No video when imported into itunes yet vid when file outside

This is really weird
i converted 2 videos i had by using quicktime video player to convert it to ipod format
if i leave these 2 videos on the desktop right click and choose play in itunes they play perfectly in the itunes window or fukk screen
Yet if i import them into itunes when they play in itunes they dont show vidoe only audio
delete from itunes and play from outside itunes again and the video is back!
they play perfectly in quicktime player
Any ideas what the heck is causing this? they are standard m4v conversions.
I tried deleting them completely and reconverting with quicktime and exact same results

ok i think i figured something out
it now does this with all my videos in itunes BUT
if i pause any video and restart it the video suddenly appears and plays
its a pain to have to play stop and then play every-time though

  • Only half of video is imported into itunes

I clicked on 'file', then 'add file to library' and clicked on a home video. It imported it into my library as such - but only half of it. The video stops playing (in iTunes) exactly halfway through it. When I play the video using Windows Media Player it works fine. Why is this happening? <<<<< How it looks like after half way through, it goes blank.
When I download it to my iPod Touch 5 the same thing happens. I have the latest iTunes version and have Windows 7. The video is an MP4 video.
Please help!!! I need it on my iPod Touch to Airplay it on a TV by Friday!!!!

This is a known issue with a recent Windows update.

  • How can I stop Compulations CDs from being broken up into multiple different Albums when imported into Itunes?

I am currently using Itunes 10.6.1.7.  When I attempt to import my CDs, any that are Compulation Cds (with multiple artists), the CDs aren't being imported into the same folder and are broken into multiple listing in my Itunes library.
How can change this so that they are imported only by Album?

I think even using Get Info may not reveal the change, though it is possible the behaviour has altered since I last tested it. Playing or updating the tracks location in a script such as UpdateTagInfo seems to get iTunes to re-evaluate the tag.
Assuming WMP is involved it may be best to make the necessary settings adjustments to prevent further changes, use the script to get all of the background changes exposed within iTunes, then correct as you see fit. Alternatively I do have another script called ExportImport that could be used to back up the current state of your tags (you should temporarily rename the media folder during the export phase), after which you would then run UpdateTagInfo and then use ExplortImport in its import mode to restore the corrupted data.

  • How to stop system from freezing when importing into iTunes (version 7)?

Since I have installed iTunes 7, I have been unable to import music into iTunes; my computer freezes after about 10 seconds and the only thing I can do is restart the entire computer. It is extremely frustrating and I can't seem to find anyone who can help me with this issue...I'm affraid that I'm not extremely technical-savvy when it comes to these things, so any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I've found quite a few people in these discussions with this problem and I had the same one myself.
The only thing I could do (the startup disc I have was an earlier version of iTunes - I downloaded iTunes 7 from the net) is uninstall iTunes and then reinstall using the earlier disc and don't upgrade it. Unfortunately this means if you have any music in iTunes 7 you won't be able to use it.

  • Mpeg1 video wont import into itunes for windows

This is a rather stange one.
I have an MPEG video that will run happily on MAC using either Quick Time or Itunes. Try the same on windows and one gets a 2048 error from quick time. itunes claims it's an unknown file type.
Real Player on window or MAC is perfectly happy with the file though.
I really need to get into itunes so that it can then loaded into a video ipod.
    Any clues ?

  • File Name Encoding resets to Roman from Cyrillic when importing into iTunes

I have added a large number of Russian songs to my library. Many of the file names were not imported using the correct file name encoding. I downloaded the file name encoding repair app and fixed all the file names in my iTunes library, but whenever I add the songs into iTunes, the names are reset to Roman encoding from Cyrillic. Is there any way to set and lock the encoding so iTunes doesn't reset it?

Fixing the filenames probably doesn't do what you need. iTunes uses the ID3 tags. See this note for info on fixing those:

  • Duplicated files when importing into itunes

    Hi,
My hard drive seems to have copies of songs both in the My Music folder and the iTunes folder as well. I gather it means I have two copies of everything. Is this normal for iTunes to do this and is it ok to delete the copies which aren't in the iTunes folder?

Folks, you've posted your question in the iTunes for Mac forum. You will probably get a better response in the iTunes for Windows forum.

  • Know why my mix from Garage Band imported into iTunes is incomplete?

I got a spankin' new iMac and I'm trying to download original Garage Band mixes (combo of midi and real instrument tracks, no more than 12) into iTunes to write a CD. Regardless of the mix format (aif, aac, mp3), when I import into iTunes, some mixes only inlcude one or two of the tracks (the songs play perfectly in Garage Band). One attempt with a song from an aif file imported into iTunes as 9 seperate files, one for each track!

    What steps did you take?
Usually you would be able to export song to iTunes via Share --> Send song to iTunes...
I never encountered any problems but maybe you are doing something different?

  • I have some dts cd's that I want to import into itunes on a windows pc and then play back on my apple tv 3 (i think its 3, about 9 months old) to listen to through my onkyo amp via hdmi as dts, when I play back I just get white noise.

