No Volume Control For DDL & DTS Connect with XtremeMusic under Win7

? I have an X-Fi XtremeMusic PCI card with Windows 7 (32-bit).
I'm using the latest SB X-Fi XtremeMusic drivers for Win7 including hotfix.
I've installed "Dolby Digital Li've & DTS Connect" and it works fine under Windows 7 32-bit, except for one thing. I totally lose software control of volume in Windows when in digital DTS/DD mode. No matter what I set volume level at, it is always sounds?the same (probably max). The only way to control it is manually at my receiver box. If I don't use DTS or Digital Dolby, I can control volume just fine (even in the classic digital PCM mode). My default playback device?under "Manage Audio Devices"?is the?SB X-Fi speakers. However I've tried every combination possible in the audio control panels and nothing will get that volume to work right. So this appears to be a bug in either the digital addon pack or the drivers for Win7. Can anyone else confirm this or possibly have a fix?

K This shouldn't be the case. There's no reason why it can't handle volume control before encoding it into the DD/DTS?signal. PCM digital?works fine with volume. So the problem is somewhere with the addon pack. I have another computer which outputs Dobly Digital and volume is no problem on it. Of course it doesn't use a SoundBlaster.

  • Rear sound goes to front speaker with DDL/DTS Connect (Xfi Platinum)

DRear sound goes to front speaker with DDL/DTS Connect (Xfi Platinum)T Hey there,
I just installed the newest modded driver from [url="http://forums.creative.com/t5/Sound-Blaster/X-Fi-Auzen-2-20-0002-0-RC4-2-dated-5th-November-2009/td-p/540790">here[/url] and now I have the problem that when using DDL/DTS Connect (yes I have it activated!): the rear left channel gets output on my front left speaker, and the rear right goes to front right. My externaldecoder is correctly identifying the output stream as DD/DTS and the front speaker and subwoofer works fine. Also when using my Xbox 360 the sounds correctly get to the rear speakers, so this is likely not a problem of my decoder.
Anyone had a similar problem to this? Any idea why this happens?
    My system:
    Windows 7 x64
    Intel Core2Quad Q6600
    4 GB RAM
    nVidia Geforce 9800 GTX+

H I noticed this doesn't just happen with DDL/DTS Connect. The same behaviour happens when I connect my headphones to the plugs on the back of my computer. The rear plugs don't output anything, while the front plugs have "double" output.
I tried all kinds of different drivers, always removing the previous ones and restarting before trying a new one. Right now I'm with the official 2.8.003 X-Fi driver.
    Please, somebody help!

  • No volume control for audio tag in Firefox 5

So this is the problem - after I installed Firefox 5, '''volume control''' for '''audio''' tag stopped showing when I move mouse pointer over the mute control. I have all other controls visible - pause/play and mute, but not the volume control.
This occurs only when I use audio tag. If I open pure .ogg or .oga file in FF5, everything is fine, but that's not usable for me since I need to have audio embedded in my web page.
    Video tag is working well.
Is there anything I can do to fix this (without having to code volume control in JavaScript)?

K? No it's not perfectly normal. The software volume control should be done by the Window/Creative sound drivers BEFORE it is sent to the DDL/DTS encoder driver.
Today I found that I do now have limited volume control. However the Master/Device/Speakers volume still does not work, nor does the mute. However the individual applications in the win7 volume mixer work fine to control volume, but having to adjust these gets tidious.
I have no idea if this just suddlenly started working, I just missed it before, or if the webcam with its audio mic driver I just installed did something to it. But at least I do have some way to control volume now within windows. Now if only I can get the master slider to work. Anyone have any ideas? I found one other post on here where someone else was complaining about this very same problem with DDL.

  • Volume control for video playback through Apple TV2

I am trying to configure the volume settings used on airplay through apple TV2 and a macbook pro and Iphone4 all with most recent updates.
I am using the apple remote app on my iphone to control the apple tv.
    Whats working:
Using the pandora app on my iphone through aiplay to the apple tv, I can control the volume using the plus and minus buttons on the side of the iphone for volume control. Very cool and easy.
Using the apple remote app on my iphone I can control the itunes volume of different speakers by clicking on the airplay icon and using a slider.  Not as cool as using the hard +/- buttons but still works.
    Whats not working:
Controling volume on appleTV2 through the iphone remote app for video playbacks like netflix, and youtube.
Why I want this: RIght now I can control most of the multimedia right from my iphone including cranking the music up:) But when I switch over to video(Netlfix, Youtube) I have to get out another remote (stereo reciever) to control the volume. It seems we are so close to being able to control everything off the iphone, the only thing missing is volume control for video playback.
Is there a setting that can be changed or a solution I havent found?
    Thanks

