No video tab in adobe media encoder cs4

Hi,
I'd like to change the bit-rate when I export, but I have no video tab in adobe media encoder cs4 v4.2
http://adwords.google.com/support/aw/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=105647 explains how to change bit-rates but it unfortunately doesn't help me.
Any ideas would be apprciated.
Michael

I found the video and audio tabs etc.
First open in, "device central".
And then if you have "basic settings" displayed you still can't see the "bitrate" and "advanced settings".
You either have to scroll down, or close "basic settings".
And then all is revealed.

    Hello,
I have Adobe Media Encoder CS4 installed on my computer and I'm trying to convert a .mov video into a format that can be edited on windows movie maker and when I convert the video it converts the audio just fine, but there is only a black screen. Any ideas as to why this may be happening?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Where is the De-interlace in Adobe Media Encoder CS4?

How do you de-interlace video Using the Adobe Media Encoder in CS4? In CS3 there was a de-interlace check box in the video Output Tab but there is not one in CS4?
I am using 720x486 SD interlaced 29.97fps footage editing it and exporting the final product to flash flv.
    Thank you!
    Joe

Deinterlacing is now automatically applied if the source and the destination differ as far as their field order is concerned. In other words:
Interlaced source --> interlaced destination = no deinterlacing
Progressive source --> progressive destination = no deinterlacing
Interlaced source --> progressive destination = automatic deinterlacing
The Field Order option in the output setting determines whether deinterlacing is applied. Be sure to check the "Use Maximum Render Quality" option in the fly-out menu; it will take 4-5 times longer to render, but with better results.

  • Adobe Media Encoder CS4 problem

    I having a ***** at Adobe
I do have a lienced copoy  CS4 Design Premium. I down loaded premier  pro CS4 to demo it about 8 months ago and had not used it up to about 1 weeks ago. All that time Adobe Media Encoder CS4 did not work. I came back to the problem last week when I wanted to convert a video to a FLV file, did not work, I went through uninstalling and reinstalling Design Premium: reloaded parts of the the suite still did not work: went to the forums and tried every which way to get resolution nothing worked. This morning I opened up Premier  and  it world not open without serial key I was only a week into the 30 trial period. So I uninstalled premier. Reloaded the Media Encoder and guess what it worked. I am know looking at buying another product. Another thing while using the trial version I could not demo encore CS4.
    ****** off
PS I have now uploaded the FLV to my website. I never had any problem with AME CS4 until I loaded Premier CS4

It may be hidden since it's a system folder. You can get to it one of two ways.
Either: Hit start button + r to get run, then insert  (C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Media Encoder\4.0\) without the () and press enter. *This is assuming that your username is Administrator. If the folder exists it will take you there, even if it is hidden.
Other way: hit start button on keyboard and type in "folder options". Press enter when it shows up in the start menu search. Click on the View tab then select "Show hidden files, folders, or drives" and uncheck "Hide protected operating system files".  This should enable you to see both the AppData and Roaming folder. You may want to undo these selections otherwise you'll see files you usually don't want to see. (thumbnail caches...)
If neither of these methods work, let me know which folders you see in this directory "C:\Users", Administrator may not the account you're currently running on.

  • No audio on Adobe Media Encoder CS4

I'm using Adobe Media Encoder CS4 (4.1.0.107) to convert an MPEG2 clip with WAV audio to FLV or to F4V.
The export audio checkbox is checked but the output file I get has no audio.
    I'm using Windows Vista SP2.
Please I need your help !!!

I have VBR as an option under FLV/F4V. Multiple passes, too.
Nothing special here. I have used most of these settings to test them out (VBR multipass wasn't available previously in PPro) and compare them to my Sorenson Squeeze results. You'd be better off with Squeeze, but it's not too bad in this version...much better than the previous implementation of the On2 VP6 encoding.
Different vendors with their different applications utilize codecs differently. In other words, just because VBR or multi-pass encoding is part of the available spec on a certain codec (for example, On2 VP6) does not mean that the entire spectrum of options will be fully implemented in your application of choice. Sorenson Squeeze has one of the better utilizations of On2 VP6 available for the price.
EDIT - Make sure you are using Flash 8 and higher, not Flash 7 and higher. Sorenson Spark codec is limited to CBR. It's all available in the video tab under Basic Video Settings and Bitrate Settings.

