video was taken in 16bit NTSC format and the program wants a minimum of 32. Is there anything I can do to get the videos I have into the Premiere workspace to create my video? Is it possible to up-convert? I've read about converting to TIF files, but I am going to need the audio off the video as well. I have to think there is a way around this somehow.
If you have any input whatsoever, it would be greatly appreciated. I'm behind schedule as it is and this is only setting me back further. Really hoping there is a quick fix out there. *crosses fingers*

I'm not even seeing MJPEG as an option when I start a new project. Does that mean I do not have a proper CODEC installed?
How does MPEG Streamclip stack up against the two you mentioned?

Running on MBP in the field, can I monitor Color video out via FW connected to DVCPro deck then out to NTSC monitor? FCP outputs fine. In Color the video output selection is greyed out... jPo? Shane?

DVD vob to Premiere CS4 via Media Encoder

I'm a nube going through the pain of figuring out how to use vob DVD files in Premiere CS4. I've done my research and the problem has many solutions, most which are way more pain than I want.
In another thread a user said that Adobe Media Encoder works well to convert vob files to Premiere friendly files. If so, what output format should be used? I don't see a DV AVI-2 option in ME that many threads say is the best.

Thanks Jim. I renamed the vob to mpg, then used the NTSC DV preset under the Microsoft AVI Format, and all good except the audio was stripped out. Also, when I try in import the avi to Premiere I get an error message "File video dimensions (width/heigth) too large) even though both the project and avi are both sized 720x480. Sigh.
I'll keep trying.