Same problem with TV3. HDMI volume output is not adjustable, neither with the original Apple remote nor with any universal. Why ? Every simple settop-box is able to be volume adjusted. And a Mac Mini too ?!!!
I use a flatscreen TV. it has 3 HDMI inputs and one optical out for the audio going to an amp standing behind it. The sound of the TV is switched to go to the optical out.
HDMI 1 is connected to the satellite settop box with its  own remote control ( channel +/-, volume +/- etc. ) it work s fine.
HDMI 2 is connected to the MacMini HDMI out with its own remote control ( channel/music +/-, volume +/- ) it works fine too.
HDMI 3 was connected to Apple TV3 with its own remote control ( channel/music +/- but no volume ). I sent the TV3 back to Apple.
What's going wrong in the mind of Apple ? Why is the HDMI volume output of the MacMini adjustable with the Apple remote, and the TV3 not ?
I want not to discuss, wether a 4th remote control is useful or not. I don't want it. I want to adjust the volume with the originl remote control of the specific unit I use, because I need it anyway. It worked since years, but not with Apple TV3.
How can we help Apple to open the volume +/- function on their own remote control ?

  • Mapping Alsa Volume Control for USB SoundCard (C-Media 650)

Hello everyone who is interested in helping me solve my volume control problem!
Lets see, I have sound playback working, currently I am listening to some Foo Fighters mp3s in XMMS using the Alsa plugin, so I can't complain too much.
However, volume control doesn't work. If I set the alsa plugin to use software volume control, then I have volume control but its not ideal and it doesn't help me when I'm not using xmms. When I run alsamixer or open the gnome volume control, I have multiple volume controls for the "Speaker" device. The 1st pair of volume controls do nothing, I can mute them and my music keeps playing... no idea what they're controlling. The 2nd pair ("Speaker 1") DOES control the sound volume. I just need to find a way to remap it or something so I can configure my applications/tray icon/etc to use it. (And preferabbly not the other 6 channels)
In the Gnome sound control, the devices are:
"Speaker" - stereo control that doesn't do anything
and "Speaker 1" - a 7.1 channel (8 sliders) with the first two controlling front left and right sound for my stereo speakers.
I've tried setting xmms to use "speaker 1", but the option is not in the drop-box, tried typing it manually but that didnt work.
I set my tray icon to control "speaker 1" but the sliders don't seem to lock properly and the volume just jumps around, unlocking the channels and not staying balanced or scaling with the slider.
The only way to get the volume to change as expected is to open the gnome volume manager, make sure the channels of "Speaker 1" are UNLOCKED and slide the first 2 sliders to the desired volume.
So I was thinking if I could just remap the first two channels of "speaker 1" to something else using an alias or link or editing asound.state (which just confused me) for example, then I could use my alias to control the sound in my applications. Thanks for any help with this!

    Thanks again!

Some other observations that may be helpful (and, hopefully, get closer to the heart of the problem)...
    (1) Whenever VLC is playing audio (as mentioned in previous post, it is only application that works in desired manner), it will show up in Kmix's "Playback Streams" tab. Whenever Wine and Firefox are playing, they do NOT show up in the "Playback Streams" tab.
    (2) Kmix will not allow more than one open application to grab the UA-5 sound (e.g. If I open Firefox and play audio, stop playing audio (while leaving Firefox open), then open VLC and try to play audio, VLC will not play audio (unless Firefox is closed)). This is likely a related problem to the problem outlined in the previous post, but it might not be. If it isn't, I'll take advice on how to let KMIX grab multiple audio sources simultaneously on the same sound card.
    Thanks for reading!

  • Option to disable iTunes volume control for remote speakers?

I have noticed that with iTunes 10, the option to disable the volume control for remote speakers seems to have disappeared from Preferences>Devices. If you click the "?" button, the help window gives an explanation of what its for but the option to check/uncheck it clearly isn't there. Since iTunes 10, streaming my music from my iMac to my Denon receiver via Airtunes/Airplay with an Airport Express has been disappointing. The volume is far too low. With version 9 and every version prior, the volume control option was always there in preferences and I always had it disabled; music came through loud and clear but since this option appears to no longer exist, the volume through the Denon receiver fails to impress, even with the iTunes volume slider at max.
Anyone else noticed steaming volume too low? If so, agree that it's a bug?
Message was edited by: Brian I.

