No Video with IE9 Flash Player 'Square'

I recently purchased a new Acer notebook computer for my business travel in late March 2011. The machine is running Windows 7 64bit OS and had IE8 64bit installed. I installed IE9 upon receipt of an update notice from Microsoft and downloaded Adobe Flash Player 'Square'. I am unable to view any internet video on news websites (ie: CNN, Fox, MSNBC, etc). The screen is completely blank, but does contain the audio. I do receive video for any 'You Tube' file I have attempted. I have removed and reinstalled both IE9 and Flash 'Square' multiple times after attempting various 'fix' I have found on line, but the problem persists and I cannot view video content. This is forcing me to use 'Chrome' when using this machine. Can you help me? Thanks.

No big fan of Chrome, so I can relate to your dismay. But, I'm even less of a fan of IE (any version). The fact that YouTube videos will play but not the news sites tells me the Flash Player is working (otherwise you'd have no videos anywhere). The problem is in IE somewhere. I just got IE9 a week ago, so I haven't gotten into "debugging" it yet, but I have no trouble with videos using Firefox, and it's a better browser than Chrome or IE in my opinion.

I too had IE9 thrust upon me via the guise of being an important update... didn't appreciate that.  While I was trying to get it up to speed with how I had things working smoothly for me with IE8, I found some glitches in IE9 that made me look for info on how to get it out of my system and return to IE8. I believe it was a simple uninstall, where IE8 was automatically restored.  The next day the update notice came up again with IE9 listed so I did what I could to eliminate its status as being anything I want.
I think too many companies are rushing to get their unfinished products out the door these days.  I can wait for html5 to be a released standard before I need a browser that incorporates tidbits of its undeveloped functionality.

  • Can't get video with Adobe Flash Player (windows7 64-bit)

Get audio but not video on current version of Adobe Flash Player.  Have Windows7 (64bit).  Ran every test suggested on website and still no luck.

Can you post your dxdiag report so we can take a look at your system?  You might also want to try disabling hardware acceleration.
How do I disable or enable hardware acceleration?

This just looks like the downloaded installer; have you actually run it?
P.S. for problems with FP beta, please post in the appropriate Labs forum http://forums.adobe.com/community/labs/flashplayer10

Can anyone please help me, I'm having problems with sound while watching video clips using flash player & Internet Explorer

There's a good chance that this is a known issue.  We'll have a Flash Player 18 beta later this week that should resolve this at http://www.adobe.com/go/flashplayerbeta/

  • Flash Player Square troubles in Mac OS X Snow Leopard

For the last 2 - 3 days or so, I have been having severe problems with Flash Player Square Preview 2, 64-bit in Firefox 4.0 Beta 7.
Most sites seem to work fine, but on YouTube nearly every video I try to play performs very poorly. The video lags horribly, and is very choppy and blocky.
    I have tried the following:
    1. Uninstalling/Reinstalling Flash Player - No Success.
    2. Deleted my Firefox profile. - No Success
    3. Playing videos with fresh profile and NO ADDONS. - No Success.
    and Finally,
    4. Reinstalled Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.5 - No Success.
Also one more important thing to note, I had a friend with a similar setup(Firefox 4.0 Beta 7 - Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.5) as my own try it, and he too said that the videos are playing choppily with the same results.
Flash does however, perform well on every site in 32-bit release versions of Firefox 3.6.X as well as Safari and Chrome. And it performed fine even in a 64-bit Browser earlier this week too.
Also, I do not believe the problem is 64-bit related, since I get the same results if I tick the Open in 32-bit Mode check box in Get Info for Firefox 4.0 Beta 7.
Any suggestions for this problem would be much appreciated.

Did you want me to re-post this in that forum or can one of the mods from here move it?

I experienced the same problem on my Win7 Pro SP1 x64 lenovo T410 laptop with Intel HD Graphics.  There was no video driver update available.
I followed the instructions in this topic: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/853591 (step #4) and went back to version 10.2.
Problem solved.  I just have to remember not to do any updates to flash player when prompted.  I'll come here first to make sure the problem is fixed.

  • Internet Explorer 9 and Adobe Flash Player Square (x64)

I have a question, I use internet Explorer 9 Beta and I just heard a new version of Adobe Flash came out, my operating System is x64... I downloaded Adobe Flash Player Square and do I have to use Internet Explorer (64) or can I use the Normal one (Internet Explorer) for Adobe Flash Player to work?
    Thank you

Hi, The Flash Player Square is a beta, so it is going to have problems. IE9 is a beta, so the same. I would not Install both betas.
I would decide which one you want to use, if any. But I would not use both!!
Betas are for developers and other users that want to test using it and report back to Adobe problems they find, etc. The same thing with IE9, they use it, find problems and report back to Microsoft.
Then when all of the problems are worked out, the companies release it to everyone.
If you decide not to use the Flash Player beta, then you must Uninstall before Installing the 10.1 version.
    Hope that helps.

  • Problem with adobe flash player on my new computer

I bought a new computer window 8 and as you know adobe flash player is already installed but now flash player won't play some videos on the windows 8 internet exploer unless i swicthed it to the desktop. when i try to watch it says i need to install flash player but i have flash player that says on windows 8. so i there any way i can watch my videos?