  • Adobe Media Encoder CS4 Encoding Error

I got an error when Adobe Media Encoder CS4 encoding which is the crash of ImporterProcessServer. It crashes the halfway of the encoding process. I restarted my comp and tried several times before but the results still the same. Sometimes ImporterProcessServer did not crash but the encoder failed compiling without any error.

First thing to check is what is on the Timeline at about the 50% point. Do you have an odd Asset there?
Do you have a gap in the Video at about that point?
Then, do you have adequate defragmented free space on the destination HDD?

  • Adobe Media Encoder CS4 doesn't encode audio

I'm having trouble getting the Adobe Media Encoder CS4 to
work properly. I have tried multiple files of different lengths but
end up with the same output. Nice video encoding, but the audio
starts and then cuts out after a couple of seconds. The longer the
video, the shorter the audio works. The logs don't report any
    issues. Anybody have any ideas?

I have the same problem just trying to crop an FLV. (Encoding from FLV to FLV on Snow Leopard).
The audio just dies about 5 seconds in (the clip is 28 seconds long).
Sucks. I wish I could find the original .mov
I wish I wasn't forced to recompress the audio.
I've tried various settings all night - most settings result in no audio whatsoever.
Also, Media Encoder alters the mod date of my original file. Why?
I'm really frustrated with this software.

  • F4v encoded with Adobe media encoder CS4 (longer than 71 minutes)

Hi I don't know if this is the correct place for this post. So apologies me if this is the wrong place.
Encoding with Adobe Media Encoder CS4 (4.2.0.006 and 4.0 too)
Source: MOV (DVPAL) longer than 71 minutes
    Dest: F4V (H.264)
Result: freezed frames and only plays audio at 01:11. Media Player goes crazy and starts showing some diferent parts freeze frames.
In Quicktime crashes, in VLC the same of MediaPlayer. Sometimes the audio starts to downsampling and sounds like the pitch goes down.
Totally agree with this other post: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/580391
    (extract)
I recentlly encoded afew F4V using Adobe Media Encoder Cs4.  MOst of them are working properly but I don't know why, all of my video that are longer than 71 minutes seems to have trouble playing back.  They all Freeze when they reach 71 minutes or if I navigate pass this point.
    thanks and help us please!

    Thanks for the interest.
I'll try to explain all details:
    MacPro 1.1 (mid 2006) under Mac OS X 10.4.11 (Darwin 8.11.1 kernel)
System files: journaled HFS+ and a unix based NAS (under samba connection)
I have all material on the NAS and also I make the transcoding over it. Is a simple mov containing DV PAL WIDE interlaced 25fps with stereo audio. typical settings with nothing out of DV PAL standard.
The version of MediaEncoder CS4: 4.2.0.006 (it happens with older versions too)
    The settings of MediaEncoder are:
    Audio: AAC stereo 44,1 kHz
Video: F4V. MainConcept H.264, fps like source, profile high, level 4,1. CBR compression.
The problem only appears with videos longer than 71 minuts. At 01:11 starts with crazy problems. It seems like the player have some read or problems.
Tell me if you need some other kind of information.

  • Using Adobe Media Encoder CS4 for MTS files

Hey everyone, I did some searching on this topic to no avail so here I am.
Anyway, I recently got an HD camcorder that records in 1080i AVCHD.
I have no problems getting the MTS files off of my camera but as I'm sure you can imagine, working with those files is a whole other issue.
I've found that Adobe Media Encoder CS4 works great in encoding these files to QuickTime format (.mov) but the problem is that the resulting file size is actually bigger than the original MTS file which is unacceptable, especially considering I'm encoding the files from 1920x1080 down to 1280x720.
Does anyone have any experience using AME CS4 to convert MTS files to a more workable 720p format for uploading to YouTube?
I've tried a number of different custom settings to no avail (where you see an "or" is where I've tried different options):
    Format: QuickTime
    Video Codec: MPEG4-Video or H.264
    Quality: 100
    Width: 1280
    Height: 720
    Frame Rate: 29.97 or 23.976
Field Type: Lower First or Upper First or Progressive
    Aspect: Square Pixels (1.0)
I won't list the audio options because I don't think that has any bearing on my problem.
Any ideas as to why the encoded file sizes are actually larger than the MTS file sizes?  Maybe AME CS4 is not what I should be using for this task?
    Thanks for your help,
    Tom

    I figured it out.
If you select H.264 as the format you can then select YouTube Widescreen HD for the preset.
This will set everything up to convert your MTS file to 720p and reduce the file size by around 30% with little quality degradation in my experience so far.
The only problem I encountered was the video was kind of choppy when the camera panned but that was remedied by upping the frame rate from 24 to 29.97.
Hope this helps someone and if anyone has any suggestions to improve efficiency or reduce file size post it in here.