I wholeheartedly agree with "I also used to disable the volume control to reduce the amount that my computer interferes with the sound before it gets to the external DAC." There is no reason why Apple shouldn't restore this important setting option as the volume control does negatively affect sound quality in a high-end set-up and we'd rather not just take their word for it that the volume control's maximum setting is the same as disabling it. Why does the volume slider change the output level even when using the Airport Express' digital output? It shouldn't, and it seems the sound is now being force sent through a stupid digital volume control for no good reason. If for no other reason the "disable" option should be restored to avoid inadvertent volume changes via the Remote app for iPod Touch and iPhone. Strangely as compared to several other posts here, my perceived volume level now seems louder than before, not softer as others are reporting. People that are serious about sound quality do not want iTunes or AirPlay (formerly AirTunes) to manipulate the volume level or any other aspect of the sound at all ever, as it can't help but only hurt. I also thought the "disable" setting was available in the Airport Utility previously, but it's vanished from there too.

  • Lenovo Miix 2 8" - Separating volume controls for headphones and speakers

The sound options for the Miix 2 out the box combine the volume control for internal speakers and for headphone jack, i.e. there is only one volume control for both the speakers and the headphones on the mixer settings at the the volume icon at the lower right hand of the desktop.  So when headphones are plugged in, there is still only a "speakers" control shown.
I work in an office and would like to have the speakers muted if the headphones are pulled out.
Similar issues resolved on other devices directed to install an alternate sound driver (that offered separate controls) or pointed to some other settings in the sound driver properties menus where this could be manually done, but I'm having trouble applying any of them to this device.

Worked beautifully! Thank you very much!!

Tried it reverting to an older version of Skype.  Didn't work.
But!  I believe I may have found the solution.
Here are the steps I took to solve the issue:
    1. Right click on the audio volume control icon -> Playback devices.  The Sound window and Playback tab should be open.
    2. Set Speakers/HP as both the Default Device and the Default Communications Device.
    3. Go to Skype>Tools>Audio Settings.  Set Speakers settings to: Speakers/HP (IDT High Audio Definition CODEC).
Hopefully this will work for anyone else who has the same or a similar problem.

  • Why does iphone has common volume control for ringer as well as Alarm?

Why does iphone has common volume control for ringer as well as Alarm? which is quite unusual. For Exp, In case i lower down my ringer for some reason instead of silent and forget to increase before i sleep, my morning alarm also remains at the same ringer level volume at which i can miss the alarm. Is it due to some specific reason or i have missed something to change in settings. Other phone like Samsung etc, they have separate volume control for ringer and to an extent, Nokia rings for Alarm even if the battery is completely discharged.

I have booked an appointment at my nearest Genius Bar which is 40 minutes away next week, so do I need a reciept or is the warranty checked from the serial number?
    No receipt needed.
and is it covered under Apple's 12 month warranty?
It very well may be covered, depending on what Apple finds.

  • Do we need to create two zones for Two HBA for a host connected with SAN ?

Hi,While creating Zone , Do we need to create two zones for Two HBA for a host connected with SAN ? Or a zone is enough for
a host which having Two HBAs...We have two 9124s for our SAN fabric...
As I found like one zone  below, I little bit confused that , if a host having two HBA connected with SAN, should I expect two zones for every Host?
from the zone set, I gave the command show zoneset
    zone name SQLSVR-X-NNN_CX4 vsan 1
        pwwn 50:06:NN:NN:NN:NN:NN:NN
        pwwn 50:06:NN:NN:NN:NN:NN:NN
              pwwn 10:00:NN:NN:NN:NN:NN:NN
But I found only one zone for the server's HBA2:by the same time in the fabric I found switches A & B showing the WWNs of those HBAs on its
connected N port...Its not only for this server alone, but for all hosts..Can you help me to clarify on this please..that should we need to create one zone for
    one HBA?

if u have two independent fabrics between hosts and storage, i think the below confs are recommended.
Scenario 1:  2 HBAs single port each ( redundancy across HBA / Storage port )
    HBA1 - port 0 ---------> Fabric A ----------> Storage port ( FAx/CLx )
    HBA2 - port 0 ---------> Fabirc B ----------> Storage port ( FAy/CLy )
Scenario 2: 2 HBAs of dual port each
    HBA1 - port 0 -------> Fabric A ---------> Storage port ( FAx/CLx )
    HBA2 - port0 ---------> Fabric A ---------> Storage port ( FAs/CLs )
    HBA1 - port 1 --------> Fabric A --------> Storage port ( FAy/CLy )
    HBA2 - port 1 ---------> Fabric B --------> Storage port ( FAt/CLt )
the zone which is in your output is VSAN 1. if its a production VSAN, Cisco doesn't recomends to use VSAN 1 ( default vsan ) for production.

