No visible workspace in CS6

Buddy of mine is having some trouble with CS6 on Mavericks
Everything is up-to-date, but he can't use Premiere as the workspace is not visible.
Resetting and trashing all app preferences does not work, upon every launch of a new or old project ends up like this.

I am having the same problem, but mine was caused by an interesting situation.
I am using Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 on a macbook pro retina display running OS 10.8.1
I work with my macbook closed - in clam shell mode - with a Thunderbolt display plugged in via a thunderpolt connection.  I have been running Premiere perfectly like this for over a year... until now.
Basically what happened is I unplugged from my Thunderbolt display with Premiere still open.  Ive done this before with no problems.  Normally when I open up my macbook, the screen takes a moment to rescale itself and Premiere's workspace is still there and I drag the corners to resize it for my retina screen.
On this occasion, when I opened my macbook, the Premiere menus are all still visible at the top of the screen, but the workspace is just gone.  All I see is my desktop like in chattphotos's screenshot at the top of this page.
I have tried resetting preferences and I have treid resetting workspaces.  What is interesting is that if I got to the Window menu and launch another tool palette that wasnt open in my project - the that tool palette pops up and is visible.  But if I try and launch a timeline or any other palette that was previously visible I get nothing.  Also - selecting one of these palettes through the Window menu and then attempting to close them (using Command W) causes Premiere to crash.
Right.... so Im really stuck here.  Short of a re-install I dont know  what to do.
Vinay Dwivedi - I tried going through your solution with renaming files, but that folder structure doesnt seem to exist on my system.

  • Transfer workspace from CS6 to CC

Where is the workspace file? I want to transfer my workspace from CS to CC. Dreamweaver was no problem.

    I'm doing this on 10.8.4
You will have to go to your user /library/preferences....but since osx 10.xx (I dont know which one exactly) the Library folder is hidden SO...
    ....In your FINDER menu under...
GO (hold down alt and you will see library apear among other things), click on it
go to preferences/ find your “previous CS product settings” folder/find workspaces/copy them to the workspaces folder of your CC product
I did this with illustrator an indesign and it works, i copied my workspaces from CS6, and i have done the same thing when going from CS5-CS6.
This time is a little different. “Illustrator CC setting” folder ......is called “Illustrator 17 settings” and for indesign is “version 9.0” folder.
Of all the CC products only Photoshop asked me if i wish to import my previous workspaces.
I wish those guys developing different apps would talk among themselves once in a while.
    I hope this helps.

  • Can't save any custom workspaces AE CS6? (recently upgraded to OSX 10.9 rMBP)

    Hello -
since transferring my CS6 across to my new laptop running 10.9 -
I can't save any custom workspaces... it's driving me crazy having to move everything around every time i restart AE.
    - I arrange the workspace and save it as a custom name - this appears in the menu.
*However* - upon restart of AE - this custom name is no longer there, and the workspace is once again, an old workspace I had, with windows everywhere.
    - I can reset STANDARD workspace - but even then - when I change to another workspace, then change back to STANDARD again, it reverts to the older, messsy version of standard workspace i had...
so there's some issue with saving for me....
    - I checked 'get info' to see that my workspace related preferences in the library folder had read/write access and even changed that to everyone has access...
After doing this, I got this error below, when resetting STANDARD workspace, saving project, then switching to another workspace - and then switchng back to STANDARD...
it still brought up the messy workspace version, not my newer reset version, and gave this message:
"After Effectswarning: Error parsing properties list from file ".......Preferences/Adobe/After Effects/11.0/ModifiedWorkspaces/UserWorkspace11.xml"
(I"ve also repaired permissions with Disk Utility ( there were a lot needing repair, but none were explicitly adobe, and didn't solve problem on laptop reboot )
I've been trying to find a solution online, without success so far...
    Any advice greatly appreciated...
(And I wonder what this problem might have wider ramifications for my version of AE? )
    thanks!

I'm having this same problem and yet, I did not migrate my software from one computer to another.
I downloaded AE CC 2014 off of Adobe's installer.
I can't get my workspace to be remembered at all. I can make different workspaces, naming each one. But when AE restarts they are all gone.
Any one else with this problem?
    Thanks in advance.

  • No pins visible in Photoshop CS6 Extended Blur Gallery

In the Blur Gallery of CS6 the blur pins are not visible. I have tried the shortcut H to show the pins, but this did not affect any change. The pin with the adjustment ring and the other adjustment points are not visible. I seem to be able to add pins with the cursor (push pin with + is visible) and make adjustments on the sliders, but no pins. The M key will display the mask and the P key will toggle the preview on/off. The problem exists in all 3 blur filters (Field, Iris, Tilt-Shift). I'm operating on a PC running Windows 7 Pro 64 bit, with 12 GB of RAM. The program is Photoshop CS6 Extended. I don't seem to have any other Photoshop issues to date. I've closed and opened the program, restarted the computer, and re-loaded the program from the disk. No change. Any help?

