No waveform of my audio recordings!!

Hello. The waveform of my recordings are erased when I stop the recording. To find them, I must quantize in the editor. Do you have the same problem? How to fix it? thank you!

Check Logic's  Preferences/Audio  make sure "Recording Delay" is set to 0 <zero>.
Did you change it?

Try the waveform zoom slider. Recording louder just to get a better visible waveform would be, well, silly.
From the manual: (click on links to see pics)
To change the zoom level using the Waveform Zoom button
Click-hold the Waveform Zoom button. A slider appears.

Drag the slider. As you do, the waveform shown in all audio regions, and in the Beat Mapping track, is increased or decreased in size.

Note: This is a purely visual function. The amplitude (level) of the waveform is not affected.

  • How Do I Transfer audio recordings from my iPhone?  They won't sync, I can't find them in Internet Explorer, and I can't find them in iPhone Explorer

I can't get audio recordings from my phone.
Why are Apples software developers such idiots?  Can their software ever come up to par with their design and marketing???  This is McDonalds all over again- no the best hamburgers don't sell the best and neither do the best phones, at least not in America.
Someone prove my wrong by showing me how to get these extremely important audio recordings off of my iPhone and onto a usable format.  The recordings are up to an hour long and I've already tried reinstalling my iTunes software, they aren't even visible in Windows Explorer, or iPhone Explorer software... but when I turn on my stupid phone they are there - I have restored my phone from backup and reset my phone and this just astoundes me yet another feature that a 7 year old could require in a software design eludes inclusion- "If people may spend hours and hours recording meetings and important conversations should we make it simple to move audio files recorded with the audio recording app included with every phone to computers so that they can save them to computers, CDs and share and send them others?" ...."YES!!!"  .  Why is Apple so against open source control of these phones and especially an audio download platform? Money- so they can profit off of every song played on these stupid phones.  Great job Steve!  Way to force users of your products to become leemings in your plot to control the online music community profits.  Way to put your greed before your customers.  This too will fail.  Consumers always get what they want in the end- enjoy the profits off of online music purchases while they last... in the meantime at least consider puttings some money into hiring some programmers from Nokia to fix your stupid syncing code and terrible iPhone interface.

instead of writing such an essay, you could have explained better what you tried to do to get them.

  • Is there a way to see the waveform of the audio in the primary video track?

Is there a way to see the audio waveform of the audio in the video (primary) track?
Scrubbing to determine precise edit points is useful, but seeing the dialog audio waveform would be much better.
You can see the audio waveform in additional audio-only tracks, but for cutting to dialog you really need to see the primary audio waveform that's in the video track.
    Any thoughts?

    msimpson,
No. The waveforms are only visible in the two separate audio tracks.
A work around would be to use Advanced>Extract Audio command.
This command, in spite of its name, copies the audio to one of the audio tracks and sets the volume level of the audio to zero in the video track.
Now you'll have the waveform to use in editing. When you're done with it, you could delete it and raise the volume again on the video track.

  • Can anyone help with my audio recordings that stopped working?

Hi, I have audio recordings available in a secure "member only" area of my website. Unfortunately, from time to time, some recordings stop working. I only find out about this when my students / clients tell me. I don't understand why this occurs or how to fix it. Can anyone help? Rita

It could be a browser issue?
It could also be an internet issue for the user?
The other is that if the are long mp3 files, the server times out the request.
I would log a support ticket with BC and be as specific as possible to the nature of the issue and if there is a way to replicate it. When the Student / Client tells you about the issue it would also be good to get there browser version and platform details to try and create a replicable error that can be solved.

  • Does Captivate 7 have the capability to do dual audio recordings?

Does Captivate 7 have the capability to do dual audio recordings?
Do the setting of the recording devices affect its ability to do so?
I am working on an HP  EliteBook 8560W.

When you say "dual recordings", do you mean two audio sources (say audio playing from the laptop and narrator recording the audio)? If yes, then it is possible. You have to select the System Audio check box and the source of your narration audio before you start the recording.
If not, please mention your audio sources and also type of recording you want do.

  • Waveforms look good, audio is horrible

Captured video shot with Sony V1U.
Shotgun mic in channel 1, wireless lav in channel 2.
Monitored capture (via DVCAM deck) on TV--video and audio were fine.
In canvas, clips look fine, waveforms look fine, but audio from channel 2 is muted and noisy.
When clips are dragged in the timeline, shotgun audio directs to A1 and A2, and wireless to A3 and A4. Waveforms for the audio are in A1 and A4. If audio in A4 is dragged up into A3, the sound returns to fine.
Has anyone had this happen before?
Again, during capture, the audio sounded fine.
In FCP, the waveforms look fine, but the audio from channel 2 is very muted.
Once audio is put onto A3 (and not A4), audio sounds fine.
This has happened with previous projects; as long as the audio is on an odd-numbered channel, it sounds fine. If audio is on A2 or A4, it sounds horrible.
    Please help!

Try dropping the audio into Soundtrack Pro. If you have no issues there then you must have a settings problem with your sequence.
You could try right clicking on a piece of footage and select " make multi-clip sequence' this will make a sequence native to your footage and it may help.
What are the settings you are using? Are you recording HDV?
FCP can be quite stubborn with audio.
If the audio is fine in soundtrack pro > export it and play it in the timeline again. If no issues appear then you have a glitch somewhere on the timeline settings I think.
    Anyone got another idea?