  • I need small earbud earphones with a volume control for my IPod shuffle.

Can any of you tell me what company or companies make small earbud earphones with a volume control to use with my Ipod shuffle?  The standard Apple earphones are too large for my ears and after about 30 minutes of use I have to take them off.  I ordered some JLab small earbud earphones but now that they've arrived I realize they don't have a volume control.

Hey, I had the same problem when I first bought my Ipod. The issue is not with the Ipod its with iTunes, go to Preferences then Playback, change the volume on SOUND ENHANCER, I recommend the sound check but thats personal.
After you do that, connect your Ipod and go to settings uncheck maximum volume, and sync. I added memory for Ipod usage to make sure (decreases # of songs for ipod usage)
Good luck I hope this solves your problem it solved mine.

  • Volume control when using front row with an external audio interface

    Hi,
I got my macbook last week, and so far, I love it. But I've got a small gripe with FrontRow - in my room at college, I have my macbook plugged into an oldish Tascam US-122, which I use a lot for recording. The Tascam is connected to my expensive active speakers, and ideally, I'd like to be able to play back via FrontRow to the Tascam, to the speakers, while retaining remote control. This isn't a problem for selecting Photos/Videos/Music etc, but the problem arises when I want to change the volume - the remote simply controls the volume of the macbook's internal speakers, not affecting the output of the Tascam.
I know I could just connect the speakers via the headphone output, but that would mean more cables, and more chopping and changing system preferences to suit whether I'm making music or just listening.
*So - is there any way at all that I can make the macbook's global volume control (using the volume hotkeys and remote) affect the signal its sending (via USB) to the Tascam?* I know its not impossible, because until recently I used it with a PC running XP, and that allowed me to use the volume control app to boost or cut the Tascam's volume. Perhaps its an issue with the Tascam's OSX driver?
The Tascam has its own physical volume knob, so its not like I'm stuck listening at deafening or very quiet volumes, and I know this sounds like an issue with my laziness rather than FrontRow or the macbook, but surely it defeats the point of FrontRow if I have to walk across the room every time I want to turn the tunes up or down?!
Any help would be much appreciated!
    Cheers,
    Thom Bishop

hmm, yeah, thats kinda what i suspected - i reckon this is to do with the way the frontrow interface is set up, but theres no way (as far as i can see) to make everything pass through the main system stereo channel BEFORE going to an external audio interface... which is COMPLETELY bizarre, since system sounds/alerts get passed to the audio interface fine.
and no, i very much doubt whether ANY external audio interface would respond to apple remote (gap in the market, perhaps?).
this would be a fairly simple problem to solve, if only apple were aware of it... of course, i COULD try getting to grips with audio units and seeing if i couldnt fix it myself, but ive frankly not got the time to learn how that works! how can i make apple aware of this issue?? are they already aware??

  • Volume Control on Satellite Pro A200 with Ubunutu 7.10

I have a Satellite Pro A200GE-1F9 which I have recently made dual boot with Vista and Ubuntu 7.10. This is the first time I have used Linux and most things are going well so far.
However, the volume control (a scroll wheel on the front of the laptop) is not controlling the volume correctly with Ubuntu, instead of increasing the volume smoothly as with Vista it increases in jumps of an 1/8th of maximum volume, the on-screen volume control is still smooth. I believe this is at least partly due to the change from a hardware volume wheel, as with all the past Toshiba's I have used, to a software based version. This controls the system volume and turns continuously, not stopping at the minimum or maximum volumes.
Does anyone know of a way to change this jumping volume change to a smooth one?
    Thanks for any help

    Hi there,
since no one here has any clue nor drivers nor any information about the driver support from toshiba, no one will be able to give you some useful information.
Did you already googled and checked the ubuntu forums? I think that will bring you nearer to the source instead of here.
So just begin asking in the ubuntu forums because I think that someone is out there which perhaps has the same problem like you.
Hopefully hes some kind of programmer. ;)
