No Vision on Airplay from ipad2

Airplay and iPad2 will stream sound but not vision to Apple TV 3, iPhone4 works fine but not ipad and all software is up to date WT?

I have rebooted everything including the Apple TV.  Can you reinstall the Video App or do I just work around it until Apple fixes the App?  Thanks for helping on this BTW.

  • Sound, but no vision when streaming from iPad2 to ATV2.

Have downloaded FilmOn app and trying to stream a programme from iPad2 to ATV2 using AirPlay. Getting sound on TV but no vision.
    Any ideas?

Hard to say, each store will offer different apps and there so many. The iTunes store has a section for airplay enabled apps. IOS 5 will introduce wireless mirroring though so that will help.

  • AirPlay from ipad2 to apple tv2

When I am watching a movie on my ipad2 via homesharing I'm unable to AirPlay it to my apple tv2. The apple tv2 AirPlay icon shows a speaker next to it rather than the tv icon. Are there any particular settings I should look for?

You are streaming a video from a pc to your iPad.
You want to stream it from the pc to the iPad then stream from the iPad to an appletv?
    Why?
Why not just stream from the pc to the appletv?

  • ATV2 only shows poster and audio when airplay from iPad2

    Hi,
I've just got an ATV2 hooked up to my shared iTunes library. All good. I start to play a video from the same shared iTunes library on my iPad 2 and then choose to airplay it to the ATV2. When I do all I get is the movie poster and the audio from the film shown on the ATV2. What am I missing?
    Thanks!

I have the same issue but I posted my question here

having difficulty - via airplay --w/ streaming sites from ipad2 to g2 apple tv -- get audio but not video -- what gives???

What site are you trying to watch?  I just tested 3.  The you tube app streams from the pad to apple tv fine, as long as the source video format is ok.  Checked a site called funny or die.com. Most of the videosmthere stream to apple tv fine.  A few have a different format, and do audio only.  Netflix does not stream at all, but you can get to netflix directly from apple tv.  Whether or not it streams is directly related to the format of the video.  Some do, some dont.

  • Error (-42018) when trying to airplay from iMac to iPad2

When trying to airplay from itunes on my iMac to my new iPad2, it starts ... connecting... and gives me the error
"An error occurred while ... unknown error (-42018)."
Anyone know what that mean? They are on the same network and I can pick the ipad to from the "play on list."
    Thanks in advance

    Chris, you are wrong.
No, I am not wrong but thanks for playing.
    You need to install airframe
Perhaps you could have mentioned this in your first post because it is not a standard part of AirPlay.
Please don't answer questions, when you don't know the answer.
I do know the answer which is why I responded (though now I wonder why I did).
You should contact the author of Airframe instead of being rude.
and it does not seem to be in the (US) App store anymore.

  • Can the new pre installed apps in iPad 2. Like garage band, iMovie be sync back to i tune, and then sync these new apps from ipad2 to the old iPad 1?

Can the new pre installed apps in iPad 2. Like garage band, iMovie be sync back to i tune, and then sync these new apps from ipad2 to the old iPad 1?

    GB and iMovie pre installed?
    http://www.apple.com/ipad/built-in-apps/
Click: Browser All Built In Apps
iMovie and GB must be purchased.
If you have installed GB and iMovie on the iPad 1 and synced using iTunes, just sync the those apps to the newer iPad with iTunes. No re purchase necessary with the same iTunes account.

  • Can I use ATV(2) and Airplay from iPad without a network?

I'm going on holiday to a rented villa which has a TV (which I assume has an HDMI port) but there is no internet connection, therefore no router or local WiFi network.  I'd like to be able to play content from my iPad and/or iPhone via Airplay on the TV using my AppleTV (2) (which I could easily take with me).
However, experimenting at home, it seems that ATV won't do anything at all unless connected to a WiFi network.  Airplay works fine even if the network is not connected to the internet; even purchased content seems to be ok (but DRM free - I haven't bought any non-DRM-free music).  However, without a separate WiFi router, ATV doesn't seem to do anything.  In particular, my iPad doesn't "see" it, and can't connect to it, unless both are connected to an existing network.
I don't understand why this should be so.  Should it not be possible to connect two WiFi devices (eg iPad and ATV) to each other without needing a router?
I can get it to work if I use my MBP to set up a WiFi network by using Internet Sharing to share my (non-existent) ethernet connection using Airport.  Airplay then works between my iPad and ATV.  However, this is a rather clumsy arrangement - I'd been hoping I wouldn't need to take my MBP with me for that week.
So, am I doing anything wrong, or is this (Airplay from iPad to ATV without a router) just something ATV can't do?  And is it "can't do" (ie ATV has the wrong chipset or something) or "won't do" (ie Apple have set it up so it won't work like this)?  And if it's "won't do", any chance Apple will provide this functionality in the future?

After submitting this, I found an answer to a similar question last December (Can I create an ad-hoc (WiFi) network between my iPhone and Apple TV?); basically saying that you need the router; but I'll leave this as a question (a) to help others find it, because I looked before I submitted and didn't find a relevant discussion and (b) just in case someone else has a better idea......

You could take the airport and setup a wifi network without Internet. The atv2 can connect without Internet access to a wifi network setup with a router. Be patient when it connects, it tries to establish an Internet connection and it takes a while to find there isn't one!! Eventually it offers to connect without Internet. Once connected you can stream to it as usual. One word of caution - don't disable home sharing, if you do and re-activate it the atv2 seems to need an Internet connection to verify your account.
I did precisely this recently when I had to wait for a couple of weeks for Internet to be connected at my new house.
But, you need the router - unlike iPhone, iPad etc the atv2 will not connect to an ad hoc network.

  • How do you xfer info from ipad2 to iMac?  Is there a specific icon in iTunes for this?

How do you xfer info from ipad2 to imac? Is there an icon on itunes to do this?

What info do you want to transfer and from which app(s) ? If it's contents/files of apps then for some it'll be via the File Sharing section at the device's apps tab when connected to your computer's iTunes, other apps may have wifi functionality so you can transfer files to/from your computer via your wifi network.

  • Can i play music and use mirroring function at same time from ipad2 to apple tv

can i play music and use mirroring function at same time from ipad2 to apple tv

Yes, any audio during the "mirroring" funtion will forward to the appletv. This includes all system audio, games, apps, ect. If you slide the mute botton the side of your ipad to mute then you can block app audio and just get Music audio or Pandora if you are using pandora.