  • Adobe Media Encoder CS4 Suddenly Adding Black Bars To L & R

I think I may be going crazy.
Every video I have ever shot has been cropped to 720x340 in After Effects then exported as an uncompressed Quicktime movie file at 720x340.  For the last year I have done this process exactly the same everytime.
On my website (www.stevenbogda.com) videos are either 360x170 or 480x226 FLV files, both variations of the original 720x340 Quicktime file.  I would just bring a 720x340 file into Adobe Media Encoder CS4, adjust the dimensions and bitrate and export and it would work perfectly.  Now all of the sudden, when I bring anything I shot and exported recently into AME CS4 to get it ready to go on my website, it adds BLACK BARS to the left and right side of my video (refer to image 2).
I thought it was just a visual problem in AME CS4 until I exported it as the FLV file that I planned on doing, just to find that the actual FLV file is in fact the dimensions I wanted, EXCEPT it has black bars on the right and the left...
I immediately blamed it on After Effects and started re exporting uncompressed Quicktime files with different settings and managed to get AME to work properly but it was random.  Some videos were exported with "settings 1" and worked in AME but other videos with the same settings didn't work.
I went to my hard drive where I store my master Quicktime files that were used to make the videos on my site and brought some into AME CS4 and they acted the same way that the new videos I made do, with black bars on the left and right.  These videos worked the way I wanted them to in AME CS4 last month, but now suddenly are doing what my more recent files do and I have no idea why.
I found out that by lowering the width of the video (refer to image 3) the black bars would dissapear slowly, but then the video would be a smaller width that it should be.  I really think I am just missing something, or set some setting wrong by accident because this never used to happen and now is happening with files that once worked correctly.
Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated because I am spending way too much time re exporting uncompressed files just to find out they don't work.
    Thank you,
    Steven

    Stan,
I was using the on2VP6 codec at data rates from 275k to 400k with good results. -- with the new CS$ endcoder i am used h.264 at 500k to 700k, video quality looks good but the graphic overlays look like alised crap. In the encoder settings the edges of the graphics get jaged when I make the field order progresive...
I am starting with DV NTSC video at 720x480.
I am going to go back to my old work flow and test it. The settings are a bit different from premiere pro 1.5 to CS4 -- in 1.5 i could export out an unconpressed .mov with square px and then bring that large file to flash media encoder to create the .flv

Does Adobe have some problem with MP4 created by Apple HD Movie?
    Regards,
    Simon

well im guessing or atleast hoping you 3 who posted on here got it sorted out by now but thought id post on here to help anybody who has the same problem in the future.i had the same problem and after searching a few different forums i found that mp4's are a bit troublesome when converting them.apparently a good way to get around it is opening the mp4 in quicktimepro  and then exporting it as an flv.i dont know if its that simple but i dont have quicktimepro anyway so i couldnt do it.
but here is what i did- i uploaded my video to youtube.
then using     keepvid.com   i downloaded it from youtube as an flv file.(you have the choice of a few different file types)
now it works in my flash perfectly.
hope it helps somebody and if anybody knows an easier way (there must be one) please let me know
    cheers

  • No Sound - Adobe Media Encoder CS4

    Hello,
I have been trying to convert an MPEG file to F4V using Adobe Media Encoder CS4.
However, no matter what parameters i choose on the encoding, it will always generate a F4V file with no sound.
I also updated all the CS4 package to the latest version; doesn't seem to helped a bit.
    Any ideas?
    Thanx
    A.

mostly this problem is caused by lacking of
some nessery codec. Which means when reencoding your video to flv, it can not generate the video.
Does Riva FLV encoder needs any extra codec? I am using Moyea Flash Video MX 6. It do not need any extra code. It needs in the former versions but in version 6 it can convert nearly any video format now.