I have some dts cd's that I want to import into itunes on a windows pc and then play back on my apple tv 3 (i think its 3, about 9 months old) to listen to through my onkyo amp via hdmi as dts, when I play back I just get white noise. I have seen lots of old posts which go on about converting files but am wondering wherher at the current time with the latest versions of itunes and apple tv whether this should by now be a virtual play out of the box solution.
I have tried connecting my atv to the amp by optical cable but that didnt produce anything better and am assuming that a hdmi cable should be able to reproduce everything an optical cable does.
Is this something I should be able to achieve without having to recode the files?
Tracks are imported to itunes as apple lossless, have tried setting the atv audio settings to auto and 16 bit, neither works yet I was told some time ago by an apple rep that the atv shoud be able to handle any type of audio as it just passes it to the amp to decode. I am not stupid but not that technical when it comes to audio and bitrates etc so any explaination would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance for any help

Willy, the procdedure you describe works perfectly for AppleTV G1. In fact, I frequently play DTS music discs ripped to my iTunes library as Apple Lossless (ALAC) and synched to the ATV. What happens is that, as far as iTunes and the ATV are concerned, a conventional stereo 16/44 audio file is being played; however my reciever detects the DTS data stream, and instead of outputting static, it decodes the 5.1 channels correctly. This process parallels the way DTS discs were designed to be played back: a conventional CD player is connceted, via digital out, to a DTS-aware reciever/pre-amp and the two channels of static are recognized as 6 channels of DTS-encoded audio.
However this process will only work if the player (CD, ATV, PC, etc.) sends a "bit-perfect" 16 bit/44.1 khz data stream to the decoding device. In the case of ATV G2 and G3, as has been discussed elsewhere, the unit resmaples all audio - including 16/44 PCM (Redbook CD)  - to 16/48. While this is not a big deal for conventional audio CDs, MP3s, and AAC files, it mangles the fragile DTS datastream and renders it undecodable. The resulting static that you hear is just like the static you would hear if you played a DTS CD on a non-DTS capable system.
Sadly, I'm not aware of any easy way around this. You could use a program like Foobar (and the DTS plugin) to convert your DTS CDs to 6-ch .wav or .flac file. From there you could transcode the file to AC-3 and then mux it into a video container that ATV supports. You may need add a dummy video track, for iTunes/AppleTV to be ok with the file, though I'm not sure. This may be a lot of work.
Sorry for the bad news. I wish that the iTunes/ATV ecosystem had better multi-channel audio support.
    Steven

  • Videos won't import into iTunes 7

I want to put some of my own videos onto my new iPod video, but I can't put any videos into iTunes. I've tried dragging and dropping, "import" and "add file". And nothign ever shows up. How am I suppossed to put video into itunes that I don't buy from the iTunes store? Thanks for the help.

This also happens with me. I have an Intel Core Duo 17", running iTunes 7.1 with the latest Quicktime, and OS 10.4.4. My movies work great in Quicktime, but won't import into iTunes at all. When I try to drop them on my iPod directly, it tells me that my 5th gen iPod can't display video.
I brought my iPod into work today, and hooked it up to the G5/dual 1.8 tower here, also running iTunes 7, and quicktime (7.1.3 I think?), OS 10.3.9. I was able to drop the videos directly into iTunes, and they showed up fine. I was also able to then put the video on my iPod.
As for the video, I converted them to .mp4 files with a 3rd party converter from .mpg files.
Interested to see what the solution is. Glad I'm not the only one with this problem!

  • My music is on a nas loaded by Windows Media Player in WAV. When I import into Itunes only the songs appear no album name etc.

My music is on a nas. Loaded using windows media player in WAV.
When I import into Itunes only the record apears, no Album name etc
How can can I see all the details

Information is often stored as tags embedded in the file.  WAV does not support tagging. I don't know how WMP works but iTunes keeps its own database about media.  For many audio formats, track information will be stored both in iTunes' database and in the file itself as tags.  With formats such as mp3 most tags (not all) will 'travel' with the file when copied.  This does not happen with WAV where the information is only stored in the player application's database.

  • When I'm importing into itunes, sometimes I can edit information, sometimes not

when I'm importing into itunes, sometimes I can edit the information sometimes it doesn't allow changes.  my permissions on the drive are 'read & write', also the itunes folder.  but as I said, sometimes I can edit.  things I can't edit end up in 'unknown' folder, so I've started making playlist that I put cd's into.  Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

In iMovie, on the middle toolbar you should see the Rotate, Crop, Ken Burns Tool.
Select your photo in the Project and use this tool to select FIT to keep the entire picture and fill the extra space with black bars (letterboxing). Use CROP to make the picture fill the frame by chopping off the top ad bottom. Choose Ken Burns to create a motion effect.

  • What happens to CC or Watermarks when imported into PrPro

    HI all,
my question (s) are about information that is stored in the out of tv safety feilds when imported into Adobe premeir pro. files will be mpeg-2 video files SD and Hd
    1) what happens to closed Captioning data (does it get moved or is it stripped)?
    2) what happens to Nielsen watermarks on line 22 and 20?
Can anybody give me an understanding of this.
    thank you much!!
    Jay Agoglia

Nothing happens to the music on your computer. Nothing will "combine" unless this other person actually downloads something to your computer. Simply logging into an iTunes account does not instigate any automatic downloads of anything.

  • HT1473 It seems like many commercial music CDs won't import into iTunes (copy protection?), so you can only play them from the disc, not your other devices. Am I missing something?

More and more commercial music CDs won't seem to import into iTunes - they just spin, falter, and spit out. I would think I had a setting wrong except older CDs load with no problem. I'm guessing there's copy protection on the newer ones, which seems unfair if you want to, say, buy a CD that has bonus material not available via iTunes (and then have to buy the regular material again on iTunes). Is there a way around this? An easy fix so I can keep buying CDs when I want to? I know it's a technology that's on the way out, but it's not gone yet.

Audio CD copy protection is relatively rare. I doubt its use is on the increase as it would be just one more nail in CD's coffin. On the few occasions I've bought CDs that won't rip I've gone straight back to the store for a refund. If the drive is attempting to read at max. speed it might help to force it to read slower (if indeed you have that as an option) and it may help to switch the error correction mode.