Is "View > Show > Edit Pins" definitely enabled as below:

  • How do I move my pc CS5 shortcuts and workspaces to CS6 in Macpro ?

trying to move my PC CS5 photoshop and illustrator shortcuts and workspaces, and photoshop presets, into CS6 on the macpro retina,
can someone give me a rundown how to do this?  I don`t want to stuff it up.
PS & AI shortcuts and workspaces,
    PS presets (including brushes).

Photoshop. importing from pcCS5 to macCS6
    importing workspaces.
I was able to import my workspaces from pcCS5 to macCS6 by pasting them into this path in the finder,
    "applications/adobe photoshop cs6/ locales/ en_GB/additional presets/mac/workspaces/2-taskbased workspaces/ .... "
even though the pc file is called unix executable, when I restarted PS on the mac, it showed up in the workspaces drop down in PS and is functional.
    importing brushes
    regards PS edit/presets/ export.import presets...
I imported my custom brushes via that dialog, but have no idea where they ended up, I dont get the purpose of that dialog then,
so I just used the normal presets manager in macCS6 to load the brushes that I imported from pcCS5 and that worked.
    importing keyboard shortcuts
paste the pcCS5 keyboard shortcuts into
    "applications/adobe photoshop cs6/ locales/ en_GB/ support files/ shortcuts/ mac/
they`ll show up in the macPS edit/keyboard shortcuts set drop down.
    Illustrator , importing from pcCS5 to macCS6.
    keyboard shortcuts
I dropped the KYS file (AI keyboard shortcut file)  from pcCS5 to macCS6:
    "applications/ adobe illustrator cs6/ presets/ en_GB/ Keyboard shortcuts folder."
they show up in mac illustrator when I load them as a custom shortcuts set in the edit/keyboard shortcuts dialog, but not sure yet how well they will work considering mac uses cmmd option, but it may convert them from the pc equivalents ctrl/alt hopefully.
    importing workspaces
I copied my unix executable worskpace files from pcCS5 into:
    applications/ adobe illustrator cs6/ presets/ en_GB/ workspaces.
I restarted AI but the workspaces from pcCS5 still don`t show up in the workspaces drop down in illust`r macCS6 . not sure why not. I did the same thing with photoshop and it worked there.
    importing brushes
just via the brushes dialog box menu in AI macCS6, "open brush library", "other"...

  • How to move CS5 workspace to CS6

Is there a way to get my CS5 workspaces and preferences into CS6?  I moved the files and it doesn't seem to work. Thanks.

Has worked in previous verison previous to CS5, did you move the file to the correct location, quit and restart Illustrator?

  • Canon MG6250 - ScanGear not visible in Photoshop CS6 (32/64 bit)

Does anyone know if the scanner in Canon MG6250 is incompatible with the PS CS6? I am running both CS6 32 and 64-bit in Windows 7 64-bit.
I can't see ScanGear-driver - I only get connection with WIA, and that driver is not as exciting to work with.

You can get the CS6 Twain plug-in here: http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/twain-plug-photoshop-cs4-cs5.html
I just installed it on basically the same setup as yours. I'm having good luck with it,but as Chris cautions it is buggy and for 32 bit PS only.

  • How do I load my Workspace from CS6 unto my photoshop CC?

    I run a Mac platform

In the Finder use the Go > Go to Folder command
That will get you to the Workspaces folder.

  • CS6 Beta Bridge bug importing CS5 workspace names with apostrophes (Win 7, 64x)

When I installed the CS6 Beta and opened Bridge [using File > Browse in Bridge...] I noticed that my CS5 workspace name of "Mark's" was showing as "MARK'S".  I tried creating a new workspace in CS6 Bridge with the name of "Marc's".  No problem with the newly-created name.  So, the problem must be just when importing workspace names with aprostrophes from previous Ps versions.
Side note:  this CS6 Beta working great so far!  Thanks to everyone.

  • Export workspace cs6 to cc

How do I export my workspace from CS6 to CC?
    Any help would be great!!

Not completely, no... but you may export XML and open that in previous versions... with the limitations of XML

  • Mountain Zoom Slider not visible

For some reason the mountain zoom slider is not visible. v. CS6.  I'm not sure when it disappeared, possibly when I subscribed to Creative Cloud.  It shows up on my v CS5 version.
I tried resetting my workspace, which didn't help, but really messed up my layout.   Fortunately closing and restarting Premier Pro set things back.  Thank you for any help.

Do you mean the zoom slider like the one in the Project panel?
That is gone. You have a bar along the bottom to use.