I have created an I-tunes playlist consisting of audio recordings (AAC) recorded in Quick Time 7 Pro.. The play list works fine in the computer and in the I-pod. However; I am unable to burn the playlist to a Cd disc. What am I missing ?
Audio recordings created with Quick time Player 7 and installed as playlist in I-tunes . Playlist works fine in Ipod; unable to burn to a disc.

Hi ! to Bd Aqua !

    1. Audio recordings recorded in Quicktime 7 pro . Eighteen separate short recordings (18 tracks).
1A. the combined playlist byte is 28.3 Megabytes
    2. Moved to I-tune.
    3. Created playlist in I-tunes.
4.I go to file dropdown and request "burn playlist to disc"
    5. Burn Settings dialog box appears.  I click burn.

  • How to get audio recordings back on my Mac?

I accidentally deleted most of my audio recordings on the Mac.  But they're still on my iPhone.  When I sync my iPhone to my Mac they don't go back into iTunes but they remain on my iPhone.  Is there a way where I can get them back in my iTunes library?

The sync is one way - computer to iphone.  The exception is itunes purchases: File>Devices>Transfer Purchases
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup cop of your computer.  Have you failed to do this?

  • QT Pro: Making audio recordings not in .mov format

Why does the recording feature in QT Pro just make audio recordings in .mov format? I then have to extract the soundtrack ( flatten is what is says during this procedure ) and even though it was recorded in AAC, it needs to be converted to AAC in iTunes a redundant second time.
Is there a simpler way to make AAC recordings in QT Pro and then just import them into iTunes?
My audio recording setting in QT Pro is set to H.264. I am picking "new audio recording" not video recording.
    Thanks

    Perhaps an alternative program...

  • Reference Waveforms without actual audio or regular waveforms. PLEASE HELP!! :)

I recently imported some video from a DLSR Canon camera (.MOV h264) onto my computer.  After importing them into FCP X, the clips have reference audio waveforms that match what should be playing with the video, but they don't have any audio that I can adjust.  There wouldn't happen to be a way to get the audio from the reference waveforms, is there?
    1) I recently updated to Mavericks
    2) They play on my camera
    3) It was recorded from an external wireless microphone
    4) When I raise the volume and add Gain... it just increases to digital noise, so actual dialogue or anything remotely matching what the audio should be doing.
    5) I've tried importing with and without the optimization, and it does the same thing both ways
    5) All of the software is updated.
    Any ideas?

Dual mono shows the same thing.  After bringing up the levels, it does show a little sound, but it's just digital noise at the bottom.  The reference waveforms follow the audio that should be in there.
As far as back-up is concerned, I usually back-up everything... twice, but it was shot on my way to a week long event and I didn't think to record with my phone.  The problem could easily be related to my camera, or importing, since the Macs have been having trouble with SD cards and mounting.  I have not made sure that the import function doesn't automatically delete the files off of the card upon importing.  This is the first time I've had this problem, though, so it seems odd.  I still can't figure out why it would have reference waveforms, but no audio.  I was hoping there was some way to extract the audio using FCPX, but I've tried it with FCPX, Audition, and a few other programs.  It still plays on my camera, so the last back-up option would be to go from my camera HDMI to a device I could record audio from, and have it as a file.  I was just hoping there was an easier way.

  • Transfer MP4 audio recordings from iPhone to MacBook Pro

Hi there! I want to transfer some MP4 audio recordings from iPhone to MacBook Pro. The only option I'm being given is via e-mail or message but the audio recordings are too long to send in these formats so I would like to bluetooth from iPhone to MacBook Pro.
    Does anyone know how?
    Thanks!

    You're welcome.
Just noticed you're on a Mac...look at this:

  • Help! Audio recordings are limited to a file size of 2 gigabytes.

Hi, I have been having an issue with garageband lately. I record for about 10-15 seconds and I get this error message
"Audio recordings are limited to a file size of 2 gigabytes. This recording has reached the file size limit. Recording will stop, and the recording up to this point will be preserved."
I have no other tracks in the project and have over 100 gigs free space on my Hard Drive. I have unchecked the Auto Normalize Volume box however it made no difference. I have not seen any one else with this problem on forums. I have tried recording with the input jack, an external usb recording interface, the built in mic and for each of these I get the same message. I also had this problem with Garageband 10 so I upgraded to 11 with no luck and the same message appearing. I have called apple care and gone to the apple store and no one seems to know the solution. Can someone help? Thanks!

I'm having the exact same problme, with a few more pop ups appearing to boot.
I don't have a solution I'm afraid, but have found that just clicking OK (or cancel, depending on the pop up) will allow you to continue with your recording.
Annoying as ****, but still workable.
I shall endeavour to find a solution, and report back

  • FF etc during replay of Audio recordings

We all know how to fast forward or pause during playback of recorded TV programs, and I used to appreciate being able to do the same with audio recordings.  Many radio progs follow things like a 2 minute news slot and it was handy to be able to FF straight to the program I wanted to hear.  It was some time ago that I first noticed that I couldn't pause an audio replay, and found other buttons such as FF didn't have any effect either.  BT advice was to post my thoughts here because this is where they listen (strange they can't 'listen' to e-mails).
Anybody else missing the control buttons?
If we only do what we've always done, we'll only get what we've already got !!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Is anyone at BT listening to these requests for proper controls of the radio recordings.  This has been a problem ever since BT Vision was first available.  What, exactly, is the problem, surely radio recordings are simpler to handle than TV!