This reply is to both of you trying to help me through my ordeal with Adobe Flash Player.  I followed both of your advices to no avail. I even enlisted the help of my husband to see if I was doing something wrong or missing a step. He assured me I was doing everything by the book.
    Well, bottom line is number
1: I never found "Extensions Adds ons and Plug Ins" in Firefox. I looked everywhere and it's simply not on my screen. I opened everything, looked at every line, every box, every space (with my husband next to me looking also).
Number 2: I got a message that reads: Firefox prevented this site (get Adobe.com) from asking you to install software on your computer.
By the way, I uninstalled Webroot at the beginning and never reinstalled it. Restarted my computer. Tried all the steps you guys suggested, restarted my computer I don't know how many times.
One time I got Adobe Flash Player installed "successfully" and then I got excited and tried YouTube, videos on Facebook, CNN and guess what? Nothing. No Adobe Flash Player.
By the way, my husband has the same problem at his work computer. He got an Information Systems technician to work on this and voila! he could not fix the problem either. Any other suggestions out there? If anybody from Adobe reading this?
To say I am fed up is putting it mildly. I am so mad at Adobe for putting this piece of garbage out there.  I can only compare it to Vista.
Oh by the way, I keep getting this notice that my" windows drivers are out of date" and guess what?  I have no idea which ones because they don't say. I checked my updates and supposedly I am up to date. I went to Microsoft and they have a million, so how am I supposed to know which ones?
I am also upset at Microsoft, ha, ha.
I am going to bed, tomorrow will be another day.

    Hi,
Download and install ActiveX if you use Internet Explorer.
You need to install plug-in if you use Firefox, Opera, or Safari.
The following link has step-by-step information: http://helpx.adobe.com/content/help/en/flash-player/kb/installation-problems-flash-player- windows.html#main-pars_heading_5
Also, after installing ActiveX, ensure that you disable ActiveX Filtering in Internet Explorer. See the following link for details: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/flash-player-games-video-or.html#main_2__Disable_Ac tiveX_Filtering__if_you_are_using_Internet_Explorer_9_

  • Help with Adobe Flash Player 12 IE 8.1 64 Bit

I am having a problem with the Adobe Flash Player 12 for IE 8.1 64 bit. I have tried it with You Tube videos and still not working properly. Can anyone assist me?

Flash Player for IE on Windows 8 & 8.1 is mebedded by Microsoft.
    You can't:
    Download it
    Update it
    Upgrade it
    Repair it
    Uninstall it
    from here.
It can ONLY be updated via Windows Update.
IE11 is another can of worms.
Microsoft intentionally screwed up the "user-Agent Strings", which websites use to identify the browser and provide the proper content for it. Since the pages can't recognize the browser, they don't recognize any of the plugins, like Flash Player. So far, Microsoft has made NO indication that they have any plan to fix it soon.
Microsoft's recommendation is to use Compatibility View for affected pages, and "pretend" you're using an different browser. Trouble with that is it has seen limited success at best, and you have to individually enable it for EVERY page that has problems.
I'm not big on "pretending" so I recommend actually using another browser.
    Firefox (from Mozilla)
    Opera (from Opera)
    Safari (from Apple)
    Chrome (from Google)
ANY of those will work where IE11 won't, with the Flash Player Plug-in (For all other browsers), and Chrome doesn't even need that because it has its own Flash Player plugin built in.

  • Using Multiple FLV files on one page with one Flash Player

I have a web site with 6 videos.  I am hoping to find help figuring out how best to develop the web page that will allow me to associate several FLV files with one Flash Player.  And to have each of the videos "launch" when triggered by a link containing the title.
I have the video titles as links that will launch the associated FLV file when clicked.  It is a selection menu with the Flash player on the same page.

I don't know which player you're using, but this is usually done with XML or Javascript files (playlists) because you can't directly link to FLVs and have them play in browsers.
That said, Flash is dead as a web technology now because it isn't supported by all the latest and most popular web devices (iPhone, iTouch, iPads).  If you want to reach the widest possible audience with your videos, I would suggest using MP4 videos with an HTML5 player that supports playlists.

  • Need step by step for video playing in Flash Player

I'm new to Flash Player and wonder if there is are step by
step instructions someplace to help me go from a .flv file to
embedding the video in a Flash Player and then getting it to play
in a page created in Dreamweaver. I've tried everything and all I
get when uploading the files to the server is a big blank white
    space.
    I have a page at
    www.goworldpublishing.com/promoteyourhotelmodify.htm if that is
helpful. The problem area is the big white space on the upper right
    of the screen.
    Thanks.

I found some good tutorials that help
    1. This shows you how to insert a flv into a player and place
it in your dreamweaver page - its actually very easy using this
method and flv files don't have to be converted to swf:
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flash/articles/flv_tutorial_03.html
    2. This gives good background info.
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flash/articles/video_guide_03.html
    3. I'm definitely no expert on the video side but perhaps the
sound issue you are having has something to do with how the file
    was encoded?
    Hope this helps.