  • [xmonad] uniquely addressing each ppVisible workspace

    Hi everyone.
I'm having some troubles getting a certain piece of my xmonad configuration working. My Haskell skills are not up to par just yet; therefore reading documentation does not necessarily translate to the capability of solving the problem at hand.
I want to be able to set up exactly what the OP from this thread way back in 2010 wanted - to have different colours indicating the physical location of each visible workspace on a three monitor set-up.
At the moment, my xmonad.hs file as the following lines:
    ppCurrent = dzenColor fg_red background . pad
    , ppVisible = dzenColor fg_blue background . pad
which obviously highlight my active workspace red and two visible (but inactive) workspaces blue. I'd prefer if I could set each visible workspace a different colour (say one green, one blue) to indicate what physical monitor each resides on, so I don't end up addressing the wrong one when not paying attention.
The solution in the above thread doesn't solve the issue, but instead uses getSortByXineramaRule to force the current and visible workspaces to the left, such that a configuration like this could occur [4 1 8] 2 3 5 6 7 9. I don't particularly like this solution because I prefer to name my workspaces (mail web shell etc.), and swapping them in this fashion will render associations to the mod+1..9 sequence difficult.
I've therefore dug a little deeper into the issue, but as I said, my understanding of Haskell is lacking.
The DynamicLog hook is where ppVisible resides, the docs say its constuctor needs to know a Workspaceid:
    ppVisible :: WorkspaceId -> String
To me this says ppVisible is called more than once on a three monitor system, which means I should be able to throw different colours at each call. Am I right about this assumption?
From the docs, StackSet "Xinerama in X11 lets us view multiple virtual workspaces simultaneously ... [therefore tracking] which virtual workspaces are associated (viewed) on which physical screens [is required, and StackSet] keeps separate lists of visible but non-focused workspaces." Which tells me xmonad keeps track of this location information and I should be able to address it in a round about way even if it's not through ppVisible?
Have any of you managed to set this up before? Or if you have better Haskell/xmonad experience than I; can you see a way I can colour each visible workspace separately?

    Hi everyone...
I have some problems with - I think - conky. (My window manager is xmonad. The conky output is piped to dzen2. xmonad 0.7.1, dzen svn, conky svn (conky 1 repo))
I'll try to explain my problem with screenshots with conky running stand alone...
Everything works fine as long as I see the conky desktop output: screenshot 1
When I move my terminal above the conky desktop output, or when I just use one or more tiled (not floated) terminal(/other windows, e.g. firefox), conky doesn't update anymore: screenshot 2
Now, when I change to another desktop on which you can see the conky desktop output again (or when I resize a floated window), conky updates again (look at the seconds)... screenshot 3
EDIT: #conky (freenode): "i guess your window manager prevents conky from accessing the root window, so it locks up somewhere"
    Here are my config files:
    ~/.xinitrc
    ~/.conkytoprc
    ~/.conkybottomrc
I hope anyone can help me... I hope that dzen-conky-statusbar will soon print me updated times and songtitles. =(

  • Matching CC to CS6

I just downloaded CC and was able to implement my workspace from CS6 and load presets. But color settings and other preferences along with screen colors etc are not how I want them. Any way to match everything with my CS6?  Thanks

Programs are not linked, you will have to change manually to get same settings.

  • How to get keyboard preferences from cs6 to cc

Does anyone know how I can get my keyboard preferences and workspaces from CS6 apps over to the new CC apps?  Most importantly Premiere's prefrences?

  • Flash Player (Firefox) Vs. Mac Leopard and Spaces

here is a weird issue that seems to cause more than one major
    issue for me.
If I have my Flex application open in Firefox and I CMD-TAB
to another application that on on a different Virtual Screen(Space
as Apple like to call them) then CMD-TAB back to Firefox. Firefox
will show up in the foreground but the window itself does not truly
have focus, (here is where I have two different issues one crashes
the browser every time, the other causes my text object to jump off
the the bounds of my screen). The first issue of crashing the
browser seems to happen only when I have an alert box open, if I
CMD-TAB to another space and then CMD-TAB back to firefox, then
click the OK on an alert box without clicking the title bar on
firefox to gain focus, the browser crashes. not at all sure why
    this occurs.
The other issue is the I have a page editor type of
application so you can add text and drag it around where ever you
like, if you add a text object to the workspace, then CMD-TAB to
another Space then CMD-TAB back to firefox if I click and drag a
text object it will jump off the screen, and I cannot get the
object to come back without some small hacks to be able to call an
object back to the visible workspace. This one i think occurs
because say your screen resolution is 1024x768 and you jump to
another space, then jump back without focusing I think Flash Player
thinks you are still at say (-1024*Spaces to the left) or
(+1024*spaces to the right) but if I click the title bar before any
click on flash player none of these problems occur.
This does not happen with Safari(Safari Focuses as as soon as
you CMD-TAB to it, Firefox works just fine as well as long as you
do not CMD-TAB to another Space and back)

    tgeiges,
I think your best option here would be to open a support case
    with the Flex team (
    http://www.adobe.com/support).
This sounds like something they'd be interested in testing.
You can also file Flex bugs directly to Jira here:
