No voltage change from bios settings on my P7N2 Diamond

This is my first post here. Yes , I am a noob, so be gentle with me. First things first, I'll give you my system set-up:
Motherboard: P7N2 Diamond
Memory: 2X TW3X2G1600C9DHX is a 2048MByte matched pair of DDR3 SDRAM DIMMs
CPU: E8600 Intel core 2 EO stepping
Graphics card: EVO9800GX2
HD: Maxtor 280 gig esata
OS: Vista 64
OK, so here's my problem. I can not seem to change my CPU voltage settings. I go into the bios and change the CPU voltage to whatever I want, but when I boot up windows and open CPU-Z and or Everest, I get matched indications of my CPU voltage running at a constant .99V no matter where I set the voltage in bios. The only way I can see a change of my CPU voltage is by enabling EIST? or whatever the auto voltage control in the bios is called, and then I see a change from .99 to 1.14 depending on the programs that are running, and the overall load on the computer. There appears to be a similar problem with the DDR voltage, or Vdimm. I set it to 2.1 to get my corsair ram to run stable at 1600 but in CPU-Z and everest it says that it is at 1.5 volts. I cant seem to figure out why its doing that. I am thinking that its either a bios problem, a incompatibility problem with the CPU, or a faulty MB. Please let me know what you think.

Ah hah!!!! A voice!!!! .....Well, a font anyway Thank you NovJoe for responding. I have been checking the boards regularly for a reply. Well, all I can say is that the MB comes with a program called "dual core" that is a board utility, and it matches exactly the voltage readout on CPU-Z and Everest. One program may respond slightly faster than the other, but you can generally see the voltage change "float" when I am using EIST on all the programs, and they correspond with each other. This leads me to believe that they are working, even if not exactly accurate. They do all read .99V when I am not using EIST. I am convinced that the data that they are giving me is correct, because I cranked my CPU voltage to maximum and had no change whatsoever in temperature or performance, or anything else. X220 - Can't change UEFI/BIOS settings anymore, locked out of update
Since a few weeks my X220 is not able to make any changes to the UEFI/BIOS settings. When trying to do so either any changes get silently ignored or I get one of the following error message while trying to save.
Security - Failed to save storage: Setup. Status: 0x9
Security - Failed to save storage: PwdStatusVar. Status: 0x9
Security - Failed to save storage: LocalSecurityVars. Status: 0x9
Didn't find anything on those errors here or on the web, unfortunately.
This is with UEFI 1.19, unfortunately this problem even prevents me from upgrading to the latest release (this is a linux-only system, so no Windows-tools, also I had UEFI-only enabled in the settings when this happened, so the Update-CD won't boot). Also I had some parts of the hardware disabled when this started to appear, so can't reenable them anymore, which is pretty bad as you might imagine.
Three notes:
*) there is one exception to not being able to save, I can successfully set (and remove) a supervisor password, but that's all
*) After the UEFI tries to save the settings there's a hang for 2-3 seconds, don't know if this is related.
*) The time from pressing the power button until the X220 reaches the boot loader is significantly longer since this effect showed up
Anyone got a clue what these errors are actually about? I thought about pulling the BIOS/UEFI battery and trying to force a reset of the settings that way. Is this safe or a bad idea?

Otherwise, if you're comfortable removing the keyboard and palmrest, you could try to disconnect and reconnect the CMOS battery. But there's no guarantee that this will solve the problem, which I why I think the better idea is to call the support team. -
Could not change the multi or any of voltage after P80 bios

I have I5 2500K and z68A-GD55(G3) and board and successfully flash the new P80 bios and every thing seems fine but when I try to overclock i could not change the multi or any of voltage in the bios settings ??

-REI presume you mean you can't get back into bios by holding down DEL. quickest way is to reset the JBAT1 jumper. /take power lead from PSU, remove JBAT1 from pins 1 & 2, put jumper on pins 2 c& 3 for 5 secs, then pur it back on pins 1 & 2, put power lead back in, Boot, this will reset bios to defaults, you will need to enter setup at prompts and set your boot sequence etc. Did you have turbo on as well as high performance? Better using Safe defaults, then using core center to see what you can set it up to.

I have an HP Envoy 700 PC Series. Running Windows 8.
Everything was working fine, until I changed/disabled some settings in the BIOS, an dnow the PC turns on without any display.
I need to reset my Bios settings.
I tried removing the CMOS battery for an hour, still the monitor doesn't turn on.
I tried playing with the jumpers (assuming I'm doing it right).. Any pointers?!
Pc turns on normally without a display. This all happened when I changed my BIOS settings.
Any help would be great.
Thank youThe fact that you removed the CMOS battery usually resets the BIOS so this may not be the problem, however, the computer must be left on for up to 24 hours to permit the battery to charge itself.

About a month ago I picked this motherboard up, and I usually format after I get new hardware. Since this new motherboard apparently doesn't let me change them, and WinXP doesn't have DOS, how do I change my BIOS settings so I can format?

me_AMD is right, though... if you want to change BIOS settings just press DELETE on your keyboard, whether PS/2 or USB makes no difference. Press it as soon as the video card bios disappears and the system posts.

X60 factory and recommended BIOS settings?
Service guy changed some BIOS settings from factory default said it saves some energy and reduces CPU heat. My system overheated, previous service forgot to clean the inside, congratulations.
So my question is what are recommended BIOS settings for the X60, recommended changes from default? Service guy forgot to tell me what he changed so if I reset I can't get back to the settings he implemented.
So preferably I would need the original settings printed, too, so I can compare it with the changes.Thanks for the reply.
The BIOS shows the modules are running at 1333.
The Weird thing is I had many BSOD problems before I changed the voltage and on SevenForums I was advised to run Run Memtest86+.
I runned Memtest86+ run a few times for over 8 hours and it showed no errors at all.

is there a possibility to set Toshiba BIOS settings over a command line tool?
We have hundreds of Toshiba Notebooks and would like to activate Wake On Lan.
I know there is hwsetup, but as far as I know this GUI doesn't accept parameters...
We would like to propagate new settings over a script.
Any solution for this ?

Something like that is not known to me and I doubt this could be possible.
As you said there is an preinstalled Toshiba HWSetup tool which can be used to change some certain BIOS settings. But this is only one way to change the BIOS settings from the Windows OS. -
Cannot Access BIOS or Boot Windows 8 After Changing UEFI BIOS to Legacy BIOS
Acer V7-751, 500G HD, Windows 8.
I changed the BIOS settings from UEFI to Legacy BIOS when I was working on a problem. Now I can't even get into the BIOS (F2)
or change the Boot Order (F12). All I get is an error "Operating System not found". I can boot with a Win7, Win8, or Win8,1 DVD. I suppose I could boot with just about anything else bootable as well.
The problem seems to be caused because it's set to Legacy BIOS and Secure Boot Manager as default #1 boot device. Legacy BIOS
can't boot a Win8 drive that has been installed under UEFI (Secure Boot). I have to change the BIOS back to EUFI to boot the WIn8 drive, but the only way to change the BIOS is from within Win8. It's a very flawed way of doing things but it's the way it is.
Does anyone have any suggestions that they KNOW work. Please don't Google answers. I've already done that. And please (please)
don't tell me to power on and press "F2" (or any other key) to go into BIOS. If I could do that I wouldn't be posting.
Once again, I cannot get into the BIOS without going into Windows first. I cannot load Windows because the install was done
under UEFI. I cannot change from Legacy to UEFI because I can't get into the BIOS.In this case, I flashed the BIOS with a newer version of the BIOS/Firmware and that returned everything to the Defaults (not Legacy BIOS). I believe you could also flash with the same version. I don't think you could flash with an earlier version, but no harm
in trying it. if you've flashed the BIOS previously, you may be able to restore the previous copy. It all depends on the manufacturer and how they handle flashing the BIOS.
I wasn't able to, but you may also be able to boot from a correctly formatted USB drive with another OS (Windows XP/Vista/7) because Legacy BIOS allows you to boot from external devices. Essentially, you need to be able to boot from a valid OS that is not on
the Hard Drive that was configured using the UEFI BIOS setting.

just wanted to share my experience with a manual P2V Migration. The VM became to ressource hungry and it was decided to move it off an ESX 5 Cluster to a dedicated physical Machine.
V2P Virtual Machine to physical Server IBM x3650 M4 and switch from BIOS to UEFI Boot environment
Task:
V2P Migrate a VMware virtual machine to a IBM x3650 M4 with a ServeRAID 5110e RAID Controller or any other LSI RAID Controller without 3rd Party tools.
This should also work with other RAID Controllers or Servers but be sure to pick the right drivers then.
Extra Task:
The VM's boot environment/virtual BIOS is BIOS, not UEFI (as per default VMware Setting). The physical Server is running in UEFI mode.
The Challenge:
After restore the Server won't boot or get into a BSOD (7B), because the RAID drivers are missing.
After restore the VM won't boot because the boot environment has changed from BIOS to UEFI
Preparations:
An existing physical Server of the same type and with the same RAID controller and same OS would be nice for troubleshooting and checking the registry.
An existing DHCP server will make networking things easier.
Connect the new physical server x3650 M4 to power and network
create a virtual drive that has at least the size of the existing VM plus the size of the full backup (.vhd). Should be about twice the size of the original vmdk.
Get a USB Flash stick (I used a 8GB modell so no problem with larger sticks)
Download and extract LSI MegaRAID Driver on that USB media (I used 6.705.05.00-MR_Windows_Driver directly from LSI website)
Download and extract INTEL Network Adapter Driver on that USB media (I used 12.11.97.0 of e1r62x64.inf from 19.5 driver release from 2014.09.26 directly from LSI website)
Step by Step:
if you have an other physical Server of the same type and same Controller and same OS:
1. open regedit and export everything related to SCSIAdapter and megasas2 to .reg files or skip this step and use my files below
some of this (sub)keys may not be accesible - you will then first take ownership and/or modify permissions to read them

this one is more complicated:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\CriticalDeviceDatabase (only relevant are those devices where the service name is megasas2 - export the whole subkey and get the filtering done with tools like notepad++)
Make a copy of the following files/folders:
c:\programdata\LSI\
c:\windows\inf\megasas2.INF
c:\windows\inf\megasas2.PNF
c:\windows\system32\drivers\megasas2.SYS
on the existing VM:
1. create a full backup (image) with the built-in Windows Backup Utility and save it in an accessible network location (you will need this one, if anything goes wrong or you want to come back to this point.
Alternatively you could create a VMware snapshot.
2. import the .reg files you created earlier or import my files below.
Attention: This will make the VM unbootable!
But it is required to prepare the VM for the new RAID controller when it will be restored on the physical server.
Do NOT reboot now as this will make the VM unbootable!
4. Copy the LSI folder and the megasas2.INF/PNF/SYS files to the appropriate destination folders on the VM.
3. again create a full backup (image) with the built-in Windows Backup Utility and save it in an other accessible network location but not where you safed the first backup.
This will be the "golden" backup if you want, where the RAID controller is prepares. We will rebuild the new machine with this second backup.
4. Optional: you could use the Backuputility now to restore the Systemstate of the first backup and reboot or restore the VMware snapshot.
This will undo the changes we made to the VM.
on the new physical server:
1. boot the physical server from Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 DVD
2. when it is ready to install, press shift+F10 to get command prompt and do not click to install Server 2008
3. check driveletter of the USB stick with diskpart list vol (was C: at my Server, so don't wonder about that letter)
3. load drivers for ServeRAID SAS controller (this is mandatory to see the volume in diskpart)
drvload c:\srv_2008_x64\megasas2.inf
4. load drivers for INTEL I350 Gigabit NIC's (you will need this to access the backup that is on the network)
drvload c:\PRO1000\NDIS62\e1r62x64.inf
5. wpeinit (will start network. wait ~15 sec to let it start and get IP address)
check if you have IP connectivity an address with ipconfig, if not, use an other NIC driver and repeat steps 4+5
6. create the EFI and BCD
diskpart
list disk
select disk x (where x is the number of the disk to convert)
clean
convert gpt
create partition EFI size=128
format fs=fat32 quick label=EFI
assign letter=i or any other free drive letter
create partition MSR size=128
6.1 Copy EFI bootloader to EFI partition
i: (where i is the letter of your EFI partition)
mkdir EFI\Boot
mkdir EFI\Microsoft\Boot
copy x:\Windows\Boot\EFI\bootmgfw.efi i:\EFI\Microsoft\Boot (where x ist the default letter of the current Windows PE environment)
copy x:\Windows\Boot\EFI\bootmgfw.efi i:\EFI\Boot\bootx64.efi (note that the file will be renamed to bootx64.efi)
7. create the new partitions
diskpart
create partition primary size=100000 (edit the size to your needs. this will later become the system drive of your server)
format fs=ntfs quick label=Windows
assign letter=Y or any other free drive letter
create partition primary size=990000 (this will temporarily store your backup and we need it for the restore process)
format fs=ntfs quick label=Backup
assign letter=B or any other free drive letter
exit
8. map network drive and copy the backup .vhd to the local disk
net use L: \\networklocation\where\you\saved\the\backup (enter the credentials when asked)
copy the .vhd file that contains the OS of your VM to the local Backup Partition B. The relevant vhd file is usually the largest file in that fileset.
Note that the names are very similarly - be sure to get the correct file!
copy "L:\WindowsImageBackup\VMNAME\Backup 2015-02-03 123456\00e767c6-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx.vhd" B:\
give it time, this is slow and will take some minutes/hours and you will not see any progress! Look at the disk-LED's to see if anything is still happening
9. mount the .vhd and copy it's contents to the new system partition
Note that you can only mount a locally stored .vhd. You cannot mount a .vhd in a network location.
diskpart
select vdisk file=B:\00e767c6-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx.vhd
attach vdisk
select vol 5 (where 5 is the number of the mounted vdisk)
assign letter=Z or any other free drive letter
exit
10. Restore the files from the image
z: (where z is the letter of your mounted .vhd)
xcopy * Y:\ /e /c /h /k /o /b /q /y (where Y: is the letter of your new partition with the label "Windows")
several "Access denied" messages appear, ignore them. Those are SystemVolumeInformation folders.
11. Create Boot Configuration Data (BCD)
bootrec /RebuildBcd
this will try to repair the missing BCD on the second of the two small partitions we created earlier in and should normally work, otherwise you'll have to create BCD manually (search google for that procedure)
Note that it may find more than one Windows installation and ask which sould be added to the boot list. Be sure to select only the one that is in the correct Volume (Y:\)
that's it - exit the DOS command box and close the "Install Windows" Window, after a prompt it will reboot.
Select "Start Windows Normally", if Windows Error Recovery appears.
12. Preparing Windows
When Windows boots for the first time, DO NOT reboot if you are asked, it won't come back at this stage!
Install Intel chipset drivers for the Server (I used "intc_dd_inteldp_9.4.0.1026_windows_32-64.exe" from IBM website)
Open Device Manager, uninstall the "RAID-Controller" with the exclamation mark. You cannot install the correct driver for this Device at this point, it will bring you the error: "Cannot create a stable subkey under a volatile
parent key"
Once again, DO NOT reboot!
In Device Manager select Action>Add Legacy Hardware
click Next
select Hardware manually
select Storage Controller as Type
LSI should be listed, select "LSI MegaRAID SAS 9281-8E"
click Next, ignore the error "Code 10" Message.
Click Done.
Rightclick the LSI MegaRAID SAS 9281-8E device with the exclamation mark in Device Manager
select Update driver
select Browse my computer for driver software
select let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer
select "Have Disk"
browse to the folder where the extracted RAID driver 6.705.05.00-MR_Windows_Driver is located (e.g. USB Flash stick E:\6.705.05.00-MR_Windows_Driver\srv_2008_x64)
then unselect "Show Compatible Hardware"
on the right side, scroll up and select "IBM ServeRAID M5110e SAS/SSATA Controller"
ignore the Update Driver Warning and click Yes
click Next, ignore the error "Code 10" Message.
ignore the exclamation mark on "IBM ServeRAID M5110e SAS/SSATA Controller" in Device Manager but be sure that there is only this controller and no other RAID-Controller or LSI SAS Controller listed under "Other Devices"
or "Storage Controllers"
NOW you are safe to reboot
After reboot you will find two "IBM ServeRAID M5110e SAS/SSATA Controller" in Device Manager
Rightclick and uninstall the one with the exclamation mark. Do not tick the checkbox to remove the driver as well!

