No Warning when opening FM file in use by someone else
Hello,
When opening an FM10 document in use by someone else across the network, the Document In Use dialog does not appear.
The .lck file exists in the location of the document but FM allows the file to be opened and edited and saved with no warning.

We have created report files that are configured to open in spreadsheet/excel format, and when attempting to open the report in Excel 2007, the following warning message appears:

In 10.7 and 10.8 this library is hidden. To see it, option click the Go menu in Finder and it will appear below the little house for your user account. In those versions of OS X it's also not a bad idea to go to the Saved Application States folder while you're in the library and delete any states for PSE. -
Override document preferences when opening a file
Hi all
Does anyone know if there is a way to override the document preferences with the InDesign preferences when opening a file (or even when a file is open).
The issue i have is that I have a whole load of documents where for some reason the superscript has been set to size 100% and not the standard 58.3% and i want to revert it back to standard without the need to open preferences -> advanced type and then resetting all the sizes.
I know that Quark (sorry to swear) had this ability where on file open it would warn of a preference mismatch and ask if document or Quark prefs should be used.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated as it will save me a lot of time.

JustinThe issue is that although InDesign will open up Quark documents, it doesn't appear to allow you to add them to a book.
Therefore, from what i can best make out, i would need to import the Quark doc into InDesign, save the file as an InDesign file, then import it into a book to run the script. We have few hundred single page Quark docs for a packaging job we are doing.
It seems quicker to open the file, and just change the superscript preference, its not an insurmountable issue, just more of an inconvenience and a bit of a waste of time.
Thanks for yours and everyones help on this as it will certainly use the script on InDesign projects should the same issue arise. -

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness shows up, the first thing to try is a proper reboot:
Pre-BB10 Devices ONLY. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes.
BB10 Devices. Hold the top button down until the counter reaches zero. Wait for the device to be fully shut down (e.g., nothing at all displayed on the screen, no LED lights, etc.). Hold the top button until the red LED is lit. Wait through the full boot-up process. If this fails, you can attempt the battery-pull method above, but it is normally NOT recommended unless nothing else works.
See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
Otherwise, please provide additional details...for example:
What, exactly is the true file format? Not simply the file extension, but the true format?
Does the file extension match the true file format?
Where was the file created?
Does the file work on other devices?
Do other format video files work OK on your device?
What is your exact OS level, and what exact app are you using to try and play the file?

Adobe Acrobat pro 9.4.6 crashes when opening multiple files simultaneously.
We have Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 which has been updated to version 9.4.6. we had this problem when the 9.4.5 update was applied also. It is now crashing when we try to open multiple files simultaneously.
Yesterday, I narrowed down the problem to 6 plugins:
IA32
ADBC
eBook
EScript
HLS
PPKLite
SaveAsRTS
However, we discovered that that Comments and markup tool bars weren't loading. So I did a repair install on it.
Now those plugins from yesterday work and Acroform.api is causing it to crash when opening multiple files.
I did try other suggestion that involved using Icacls/cacls on dll files to no avail.
It is running on XP SP3 fully updated with plenty of RAM and HDD space.
Is there a way to fix this without reinstalling?I am not sure what's causing this problem on your machine because everything's working fine for me.
What is the version of Acroform.api on your machine now.
Do a Repair after deleting this file and see if it works.
Enable Windows MSI logging (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314852) before you do a repair, upload that log to some file sharing server, and paste its link here. -
How do I specify the file extensions when opening a file in Labview?
When opening a file, the file open dialogue box appears with a drop down box called 'Files of type *.*
I want to only display files of type IPC, and I will create all my files to have this extension.
I have been using this technique in VB for some time, but I cannot find a method of doing this in Labview so far, can anyone help?Use the function "File Dialog" and wire your type to "pattern label".

Automatically Exporting to XML when open a file

I'm trying to set up my new machine to export the XML of a file when I open it by dragging the files onto the Ps icon (Mac). It used to automoatically happen on my old work machine, and it's super helpful. I'm pulling my hair out trying to find the setting for something like this. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? That choice is not made by Adobe, but your browser, of which you give no details. 64-bit browsers cannot open PDF files, as the Adobe Reader plugin is a 32-bit app.

Adobe Reader 8.1.2 (admplugin.apl) crash when opening PDF files

I did spend some time today trying to get Adobe Reader 8.1.2 to run on a Citrix Access Essential 2.0 server.
Setup
Server OS:
Windows Server 2003 SP2 - fully patched.
Other software:
Office 2003 Standard, Danish, SP3
Symantec Antivirus 10.1
Adobe Reader 8.1.2, Danish
The installation is clean (1 week old).
Problem description:
When opening PDF files, Adobe Reader crashes before showing any content from the PDF file. The module crashing is admplugin.apl.
Work-arounds tried:
Uninstalling and reinstalling Adobe Reader 8.1.2 (DK).
Disabling Antivirus (service stopped)
Replacing admplugin.apl with admplugin.apl from Adobe Reader 8.0
Uninstalling DK version and installing US version.
Adding user to local Administrators to exclude any permission related problems.
Deleting Adobe folders from users profile Application Data\Adobe\... and Local Settings\Application Data\Adobe\...
Turn DEP off
Solution:
Finally I gave up and installed 7.0.9 (Danish). It works as expected.
It seems that the problem is known and a few user has reported this. One Adobe KB article mentions the problem, and the solution is to disable some 3. party diagnostic/support tools provided by DSL providers. This is definitively not the issue in this installation.
Anybody from Adobe having any input to this problem?

I am having a similar issue with Ver 8.1.2 running over cirtix with a similar setup to Jans-Peter.
The difference is that Reader opens fine but when you try to edit preferences it crashes.
This only happens on an citrix session. If I run reader on the server directly it works OK.
However after reading above I can replicate the problem on the server by moving or deleting the ADMPlugin.apl file.
Any further ideas at all?

THERE IS A PROBLEM IN OPENING ANY FILE. WHEN OPENING - A RAPID SUCCESSION OF FILES OPEN, ONE ATOP THE NEXT, WITHOUT SHOWING FILE'S CONTENT. THIS CONTINUES FOR QUITE A WHILE. I MUST TURN OFF COMPUTER. IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO CHOOSE ANY OTHER FUNCTION WHILE THIS IS HAPPENING, IE : WHEN OPENING A FILE. AS IN , I CANNOT OPEN GOOGLE OR MAIL, ETC. AND THE FILES KEEP OPENING AS UNTITLED. SO I AM NOT ABLE TO OPEN ANY ONE FILE, AND SEE ITS CONTENT, THEY JUST KEEP STACKING LIKE EMTY PAGES ONE ON TOP OF THE NEXT.

Am a member of Adobe Creative Cloud.
Am also constantly having crashes when opening a file with Acrobat XI pro.
Am running on Windows 7 Home Premium, Service Pack 1, 64 bit - RAM 20 GB -
The crash happens systematically after the installation of the update. Within one day I uninstalled and reinstalled the program 4x! It takes of a lot of my time.... Thank you for providing a definitive solution!

Closed it out at the end of the day thinking everything was finally fine but this morning the same crashes it had yesterday... HELP!!!