BIOS Settings unavailable to modify in Administrator Account.
When the user enters the BIOS as an administrator, he will not be able to make any changes in the BIOS but the Guest account will let him make all the changes.
Scenario:
If you enter the BIOS as Guest
You will be able to access all the BIOS Options.
If you enter as the Administrator using the HP client security credentials or windows credentials.
The PC will not allow you to change any BIOS settings.
Solution:
Enter the BIOS as a Guest and setup a BIOS Administrator Password.
Go to Security>”Setup BIOS Administrator Password”. The password needs to be 8 characters long.
After the Password is set, you will have to save changes and exit.
The PC will now restart. You can press F10 to enter BIOS again and will see the new BIOS login page.
Select BIOS Administrator account highlighted in Blue.
Enter the BIOS Administrator Password to access BIOS settings.
You will now be able to View and Make changes in the BIOS
Reason:
HP client security adds an extension to the UEFI BIOS and enables BIOS protection.
If the user has not set a BIOS password, the Client security creadentials will treat the Windows user account as a Guest account but since the account is already assigned to a user, it will be listed as an Administrator account rather than a User account.
The actual open account will then be treated as an Admin account but is listed as a Guest Account.
Once the user installs a BIOS Administrator Password, the Client security program will know which account to be considered as an Admin account.
In the Image below, we have

Windows User account: Restricted
Guest Account:View Only

How do I access BIOS settings to enable visualization on my desktop

do you save the settings before exiting bios? also make sure that you clear your bios once by removing the battery for 10 min, in order to clear all rezidual information. -
I changed the memory settings in the KT6V Bios.
I changed the memory settings in the KT6V Bios without flashing to the latest bios update. Now the system won't post and of course I learned afterwards you shouldn't mess with memory settings.
I did everything, cleared the cmos(several times with and without the battery), also tried to do the bios recovery but that didn't work. And yes I have the 4-pin plugged in, I also tested all the parts on another motherboard and they work fine with it.
So is the board fubared? I just bought it the other day, it's a long drive to take it back where I got it from so if anyone knows if there is a possible way to recover it please let me know!Quote

The emergency bios recovery procedure is detailed here:- http://www.msi.com.tw/html/support/bios/note/boot.htm or you can try tapping the F10 key followed by "Y" on the keyboard to see if you can trigger the bios flash recovery procedure that way. It did not work for me. Good luck. Post back with your results.
Ya I'm getting the four red led's and I've tried everything and still no post. Geez, I can't believe this, I've never seen a motherboard die by just changing the memory setting from normal to fast...this is quite irritating.
